Broken letter tray flap on Officejet Pro printer

Is there anywhere to buy a replacement part for the Officejet Pro 8600? I checked HP's replaceable parts list for this printer and don't see the part I need.  It's a plastic part that pulls out and stops the paper from flying out when the paper is coming out of the printer. It has a flap that you can flip up, to stop the paper and keep it in place once its printed, or you can flap it down. It snapped off and don't know where to get a replacement.

It's called the output tray.

  • How do I print standard 6 3/4" standard size envelopes from an hp 8600 officejet pro printer?

How do I print 6 3/4" standard size envelopes from an hp 8600 officejet pro printer. This printer has this size on the tray and has this size listed in the printer set up on the printer, but the drop down boxes from my computer to set up the printer do not have this standard size listed. I keep getting messages on my printer that it is not set for the right size. I have a list of supported envelopes and their numbers for this printer but which one of these other numbers is the same as the 6 3/4" standard size envelope. I have an operating system of windows 7 with an older version of publisher. Everything else prints ok from publisher & the printer, just not the standard size envelopes of 6 3/4".
    Please help!

    Hi indy-girl,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to print 6 3/4" envelopes from your HP Officejet Pro 8600, but keep getting an error 'printer that it is not set for the right size'. After taking a look at the Supported envelopes sizes, the 6 3/4 is not supported. See below:
I was able to take a look at the 8600, the only thing I am seeing listed on the paper tray is Legal/Letter, and the 4x6". I am not seeing the 6 3/4 size.
    I hope this helps!

  • HP 8600 Officejet Pro print light/dark control

    HP 8600 Officejet Pro e-All-in-One
    Windows XP
Is there any way to darken the black print on my machine? The copy feature offers this feature but I can't find anything for printing purposes.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The only option to darken the text is to change the print quality to its highest setting. To do so, please follow the steps listed below.
In the software program you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print . The Print dialog box will open.
Select your product from the Name drop-down menu, and then click Properties . The Properties dialog box will then open.
    Click the Paper/Quality tab.
Under Quality Settings you will be able to increase the print quality.

  • 8500 officejet pro printing isues

My 8500 has not printed well in black after the first month. I have lines through black print on 2 or 3 lines per page. Those line are not readable. I've tried everything the trouble shooting recommended numerous time. I've wasted so much ink trying to fix this I've given up a started printing to an old printer. This has been nothing but trouble and frustration for me.

    Hi Windsprints,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.

    Hi Duke515,
    Thanks for the reply!
I can certainly understand why you'd think it's not meant to work, but it definitely should.
There are drivers available for your operating system and the 8500 Wireless, so please click here to download said drivers and let me know if this seems to work or not.
If not, please try downloading and running the HP Printer Install Wizard and let me know if it works.

  • HP Officejet Pro 7680 all in one printer

I have a 7680 officejet pro printer which is not fully printing the black text on print jobs which are not set to " fine" on the print function.  I have replaced the cartridge and tried several times to clean the printhead using the machine's "clean printhead" function.  Is there a way to manually remove and clean the printhead using some type of solution or tool?  do I need to buy another printhead?

If the printer has an ethernet port, try using it instead of USB printing. Usually faster and more stable. We have an HP 6280 AIO wired via ethernet directly to our Airport Extreme base station. It is printing for three wired Macs and two wireless. Rock-solid, even on the G4 MDD which has a tendency to exhibit sleep problems with some USB devices.
A standard cat5 patch cable should be all you need. You may need to change the connectivity settings in the Printer System Preferences, but I suspect your OS will recognize the printer immediately.
If your computer has an ethernet port, it may be fitted with a yellow plastic shipping protector that will need to be removed to expose the port.

  • Cannot print to HP Officejet Pro iPad can't find printer?

  • Officejet pro 8500A connected via wireless, but not accessible....

