Broken MacBook Query - File Related (Urgent)

To cut a long story short, my MacBook was accidently damaged the other day, denting the closed lid. When I discovered this and tried turning it on, the keypad lit up, but nothing was displayed on the screen at all.
The Apple logo on the lid does not light up either, and I am unsure if just the screen/lid is broken, or the actual computer.
Either way, I am claiming on my insurance for a replace/repair, whoever am worried about losing my files I have on the computer, mainly my iPhone back up and music files.
I heard that if I plug my device into a new computer everything is wiped unless I tranfer all my library data?
I still have my old PC laptop, which I used to plug my iPhone into before I got my Mac (4 months ago) and transfereed everything over, will that recognise my iPhone without wiping it?
So basically, I am unsure what is actually broken, and need to acess my files before it's taken away. What Can I do?

Talk to your insurer about the problem. The hard drive is considered by Apple to be a user-replaceable part, so replacing it yourself wouldn't void Apple's warranty if the computer were in good working order. For all the insurer will be able to tell, you could already have replaced the original drive before the accident, and that would have been OK with Apple. You may want to offer to replace the drive you're removing with a brand new one to placate the insurer. Silly as it sounds, that wouldn't cost much (well under $100), and would be far preferable to losing all your data if you were compelled by the insurer to give up the internal drive. I think a reasonable insurer will see the logic.
You are learning why it's essential to maintain an up-to-date backup of all your data on an external drive at all times. If you had one, this would be a non-issue. Take the lesson to heart, and when you get a new computer, back up its hard drive religiously.
Afterthought: If your computer will be repaired by Apple rather than replaced, offer to pay for a replacement drive as part of the repair if you're allowed to remove the present drive before sending the machine in.

Broken Macbook Pro won't finish copying even with target disk mode. Help!

I'm helping someone with a Macbook Pro 2010-11. It worked for a few years but eventually degraded last month when it wouldn't go 10 minutes without displaying the rainbow loading ball. Possibly a hard drive problem.
The owner never backed any of the computer up. I am trying to salvage their data before it's lost. The computer can power on. I have been turning the computer on and salvaging most of the data from numerous trips with USBs until it crashes, and then moving on to Target Disk Mode. The computer turns on slowly, displays the rainbow ball every minute or so, and never finishes copying or exporting anything. It still seems to be degrading.
I still need two things: One is a large folder with thousands of old OUTLOOK e-mails created on an old PC (which the owner no longer has).
Second is the folder/autobackup where OUTLOOK for Mac stores all the e-mails and settings.
I have found the folder -- I think it is the Main Identity or Office Identities. Am I correct? Will this bring back OUTLOOK on the newer Macbook Pro exactly like on the old one? I also know where the old e-mails folder is, but when I try to transfer either folder through Target Disk Mode on the newer Macbook Pro, it stops and gives me the "Some data in _____.olk14msgsource could not be read or written." AKA error code -36, halfway through the transfer.
I have tried exporting OUTLOOK on the broken Macbook Pro to a .olm, but it gets stuck halfway and gets stuck back on the rainbow ball. Then I shut the computer off. I have also tried going into the folders through target disk mode and deleting the .olk14msgsource files that are problematic, but there are too many of them.
Please help! The owner needs these files and OUTLOOK exactly like it was!

Delete WorkBook and Query file from Server .

How we going to remove the remove the workbook or query files from Server ? bc i tried to delete from Analyzer(excel 2007), the file is deleted from the view , but havent delete from the server... So how i going to remove the file from server ?

Content Tracker Reports Query file modification issue - Custom Report

Hi All,
I was trying to generate a custom report using Content Tracker. I was successful in doing so. However, I found that sometimes it does not pick up the updated query file of Content Tracker reports.
I made a change in my query:
from SELECT * FROM Users to
SELECT dname FROM Users
the change is written on the file but when i generated the report from C.T. UI, it's still showing me the old results having all the columns. Tried bouncing the server as well, but no use.
I also added a new query 24 hrs back (as SELECT count(*) As UsersNum FROM Users), it's still not recognizing it and giving error as Failure of server APACHE bridge: No backend server available for
connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF;
and the log says,
Unable to execute service SCT_GET_DOCUMENT_INFO_ADMIN and function sctExecuteQuery.
Unable to create the result set for query '(null)'. SQL statement to execute cannot be empty or null
What could be the resolution of this issue?
I am using UCM 11g + SSXA.

