Broken screen/display envy 6 1061 ef

Dear all,
I have an ultrabook hp envy 6 1061 ef that is working fine.  Except that the screen got broken and is detached on one end.  I just moved to DC.  Is there a possibility to buy a new screen from the hp store? or to have the ultrabook sent for repair?
Thanks in advance

Hi envy6_1061,
Welcome to the HP Forums! There are a couple of options to get your Ultrabook repaired. If you are in warranty (one year from date of purchase) then you can call HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or visit this link if you are outside North America and HP will fix it for you. If you are out of warranty calling HP is still an option but you would be charged for the service.
You can purchase a new screen as well. The part number is 686602-001 and you can order it from several different places online or you can use HP PartSurfer. You will have to enter your product number to pull up your model and select your country in the upper right hand corner. If you want to do it yourself on page 32 of the Maintenance and Service Guide you will find out how to replace it.

  • Late 2008 MacBook Pro 17" broken screen display

I have been using my old MacBook Pro (A1261) for some design work since 2008. It's been a good sport and I love it dearly. Unfortunatelly, recently my screen started working intermittently. This week it has died completely. I am not convinced it's worth having it repaired as it might cost more that the laptop itself. Could anybody help me view my display using another laptop or TV? I have previously been able to view it's display on my LG TV (even when  the mac displayed wasn't working) using the DVI External Display Port but I have changed my display settings so I am unable to connct it now. I have also been able to detect its display on my Mac Book Air but again, I must have changed the setting because I get no luck this time. I have been using BootCamp and most of my design work sit in the Windows part (pardon my lack of IT jargon) so perhaps I could retreive it using a PC??? Any help would be much appreciated

You are right about the cost of screen replacement if you have it done (by Apple $700-600, by others $400-500, approximately.) I spoke to my (authorized independent) Mac repair shop when a friend trashed his screen and my Mac guy told me to replace it for him (I'm a geek) because I could do it for under $200 in parts and the DIY instructions on ifixit dot com. If you're a little geeky and have a couple of tiny tools, you can too.
Your other option is to use the mini displayport to hook up to a HDTV or external monitor.  I can't tell you the exact procedure because this is the Mac Pro forum, not the MacBook Pro forum and I don't know all the details for those tiny machines. I figure if you wrote that post you can also read, so I'd suggest reading the Mac Help files that are included in the OS. It can't be that hard.
    good luck

  • HT4044 Part of my iPad(1st gen) screen display does not show, hence I can only see it partially. It was not dropped and neither is it broken. Any help as I was told it cant be fixed and i hv 2 replace with a new unit i.e. pay in full as warranty is over? HE

Part of my iPad screen display does not show. It was not dropped and neither is the screen broken. I was advised to see the local service provider for a diagnosis.
I had finally managed to find time to find a local service provider last week (not easy) and was disappointed to be advised of Apple's policy of one for one exchange i.e. they wont repair and said that i would have to replace with a whole unit. As my unit is no longer under warranty, it meant that I had to pay for the full price of a new unit!
I might as well have paid for the latest new unit but since my unit is only 2 years old at most, it would be a great waste of money.
How can this be? Does this mean apple's product is inferior and do not last since warranty is only for one year?
I sincerely hope there is a favourable solution otherwse my money is flushed down the drain.
    HELP!!!

I was using my iPad last night, shut the power off and when I turned it on this morning 2/3 of the screen is not working.  It looks like the pandalela picture. What is the answer to fix this; is this a screen issue or and electronics issues.  Has anybody else experienced this?

  • HP On-Screen Display Utility for HP Envy 14 Beats LTD.

I had my hard drive replaced because the stock HDD stopped working abruptly. A fresh install of windows left me with a number of missing drivers an utilities.  I found most from software and drivers hp support page for my notebook but there's one problem I could not find the solution for.
I gather that I need the HP On-Screen Support Utility for my notebook because pressing the brightness and audio buttons no longer brings up the on-screen slider. Additionally, the Beats logo doesn't show up with the FN+B function.

  • Installing Windows XP on Macbook Pro 17 inch with broken screen...

My Macbook Pro 17 inch's (2.16 ghz, 2006) screen is broken, and displays only the top 1/4 accurately, with the lower 3/4 a series of lines, etc...
Up until recently, the screen would work after a period of time so long as I did not move it. However, now, it is a complete loss, as mentioned above.
My problem is that I cannot install Windows XP using bootcamp because I cannot see what on earth I am doing! And the last thing I want to do is accidently format my OS X partition while blindly fumbling around in the Windows XP boot screen.
I was able to install (obviously) Leopard by closing the laptop screen immediately after startup, forcing the computer to use my external monitor. This, however, does not work once the computer begins the windows installer, it simply reverts back to the laptop screen.
Any advice would be of great help! I have searched forum after forum, but have found no one with a similar problem.
    Thank you!
p.s.- you'd think a $3200 laptop would last a little longer. So far I have replaced the HD twice, as well as the left internal cooling fan...

