Does anyone have the correct link to the 'Creating a Muse Customizable Widget' tutorial on http://muse.adobe.com/tutorials.html. Please...?

Thank you for pointing it out. The correct link is http://muse.adobe.com/creating-a-.mucow.html
Will be getting the same fixed on the Tutorials page as well.

  • Is it possible to force links inside a custom widget to open in Safari instead of within the widget?

I'm just starting to get into working with iBooks Author, so apologies in advance if this is a FAQ.  I've search the forum and the web but haven't been able to find an answer.
I'm trying to link out to an external resource from within a custom widget I've created.
Instead of opening in Safari, the link is opening within the widget overlay.  There are no browser controls, the content doesn't scroll and there's no way to get back to the widget's original content without closing and reopening the book.  Closing and reopening the widget doesn't reset the widget state.
I can work around this if I have to, but I'm hoping someone here has a solution.

I'm looking for an answer to this too. I found that you can do this in a normal Dashboard widget with widget.openURL("...") but for whatever reason the openURL method isn't available in iBooks. Still looking for a solution...

  • How to find broken url from custom 404 page?

I have created a custom 404 jsp page and updated the web deployment descriptor with the code:
         <error-page>
            <error-code>404</error-code>
            <location>/jsp/custom-404.jsp</location>
</error-page>Whenever I enter an invalid url or click on broken link (target does not exist), a 404 HTTP response arises and the custom-404.jsp is rendered. So far so good.
Within the custom-404.jsp, I would like to know the original url (invalid link or broken link) so that I can send the administrator an email with the url details. But, I could not find any API to find this url?
    Can someone help here please?
    Thanks

My bet is that it is available as referrer inside the error page in case of a redirect, or as Request URI in case of a forward.
String referrer = httpServletRequest.getHeader("referer"); // Yes, with the legendary misspelling in it.
    // or
    String requestURI = httpServletRequest.getRequestURI();

  • Broken links to database stored gif's

I installed 9i AS 1.0.2 for NT and immediately after that the hlw-tutorial files. Now some (not all) links are broken, e.g. in the hlw navigation bar the link to the "home" (http://servername/pls/portal30/docs/249.gif). The file 249.gif is stored in wwdoc_document$ with a pathid of 209. As I didn't find an appropriate table in user_tab_columns resolving the pathid: does anyone know where this pathid is resolved or - even better - what the cause of that error is?
    Thanks in advance

I have the same problem. Without any known reasons the links to many items are broken. These are not only gif-images but all items which are created or linked in a content area. When i click on such a broken link-item the following error-message appears:

  • Custom widget triggers - or call widget functions

    The title says it !
    Take for example three scenarios:
    1. We have a lightbox display with several slides. Each slide has interactive content like buttons. Some of the buttons will cause the lightbox to close but at the same time we need the close button. So, more than one close buttons.
    2. We need to navigate between slides in a certain order, so on the first slide, we dont need the previous button although it will have to appear as soon as we move on. Likewise, the next button should be removed on the last slide.
    3. After opening a slide in a lightbox we want a css animation to play. The css is created externaly, its put into assets and linked from an html object. But when and how would we call the animation to start? The css fires up as soon as stuff is loaded but we need it to play exactly after the slide is brought into view.
    • So the question is clear: Is it possible to do those from inside muse, or we need to create custom widgets from scratch? Like with jquery maybe.
    • Is there a way to alter the default muse scripts, or simply call widget functions from our buttons? Example: button calls lightbox.close() or lightbox.next(); etc...
I'm sorry if it has been asked before, i just couldn't find something the way i've searched it. Maybe I'm asking the wrong way but I believe its clear. Anyway, there is not need for muse to do everything, if someone has a workaround would be also welcome!
    Thanks alot!

    Hi Fabrice,
You should be able to use the cpCmndGotoSlide variable. I suspect that the problem is something with your path in Flash.
Can you post an excerpt of the code you use for your buttons in the Flash widget?

  • Broken Links not fixed after being changed-HELP PLEASE!

