  • Many of my photos appear briefly as I scroll down the page then disappear leaving a box outlined with a broken-line.  The menu bar says that I have 300 pictures hidden, but I am unable to get them unhidden.

I am experiencing difficulty with iPhoto '11.  Some of more recent photos can not be accessed.  As I scroll down the page of photos, the most recent ones appear briefly, then disappear to be replaced with a box outlined by a broken-line.  The menu bar says that I have 317 photos hidden.  Hiding photos is not something that I normally do, can't imagine why these are hidden.  Anyway, when I try to unhide the photos, I can view them as an event, but if I click on a single photo, or try to move it into an album, the photo does not display.  Instead I get a dark exclamation point within a triangle.  Another problem with these same photos is on the event page there is no key photo for these events only a dark screen.  I can't find an answer to my problem.  Has anyone experienced this?  What is the problem and how can I correct it?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Line style of Word tables is ignored. Broken lines or dotted lines appear as uninterrupted lines

    Bug in Adobe XI:
The line style of Word tables is ignored. Broken lines or dotted lines in Word tables are shown as normal uninterrupted lines in PDF file.
    For example, in my Word document I choose the following line styles in tables: dotted line (.........................) or broken line ( - - - - - - - - - - - - ).
In the PDF file, all lines are shown as normal uninterrupted lines (__________________), even if I zoom in 800% or more.
Is there a solution for this problem? (In FreePDF, it works well, but FreePDF has other disadvantages and therfore is no solution for me.)

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • IPhoto: No pictures only broken-line/square boxes where pictures should be.  Scanning with the bar slide the pics appear for one or two seconds then are gone.

Grandson Son sabataged my IPhotos!  Can't get pics to appear.  Only broken-line/square boxes where the pictures should be.  Scrolling with side bar brings up pics for 1 or 2 seconds then they are gone again.  HELP!  Please....

Restore from your back up is the most obvious way forward.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

  • Magic wand tool that will select broken-line shapes?

I'm an illustrator... working in both digital & real artwork.
I work mostly in Photoshop CS, but I have been searching for a solution to a digital problem that I can't quite seem to find using either Photoshop or Illustrator.
What I wish to do is scan a pencil drawing and then create selected shapes in a quick and easy method using a magic wand tool.
But it needs to be a magic wand tool that will select an area drawn from a series of broken lines. Photoshop will only select shapes that are 100% intact, so I wind up having to spend lots of time searching to repair broken lines before Photoshop selects just that one area.
I KNOW that such a program exists... because I recall there used to be such a program. It was a free dowloaded program that I got once, way back around 1998. I think it came from Australia... and it was a basic digital paint program of some sort. I can't recall the name.
It allowed one to quickly click and select an area from within a shape drawn with broken line segments...
Does anyone know of any program (hopefully for Mac) that allow this sort of selection?
This would save me hours of frustration. I can't believe Adobe hasn't come up with something like this already.
    Thanks...

I doubt that I will get to trying the proposed method on that sample image this weekend. I can make a few quick comments, however.
Like numerous Photoshop tools, the success of Illustrator tools like Live Trace and Live Paint are very image dependent and some experience helps. Here are some comment on the three steps needed.
First, the Live Trace step must be done well. There are a boat load of parameters for this process. For the subject image my guess would be to start with a preset and the one I would choose would be comic art.
Secondly, once you make a live paint group you have to have automatic gap detection checked (turned on) and you choice of predefined or custom gap sizes specified. You will then see where the gaps are automatically found and fixed and the gap options dialog box will tell you how many have been found. If you like what you see you can just start painting. Usually, however it is an iterative process of painting some of the areas and then resetting the gap detection and painting again. At any point you can automatically close the paths (but you cannot go back), change the settings to auto detect even larger gaps and try again.
Third is the manual phase. If lucky you will have none of this. On the subject image, however, I can see that some of this is required. To preserve the artistic content of the original one draws a line in the very big gaps having no stroke or fill (invisible line)and then you use the live paint bucket. While the above sounds like a lot of work, it can go very quickly with many drawings.
    JN
    >That's why I think Adobe ought to work on designing a 'smart magic wand tool'... that could select imperfectly closed shapes.
The Live Paint tool in Illustrator does this. It automatically detects gaps and lets you paint as if they were not there.

  • Broken line across bluetooth icon

    Hello,
I have got a broken line across the bluetooth icon in the upper line of tne screen and all bluetooth device around the MacPro (8 cores mid 2010) such as mouse, pad, keyboard, are inoperative. So I am only able to restart the Mac through the ON/OFF button, and then I have no control at all of the machine, even in target mode (because action with the keybord is not possible).
The entire motherboard was recently changed, and the problem is not solved.
What is the cause of that failure ? Is it a software or a hardware problem ? What is the cure.
    Many thanks

Thank you IIIaass for your quick answer.
Yes, I tried to manage with a USB wired KB and a USB mouse. Same result : nothing. I cannot take the control of the Mac any more.
Regarding your second question : yes, it worked normally a few weeks after the MBoard replacement. And suddenly, without any special action, I've lost control. The only thing I can do is to restart through the main switch. Impossible also to launch another hard disk (there are 5 inside, including one SSD) by maintaining the alt key during a restart because the keybord is inoperative. I's possible to relaunch another HD by leaving only that HD in the Mac. Then it is recognized, and system is launched. I have 10.7.5 and 10.6.8 on those HD. The failure remains exactly the same.

my phone keeps freezing on settings, I cannot make or receive a call but everything else is working including internet and mail. where it should be showing the reception bars it is only showing a broken line. How do I resolve this?

