Broken LCD, repair/replace?

I'll be honest: I dropped my phone in water for a short period of time, immediately removed the battery, sucked water out of the speaker grill out from between the two screens, put it in a bag of rice for more than a day, and found out it boots, plays through the speaker, touchscreen works, may or may not charge, and the inner LCD doesn't work.
That little red sticker voids my warranty that only has 2 months left on it anyway, so what will it cost to have Verizon/motorola change the LCD and possibly the USB port?

If you've got insurance, this should be covered. I can't remember off the top of my head what the deductible is. $50? $100?
Or another option is to go to one of those phone repair stores (like in malls or something like that) However, I have found those to be fairly pricey. I got quoted for a broken outter EnV2 screen the other day - $75 JUST for that screen to be replaced. I can't imagine how much a DX screen would cost.

  • Ipod touch 4g dock and lcd repair/replacement costs

I have recently broke my ipod's lcd screen in a unneccesary attempt to repair the dock connector. I am concerned that it may have voided my warranty, and I haven't taken it apart fully. I have found out the answer to why my ipod stopped syncing about 2 months ago and has recently been unable to charge because I attempted to get the metal prongs back in place, which may have also voided my warranty. I bought my ipod touch in April 2012 and it broke in December to the point where it is unusable. My budget is pretty flat and i'm wondering how much the repair cost would be and if I should consider buying a new ipod touch or getting the one I have now repaired. I cannot find any place where I can get it repaired at a discount price, and I'm also wondering if I can get my ipod repaired at no charge since it is still less than a year old.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 8, 16 or 32 GB one or $199 for 64 GB one. They do not fix yours.
A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more.

Replace the screen yourself. However. replacing the dock connector is very hard.

  • Replaced iPod screen myself, screen not working. Will i be eligible to get a screen   LCD repair from Apple ?

I dropped my ipod by accident and i decided to repair the ipod myself by buying a screen off eBay. I replaced the the screen and everything was working when i tested the iPod before screwing the backplate back on. When i closed the iPod, it had a white screen when i power up. I held the power and home button for 30 second and nothing happens. The power button still powers the screen on and home, and when i hold it down it powers off the iPod.Replaced iPod screen myself, screen not working. Will i be eligible to get a screen + LCD repair from Apple ?
Will i still be eligible to get a screen + LCD repair from Apple ?

    No, you are not eligible.

No, i don't have warranty. I never had warranty.

  • Cracked iPhone 5 Screen. Will Apple repair/replace this?

So I bought an iPhone 5 off craigslist, and a week later I drop it off the 2nd floor
Completely shattered the screen, the lcd won't light up at all, and the home button flew off(still have it)
I can still get calls/texts, I hear my ringtone and the phone vibrates, but I can't see or use the screen. The bezel also slightly bent at the top near the volume button.
Will Apple repair/replace this? I know they charge $229 for user damage repairs, but will my phone be covered due to the amount of damage??

" I know they charge $229 for user damage repairs, but will my phone be covered due to the amount of damage??"
Only Apple can tell you this.

  • I want to fix my broken lcd scr

becauase I dont believe I have all the money that creative is asking for to fix it I was just wondering if anybody knew where you could find the lcd part for the creative zen vision m

Call Apple - 1-800-275-2273, but be advised that a broken LCD screen is not covered under warranty and you will be charged accordingly (somewhere around $130).
My personal advice is to send it to a third party repair company. This will cost you far less than sending it to Apple.

  • Restart screen and no volume after LCD display replacement

    Hello All,
I recently replaced a broken LCD display on my Powerbook G4. It starts up fine and I can even use my laptop for certain things. However, I get no sound and when I try and play songs off of itunes, quicktime files or any program that requires video or sound I get the "you need to restart your computer" screen. Any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
    Jay

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you replace the screen yourself, you may have missed some cable connections.
If the clock battery is over 4 years old, I'd get it replaced.
If the clock battery is under 4 years old, check these articles:

If you had someone else replace the screen, ask them to fix the damage they did which left you without audio and is causing kernel panics.

  • Broken LCD

    Hi,
First i would like to state that i am not trying to convince anyone to accept my case as a warranty one.  But if i know i am right, than i  am right.
As a long fan of thinkpads i upgraded to T530.  Upgraded because of speed and windows 7. And thinkpad because of everyday on road use. Roll cage and tough structure.  My work require precise action and care so i am quite a proffessional to take things serous.
So after 2 month of happy use one morning i found the laptop with a broken lcd.  No outside damage visible on both side of the screen.  Talked to the dealer and of course the " you must have done so and so " followed.  To be honest the very few things that freaks me out if someone says i am lying...Anyway there is much more important things than fight for nothing.  Though the customer is always right.  I do not care if there are some exceptions...
Anyway ordered a new part, and it will repaired.
My question is however: can an lcd panel of a thinkpad with roll cage break spontaneusly wihtout external force?
    thanks
    Andrew

There's a chance that stress on the panel could have accumulated small fractures over (relatively) normal use. A heating cooling cycle (overnight?) may be enough to set things in motion.
I don't think this happens very often though.

