Broken reset button covered by warranty?

Whilst trying to reset up my TC, I've managed to snap the reset button.
I'm guessing this is going to void the warranty, although it didn't seem to give any, and all I did was push it in trying to feel it give any, when snap!
Any ide if this would be covered under warranty?
The trouble is, I can't now seem to get it going again, having tried every combination of restarting the MBP, TC and modem. But the MBP just won't see the TC in Airport Utility, even when connected by ethernet.
The TC is permanently stuck on a flashing amber light, and the sound of either the fan or HD spinning noisily.

Yeah - I'm going to be making an appointment at a Genius Bar in the next few weeks just before we go on holiday to get them to give the MBP a health check, as its been suffering from this :
http://www.hpwebdesign.co.uk/macbook/macbook.html
So will take the TC along as well. Unfortunately I don't have phone support, and wouldn't be able to follow their instructions anyway, what with the reset button being broken.
See what they say anyway - they might have ways and means of doing something.

  • Is a broken home button covered under warranty on iPad 1?

When I push the button on the bottom of the screen nothing happens.  Not sure why, sometimes it will work after I mash on it but other than that the majority of the time it won't work.  Is this covered under the warranty?

Your iPad came with a one year warranty, so if you are within the warranty period, you are covered.  If you are near an Apple Store, make an appointment with the Genius Bar.

  • Broken Reset Button on SG 300 Switch - Need to reset

I can't seem to reset my switch and realized the reset button is missing/broken off.  Is there an alternate method to reset the switch to factory settings?  If not, how do I figure out the IP of the web interface, it is not the default.

    Mark,
Is the web interface simply not loading or do you not have the password? Your DHCP range does not matter unless there is another device on the network that is currently assigned 192.168.1.254. If that is the case you will have trouble accessing the web UI. It is usually easiest to plug ONLY a PC and the switch together and assign a static IP to the PC:
    IP Address: 192.168.1.200
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: None
    DNS Servers: None
This will allow you to access the switch without interference from other network devices. Remember to change the PC back to DHCP when you are done. If you do in fact have an IP conflict you should also change the switch to a different static IP.
You can also access the switch using a console cable. You can check the settings and see if the web interface has been disabled or you can reset the password in case you lost it. Check the Admin Guide for details:

  • Inactive (or broken) reset button on my Ze

Hello! I recently tried using the recovery tool on my zen V to diagnose any issues. The player had been charging on the computer for some time but was not being recognized by the computer itself (not unusual). So when I tried to use the recovery tool, it obviously said there was no player connected and thus couldn't continue the diagnosis. That is fine and dandy but the problems now are much much worse... After that, I tried removing it and re-plugging it in. The player was detected but not recognized by the computer (strange, I've used it on this computer before). I wasn't overly concerned yet but then the player itself started acting strangely --> freezing while "restoring library". I used the reset button and went to the recovery mode to reboot the player. The player rebooted successfully and restarted the song it had cutoff when the battery died. I tried going to other menus and then the player froze again. Once again, I used the reset button to get into recovery mode and tried to re-boot. It once again froze when trying to restore the library... so I tried the reset button yet again. Finally it loaded, started playing the song again and when I tried switching the menu, it froze YET again! Now, my reset button will not work and it is stuck with the screen on, sitting in the menu section. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do I've owned the player for < year.

  • Will Apple replace iPhone 5 for broken lock button, if under warranty ?

I've had my iPhone 5 around 5 months.
For a few days the button has been sticking, and I've had to press it around 6 times to get it to lock/wake.
However today, the button is totally stuck and isn't even clicking at all.
It's still in warranty, however I haven't got AppleCare or insurance with O2.
On Apple's support page, it stated I can send it off to be repaired, however, this can take 7 days.
If I make a Genius appointment, and go into the store, do they sent it off or replace it you there and then.
    Thanks

If it's defective, as opposed to physically damaged due to accident or abuse, then Apple will replace the phone.
If you make an appointment and take it in to the genius bar, they should be able to replace it on the spot.

  • Ultrabeat - reset button

    HI
The reset button on Ultrabeat doesn't seem to be having any effect at all. When in Step mode pressing it does not make the values of the selected parameters (re)set to one?
    Manual
    • Reset: All off set values for the selected parameters set to 0(no offset).
    • A second click on the Reset button removes the parameter from the off set menu.
Note: The Reset button at the left of the velocity/gate row changes to Delete when
clicked once. This Delete button mirrors the behavior of the Delete command: It deletes
all steps for the currently selected parameter.
I am finding that none of what the the manual says above actually works
Is anybody else finding this? In L8 I'm sure that the reset button did something.
    Thanks

