BROKEN HEADSET JACK IPOD TOUCH 64G

Hi Everybody,
Last week I went to the beach and my iTouch tragically got fully covered by the sand; having thought I had cleaned each part of the iTouch, I inserted into the headset jack(the hole where you connect the headphone's jack)my headphones and realised there was still a stone inside of it, the cables/connections inside the headset got scratched and now, I can only hear through my left headphone... its horrible, the instruments get separated and the vocal sounds get separated... does anybody know how(and$)to repair it or any accesory to connect through the charging with a jack exit... i dont know what to do!
Thank you!
(I'm From Spain, just for you to know and not to recommend me shops at Miami or whatever!hahah)

Apple will only exchange yours for a refurbsihed one for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.  Just Google for iPod repair and you show find several palces to replace the jack.

Jack Ipod Touch 5 broken. when I insert the headphones they dont make contact, but is a Ipod problem and not headphones problem. So i want to know if i can take advantage free replecement/repair. (My Ipod is in warranty)
Sorry for bad english and thanks for the answer

If the problem was not cased by operator error, then Apple will exchange it at no cost. You can do it at an Apple store or contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider
If you have reviewed those articles and still need service for your iPod, you can contact Apple or take your iPod to your local Apple Authorised Service Provider, where available.

My ipod touch 64G doesnt allow me to do anything in my music app. I cant even play music or select anything.  But I can use all other apps.  How do I fix this??? PLS Help me:(

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • New iMac with existing iPod Touch (64G) authorization problem

I got a new iMac and transferred everything over to it from my existing iMac using the migration assistant during the first boot-up. When I sync my existing iPod touch (64G 3rd gen) I get stuck in an authorization loop where the Mac says I need to authorize the computer, I do so and then it says the computer is already authorized. New CDs that I have imported into my iTunes library since I bought the new iMac will not load onto the Touch during sync and some (but not all) of the music that I have purchased from iTunes will not play on the iMac. I have already checked to make sure that I have all the recent software updates and I do.
Any idea what is going on and how to solve this frustrating problem?

Deauthorizing and reauthorizing my Mac solved the problem with not being able to sync newly imported CDs with my iPod Touch.
The problem with not being able to access some of my purchased iTunes music is a function of having 2 different iTunes accounts that I bought tunes with. I'll need to contact apple customer service to sort that one out.

  • Using headset with ipod touch and Skype

Trying to use headset with jack adapter on ipod touch using skype. Audio out is fine but mic doesn't seem to work. Will this work, or will I have to switch to the Apple earbuds with mic?

I have successfully tested Skype using a $20 pair of GE ear buds with microphone. It used the correct iPod Touch earphone/microphone jack.
I've also used this with voice recorder software, and so has my wife.

Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • I fixed my broken 3.3 IPOD TOUCH

My ipod touch broken after i install 3.3 software, it couldn't turn on when i press any buttons.I spent a half day to fix it , finally i did it!
All you need to do is set up another account in your PC , NOT ITUNES ACCOUNT!
They would automaically install software 2.2 for you , not the latest one, then restore it!
Restore using a new user account
Create a new user account on your computer and try to restore while logged in as the new user. iTunes will download a new version of the software restore file. After creating the new user, log in to that account and open iTunes and attempt to restore to see whether the issue persists in this new user.
Use these steps if you're not sure how to create a new user
    Windows Vista and Windows XP
1.From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
    2.Open User Accounts.
3.Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process.
4.Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu.
5.Log in to the newly created user account.
    Mac OS X
1.From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
    2.Choose View > Accounts.
3.Click the "+" (you may need to authenticate to be able to click this).
4.Give the new user a name and short name and enter a password.
5.Select the checkbox for "Allow user to administer this computer". This makes the user an administrator user.
    6.Click Create Account.
I hope you guys can fix your IPOD! =]

