Broken glass on phone

Hi I bought a phone today a few hours ago at a Best Buy store. I didnt take the protection on it. I drove home and reached for my phone and the entire bottom of it had cracked glass like it had been dropped. I didn't drop it but when i left the store the glass didn't look like that. I have no idea how to proceed. If i take it back inside the 14 day window to return will they exchange it for another phone? Please help.

Hi there mwmwmw,
It's awesome to hear you chose to shop with us for your mobile phone needs! It is peculiar that a crack would have appeared on the phone without cause, and that you may not have purchased a Geek Squad Protection plan for this device.
Sadly, without a Geek Squad Protection plan, we would not be able to service the phone, which would only leave you options under our Return & Exchange Promise. However, we are unable to accept items back for returns or exchanges that are damaged. With that said, I would encourage you to reach out to the manufacturer to see what options they may have for repair.
I apologize if this isn't the news you were hoping for with it being a brand new phone. If you should have any other questions or need further assistance, please let us know.
Regards,

Since Apple doesn't repair iPhones (they replace them) you will have to take it back to whoever "fixed" it. Since it's been opened by an unauthorized 3rd party, it is no longer eligible for replacement by Apple.

  • HT202696 I hve Apple care on 1 device but the person at the apple store just talked about replacing fried ports and did not answer my broken glass or component questions and nothing in detail is actually posted so im afraid its yet another insurance scam

I want to know what exactly Apple will fix on say my IPhone 6 plus. Like a dropped device with broken hardware or components or port issue, electrical broken glass etc.. I only have AppleCare on 1 device because I cant get straight answers about repair cost or if it will repair broken glass ,components  etc. The person at Apple just said it will fix ports and did not answer the other question about a real broken device or broken glass.

Actually that's not entirely accurate Csound1... If you purchased AppleCare+ it not only extends your warranty an extra year but it also now covers up to two accidental damages (water damage included). Now every scenario is different when you're talking phone damages so it's best to set up a reservation with the Genius Bar if something happens and they'll assess the damage. Either way, as long as you're covered with AppleCare you'll receive a deductible price on parts. Certain instances you may not have to pay anything which are usually things like faulty software, faulty buttons, etc.
    Hope this was helpful!

  • Will Apple Care extended warranty cover broken glass?

Or, for that matter, will the 90 day warranty do anything for broken glass on a 4G?

I was wondering the same thing.  I have an iPhone4 with the AppleCare plan.  Although I have had my phone and AppleCare plan for a year, I didn't bother registering the plan until tonight when my glass broke (from a fall of about two and a half feet).
My paperwork for the AppleCare plan says that it simply extends the warranty.  That tells me no coverage except for manufacturers' defects.  However, when I went to register my plan at the Apple support website, I was redirected to this page for details of the plan I had just registered.  http://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html
Quoting from that page:  "Every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone1 and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee.2 Whether you use your iPhone with a Mac or a PC, just one phone call can help resolve most issues."
This would seem to imply that for a $49 fee, I can get my glass replaced.  Anybody know if that's the case?
The plan I purchased is called "AppleCare" in all my paperwork.  However, this web page indicates "Applecare+".  Anybody know if there is a distinction between Applecare and Applecare+?
My guess is that sometime in the last year, they added that "two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee" sometime in the last year.  And when they added that coverage, they changed the name from AppleCare to AppleCare+.  But that's just a guess on my part.  Anybody know for sure?

  • Slate 500 Broken glass

Hi, I have a HP Slate 500, this fall and broken the screen, not the LCD, just the glass, now the touch don't work anymore and had glass is broken at middle of screen.
I need to replace this part, but HP don't give me support.
Where I can buy this part? Can HP give me this part number, may be I can have some success with this.
I live in Brazil, here HP don't give me support for this hardware. Every time than I try support, you say me to call U.S. support.
Can you please tell me how to solve? I have a friend than live in U.S. if I buy the part, I can send to U.S. address, so, he can send me.
But, please, don't say me to ask he to call support, he is a busy person and can't keep on telephone waiting for HP to solve my problem.
I am more than two months trying to solve this without success.
Thank you, I will wait for a answer than can really help me.