I am trying to fix a website I created for a friend. I created it in Dreamweaver CS6 on a Mac. Everything was working on the website, the pitures were showing up and now 2 of the pages arent working. On both pages the spry bar is not working and some of the pictures will not show up. I have went to find broken links and redirected it to the correct file but it is not changing anything. I am not sure how to fix this problem, if anyone has any advice that would be great!! The website is www.serenityatthebeach.com.

That line read correctly when I looked at it on the broken page colorcutstyle. I copied the code from the page if that would help. I hope this helps.

  • Create a custom widget

I would like to create a "component" -- basically a drop-down menu.  Except that my drop-down menu will not select an item when a user clicks on it.  The user must click on it for 2 seconds and then it will be selected.  How can I create this custom widget/component?

Thanks for your reply.  I was looking at AS 3 classes and in particular the Spark class DropDownList.  I am thinking of creating a class that extends from DropDownList.  Then overriding some method that will allow me to implement exactly when something should be selected (not just a click of the mouse but when the mouse is held down for 2 seconds).  I am just having trouble finding which method this would be, maybe a public or private method or an event.  I'm such a noob at this I'm sure this is obvious and either someone already knows it or it will catch their eye very quickly.  This is the link to the DropDownList in case someone wants to take a glance at it: class http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/spark/components/DropDo wnList.html   I appreciate all your help.

  • Importing custom Widgets problem

hi everyone.  I'm new to the forum, so I hope I'm posting in this in the correct area.  Here's my issue:  I am making custom widgets for an interactive tutorial for my work using Flash CS4.  When I try to import or open the widget in Captivate 4 I receive the following error: "Not a valid Widget".  I'm not sure if there is a specific setting that I am unaware of that I need to do in Flash before I publish it into a .swf or something.  If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated
PS: i made sure that all files were using AS3, and that both were set to use the Flash Player 9.

nevermind.. i figured out that there were some compiling erros when I published my .swf  ....  lol.. all fixed and got my widget functioning in captivate

  • Custom Widgets

    Chandrashekar, Alaiah <[email protected]> wrote
    <snip!>
Do anyone know about developing custom widgets in Forte. I have a
situation were I need to develop a Ruler widget which is very similar
to the Line widget provided by Forte. I tried subclassing it from the
Line widget and it does not allow me to do that. IM(NS)HO, one of the (few!) real weaknesses of Forte is its barrenness,
in the genealogical sense -- most of its objects, including, apparantly,
all the graphic ones, can't have children. My particular graphic gripe
is the lack of a spin widget, but I sympathise.
In SOME cases you can get the "moral equivalent" of subclassed widgets
by other means. These include (but are not limited to!):
    * Subclassing non-graphic objects to get a custom display (e.g. a
subclass of IntegerNullable that displays itself as Roman
numerals). I suspect this approach does not meet your needs.
    * Writing non-graphic manager objects to manipulate a bunch of graphic
objects in standard ways to make them "look" kind of like a
custom graphic object. For example, one way to get a ruler might
be to put a panel on your window, and create a non-graphic
object that draws appropriately in that panel, and (using an
event handler which must be manually registered) responds to
    events in it.
    * Create a window that's just one big ruler, and nest that window in
whatever window you want to display a ruler. This is how I
    simulated a spin widget.
When choosing among the last two alternatives, I go for the latter, more
out of habit than anything else. I believe that with a nested window you
get a simpler object; but on the other hand you can't usefully nest a
window in an array field (it simply doesn't function) or a mapped
CompoundField (it'll function just fine, but won't automatically update
the mapped object unless you do something to explicitly tell the nested
window what it's supposed to be updating).
You will find a sample app using nested windows in

    HI
The buttons used in the Program displayed by your link are mostly images used in the buttons, especially for the toolbar. So may have to get out your drawing board and start creating yorur own images. Also the button used for the inner frame, is something that can be achieved by creating a new look and feel for your application. Check out the Code Examples in you sdk, the MetalWorks example in particular. Go through all the looks and feels provided for that application and try to come up with your own, so that you frame buttons will look fancier.
Also search the net for IFrame. I can't remember the site where it is located but it provides you with Java classes for custom JFrames which a have very powerful and interest appearances.
These should get you on your way. Do remember:
    1. Images for toolbar buttons and normal JButton
    2. Custom Look and Feel for JFrame buttons
    All the best.

