Why they can repair ipad2 for free.
I don't think I can repair it for free at Taiwan but the price is really too expensive the new 16G wifi iPad 2 is 15500NT. I change the glass will cost 14000NT.
I have iPhone 4 and I Mac but broken this iPad 2 glass make me so disppoint with Apple

Getting a free repair for damage you caused is extremely rare and is not normal Apple policy. Those two people were just very lucky.
If you crashed your car would you expect the manufacturer to fix it for free?
You should be disappointed in yourself for dropping the iPad, not Apple - it wasn't Apple's fault you did that, so why should they lose money fixing it for free?

i backed up my broken ipad to my computer yesterday, returned it to Apple & got it replaced today and have now accidently backup'd on my computer over the top of my original Ipad Back up from yesterday.  Can anyone advise how do I get previous copy of my back up??

Look at this knowledge base article on iOS backups to iTunes, note where the backups are kept for your type of computer, Windows or Mac, go to that Library location and see if there are any other files with the same name as the current backup but with a different extension and date/time stamp.  If so you can edit the extension of the current backup and then change the extension of the previous backup so it looks like what was on the current and the do a restore.  iTunes will think the older backup is now new and use it to restore.
If there are no such files then you over-wrote the backup and it is gone.

  • Combining Data from a Broken iPad with Another iPad.

My fiance replaced her iPad with a broken screen with a brand new one.  When we left the Genius Bar, the Genius told her to go home and back it up from iTunes (she synced the old one prior to leaving for the store).  I thought she would take care of it, but unfortunately she didn't, and began using it straight away.  Now, a month after using it, she's realized that there were some things on the broken iPad that she needed.  BUT, now that she's been using the new iPad, she has lots of info on it.
Does anyone know if it's possible to somehow add the data from the old iPad, without losing the new data she's acquired.
    Thanks,
    michael

Not now. She should have restored from the backup of the old iPad before she started using the new iPad. If she transfers the data from the new iPad into iTunes now she will overwrite the old backup.

  • Broken ipad 2 screen, 3months old, will Apple uk replace?

Hi Guys, my 6 year old dropped our ipad 2 onto a tiled floor & shattered the screen, the ipad is still working, and i have an appointment at the local Apple genius bar Sunday, i think i may have to pay £246 for the repair, so wondered if any of you good people had any suggestions on how to blag a free repair, i will be taking my son along, and beleive me he will be crying! (we have been practising all week)

    Update on broken ipad 2.......................
i know your all dying to know what happened!!!!
popped along to the Apple store on sunday with my son (no he didn't cry ,) i think he found his utopia,Apple store with its array of shiny ipads, ipods and Macs.We was met by one of the staff, he was very helpful, explained the two options, either claim on the house hold insurance & pay the excess or pay Apple £240 to replace the ipad. we went for the second option and agreed to pay Apple.
at that point he explained how sorry he was for the unfortunate accident & gave us a 10% discount (of which i will invest in acting lessons for my child ) A JOKE!!!!
A protective case is now on my shopping list, with new rules in our house hold, If the ipad is to be use by my son he can only use it from the comfort of the non tiled very soft sofa.
and they all lived happily ever after
    the end

  • Can you trade a broken ipad for a new one?

Can you trade in a broken iPad for a new one?

Well, I think my answer was more accurate.  The answer is yes rather than no.  Also, the fee you mention must only be a possible fee.  Given that the original iPad was only launched 14 months ago, odds are good the OP is still under warranty.

  • Syncing a broken ipad

Is it possible to sync all data from my daughters broken ipad if I cannot enter a passcode or anything on the screen ?

At least you got her photos!
First, have you tried a reset? Hold down the Sleep (top right) and home buttons for ten to fifteen seconds until the Apple logo appears. Does it start that way?
If the ipad is under warranty and Apple cannot fix it, all they will do if you take it to an Apple store is offer a replacement at a cost. I'm not sure what they'll do if you send it in.
If you bought Apple Care +, they will fix it for a small fee.
I am reluctant to recommend this (I've never done this,) and I just googled it but haven't found any of the many threads on this support site, but many, many people have put the ipad on their lap and have given it a firm but gentle smack on the back and it works.
I'm hoping the reset will do it.

  • About broken ipad screen

My ipad screen got broken, but theres not much of a problem becouse its only small spot in the corner and im wondering is it necesery to change this glass? can broken glass become wider ?

I have heard of people just sticking on a screen protector and continuing to use it.  If you can bear doing that, what can it hurt?  If the cracks do grow, you'll have to replace the screen on your own dime, but that's what you'd have to do right now to fix it.  So it wouldn't change anything to wait and see what happens.

  • Quality of iPad 2 glass?

