Broken hinges on print cartridge door OfficeJet 6310

I broke both hinges to the large "print cartridge door" that swings the top half of the 6310 up.  Any ideas where to get replacements?

The part # for the hinges is Q8052-40001.
Search the internet for the lowest cost on this part.
When you are ready to intall, Remove all ink cartridges first.
Open the cover.
Remove all screws on the plastic covering the print head mechanism, you will need a small star driver.
Remove the covers.
The small cover near the ribbon cables needs to stay with the ribbon cables.
Be very carefull not to damage the ribbon cables while replacing the hinges.
Check inside the hinges for screws holding them to the base unit.
Pull the top off with the hinges attached.
Remove the old hinges from the top. (If the hinges are intact and bent over, bend them over a little more and you will be able to fit a star driver down the tubular opening in the hinges.
I attached the new hings to the top using screws in the flanges that stick out, then bend the hinge a little more in the direction that they are bent already.  You will be able to fit the two other screws down the tubular holes in the hinges and insert a star driver into the tubes to start the screws.  Then I used a small sharpie behine the hinges on the flange side, I bent the hinges towards the front of the unit, and finished tightening the screws in the junction point of the hinges.
After the new hinges are attached to the top, insert the hinges in the base unit and replace all the screws that were removed previously.

    Hi geny,
I understand the cartridge door latch has broken.
I will be happy to help you.
This is a older model so you might not be able to get that part replaced.
I have provided the HP Parts Surfer. It doesn't look like a replaceable part.
If you can get it to connect and tape the door shut so the printer recognizes the door is closed, you might still be able to still use the printer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Officejet 7310 print cartridge door open error message

I have just tried replacing my black ink cartridge with a new one and it started giving a cartridge door is open error message. I have reinserted it several times and used old cartridges that were ok before but the same message remains. i have checked the colour door and the black door and the projecting wire is slightly loose as it looks like a piece of plastic that holds it in place has gone. I have tried using blue tack but it is now giving a message saying 'Error - remove the right cartridge and check it'. I can try supergluing the wire but I dont know if its this or not, or if the cartridge door sensor is playing up, but I don't know where this is? Can anyone help otherwise it looks like I will have to get a new printer?

The problem is the spring tension used to hold the cover open is stronger than the poorly designed weak hinges.
The way I solved it was to break both the hinges, (pretty easy to do just open and close the cover a few times),  lift the cover up being carefull not to break the ribbon cable (wires) from the cover to the base. Then I pryed out the lower spring plates, these are located in the hinge assembly of the printer and removed the black plastic plunger and  the large springs below it from both hinges. The cover wil now stay closed and allow you to print. You just have to be careful when changing the print cartridges as the cover can open too far now and possibly break the wires going to the top cover.

  • Trouble with B&W printer cartridge on Officejet 6210

I am getting no image from the B&W cartridge. The color cartridge seems fine. The Ink level of both cartiridges shows about 75% full. This is my 2nd or 3rd B&W cartridge, all HP. The print test page has no black showing, and so does the diagnostic page. There is a small pyramid of black ink, I believe, in the space below the B&W cartridge. Under the color cartridge there are spattered colors. Is this a case of dried up ink, or something else? If it is dried up ink ( I use the scanner and fax more than the printer), is there anything I can do about such a problem? Thanks!

    Hi vayankee1
Glad to hear the new cartridge is working ok for you
If the original cartridge you were having problems with still has ink and is within warranty (you can check the warranty ends date location here ) I would suggest contacting Phone Support for a replacement.
    Kind Regards

  • Two-sided printing with HP Officejet 6310

When I go to layout the two-sided printing option is off. I'm not able to click on it and turn it on for some reason. How can I fix that?
I have printed things double sided before with this printer. It's only with this computer that I haven't been able to.

    PeterBreis0807 wrote:
PS I have read the UserGuide and can still find no reference to two sided printing or any alternative description of the feature.

two sided printing isn't a feature belonging to Pages so there is no reason to describe it in Pages User Guide.
If it's described somewhere, it's in the System's Help.

  • HP6210 all in one broken hinge

One of the hinges on the cartridge door has broken in two places.  HP says there is no replacement part for the hinge.  Does anyone know of a work around so that the printer does not need to be discarded because of a broken plastic hinge?  Thank you.

  • Cartridge door on officejet j6480 all-in-one printer

the cartridge door on my officejet printer has come off/out of the back hinges and no matter what I do, it won't reconnect or close.  Any thoughts?

I opened my cartridge too far and it came off its hinges.  How do I get it back installed ?  There appears that nothing is broken.

  • J6480 Ink Cartridge Door Hinges Broke. Door Open error message won't let me print. What can I do?

Have always been very careful with cartridge & scanner doors.  Pressing OK doesn't remove error message.  Broken hinges will no longer go down, so Door Open message won't go away and preventing printing.

The problem is the spring tension used to hold the cover open is stronger than the poorly designed weak hinges.

  • HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer won't print in color with new cartridge

HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer  on a iMAC  OSX version 10.9.5 system
    Hello,
As I don't print in color much but had need to I discovered my printer not printing in color.  I trouble shooted and even replaced with an new HP95 new from Office Depot ( I never buy refilled).  The printer still won't print color but it advances the paper as if it was printing - just no ink on paper.  I have cleaned thoroughly the ink jet heads, cartridge area, and run all the alignment and printer utilities.    The test page print does not show color either.   I have no error messages.  Don't know what else to do.
    thanks

    Hi there @dhengr!
Thanks for contacting the HP Forums!
I can see your having a print quality issue with your HP OfficeJet 6310.  I should be able to provide documentation that will help locate a resolution.  You mentioned you have already tried another  HP95 tri-color cartridge with no resolution.  I also noticed you said that the quality report from the printer also has no color ink.
If a stand alone test report is performed from the front of the printer such a printhead cleaning or print quality report and there is no color on the page then you are likely looking at a hardware issue within the printer.  I have provided a document regarding Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors on the HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer.  If you follow the document from start to finish and still have the same issue then I would recommend contacting our HP tech support via phone.  They deal with hardware warranty and replacement options.

  • Officejet 6310 prints solid black line instead of text.

Good day. My officejet 6310 has started printing a 3/8" solid black line instead of text. I've replaced both color and black cartridges. I've also run align and clean cartridges. Does anyone have helpful suggestions?

This type of result is often due to errors in the HP printer drivers. Several things can be tried. Sometimes, using a tested driver for an older, but compatible printer will do the job. A lot of folks used the use the HPLJ2 driver even with HPLJ3 and 4 systems. Another option is to try to print as a graphic. At this point, I can only suggest playing around with things. A lot of folks like the graphic driver aspect instead.
You might also consider printing to the printer in a PS mode rather than PCL if that option is available.
I am only suggesting things I have seen tried by various folks. I don't have a good explanation.