If you are not showing reception bars, then I don't know how the data is working? Have you tried doing a reset? Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, check to see if it works. If that doesn't help, then try removing the SIM card, then reinserting it. If that doesn't help, then contact your carrier for assistance in calling.

  • Photos show but disappear; grey square with broken line edge is there

I have a problem with some pictures that simply disappeared. What is left in IPhoto library and the folder I put them in is a group of broken line gray squares. What is really strange is that all of the information is still there, date, time, etc. for the photos taken. What is even stranger is that when I grab the scroll bar and move up and down, they are there for a second before going away again.
Since I have the info, including the name DSC01906.jpg, for example, I have done a spotlight search but, they are not there. I am thinking they must be somewhere since they are visible for an instant as I scroll through but, can't fine them? Can anyone help.
The story of how it happens is long but, here goes:
I was importing a group of pictures from the camera using a USB card reader, approx. 350 pictures. Got the disk is nearly full message and before I could do anything, the import stopped at about 83 pictures imported. I had the system set to automatically delete so, I guess it deleted the ones imported from the card.
I created a folder and moved the 83 shots into it and everything was fine. they were there, visible, etc. I removed some files from the HD to get more room and imported the rest of the pictures. I put them in the same folder and all was well.
Then I got a message that Iphoto had found some pictures that had not been imported? So, I clicked to import. The first one up was a duplicate so, I told it not to duplicate and to do the same action will all the others. They were the first photos and it did not import any since they were all duplicates.
When it was done, the gray squares was all that was left.
I have done everything I can think of to find them. They are visible for a second but, the files are not there far as I can see.
I am still traveling and will try to unerase them from the card when I get home. Have a copy of Norton and hope that will work. If anyone has a better idea for that, let me know too.
But, I still feel that the pictures must be there somewhere since I can see them before they go away.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    reifer:
Norton will not work. You can recover the photos on the card with MediaRECOVER. In Demo mode it will show you what files it can recover before you commit to purchase.
I don't need to tell you that you should now set iPhoto to NOT delete after importing and do it with the camera. Much safer.
I think your best bet at recovery of the library would be to rebuild it with iPhoto Library Manager. It creates a new library without changing the original one. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.
How much free space do you have on your MacBook? It is hightly recommended that you maintain a minimum of 10G or 15%, whichever is greater. If you get down to less than a DVD or CD you won't even be able to burn files to a disk as the system requires that much space for a temporary disk image. You can get to the point where the laptop won't even boot. I strongly recommend you clean up some space ASAP.
    Do you Twango?

    What graphics card is installed?
Have you looked inside to see if the interior is dusty?
    Is the graphics card dusty?
If equipped, is the fan on the graphics card turning?
Leopard uses the graphics card harder than Tiger, so weakness in the graphics card is more easily shown.

  • Relationship broken line

I have a relationship with a straight line; how can I convert this stright line into a line with multiple directions (broken line), like the lines of the letter Z?

If it's just a matter of routing your relationship around other elements
, use the SHIFT-key and your mouse button (dragging) at the same time.
Look in the help file for the subject "dog-leg"
    I hope this will help.

Under Layers go to the content Area and move the Textfields to the left and/or remove the pictures , after that you can resize the tabbed panel.
    Hope that helps

    first problem then solution

Dude, your retina display is gone for good. The only viable solution will be to get the whole display assembly replace for around $700 (Prices may vary slightly from person to person during quoting) from Apple as accidental damages are not counted in warranty. Sorry for the loss..

in jsp where a bean.getProperty() value has a broken line. but it displays as a single line in the web page. when printing the line by System.out.println() statement, it displays as a verious new line where '\0' is applied but in jspbean.getProperty it does not.
    For example :
    It displays by SOP()statement as
    Successful
    No error
    No restarts
    No marked completed

Successful No error No restarts No marked completed.
please provide the code that support in jsp file so that the output statement should like as SOP()statement output type.

I guess you want to display CRLF (\r\n) in JSP?
Line breaks in HTML are generally represented as < br >.
    You have 3 options:
    1) replace CRLF by < br >.
    2) style the line using CSS with 'white-space' set to 'pre'.
    3) surround the line with the HTML < pre > tag.

  • How do I get rid of the dotted line on right side of bounding box

Ever since I upgraded to CS5, I seem to have a broken dotted line along the right side of the bounding box of the png logo that was created for my company.  It wasn't there before. I've gone back to my original back up of the logo and this broken line is in all the versions now.
Whenever I use the artwork a single dash/dotted line is left on the far right, where the right vertical line of the bounding box would have been. You can see it in the image below on the right.  Its a faint white line but when printed on a banner its stark white.  The line falls just above the last "A" in Alberta.
I can use Illustrator and Photoshop basics and but have trouble when I get into problems like this.
Can anyone help me figure out why its there and how to get rid of it?
    I would appreciate any help!
    Thanks.

    Wade and Monica,
    Thanks for your help.
Wade, it hit me when you asked "why is it a png" file and I realized that I was using the wrong file.  Sometimes its hard to see the forest for the trees!  Problem for banner artwork fixed and I have now used the correct logo file so no more dotted line.
The dotted line only appears on the the png version of the logo.  There's no coloured background on the logo file.  She gave me the file as both an eps and a png file. I'm pretty sure she created the logo in Illustrator.  I've been using the png file for the website, which is what I thought it worked well for.  And the eps one for my print materials.
I have no clue why I grabbed the png instead of the eps logo file I usually use, but thanks for pointing out the obvious since I wasted time trying to fix it and was getting very frustrated at what had suddenly gone "wrong".
I still have that dotted line on the png file of the logo but I'll have to figure that out another day.
    Thanks again!