I can t access my officejet pro printer via wifi, after a firmware upgrade last week. I can print however from my iPad, but not from my laptop. Both are connected to the same wireless signal. I can see in my printer and router that both are connected. When I connect the printer via a cable to the router, it works.
As said, I lost this after firmware update.
    I tried:
Update the software on my laptop : no Improvement
Switch on/off the router, printer, laptop : no improvement....
Can anybody help? Would a downgrade offirmware help? Anybody familiar with this problem?
    Laptop : W7-64

The workgroup shouldn't matter. It's strange that the printer will communicate with the laptop as long as one of them is connected via Ethernet to the router. It shouldn't be doing that at all. It has to be something in the router. I know you mentioned using a different router and it worked just fine. Problem is I'm not sure why this router isn't working right. I'm sure the printer is out of warranty, which is why I'm sure you came to the forums first, but you may need to contact HP tech support. They should be able to remote in and find the setting that's blocking communication. II'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link will take you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it out and it is processed, it will give you the printers warranty information, a case number, and the phone number to call.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8630 won't print from tray 2; says there's no paper

    Action: Print from tray 2.
Expected Results: Paper feeds from tray 2 and prints.
Actual Results: Printer displays "out of paper" dialog.
Notes: Ever since I purchased the Officejet Pro 8630 six or eight months ago, tray 2 has not functioned. It says there's no paper in that tray. I've tried multiple types of letter sized paper. I've inspected the bottom of the main printer unit and the top of tray 2 for signs of damage; there doesn't seem to be any.
Tray 1 works just fine. It's actually a fantastic printer. The best I've owned. If only Tray 2 would work.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Paper Tray Jammed crooked in printer

Paper tray is jammed crookedly in printer.  It will not come all they way out of printer and will not completely close (remains 1 1/2" Exposed.  How do I remedy?

Hello @LadyLou1, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing jam issues.  I'd like to help!
I would recommend starting by removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also suggest following the steps laid out in this document:

  • Hp officejet Pro 8100 Printer Tray

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8100 printer. I removed the paper tray this morning to load paper and now I can't get it to slide back in all the way. It stops about 4 inches short of closing.  I feel like an idiot! How can I have problems sliding a drawer in?  Are there any clips etc. that I should have in place, etc. that might have come off?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
You might try lifting the front of the printer to see if anything is obstructing from your desk.  It should slide right back in.

  • Paper Jam error message due to broken gear on Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer

3 year old HP Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer (haven't used it much). Keeps telling "Paper Jam" although there is no paper jammed anywhere (searched meticulously with a flashlight after watching HP's tutorial videos on how to clear paper jams). I started searching on the Internet and found a couple of related videos on Youtube that pointed me in the right direction:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMFW1RRlDHEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwbF2Vs_0gQ  I could hear a clicking noise on that area of the printer each time I turned it on, so I carefully took the black cap apart that was hidding the gear, and confirmed I had the same problem as in the youtube videos above. See picture below showing the white plastic gear part that has a large crack which causes the Paper Jam error message and renders the printer unusable. After Googling a little bit, seems like a relatively common issue and wonder why such a part like that is not made of a stronger material like metal (planned obsolescence maybe?). Does anybody know if there is a way of replacing the broken gear?  (I really care for the environment and I would like to avoid having to throw the relatively new and expensive all-in-way printer away) Thanks a lot in advance for the advice!

Hey ,  Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.  I do see that a cracked gear in your HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer is impeding all functionality.  I would like to help you with this but that particular part is not replaceable.  I recommend you reach out to our tech support team to find out what servicing options you have available. • Tutorial: Print index cards without removing paper from tray for Officejet Pro 8000.

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 and Officejet Pro 8000 wireless do not have a slot for inserting index cards and envelopes.
If you are wanting to print index cards without removing the paper from the tray, follow these steps.
The steps below are for 3 x 5 index cards.
    1.) Open Microsoft Word
2.) Go to the Insert tab and insert a rectangle shape
3.) Draw a rectangle of any size
4.) Right click on the rectangle and select "Format Autoshape..."
5.) Under the Size tab, enter 5" for the height and 3" for the width (make sure "Absolute" is selected)
6.) Under the Layout tab, select "Center" for the horizontal alignment
    7.) Click OK
8.) Use the keyboard up arrow key to move the rectangle to the top of the page.  Make sure the top edge of the rectangle touches the top edge of the document.
9.) Print this document on plain 8.5" x 11" paper
10.) When you want to print an index card, place this 8.5x11 document in the paper tray printed side face up.  Then place an index card over the rectangle and align with the border of the rectangle.  After you print the index card, remove the 8.5x11 paper for the next time you need to print an index card.
Note 1: This are USA instructions.  If you live in the UK or other countries you may have different paper size standards.

I can't tell you how much I HATE this printer.  I will never buy an HP product again.  BROTHERS printers are simply and easy to use.