Do you know when this problem (for not being able to add new highlight/strikeout/underline) has started? Did you update your iOS from 7.x to 8.0 recently?

Site-wide media query file

Let's say one has a style sheet for detail pages on one's website, say "detail.css", designed for desktop monitors.
Now one creates a sitewide media query file, e.g., mq-detail.css
which looks like this to refer to the tablet and phone style sheets:

@import url("detail-phone.css") only screen and (max-width:320px);
Then how does one refer to the desktop style sheet? If I simply use "detail.css" with a minimum width of 769px, then some browsers like IE8 will not reference any style sheet.
Would this line in mq-detail.css   work:

If the screen width is >768 px, will "detail.css" be used for all browsers: that is the goal.

The links above go on every page of my site as they are needed. The global.css for desktop AND mobile. The mobile.css contains the media queries css which are used to change the css in the global.css file specifically for mobile devices.

There isn't any site wide media query file. That would be just a general css file that both desktop and mobile share, in my view. You only change what is necessary for mobile devices in a dedicated media queries file or you can include them in the general css file.

Havent read through the tutorial so can't really comment on that one only to say everyone has slightly different approaches to building pages. I tend to look at my design and see where it starts to break down then use media query break points based on that rather than any view port width.

You can use an IE conditional comment IF that is whats needed to get IE8 to work with your design....depends what css you are using. The more advanced techniques will not work in older browsers.

Did you find a solution to this issue? We are having a similar issue trying to deploy a Paypal IPN on OAS 10.1.2.3. The IPN messages coming from Paypal appear to be attempting an SSLv2 handshake. In our case SSLv2 is disabled due to our security requirements so the connection is killed by our App Server. We have found that manually sending the IPN messages works correctly.

How to stop the generation of the trace files relate to the particular user

Please advice:
Is it possible to stop the trace file created by a user for a particular job (sql/exp)
For example :
Trace files create whenever the user run the sql/exp command from his application server.
This will created a huge files and caused the file system getting full (not in bdump but it is generation in application user home directory).
Is there any method to stop the generation of the trace files relate to the particular user base on that job.

This trigger will created for that specific user by dba or person who have sysdba privs. it will triggered at the login time of that user and alter the sqltrace.

Migration of Business Query file

Hi,
I would like to migrate Business Query files (bqy in BO 6.5) to Live Office (BO XI 3.1).
Is it possible? Is there a procedure for migration?

Generally we select "With Export". However, you can choose without export also. The difference is, when you use With Export, the data source can be recovered in BW 3.5.
Without export wont allow you to recover the datasource from BI7 to 3.5

I understand where you are about being your own IT department, it can be overwhelming ...
What drives to buy depends an awful lot on how you will use them, what your budget is, and your preferences.
In the case of your DP Powermac, for online storage used primarily for editing, I would add one or more internal drives first. Look for drives that are at least 7200rpm and have at least an 8MB cache. 10,000rpm/16MB cache is even better, but more expensive. Seagate Barracudas have always been good choices.
For backup purposes, I'd pick some good external FireWire drives; you can also use these for online editing, lots of people do. Your Mac has both FW400 and FW800 ports - either kind is fine but if you get drives that support both, you would want to connect them to the FW800 port for the added performance.
In my experience, the Lacie d2 Extreme drives have been very very good. In fact I have 3 of them daisy-chained off my iMac G5 right now and they work flawlessly with FCE. Weibetech and Granite Digital drives are further upscale in performance and price. RAID configurations would be even further upscale. Do stay away from consumer level hard drives, however ... the Western Digital MyBook series & no-name drives come to mind ...
Don't use a FireWire hub for your external drives, it's just asking for trouble.