    RESOLVED!
Thanks bigmil87 for your message, I really appreciate your advice. I've put down a list below of what did and didn't work for me in case other people have this problem (advice: restore on another PC).
Also interested that 1604 is a USB timing issue - I think that my netbook may have powered down during the update causing some compatibility/timing issue when I fired it up again.
For anyone who catches the dreaded 1604 error this is what did and didn't work for me:
    1. What did not work for me:
o closing iTunes without disconnecting the iPod
o usual restore function (ie holding down home key and on switch)
    o deleting the ipsw file
o clean reinstall of all iTunes and associated software
o clean reinstall of all iTunes with earlier iTunes version
o changing the USB hub being used
o remounting (reloading driver) for USB
o creating new user account on same computer restoring while logged in as the new user
    2. What did work for me (yay)
o creating new user account on my friend's Windows Vista PC, logging into new user account, and downloading latest iTunes then plugging in the iTouch.
    3. Result:
I did the 'Sync of the century' on the original netbook and it restored everything with my App data intact (happy about that - I was on level 22 'Alive4Ever' all time best game out there).
One small issue is that my music is only 1/3 transferred, no idea why. Haven't tried to fix it yet but if anyone knows why this happens grateful for advice. (All the music is my own rip from CD using EAC via LAME out to mp3 320kbps, not iTunes purchases).
Scary thing is, I can't live without my iTouch - it is just too good - has everything I use every day (learning apps, music, games, podcasts etc)...when it went down I was in a panic.
When all is said and done and even though I admire Apple for their products and quality I'm not confident this release was tested fully and next release I will think twice before clicking 'yes' to the update option. It took half a day to get the restore going properly.

  • Cannot sync apps to ipod touch 64g

My girlfriend and I bought each other a 64g ipod touch. On my computer with windows XP, everything sync perfectly. On my girlfriend's, the music sync perfectly but when it comes to the apps, it says that her computer is not authorized...So we cancelled the computer and re-authorized it, to no use. It's getting frustrating...All the apps sync well with mine and the same apps cant sync with hers...
Everything is up to date: iTunes, ipod software, etc.
Please someone, let me know what is going wrong here!

We had this problem at our house. After investigation, turns out that iPod restrictions had been turned on, and one of the restrictions that was turned 'off' was "installing apps". You can get to the restrictions by going to general settings and scrolling to restrictions. If yours are on, you'll need to enter your passcode. On the next screen, see if the "installing apps" selection is on or off. If "off", then you will be unable to sync apps from iTunes. I turned this setting on, and our iPods were able to sync apps from iTunes as you would expect. Hope this helps someone.

That link works just fine for me.
Maybe it was down when you clicked on it. Try it again.

  • IOS 5 and broken Music app (iPod touch 3rd Gen)

    hi,
since the latest iOS 5 release, my music app has been behaving in a weird way. It's as if the app forgets whether it's in portrait or landscape mode (but that's oversimplifying the problem I think).
I took step-by-step screenshots of what happens when I open the music app: (keep in mind that even if the picure is shown as landscape, I was holding my iPod in the portrait mode (I realised I should've locked it into portrait, but forgot. Either way, the problem is still the same!)
    Opening the app:
    http://d.pr/i/jn2X
first problem, shows as if a video is loading (it is not!)
    http://d.pr/i/FcJl
and there it is, after the app "loads" the screen, it looks like the UI is messed up
    http://d.pr/i/syV4
    http://d.pr/i/jTcU
    http://d.pr/i/7pp1
Usually switching between screens on the bottom of the screen (playlists, artistis, genres etc.) will fix the UI problem.

Yes, it will work. Do a manual install, as outlined in the link below.

  • Broken headset jack

I just purchased the 8GB iPhone from Rogers on Friday. I tried to plug a headset into the device for the first time on Saturday and found it not to work. I was wondering who I would go through to have the unit fixed. I am a little disappointed that it most likely won't be replaced and I will have to live without my iPhone for another several weeks. The unit is only a couple days old and already broken. I would like to have the device fixed as quickly as possible. Would it be better to go through Rogers or Apple for my repair. Thanks for the help.

Well I know here in the US, Apple is the only place to go for repairs (assume it is the same for you). If there is an Apple store near you, they can replace on the spot. If not, they can mail you a box (and loaner if you want one at a small cost but you can talk them out of it maybe if you get the right person). Once you get the box you ship back (they pay) and under good circumstances, will have back in two days.

  • If I replace my LCD screen (broken) myself. Am I still under warranty for my broken headset jack?, If I replace my LCD screen (broken) myself. Am I still under warranty for my broken headset jack?

    Someone please varify

As the others have said, if you attempt to perform any hardware service on your iPod yourself, you will completely void the warranty. But if the iPod was dropped or otherwise damaged, the warranty is almost certainly void anyway, even for the headphone jack problem. Rather than trying to fix both problems yourself, you may wish to search the net for third-party repair services and see what they'd charge to fix both problems on your iPod.