  • Screen display garbled when downloading a file

In FF 5 I often get a garbled screen display when dowloading a file (by garbled I mean that the display is broken into numerous rectangles; the display appears to be similar to that of a driver/monitor/card not being compatible). The display will sometimes correct itself if I minimize and then maximize FF, but not always.
The problem does not occur in IE, Opera, Safari, Chrome, nor in any other program.
Could a plugin possibly be the cause? I can work around the problem simply by not using FF for downloads, but I wanted to pass along the information if it might be a bug in FF5.
    Here is a screenshot: http://firstimpressions.websitedesigningamarillo.com/firefoxscreenshotcropped.jpg

Thanks for the info! Yea, I thought my video card was dying when I first saw it. The driver is the latest, and everything else looks ok too.
Over the past couple of hours I disabled all plug-ins and extensions, and still had the problem. I chose to down-grade to verison 4 which now works fine. Version 3 was also a good choice but I use the HTML validator that requires version 4 (world's absolute best add-on ever for my use).
I'm guessing that my video card isn't playing nice with FF5, so until I upgrade the card I will stick with FF4. I installed a new theme and now I'm happier than ever with FF. :)

  • Connecting a DELL  monitor to a broken screen G4 powerbook

    Hi
I want to connect a tft monitor to a broken screen G4. Can I do this without being able to use the computer screen to configure the settings.
......I was thinking about a std VGA connection into the mini DVI via an adaptor......but then realized it might not be the 'plug and play' simplicity I had first thought it might be.
Maybe someone has done this and had some success!
    thanks
    Ral

You might want to repost in the 12-inch PowerBook area instead of the 17-inch forum. My 17" has a full-size DVI port, not the mini, so finding people who've tried multiple adapters may be easier in the other forum.
Still, I believe that, as long as the computer detects the second display at startup, it should "just work."

Verify your Powerbook G4 you have is indeed a mini-DVI and not a mini-VGA port Powerbook G4. There were in fact two distinct releases!
Given you posted in the 12" Powerbook G4 forum, note these images:
    the port is a mini-DVI.
    the port labeled "6" is a mini-VGA.
Use the F7 key to toggle to external display.

  • Broken Screen... HELP!      DVI/S-Video

    Hello Apple Friends,
I recently bought a 2nd hand Titanium G4 Powerbook off a guy I know. I had used it before, and knew it to be a good machine. Unfortunately, the warranty has run out, but then the hinges went. I knew they were about to go and just wanted to use it as a desktop. Unfortunately, I moved house and the screen must have been knocked, and now I can not get a picture. I can tell the computer is still working fine, but the screen isn't.
I've been told its a DVI model and I can plug it into an external screen either using a DVI cable or an S-video cable. Although I understand that monitors take VGA cables. Does anyone have any experience or advice concerning this?
    All help welcome.
    Tom

You can obtain displays that use different types of interfaces. Many of the displays distributed by Wintel manufacturers, certainly most cheaper ones, still use VGA, but there are many who are also embracing DVI. Apple, for example, has been using DVI technology for several years; all of the currently shipping Cinema displays are DVI. A 20-inch Cinema display is a great companion to a 15-inch PowerBook (even if it has a broken screen).
Having said that, if you have broken hinges, and the computer was subject to some sort of trauma with that display floating around and not latched, you could have jerked loose the display connectors. If that is what happened, reseating the connectors could possibly fix the video on the internal display.
I'd take the machine to a local Apple service provider or Apple Store. They can verify whether that is the case, and they could also verify that your computer will work with a DVI display (that there is not a bigger video issue of some sort) - I'm sure they'd be more than happy to sell you one, too.

  • Backup and sync iPhone with broken screen

I recently dropped my iPhone 5s and broke the display.  The phone itself is fine; I can still hear it receive text messages and emails but the screen iself is blacked out.  I am assuming that it is a hardware problem.  Anyway, my friend tried to reset by pressing the home and power button.  Now, whenever I plug the phone into a charger or my computer, the phone emits an incessant beeping noise every 5 seconds.  What is this noise?  And also, I can no longer use features on my phone like Siri and such after my friend tried to reset the phone.  Is my phone broken?  I cannot really tell if this is a problem that can be fixed with a new screen or if there is something worse wrong with my phone.
Additionally, I have tried to backup my phone by connecting to my computer but it doesn't allow a backup to take place because it needs a passcode to be entered on the phone itself which, of course, is impossible since my display is broken.  However, I was able to synchronize my phone to my computer.  My question is that, if I get a completely new phone, can I restore to a previous backup and then synchronize to the most recent synchronization?  Also, if you have any knowledge on the other questions, I would greatly appreciate some information.  Thanks!

    Hello,
I apologise if this is a really stupid question.
I last backed up my phone a few weeks ago, carried on taking pictures with it etc, and then dropped it, breaking the screen which turned black with a single white line down the middle.
I can receive calls by guessing where to swipe so it is sort of working.
A new iPhone is in the post, but I can't back this phone up because I get the following message when I try:
"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be backed up."
I have been searching the web, but can't find a way to unlock the phone.
So (unless anyone has a genius idea, in which case I will love them forever), what will I lose if I don't sync?
I don't think I should lose the photos I took since my last sync, since Photostream should take care of that, no?
    Many thanks, C
There is no way for you to backup with a broken screen.
You will lose whatever wasn't backup.

