Broken Link Icons (No Graphics) in Store/MiniStore Pane

Please suggest solutions!
Before activating Mini Store pane I had message in the pane that said I needed QuickTime and a LZZ decompressor to use Mini Store. I have the latest QuickTime but don't know what the decompressor is.
After clicking on the Mini Store activator button, the Store listings appear but there are no graphics. In their places are icons of "broken chain links".
What am I missing OR what should I do to correct this problem?

Same problem. See my post from tonight. Let's see if anyone responds. I bet it has something to do with Quicktime.

  • Broken link icons appearing instead of artwork in iTunes store

    Hi,
For some odd reason, I see "broken link" icons, which look like a chain made up of three links, with the center link broken, instead of music album artwork in iTunes store.
Initially I see the album artwork, but then they begin to get replaced by the odd looking "broken link" icons ! quite strange.... this began happening after I upgraded to OSX 10.5.6, but I am not sure this is the main reason I'm having this issue, I tested some macs at the Apple store, which were running 10.5.6. to access the iTunes store, and this problem did not appear, so it might be something else on my Mac Pro that is causing this odd behavior.
Any other Mac users encountering the "broken link" icon when visiting the iTunes store ? Any clues ? or ways to solve this ? what could be causing this ? Any help/feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    The Cooks,
Have you installed Quicktime 7.1.5 update?

  • Broken link icons

    Hi
I have been launching iTunes today (latest version), running on my Powerbook G4. Up until today it has all worked fine.
Then I added a user from a different laptop onto mine. When I next opened iTunes, all images are shown as a broken link. I have deleted QuickTime as that seemed to be a solution for several others but to no avail.
Has anyone got any idea what I can do?
    Many thanks in advance
    Graeme

Sorry about that - I am in mental freefall and did not read your previous post properly.
I have just created a new user (with admin rights) and iTunes in that user has the broken link icons.
Within that user, I checked the version of QT I have installed. I opened up QT player and looked at the about box: QT version 7.0.3 and player version 7.0.1
Is it likely that I have not uninstalled QT properly? Or is that I only dealt with the player and not some other part of QT of which I am wholly unaware?
Any thoughts very gratefully received - and I promise to read all of a comment next time.

  • DWCS4 - Image shows up as broken link icon

ok, I'm not sure what has changed in DW4, but I'm really
confused. I just installed it and thought I would test out the
    functionality.
I created a basic HTML page.
I attempted to insert an image
    - I tried to drag-n-drop the image from the files menu and
it shows up as a link with the image name and it's a link
    - I tried to go up to Insert \ Image \ and choose the image
from my image folder and it shows up as a broken link image.
Ok, so if that isn't weird enough, if I upload it to a
website the image is there and works just fine. And it looks just
find in the code the entire time. When I use the 'insert' function
I used both document & root functionality but the result was
    the same.
So... what happened here? I doubt this was made by design, so
something is wrong. It's hard to work with a picture when you
    aren't allowed to see it.
Now get this.... What was mentioned above was on about 3
different JPG images. Than I take 2 other different JPG images and
I do what I mentioned above without an issue.
    THoughts?

    Try
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool No

  • Deleted a pic, broken link, lesson learned

Thanks to Beverly Maneatis' description in other posts I learned that iDVD 09 project file does not hold all the elements needed (images, pics, sound clips) for a project. I made a DVD for my brother who took his family to Disney. Imagine my surprise when the Drop Zones showed the "broken link" icon; I had deleted the images I dropped thinking they'd be saved within the project file.
So my question to you all: how do you organize your iDVD workspace? Do you set a up a folder and add ALL files associated w/ the project including the saving of proj. file?
    Cheers
    Frank

You do not have to regorganize your workspace to utilize iDVD without losing your links. You can certainly do this if you wish and if it seems to be more sensible to you, but it is not necessary if you do not disturb any of the media you are using.
I save ALL of my iDVD projects as disk image files after I have finished editing the project, before I burn to disk. I do not rename, move, delete or change any of the media elements used in the project until after the disk image has been created, and I have used it to burn at least one DVD disk. Then, before deleting anything, I play the burned DVD to be absolutely certain it is correct.
When I have done that, I delete the original iDVD project and the original iMovie used to create the iDVD project, both to save space and because I no longer need the iDVD projects.
A disk image file is self-contained....all the media used is encoded within it so you don't have to worry about losing it.
(I also export my edited iMovie back to miniDV tape in my camcorder...my reason to stay with iM6).
The only reason to keep an iDVD project is if you think you might want to re-edit. If you always keep the images used for it in the same location, iDVD can always locate them for burning. But, for me, once I have finished the project and a burned disk plays correctly, I have rarely wanted to go back and change/redo the project. Once I found a spelling error on one of the subtitles, and once I found some other minor error, which I corrected before deleting the project. I have probably created several hundred iDVD projects, and I have not found the need to redo them. If I need another DVD of any project, I just burn from the disk image file, using Disk Utility.