How much crap is HP Support???? More than one year and I still have tablet with broken glass without fix. Never more I will buy things from HP again.

  • What is the cost of replacing broken glass for iPad 2

    Broken glass on iPad 2

Apple does not repair iPads, but will replace the entire iPad for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/service/faq/
There are independent iPad repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipad repair".
    Regards.

  • Is it possible to replace a broken glass screen from an iMac 21.5" (Late 2012 model)

    Hi
My new imac fell on my desk an on the ground ending with a broken glass screen. The image is still intact without colour distorsion.
I'd like to know whether it is possible to change the glass screen.
    How ?
Where can I buy a replacement part ?
Is this a replacement that can be carried out by my Apple Store ?
    Many thanks for your help.

You should talk to your Apple Store.  The newest iMacs are very difficult, if not impossible, for the average person to repair.   The glass on previous iMacs could be replaced DIY but the new slimmer version is supposed to be specially glued together.

  • I have to restore my iphone 4s becasue it is saying "disabled connect to itunes" and it's never been synced with itunes. However the sleep/wake button is broken on the phone is there still away to restore without using it?

You can try, but the problem with that is you need battery power in order to restore. Once your phone has enough power to restore, it will still show the same message. To get the phone into either recovery mode or DFU mode requires the ability to first turn the phone off. But, you've got nothing to lose, so you might as well give it a shot.

  • Can we change the broken glass on IPAD2 ?

Can we change the broken glass on IPAD2 ?

Well my experience has been lousy.  I purchased my wife an iPad2 for Christmas.  Within two weeks, she grabbed it the wrong way while at the table and hit it on the corner.  The Glass cracked just around the top 1/2 section of the device across its entire width. We live in PR, but I purchased it online while at my home in NC.
I went online and after searching for info I was told by several people online that a one time replacement was often done by Apple.  So, I went online and made a Genius bar appointment to a store I knew.  I traveled to NC and to that store fifteen minutes before my appointment.  Needless to say, I waited 20 mintes past my appointment time to be told that warranty did not cover it, that the screen on these iPad2s cannot be replaced at the store and that instead I need an entire unit replacement.  A whooping $299.00 (I have a 16GB unit)
What ticks me off is not that it was not covered.  What does is that when I made my appointment I provided detailed comments on what was wrong.  Someone should have saved me the time I spent traveling to that store, sitting on a chair (store was not that full and plenty of blue shirt people just roaming around)
Someone could have told me warranty would not cover it before I went through all that travel.
    My solution:
Last Apple product I buy.  If I am going to pay premium prices for a device and this is my fourth Apple product, I expect some level of service that exceeds expectations.  Based on what I read online these screes are way too easily broken.  That is poor frame design in my view, or poor choice of materials for the screen.
Maybe Steve Jobs being gone is starting to show as a downhill trend on what we can expect from Apple in the future.
I will spend the $299.00 only to purchase a Droid based unit.  Apple just lost a customer.

  • My iPhone4 is broken and my phone company won't cover the damage. I am a student and I can't afford a new one..Will apple send me a new one?

My iPhone4 is broken and my phone company won't cover the damage. I am a student and I can't afford a new one..Will apple send me a new one?

No, you don't get a new iPhone simply because you cannot afford to replace it.
What do you mean it's "broken"?  Is it physically broken?  If so, warranty does not cover user damage.

  • Xperia z3 Broken Glass Question

So Saturday of last week,  I was at work,  and I had my phone in my pocket.  I work at an auto shop,  and I know how easy it is for my phone to shatter or drop. I bumped into a lift and my phone's back just cracked. Thankfully,  it wasn't the front!  Anyways,  I was wondering if the phone is still waterproof after a broken back, because the back is made of aluminum (under glass).  It did not crack all the way throught the phone,  just the glass panel. Reply here or through my email with an answer please?!  Email is [email protected]  Thanks!

Indeed it is rainy season in CA   if you bought this phone at a Sony store and bought the extra insurance you can get it repaired free of charge, at least that's what they tell you at Sony stores.