  • So many Partial Albums are broken links?

I just browsed the iTunes Store today. I found plenty of "Partial Albums" that happen to be broken links. You click on the link and the iTunes Store gives an error message: *Your request could not be completed. The item you've requested is not available.*
I'm not talking about only 2 or 3 random albums here. I'm willing to list a dozen examples here if Apple wishes me to do so, in order to track down the "broken links" so that they can fix it. This just happens to be the first time that I noticed this problem is so widespread.

The best way to report this issue is to contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the link at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page and let them know which albums you've discovered to be experiencing this problem.

  • [Solved] Help spotting broken links while using the shell

Hello, here I am again with another doubt (probably a very basic one ).
Is there any way to distinguish broken links from "good" links on the shell?
I'm using xfce and in thunar its very easy to spot that, it says broken link but I can't figure out how to see it easily on the shell.
I'm using bash by the way, just the way it comes out of the install.
    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately no, I have tried with --color=always and with --color=auto its exactly the same thing, last one is used in the default ls alias (alias ls='ls -lh --color=auto'). I have seen this functionality in other distros, maybe if I fiddle with the file that decides which color to give to what will do the trick but I have no idea where to start
It would be nice to see this "addition" included by default in arch, little things like this do matter a lot
    More on this ....
If I do dircolors -p both in arch and on a system where this is working the output looks the same, particularly this
ORPHAN 40;31;01 # symlink to nonexistent file, or non-stat'able file
... so I'm really lost here
Ok ... I think I solved it myself, so here it goes. In arch things are getting colorized by default but I have no clue where and how it selects the colors and on the other system I have tried (Fedora 7) the "default" isn't the same as in the dircolors default, but here there is a file with custom colors.
Anyway to solve this I have added
    eval `dircolors`
to my .bashrc and that did the trick, I have also added it into /etc/profile.bash just in case I create more users and want it to be already set.

How do I add URI web link with custom tooltip like "CLICK HERE TO UPDATE" instead of URI web link in tooltip.

You've probably found an answer to this by now, but I think this has been addressed in another forum -- The link below suggested using a button and adding the tooltip to the button.

Sounds like it would work but I haven't actually tried it.

  • The broken link error

    Hi,
Please help me with this broken link error in Office Excel 2010. Thank you.
The problem is: a broken link cannot be removed from the file. The link was used in data validation, which refers to a list of values. After the path was corrected, it still shows there’s a broken link. Here are the details:
    I have 4 files named “000TVA_Test – 3”, “000TVA_Test – 4”, “000TVA_Test – 5”, and “000TVA_Test – 6”. The posterior files were developed based on the previous files.
In Test-3, sheet “Template “, cell “L4”, “O4”, “R4”… were built as dropdown list using data validation. The list source is in the “Library” worksheet. There’s no problem so far.
Test-4 was firstly copied from Test-3. In this file I renamed the worksheet from “Library” to “Setting” and the link was broken from here. I can also fix the broken link in this file. (While I didn’t realize there was a broken link.)
In Test-5 I fixed the path, but every time when opening the file, the broken link still shows.
In Test-6 I’ve removed the data validations. The broken link is still there.
I tried to find solutions online. I tried common methods, cannot find anything in the files is still using links. I also tried the “findlink.xla” add-in, but it only worked for Test-4, and couldn’t find the link in other files.
    Please help. Thank you!
    I uploaded files here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=1A97736E0ABBAA41!113&authkey=!AF5wAd9rwUPnYyE&ithint=folder%2cxlsm
    Thanks again!

    Hi,
Based on my tested the files downloaded, I found that Test-5 & Test-6 included the "A defined name that refers to an external workbook", Test-4 had not. (Please click Formula Tab>Name Manage, you'll see them.)
However, the Break Links command cannot break the following types of links:
A defined name that refers to an external workbook
A ListBox control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.
A DropDown control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.
http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/291984/en-us (It also applies to Excel 2010)
    Thus, we'd better try the workaround: re-build the Test-5 & Test 6.