    zalermon, welcome to the discussions!
There is a workaround for the broken reset button, but the trick will be to get AirPort Utility to identify the Time Capsule (TC) so that you can access the menus.
Power down the TC for a few minutes as well as your computer. Connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the Time Capsule directly to your computer.
Restart the TC and let it run for a few minutes, then restart your computer and open AirPort Utility to see if the application can "see" the TC. If this is not successful at first, leave AirPort Utility open for 10-15 minutes. Sometimes the TC will just "appear" after a period of time.
If you can get Airport Utility to see the TC, click on Manual Setup.
Now go the the Base Station menu at the top of your screen in the toolbar next to the Apple icon. Select "Restore Default Settings". This will accomplish the same task as a hard reset and will return the TC to factory defaults.
Once the TC restarts, you may need to repeat the procedure to find the TC so that you can reconfigure it.

  • Will warranty cover a broken sleep button and scratches?

Will warranty cover a broken sleep button and scratches?

Only if Apple decides the breakage is a result of a defect in the switch.  Ordinarily, no, accidental damage or breakage from simple time & use, and cosmetic damage from use are not covered under warranty.

  • Broken lock button and limited headphone connectivity covered?

Would a broken lock button and limited headphone connectivity be covered in the 1 year limited warranty?
It's hardware, but I'm unsure if it's counted as physical damage or not. It's a long drive to an Apple store and I don't want to waste gas to get a 'no'.

Covered by warranty unless the damage is due to abuse.  If the iPod is all beat up and dented Apple may say it is due to abuse.  If it just shows normal wear it should be covered under warranty.

  • HT1212 resetting phone with broken lock button

I bought a used iPhone 4S (which did not have a passcode on it) with a broken lock button. When I turned on the phone after a full charge, it said to update the OS. So, I did. All of a suddent there was a passcode on the phone. I asked her the passcode and I tried what she told me. Well, I tried it too many times and now the phone is disabled and says to connect to iTunes. I've set up an iTunes account (at the direction of the Verizon store), but cannot figure out how to reset the phone from iTunes. Any advice?

Read the article you were just at: iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong ...
That's how you handle this issue.
If you can't turn off the phone to perform recovery mode because the Sleep/Wake button is damaged, then you won't be able to do anything on the phone with recovery or DFU mode.  You'll probably have to replace the device.

  • HT1349 I would like to know if the power lock button is covered under warranty.

I would like to know if the power lock button is covered under warranty.

couple of quick questions, when was your purchase date I.E. are you within 90 days of purchase, if so i suggest calling iOS/iPhone support, as you're within your 90 days of complimentary phone service and they could answer the question along with getting everything set up to for a repair, either through mailing in, or with an appointment at your closest apple retail store. also, did you get the applecare+? that covers two incidents of accidental damage for about 49 dollars to replace, as opposed to the price of an uncovered replacement which can start at 4 times as much. if its not accidental damage, you should be covered.
-full disclosure: these views/statements not endorsed/approved/etc by apple, just my own working knowledge from publicly available information.

  • Reset button is broken.  Which pins do I short to reset my Airport Extreme to factory defaults?

I'm working on a 4th Generation Airport Extreme A1354.  I do not know the password and I was not able to perform the software, hardware, or factory default reset procedures.  (I never got the fast blinking amber light.)
I suspected a broken reset switch and took the gray cover off to find the reset button was indeed broken.  Upon slight maneuvering, the button fell off the board.
I think I can perform a factory default reset by jumpering where the reset switch was.  Which pins do I short to perform the factory default procedure without the reset button working?
Trying to upload pictures that show my issue.

I don't often work on extreme.. mostly Time Capsule.. but the switch is surface mount.. no pins go through the board.. you will need to lift the board right out of the frame, (it all comes out in one piece and is fairly easy to do).. and you will need to short the two pins right at the switch .. but hopefully with it right out the switch itself will become accessible.

  • How to fix a disabled iPhone 5 with broken home button?

I've beeing searching for two days online for trying to fix this problem. I have a disabled iPhone 5 (iOS 7) with a broken Power Button, I want to restore it to its factory defaults but it isn't working.
    1) I can't put the iPhone into recovery mode since the power button is broken.
    2) Once I plug that iPhone on my MacBook, iTunes asks for trust confirmation from my side althgouh the iPhone is disabled and I can't access it to trust that computer.
    3) I tried to multiple solutions but they didn't didn't work; I even tried to reset my iPhone using "Accessibility Options" but it didn't work.
    What can I do?

Free phone support is 90 days. Yes they will charge you to call. No, they will NOT charge you to take it to the genius bar. If it's within 1 year, they will replace it if it's covered.
There are no magic words that will get you past the fact that it's physically broken.  Make an appointment and make the trip to the genius bar.
