Broken HDD, how to recover my windows 8?
Hi all. I have problem with my Toshiba C875-s7304.
The HDD on it was broken and couldn't be repaired. I bought and installed new HDD. But now i don't have windows 8 , that was on old one and was registered. There was no dvd with windows installer with laptop, all media was on HDD. Is there any way to restore my oficially registered windows 8, because i paid for it? I can't contact the support as i live outside US.

Restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled.
If no recovery discs were created, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here. If they won't ship to you, have an acquaintance in the US order it and forward to you.
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery media, which begins on p. 57 of the User's Guide.

I have another hard disc, but I can't find a suitable version of Windows XP that work with my registration key.
Is there a way to solve this, other than buying a new copy of Windows???You sure your old drive is properly dead? sometimes if it's the controller that's gone you can use the drive in a caddy or as a slave in another machine. There are other tricks that have been said to work too, like freezing the drive, tapping it... even if it only works for a short while you could copy the contents.

There are Three options available to try and reinstall Windows - make sure to back-up any important files first.
1. Shut down the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button and see if this launches the Start-up Menu - if it does, try the f11 option here to see if this will start Recovery Manager.
2. If you can still boot in to Windows, hold down the Windows Key and press R. Into the Run Box type compmgmt.msc and hit enter. Click Disk Management in the left pane and when the partitions have loaded, right click the Recovery Partition and mark it as 'Active'. Close all open windows and then restart - if this has worked, the notebook will boot from the Recovery Partition upon restart.

How to recover damaged windows that have installed oracle 9i?
Hi.
Now I got oracle 9i server on windows XP for develop purpose.
Few days ago windows XP has damaged, now it couldn't be booted.
In that oracle 9i server, lots of procedures and packages that were under developing.
I'm sure that oracle server doesn't have any problem. I want to recovery them.
Here're what I want to ask.
1. Re-install windows and oracle. and copy or migrate that can be possible way database data file to recovery procedures and packages. Is it possible?
2. Can I recovery with those database data file? Unfortunately I didn't export or backup file. T.T
3. What command should I use when I recovery them.
4. What files should I move to new oracle location(new data folder)? or Can I assign those data files when I re-install oracle software?

Edited by: allbory on May 30, 2011 6:48 AMAre you able to boot the Windows XP computer in safe mode (press the F8 key several times immediately after the computer's post screen disappears after turning the computer on).
Do you have a second computer with a spare hard drive connector? If so, you could install the drive in that computer (as D;, E;, etc.) and copy the database related files off the drive, if the drive itself is not damaged. If the Oracle files are still in good condition (not corrupt), you could reinstall the exact same Oracle Database version on a new computer, use ORADIM to create a new service (for the database instance) with the same name, shut down the service, copy over the files that were salvaged, and then start up the service. If all of the files are there in the expected locations, including the control files, online redo logs, datafiles, spfile, etc. and all expected directories are present, there is a good chance that the database will open when the ORADIM created service is started.

How to recover windows from 2nd partition
I have a problem, recovery process crashed almost at the end and when i restart computer i cannot get to the windows (missing files). I installed windows but i didn't have any toshiba utilities for recovery (only those files on 2nd partitions: hdd recovery). And here is my question, how can i recover my system from that files without any toshiba utilities? Can i download them or something? What can i do to restore it, because toshiba recovery media is, i think not available. And if it's not so how can i do? My warranty for laptop expired.

You should order the recovery discs from Toshiba.

How to Recover Windows 2008 R2 OS when there is no IMAGE is available ?
I am using Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 OS in my Dell PowerEdge 2950 hardware.
I was doing DCOM settings. I was adding new User group and permission for the newly added user group. After completion of this activity I re-booted my Machine. After re-boot, CTRL + ALT + Delete to unlock this computer appeared on the screen.
As soon as I hit Alt +Ctrl+Delete key, a screen turns to BLACK. During this time I checked the VGA Signal availability to Monitor and it is there. HDD activity is also exist (LED indication).
Then I re-boot the machine and chosen Safe Mode and the case is remain same.
I don't have my C Drive Image to recover (Acronics).
I don't understand show do I recover/repair Windows ....
Someone Pls reply if any solution is exist.

I had tried "Last known good" but did not work.
Remote Login did not came to my mind. Other then this option I tried with all the respect but no positive result. Finally I started from the scratch loading OS.
I was thinking to take an Acronics image before doing DCOM settings. But I was sure that nothing will go wrong as I was just adding new user group. Don't know what has happed to the system.
Last 2 days it was very bad time for me.

How to recover my SSD from simple drive under windows
hello,
it starts when i used the bootcamp to partition my 256GB SSD to install windows in my MBA, the target is to have iOS & WIndows7 each in separate partition of course + 3rd partition for my data.
so everything went all right until i get to Windows manager>driver manager then shrink the windows partition, this done successfully, and the new Unknown partition appears, accidentally i converted it to a simple Drive, this converted all the SSD to simple drive.
later once MBA reboots, Mac and Recovery partitions are not there, they disappear.
the question is
1. either how to roll this activity back?
2. or, how to recover my MBA to factory defaults?How old is your Mac Air? If it is one of the late 2011 models or a 2012 model then you can use Internet Recovery to Re-Partition the drive as ONE Partition. You need to do that to clear out all the problems you now have.
To use the Internet Recovery system you hold down either Command+r keys or Command+Option+r keys at startup and hold them down until you see a Spinning Globe in the certer of the screen.
If Command+r doesn't work then you use the Command+Option+r keys. One or the other will get you to the internet Recovery system.
Right when you used Windows to repartition the Windows partition it screwed up your whole system. You CAN NOT do that, Ever. Once you create a Boot Camp partition to install Windows in you have to Leave it Alone and there is no other way to install Windows on a Mac that also runs OS X.
There is NO way to FIX your system other then to completely wipe the drive be Re-Partitioning the drive as one partition and starting over with the install of OS X, Programs and personal files.
Sorry but I thought I made that clear in my first post.
If your system did not originally come with Lion installed and is older then a 2011 model then you will need to dust off the Original System Discs that came with your system and start with those as systems older then 2011 models can not use Internet Recovery.
You can only have One Partition for Windows, the one you originally create with the Boot Camp Assistant program.
You can have multiple partitions made by OS X and one of those could be formatted FAT so both Windows and OS X can use it.
But with only a 256GB drive you are going to run out of space someplace, on OS X or Windows, and even more so if you again partition the drive to include a third partition. -

How to recover HP recovery manager after replacing a new hard drive
Recently i've got alot of BSOD saying Bad_System_Configuration_Info, and i ran a hp start up test and my hard drive failed the short DST test, so i searched online and it says that it means my hard drive is failing.
im planning to buy a new hard disk. i dont have a windows disk to recover my windows 7, so i wanted to copy the hp recovery partion from the old drive to the new one. i dont know how to do it, i wonder if anyone knows. i dont have any recovery disks and i dont think i can order one so i want to restore my new hdd without using disks and using my old hdd`s recovery manager from hp
i bought the computer in US but i moved to china so im assuming that i will buy a new HDD that is not from Hp ? i dont know if this will still work cause i hear that it has to be HDD from hp to work

Here's an alternative option you can use.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - ie Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Recovery installation is very simply.
# Switch your notebook ON and press F12 several times
# When the boot menu is shown put installations disc 1 in optical disc drive
# In boot menu choose CD/DVD and press ENTER
# When the Toshiba Recovery Window is shown just click on next
# On next step Summary should be shown > confirm with next
Recovery installation should start. Just follow menu on the screen and put next installation disc when necessary. Please try this and I hope everything will be OK.
