Broken Ringtones and Message Alerts
I have updated both my Iphone 3GS to the latest ver. 5.0.1, but all my ringtones and message alerts sounds like broken tunes and sometimes get stuck on one note for a few seconds. Any advise?
Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:

Ringtones and BBM alerts not working
Hi, I have created several custom ringtones and phone alerts on both mine and my husbands new BB 9320's . These were working just fine for the first few weeks but now the custom BBM alerts will not work on my phone but the custom ringtones do work. Instead of the custom alert I've selected the alert sound for the normal profile is the one that sounds. However the custom alerts DO work for text messages ! Just not BBM !
My husbands phone has the exact opposite problem, BBM alerts work, ringtones don't !
The problem seems to have happened after I had installed some various Apps . So I uninstalled all those apps and I've done both a soft reboot and battery pull on each phone trying to fix this. I also deleted those contacts and their custom alert set-ups and re-added everything from scratch, rebooted again, still nothing. It's been like this for a few weeks now, I just can't figure it out . The media cache might be corrupted, here's a fix.

I have a question regarding my txt/alert tones. I recently updated my iPhone 5's software without first backing it up on iCloud or my computer (oops). After my phone finished updating, i lost the new ringtones and txt/alert tones i had bought. I connected my iPhone to my computer and sync'd it hoping that it could download my purchases from the itunes store and then put them back on to my phone but no such luck. When i look at my iphone on my computer and look at tones, they do not show up at all. However, if i click on the "On This iPhone" tab and click on "Tones" the deleted ringtones and altert tones show up...they are just grey'd out and have a dotted circle to the left of them. I also tried to go to the iTunes store on my phone and redownload them and it tells me that i have already purchased this ringtone and asks me if i want to buy it again. I press Cancel. I know when i do that with music it would usually let me redownload the song without buying it again but it wont let me with the ringtones...so how do i get them back? any help would be greatly appreicated

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Having different ringtones and text alerts for different contacts
Hi I've had Samsung phones for a while and have recently swapped to an iPhone. Can you assign different ringtones and text alerts for contacts, android have an app called ringolite - is there anything similar on App Store?? Many thanks

I recently upgraded to an iphone 6. I have a macbook pro running Mavericks, and when I connected the phone to my mac for the first time following the purchase of the ringtone and alert tone in question, following the sync they no longer appear under settings on my phone.
Looking at iTunes, they show under "on my device" with a dotted circle next to them...yet they're not available to me when I try and select them on the phone itself.
Is there a setting I need to ensure is checked in order to sync them correctly and have them available to use on my phone? Surely, if purchased under my Apple ID and if the iTunes store account on my mac is linked to my Apple ID all should be well? The didnt cost v much but I object to having to pay again when Ive already done so!The 'open' button only show after you've installed it on your phone, the cloud symbol imdicates that the app is only in the cloud - if you tap on the cloud icon it should download onto your phone.

Call sounds & message alert sounds don't always work on iPhone 6.
When I check settings etc, it should all be fine. And it's not on silent.

[N95 8Gb] No more MP3 ringtones and message tones....

Last night I cleared my N95 8Gb of all the music and tranferred some new albums with Nokia Music afterwards. Now I'm not able to select any song or sound effect from my music collection as ringtone anymore!!
I can select a song in Music Player and set it as ringtone but I cannot go via settings and browse my MP3's... The same goes for message tones: I'm only able to select the standard **bleep** ringtones and none of the sound effects I uploaded as MP3 using Nokia Music.
I beginning to be amazed at how **bleep** Nokia Music can possibly be: before, everything worked like a charm and I was totally pleased with my N95 8Gb but now I can't even do the most basic things due to this piece of junk that Nokia calls Nokia Music...I have a similar problem (N95-1). All the songs i have (about 400+) will not show up. When i remove the memory card, all the songs on the phone shows up. Try this fix (I am using the latest firmware).
Navigate to the Home Media App (Main Menu>Tools>Connectivity>Home Media), Share Content: Select Options (Left Softkey), then refresh contents. It will take some time depending on the number of songs, videos and photos you have. After it has finished refreshing, you should be able to select any song from the phone or memory card from within the tones menu. -
How to set up ical to send email AND message alerts by default
How do I set up iCal to send me an email alert and a message with sound 15 minutes before the event by default so that I don't have to remember to do this everytime I add an event in iCal (which by the way I can't remember)?

It will still play my music out of The speaker. But when I get a message or someone calls me it only vibrates doesn't make any noise. And if I try and watch anything on YouTube I need to put my headphones into hear it.
Check the Mute/Silent Switch on the Side...
Have a look in Settings > Sound...

After downloading ios7, I do not get calls and message alerts. I see missed calls and new messages!
Check to see if Do Not Disturb is turned on in Settings.

Why are my purchased ringtones and alert tones being removed from phone?
I Have brought a ringtone and two alert tones twice and both times all have been wiped from phone and default tone put back???

When I get downloaded ringtones and message tones into custom tones menu. I cannot get them to play an alert message. What am I missing here. Seem to be going backward with every new gadget I get.

Ok, chances are this has been asked before as i'm a new user of the i-phone, sorry if it has.
How do i get a none i-tunes ringtone onto my phone, I recently downloaded 2 soundbites, 1 for a ringtone and 1 for a message tone, so how do I get them to work as ringtones and message tones.
Secondly, how do I send an attatchment, there is no option given to either bluetooth to another phone or add attatchments to e-mails.
I'm giving it untill tuesday then the phone will go back if it won't do what I want it to do.

Martin.You can use Google to find out how to make ringtones for iphone out of most any sound file.
You CANNOT make a custom text sound/message sound. This is not a feature of iphone.
You cannot add attachments (as you cannot store files on iphone)or use bluetooth to transfer files. You can forward an e-mail with attachment. You can e-mail pics.

Out of the Box alerts and messages. Necessary?

I have installed Grid Control and I am monitoring a couple of Hosts and DB's and well, before I even did that I noticed that Grid had a whole bunch of Critical and warning alerts along with Policy Vioalations. Now I assume these are out of the box alerts and messages, cause some of them seems pretty dumb to me. I know we can change them to change the values but I just wanted to make sure if I should really worry about these or not? Are they really serious. Some of them don't make any sense to me and I have been trying to look online at places where I can find out what they mean exactly and how to correct them. Does anyone know how to. These messages are just annoying and I would like to log in to Grid and see no alerts or violations. Here are some examples of what I am talking about. Any advice or help is much appreciated :)

How would I be able to pull up all of the text messages tat were in my phone over the course of 2 years and back them up to my computer since my phone has a broken screen and can no longer read the mesages.
If the messages are stored on the device and you can power the device up you can use the application posted at https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/770529 , the application has a screen capture option and you can use the screen as a guide to install MyBackup from Market or a number of backup apps from Market and then you can run the applications and backup data to your SD Card to restore to the replacement device.