  • IMac LCD screen replaced, Blue Screen startup

Hi there, I just had the LCD screen replaced on my late 2007 Aluminum iMac today (due to a permanent red vertical streak) by an Applecare certified technician. He did a meticulous job with the replacement, and the iMac booted up just fine afterwards. About an hour later, though, I tried starting up the iMac and after the grey screen with the Apple logo it gets stuck on a blue screen with a constantly spinning pinwheel.
Now I tried everything, booting up in Safe Mode, Single User Mode, resetting the PRAM, FSCK, Disk Utility using Disk Repair, unplugging the power cord for 30 seconds, etc. and nothing seems to work. It just gets stuck on a blue screen whenever it tries to boot up.
Just wanted to see if there is anything else I could try out before I give Apple a call tomorrow, if this boot up problem is a result of the new LCD screen replacement or what? Any help or insight in the matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Update: I should note that right now I'm in the (lengthy) process of restoring from a Time Machine save to see if that helps out in any way.

You could try the following first, but a repair may be required.
iMac G5: Fails to startup (From an article at MacFixit)
Some users are reporting an issue where iMac G5s fail to properly startup -- apparently at a hardware level -- never reaching the Mac OS X startup splash screen (Apple logo with a spinning progress indicator).
Note that in cases where the system does reach the Mac OS X startup splash screen or further progression but stalls, software issues may be to blame.
    Potential fixes
Disconnect external devices External devices -- especially those that draw power from the system -- can cause issues with startup that manifest either at the beginning of or later in the boot process. Try temporarily any external FireWire or USB devices then re-attempt startup and check for persistence of the issue.
Reset SMU Although this workaround was not successful in Connors' case, resetting the iMac G5's SMU (system management unit) as described in Apple Knowledge Base article #301733 can resolve a variety of power-related problems, including sudden-onset startup failure.
Check power cables Check your power cord for a loose connection. As noted in the aforementioned reader case, unplugging and re-plugging the power cord can sometimes result in a successful startup -- likely the result of a more snug fit.
Also, power cables can become defective or ship in such a state.
Try exchanging the power cable from a problematic machine with a system that starts up properly to eliminate this as a potential cause.

  • Broken LCD Scr

I have a Zen V Plus 2GB black/green mp3 player and after letting my sister borrow it, I have a broken LCD screen that doesn't show anything at all. Would somebody be willing to give me the "button sequence" to get to Random Play All on an unconfigured menu from Now Playing? And a link to request an out-of-warranty repair for when I get the money to get it fixed?

Sorry to hear that, you have to contact your local Xperia Care

  • IdeaPad S400 with broken lcd screen

    Hi friends
I need to replace a broken lcd screen in my laptop, the original screen is N140BGE-LB2, i tryed to replace with a many different types like HB140XW1-300 and N140BGE-L42 but these screens are incompatible. N140BGE-LB2 is out of stock, what i have to do now ?

Usually if you been syncing or backing up with iTunes, you won't need to unlock your phone for it to backup.
Sounds like you've haven't done that.  IF you backup to icloud and your phone is currently connected to wifi, then plug to a power source and let it backup.
If both of the above doesn't work, then there is nothing else you can do to backup your data.
You could go to a 3rd party and have them replace your screen but that would void all your warranty with Apple.
Or you can call your nearest Apple store and see if they offer screen replacement.

  • I cant get itunes on my new laptop.  My laptop says I have to remove itunes from another computer as I can only have it on 5.  Problem is that apart from my ipad, I no longer have the others as they were either broken beyond repair or lost.  Any ideas?

I am not good with computers.  I am trying to get my iTunes onto this new laptop but it says I am only allowed to have it on 5 computers and I must take it off one to ut it on this new laptop.  Problem is, apart from my iPad, I have lost one laptop and two have been broken beyond repair so I am unable to take it off!  Anyone any ideas?  I have tried to get iTunes support but cant get past the "date of purchase" as I can only guess when I bought my ipod (2009)

    Hang on...
You can only authorise the songs you purchase from the iTunes Store to play on five computers.
You can download and install iTunes (the iTunes programme) onto as many computers as you wish.
    Two different things.
Assuming therefore, that your problem is that you have authorised five computers, but now no longer have some of them, you need to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise the computers you still have.
To de-authorise your computers, go to your account in the iTunes Store and look for the Deauthorise All button.