  • "Broken chain link" icon appears when trying iTunes store

It's really slow going trying to reach the store right now. When I do, I get all these broken chain link icons in place of pictures. Also, my podcasts are loading in a lightning-fast 45 minutes each. This is a fairly new developement, it's been about a week now. I can't find much helpful info around the forums so far. Anyone?
    -Seth

I have a few questions since most likely we will have to figure this out on our own. I have this problem occur a few times in a day however it is random.
    My system:
    Vista Ultimate 32bit
    Antivirus: Kaspersky Internet Security 8.0
    Web browswer: Exporer 8.0.6
    Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9600GT
    Ram: 4GB
    Genius Settings: off
    Itunes View: Cover Flow
Keyboard / Mouse: Logitech bluetooth MX5500
I have also experienced very sluggish performance with itunes store browsing/serach and have yet to figure that out. It started with Itunes 7
If we can find a common issue we may be able to figure this out as a group.

    Hi ...
Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) will reinstall the App Store for you.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try purchasing Aperture.

  • No Art Broken Links in Store

7.6.1 shows broken links on iTunes store and does not show artwork in any mode including visualizer. Oddly enough all the artwork show up just fine in Front Row. Tried reinstalling iTunes (no success). Tried running the combo 10.5.2 updater over 10.5.2 install but for the first time (with a combo updater) it says that I can't use it on this system!
    Any suggestions?

  • ITunes Music Store broken links everywhere

I recently had to install a new hard drive. Everything went very smooth. I went to the iTune Store and downloaded a couple of songs, no problem. Then I remember I had not ran updates, ran the updates. I restarted and went back to iTune Store and there are broken links everywhere. No images, just broken links. I never head of this or seen it. I went to the Apple store and ask someone at the Genius Bar and they pulled someone from the back and they have no clue. So if anyone out there has seen it and has fixed the problem, please pass it on. Thanks.

I simply assumed it was on Apple's side. I think they are receiving more traffic than they had anticipated. The song "new soul" from the MacBook Air have gone through the roof. And I must admit that after watching the keynote at MacWorld I wanted to rent Transformers right away and watch it with the kids! I think they are simply being bombarded. At least that is what I think, only time will tell.

  • Background graphics and link icons do not display even after downgrading flash, emptying cache, reinstalling recent and older versions of firefox

sometime today, firefox 14 began not displaying the background graphics and link icons on every site I went on from my laptop. It would display this information when I changed the rendering engine to the explorer platform. I have removed the flash player 11.3 from the computer; re-installed flash 10.3 recommended from the troubleshooting page; restarted the computer; same problem. Did the same with the Java plug-in with the same result. Disabled all extensions and restarted Firefox with no change. Examined the sites on a different laptop using version 10 of Firefox and everything worked fine! Reloaded older version of Firefox on original laptop, restarted computer, same problem on older version. Updated to latest revision, listed below, and same problem. Went to desktop computer using version 14, and same thing is happening there also. (I have not done anything to this system yet.)

All of the items contained in both of the reference documents were already active on each system. I have created a zip file with four screen capture pictures showing what I'm dealing with. The first picture shows what the site looked like yesterday morning; the second shows what happened when I refreshed the screen this morning; the third shows what happened when I switched the rendering engine on the same tab this morning; the fourth shows what happen when the tab was switched back to original rendering engine. The file is at:
    [http://charisacademy.org/pictures.zip This location]
Please consider this for a moment: I am having to answer these questions from you using my iPad because the graphics at the top of this window which control the type-input will not display in Firefox while the post buttons will. Let me know if you can't get the picture file and I'll find another way to get it to you.

  • Finding anchor frame for broken links to graphic

I have a document that when opening wants a new link to a graphic that has been deleted from the file. I have looked on the body pages, master pages, reference pages, everywhere I can think of to locate where the graphic the file is looking for could be located. Can anyone suggest additional places in file to look?
    Thanks

If the file isn't part of a book, make it one, then:
Add > List of > Figures
and you'll find out what page it's on (if LOF catalogs missing imports, which it may not).
You can also save as MIF and look in the MIF for the object name. You need to learn a little about MIF to decipher where that maps to in the document.
Import references can hide in all sorts of places, including but not limited to:
beyond edge of anchored frame (had 2 of those just today)
hidden behind an opaque something you can see
    conditional text currently turned off
text flowed out of sight on disconnected page
in plain sight, but hidden by Color Views
Worst case scenario: create a 1x1 pixel white object and give it the name of the rogue.

