Broken iphone won't turn on and REALLY HOT !!! when plugged in

i just bought this iphone off of ebay for giggles. did not know a thing about it but that it would not turn on and i just assumed it was the battery. restore and nothing like that works. My computer won't recognize it. When you plug it in whether a wall jack or a computer via usb it gets really hot to the point where you can't touch it. Now before I hack it apart and try my best to put an ebay battery in it. would apple take it back even though it is out of warranty due to safety reasons? has anyone else had this problem? any fixes?

ok so the person who had it before had it plugged into a car charger and then it didn't work. is it just the battery or is it totally fried?

It is normal for an iPod to become warn when charging. Have you tried the troubleshooting here:

Try plugging it into the charger. Unfortunately, without a functioning sleep/wake button, it will be diffucult to do a number of troubleshooting steps. See if it will start that way. If not, you may need to leave it for a period to see if the battery will die out and then plugging it in may restart it. Otherwise, you will need to take the device to Apple to see about repair/replacement.

My iphone won't turn on and wont connect to itunes

I just got an iphone 4s from a close friend who was going to throw it away because they gave up on this problem and i dont want to. The iphone has never been exposed to water and I'm sure it's fine. It looks brand new, no scratches or anything of the sort.
I have tried charging it. I have tried connecting it to itunes (itunes wont find it no matter what i do. I have even restarted my computer with the iphone hooked up to it and that did not work either.)
I have tried to enter DFU mode. Nothing comes up. I am presuming that it is dead but I'm not sure. As i said, I just got it and it was from a friend. I have held down the home and start buttons for numerous amounts of time and nothing seems to be working. Is it actually a piece of trash? What should i do? I really want to fix this, as this may be my only chance to actually own an iphone.
Apparently at one time it did work. I'm not sure when it was broken or how it was broken but I am unsure of what to do.

IPhone won't turn on and a blue LED light before

When I picked up my iPhone to use it this strange LED light came on whenever you have flashlight on or camera flash on. All of a sudden it turned off and then I plugged it in and it acted like it needed to be charged and then it turned on. While the LED light is still on. I closed out flashlight and went to the camera app. When I opened up the camera app even though the flash was set to off the LED light went off. Then it showed the warning sign that my iPhone was overheating. It later shut off and my dad told me to hold the power button down for 10 seconds and then something was suppose to pop up I guess? I don't exactly remember what he said. But now the apple screen shows up for a few seconds and then it shuts down for another few seconds. I don't know what to do because it won't even turn on so I can restore it. HELP!!!

Have you tried to charge the phone? Plug it into a charger and leave it there for 30 minutes.
Then try to turn it on again and see if that works.
If the light was left on too long I "guess" it could cause the phone to get hot but probably more for a rapid discharge of the battery.

IPhone won't turn off and won't sync even after I plug in my computer.

My iPhone started acting odd after my husband updated it to iOS5. It started with when I touch the apps, it responded with delay. Today, when I want to check my email. The app just simply not responding to any touch on the screen. I tried to turn off to restart, but it won't turn off. So I plug in my computer try to sync see if that can somehow makes it "budge". I successfully upload the new photos from iPhone to my MacBookPro, but after that, it won't "sync". The "sync" bottom on the itune page stay "gray". I cannot click on it. What should I do?

Try a Reset...
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release the buttons..

My iphone won't turn on and i have tried everything possible but right now, I cannot retrieve the data from it and it will not connect to my computer whatsoever, so is there a way to retrieve my pictures and data?

i have been frustrated all day and been going around asking Apple experts about this and it has to my decision to get a new phone since it's out of warranty but I want the images I have on the broken iPhone. Is there any possible way to retrieve it.

Are you sure that the battery is not empty: when the battery is VERY empty (that is when it was on and a long time off the charger) it may take an hour or even more to start charging with the charger connected. When you have an iPad charger you can also use that one, and it charges a bit faster.

I recently got an iphone from a friend because I was never able to afford one. It's quite old, and he told me it hasn't worked in a while. He said that either the battery of the sync/charger port was no longer functioning; because one day when he was using it the battery drained relatively fast and after that it would no longer turn on. The unit itself is in brand new condition, he used a case and a screen protector, and both water damage indicators are completely white! He said it no longer connects to itunes, is no longer recognized by any computer, the screen no longer turns on, and there is absolutely no activity on the phones part. Therefore he no longer had any use for it and gave it to me, and wished me luck in my goal to fix it. Since receiving it i've gone through the normal solutions, i've tried resetting it and putting it into DFU mode by holding both the sleep/wake button and the home button to no avail. I've tried it on all 3 of my computers (although they are all fairly old) and on my fiancées computer. My fiancée has a working iphone 3g and I've tried connecting my phone using her computer and sync cable. All to no avail. I am positively clueless as to what the problem is, the phone has never been opened and theres not even a scratch on it! I can't afford a new iphone and the unit itself is an original iphone (2g/edge) so obviously the warranty is no longer active and he did not have applecare either. The phone has a serial number on the back of it if that would be of any use, I honestly would just like to know what is wrong with it, but i'm beginning to doubt that its even possible due to the phone not responding at all. Please help me with my issue =/.

I have the exact same issue with an old original iphone and have all but given up. I want to sell the old phone, but I am afraid that there might be some information left (it is a family members phone so I don't want to do that to him). If there is no way to fix it, is there at least a way to erase content without turning the phone on? Seems unlikely.

Iphone won't turn on, and says 'unknown error 2009' when trying to restore?

this morning my iphone turned off and wouldn't turn on. I plugged it into the charger and it said to connect it to itunes. Once i finally did that, at first it couldnt detect it but now it keeps telling me an iphone has been detected in recovery mode and to sync it I need to restore it.
Here's the problem, everytime i try to restore it, it comes up with something along the lines of, it cannot restore becvause of 'unknown error 2009' and as soon as i unplug the phone it turns off. What can I do?

Hello, my xperia z1 battery was drained off. i charge it with a galaxy charger but it didn't work then after went home i charged it with the original charger and tried to turn it on but it didn't, i left it over the night to charge then i woke up on a 3 continuous vibration sound, it kept vibrating till i disconnected the charger but it didn't turn on at all.. and every time i tried to put it to charge or connect it to pc with its USB cable it keep vibrating till i disconnect it. i don know if this could caused the problem but i used it to film videos in the pool but it was working very fine after that for more than 3 hours then when the battery was totally empty this happened. i tried mostly everything. i tried pressing volum up/down with the power button, i tried the red button beside the sim card slot, i tried connecting it to the pc with PC companion running repair but nothing work. it won't turn on, nothing from the LED indicators, just RED & Blue flickers appear wehn connecting to charger or to PC with the USB cable. anyone can help with anything that could solve this problem. Try to follow these steps: perform a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