  • Apple Product Replacement & broken screens

Before I box up my Ipod and pay for a courier to the repair center I would like to know if the "Apple Product Replacement Request" will repair a shattered screen? I have an estimate of $125, but when filling out the request there was no option under "display" for broken screens just malfunctioning ones. Am I better off taking it to an Apple Store (2hrs away)? Any advice?

Actually Apple will replace your iPod with a refurbished one. Apple charges a flat-rate depending upon iPod model and capacity.  That is why a broken screen is not specifically stated.  For further info see:

  • ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration 3.89.0000 On Screen Display and Mute Button Fail

I am installing updates on a T400 system running WIndows 7 Pro 64-bit.
The system has been freshly factory restored and all features work properly...
After running System Restore to update to the latest drivers and recommended software, I find Thinkpad Hotkey Features Integration 3.89.0000 breaks features.
I am able to use Hotkeys to change brightness up/down, Fn+F5, Fn+F6, etc. The volume up and down keys work to change volume. The mute button does not work at all! There is no On Screen Display to show the adjustment settings for any Hotkeys.
I have found that installing the older 3.88.0000 (8jvu40ww.exe) version of ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration works successfully with mute button functionality as well as the On Screen Display features.
Comparing what is different between the 3.89.0000 and 3.88.0000 versions, I find On Screen Display version and Full Screen Magnifier have advanced. The version information table at the bottom of the software download page is inconsistent compared to what is actually reported from the 3.88.0000 setup.exe:
    Setup shows:
    On Screen Display 6.71.00
    Full Screen Magnifier 2.40
    The table shows:
    On Screen Display 6.72.00
    Full Screen Magnifier 2.41
The System Interface Driver is 1.05 on all the recent versions.
With the 3.89.0000 version installed, I cannot uninstall and go back to the older version to get it working. Instead, I have to do a System Restore to a point previous to the newest install... something changes in the new version but I am not yet sure what.
I have no warranty on this system. Lenovo technical support is unwilling to entertain a conversation about solving this issue with their software unless I purchase a support package. Perhaps someone from Lenovo reads this forum and/or one of the community members has a contact or option so that I may report the issue to those who are responsible for resolving Lenovo software issues. I am hopeful they can solve it in their next release so that I do not have to hide the current version from System Update.
If anyone has ideas on what causes the latest On Screen Display or Full Screen Magnifier to disable the mute button and prevent On Screen Display from working... I would love to try and solve that problem. Additionally, if you have ideas on what prevents uninstalling and going back to an older version, that would also be helpful as I would not like to rely on System Restore.
If there is no solution other than to avoid 3.89.0000 it is what I will do and this message will help others so they do not spend hours to confirm the issue is with the 3.89.0000 version rather than suspecting hardware issues.
trying to figure out the source of the trouble.
Thank goodness Lenovo offers previous versions in a table at the bottom of the pages so we can try older versions and go back to what works. It is a shame they do not advertise a link or other option to report bugs and issues with Lenovo software/drivers directly.

This is the roulette you play with updating functions that are already working properly.
If it's not broken, don't fix it. Do the release notes describe a fix or enhancement that you want? No? Then leave it alone. Hiding updates in Lenovo Update is the easiest solution.  For RChesley, in this case.
Bob, I realize that you want the function that the update is supposed to deliver, but the update has failed you.  It's like installing version 1.0.0 of software sometimes, with Lenovo Update.  You're never quite sure what you're going to get.  There's tons of posts here that read as though the users are beta testers--installing updates and finding the bugs!  So the developers can go back to the code and try again.
I've learned to never be an early adopter here.

  • Nokia 6280 broken screen

Through 3 I purchased a new 6280. Within days it fell out of my pocket with the result of a broken screen (only a minor crack but screen display completely gone). Would appreciate any advise on how to get it fixed or how to source a new screen?

I said TRS are a main repair agent for 3, I never said if they are good or not. Having been in the trade for more than a few years most of the big repair hubs are a bit useless. TRS do sometimes give prefferential rates to help 3 customers stay on line.
CRC are not without their problems either. Seen the mobile press recently ? What a really shocking state of affairs, but then again I'm not shocked, I always knew they were bad, it's just taken ages and ages to make it public knowledge.
Then there's MPRC in Stoke, then again part of Caudwell, so enough said.
The only ones I would trust with my own Nokia if I had to are some of the smaller independants or perhaps Intec in North London.

  • Hello. Trying to replace broken screen on daughter's laptop. Laptop is an HP DV6T-7000 Quad

Hello. Trying to replace broken screen on daughter's laptop. Laptop is an HP DV6T-7000 Quad (bought in July, has the 3rd gen I-7 proc. and 610 graphics card). OEM screen is an LG LP156WH3(TL)(AC) according to the sticker on the back, which is a 1366 x 768 glossy. Would like to upgrade to the optional 1900 x 1080 full hd matte, which internet research leads me to think is model # LP156WF4(SL)(B3). Can anyone verify the part # and if it is just a screen swap-no new cables required? Thanks! Sid