  • Kernel Panic/"broken folder" icon but boots in safe mode

    I'm totally puzzled.
When I boot the computer either from the HDD or my bootable back-up, i get the broken folder icon.
But i can boot just fine in safe mode from the HDD - in fact, that's how i'm typing this message right now.
I have turned off all login items.
I repaired permissions on disk utility.
What else can i do (short of my genius bar appointment tomorrow morning)?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
I assume restoring from my backup HDD won't work since I can't boot from it?

  • Help! Just copied iTunes media to second external drive and now have broken links in the original drive??

    Hi everyone
I wonder if anyone can offer me some advice to rectify the problems I'm experiencing in my itunes?
I have been saving my media to an external hard drive since rebuilding my itunes collection, while keeping the library on the hard drive of my MBP.  This was working well with no problems but as my media reached 300GB on my external I thought I would copy it to another external hard drive as back up, and after that I decided to also make a copy of my library data to the same second external drive so I would have a full back up of itunes in case of failure of my main hard drive...
So after copying my media from my first external drive to the second, and then copying the library data from my MBP hard drive it seems the copy of my media and the copied library are working fine on my second external hard drive, but now when I open the first external drive where I originally was saving my media files I am suffering quite a lot of broken links???...I followed the copy process as I have done in the past although I did not tick the check box for renaming and moving my media as it was about to be copied, and I thought that was correct as I used the consolidate function to copy it..
Been trying to figure out how to rectify the problem tonight and am getting nowhere fast.  Can anyone offer suggestions as to how I can sort the issue on my original external hard drive as it's the one I prefer to store my media on and it was functioning perfectly before?? from having a tidy and clearly functioning itunes I now have a mass of problems....
I hope this is clear to someone.....as I was hoping to have it fixed in readiness for a new MBP...am I missing something obvious?

OK, this should sort you out...
Move the following files and folders from /Volumes/Backup/iTunes  up to /Volumes/Backup/
    Album Artwork (folder)
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    iTunes Library.xml
    sentinel (hidden)
Launch iTunes. It should warn that the library is missing. Browse to the file /Volumes/Backup/iTunes Library.itl and open it.
Go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced and change the media folder location to /Volumes/Backup/Music. Let iTunes consolidate files if it asks, if not use File > Library > Organize Library... Tick Consolidate files and click OK.
Close iTunes. Rename /Volumes/Backup/Music as /Volumes/Backup/iTunes Media. Start iTunes.
Go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced, check that the media folder location now reads /Volumes/Backup/iTunes Media. If necessary, change and then close and reopen iTunes.
Go to File > Library Organize Library... and, if not greyed out, tick Rearrange files in the folder iTunes Media, then click OK.
Delete /Volumes/Backup/iTunes/iTunes Media which now contains redundant copies.
Move the following files and folders from /Volumes/Backup/ into /Volumes/Backup/iTunes

Each time you change something and start iTunes just check that a track will play. If not, close iTunes and undo your last action.
That should be it. You can clone this iTunes folder to any other drive and the clone is a functioning copy of your library.

  • How do I restore files from TM backups with broken links?

I have Time Machine backups with broken links all over the more recent backups.
I get the message "The alias “xxx” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found." whenever I click on one of the links.
I have made the backups on my external usb backup drive before before upgrading my internal disk to a larger one.
Two questions: 1) How can I recover the files?  2) What happened, how can I repair the backup if possible?
The sequence of events was: Made the latest backup.  Apple ran extended diagnostics overnight at the store and did a reinstall of the OS (10.8.2).  I passed on restoring the backup and went to an authorized service center and had them put in a new tera-byte drive.  I deleted (in the star-wars display) the oldest two and a middle backup leaving the Aug, Oct, and latest Nov. backups.
Now I see 100's 1000's of bad links.  If I look at the backup (just look) with finder I can see directories for July and Sept in addition to the ones I didn't delete.
It appears that the files are probably all there and I could recover them a few at a time if I poke around.
I am tempted to do this before trying to repair the disk.  Yes, it will take me ages; but I would rather take the time than a chance at doing -Anything- that could even possibly make things worst.  I can see 3 senarios and wonder if anyone can say what would be best. And by best I mean **Safest**.
    1) Go in TM to the Aug backup that seems to have no (or maybe only a few) broken links and restore that; then move in TM to newer backups and restore one folder or file at a time on top of it.
    2) Do the same thing with a restore of Aug but then use the finder to copy newer files from the backup disk to the new disk.
    3) Do essentially the same thing; but do it all in finder.
Of course that still begs the question of what happened and if the backup can be repaired; but to me, that is secondary to getting the data back.
fyi- I have looked at the TM hints and debug-repair file.  I realize I can try a repair disk but I am tempted to try to get the data 1st unless someone is Sure a repair won't mung the data more.
    Thanks