I fell asleep whilst reading kindle on my iPad 2, and woke to find my iPad had fallen off the bed and had cracked from one corner of the screen spreading through the screen. I have had it for less than 2 months and I am extremely disappointed in the quality of apple.I look after my things and even have a protective case, and the height of the fall was not high. Is this the quality of apple? Is the screen not supposed to have some gorilla glass? I find it pointless to design something so light and multi functional but have such poor sustainability. If I read a hardcover book in bed and it fell, it wouldn't brake.
My retailer says they have to charge me to fix it due to negligence.no 1 I don't feel I was being negligent and secondly the repair costs are outrageous. Everything else is working normally though... Just a broken screen.

  • IPad Air glass break

-anyone else experience any broken glass? I ask because i had the iPad Air for about 31.5 hours, only used it for about 20 minutes other than the Apple representative that set it up fo rme in the stor, and the glass shattered at the thumb / home button area.  wonder if thinner = more glass breakage. still have 3 others in household with no damage and two of those belong to my twin 9 years old boys and other to my wife for business needs.  This is my first iPad.  Genius bar said it will be at least a week for replacement even though they have new ones in store.  With my Apple care it will cost about $49.  I realize the Genius doesn't know me from the next person, but in a leather case (from wifes ipad 3) but it wasnt hit, banged, dropped.  Disappointed.

Well i also was skeptical before when i heard that other people saying about iPhone/iPad screens were broken on it's own. When i dropped my iPhone and broke the screen for a first time i also referred to apple forum trying to find solution to repair. And there i saw that people were claiming that screens were broken on it's own. I didn't really believe it then especially since i own now and owned in the past multiple apple products. i didn't think it could happen until... it happened to me! So it showed to me that you shouldn't be skeptical to other people remarks! also since i found out how fragile iPad screens are i ordered thick tempered glass screen protector for it. Hopefully if i ever get my new replacement iPad i'll use it for extra protection. i have one like this on my iPhone and it works great, it looks like it would give it better protection then just film.
Another little update about my case: I still couldn't send damaged iPad yesterday out to apple. Apparently even know that most of my other experiences with Apple CS for my multiple apple devices was good and easy, this time it's problematic even now 4 days later i'm now sure how it'll work out. I guess AC CS have some incompetent reps there that don't know what they're doing. Till now i only have their promises to replace it but not yet any actions. To make it short i'll just did what i was instructed to do by apple rep. on Monday and the same instructions were given to me via e-mail: just bring my iPad to local UPS store, give them the repair ID and they would take it and ship it out to apple, and then the replacement one will be mailed to me. it sounded easy enough until i got to UPS store yesterday did as i was instructed to, obviously UPS guy deals with this all the time, as the first thing he ask when he saw me walking in with iPad: "are you sending out Apple repair?" But after i gave him case # to my surprise he couldn't find it in the computer. So again a long call from UPS office to AC to find out what's going on. They put me on hold for about 30-40 min, as the rep. that helped me originally had a day off so other people were trying to figure out my case. But finally they told me that it has to be mailed by Fed Ex not UPS, and i should receive a Fed Ex box with the instructions how to pack and ship it. After e-mailing to original rep that set up my case, he got back to me, saying that he originally set it up for UPS drop off but for some reason a box was sent to me after he set up a drop off repair. He apologized for the inconvenience and said that i should get the box within 2 business days, but today is the 3rd business day since the day i called and i still don't have the box. Hoping maybe it'll arrive today or no later tomorrow. But as a result to all this i waisted en extra hour between going to UPS and then being on hold on the phone trying to find out whats going on and that is to addition to 3 hours on monday before between going to Genius bar and being on the phone with AC originally. Plus i had to erase my iPad yesterday before drop of and then downloading my stuff back again because i use it for work and it's inconvenient enough to be without it while it will be shipped out, but now since i'm not really sure how long it can take before i can even ship it, i better continue to use the broken one.

  • Should i be able to replace my broken ipad in jeddha apple store?

    hi apple family
i bought an ipad 2 from sydney apple store more than a year ago.it's no warranty since its been more than a year.my ipad screen has broken down after i have been Bangladesh.I have a plan to visit jeddha in the last of this month.should i be able to replace/fixup my ipad in jeddha apple store? looking for an authentic answer.
    Best regards
    Irfan.

It should charge independetely from the fact that it you are watching videos or not (at least mine does), eventhough it might take longer.
Are you sure the charger is ok? Mine started giving me some problems and it would charge some times and others it didn't. Therefore I thought it was the computer and not the charger (usually they just burn and death is a quick, not a process). Turns out it was some contact thing. I am sure that you established the right connection to the video watching, but maybe you just seat more confortable in the sofa and the contact is lower...?
Also, people at the apple store did not encourage me at all to buy a more powerful charger. They said it is best to use the same power it came with...
