Broken SIM TRAY after service

I gave my Lumia 720 for service and while returning back SIM TRAY was broken. Even after a long argument the service person refused to replace the part.
Let me know how to take measures against the particular Service centre and How to get the tray replaced.

  • Broken Sim Tray - No receipt

    Hello all,
I've enjoyed my Z10 for a few weeks now but I encountered a big problem now. After switching from my nano simcard with sim adapter to the regular (and new) micro sim no sim card is being recognized. A friend of my told me this could be because of the pins inside the sim tray / sim card holder are broken. After checking this it appears that indeed for at least one pin is missing / broken.
I am trying to getting this fixed but I haven't got a receipt / ticket (Sorry, I don't know the proper word for it). Here in Holland manufacturers have to accept the product if it is returned for any damage within I believe 6 months. It does not mean that it should be fixed or anything but they at least have to figure out a solution. But I can't reach RIM / BlackBerry in any way.
Besides that I want to know if there is still any warranty and if so, does a broken sim tray get fixed within warranty?
Can anyone help me on this?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Broken SIM tray

    hi guys,
i managed to insert the SIM tray in the wrong way (don't ask how... i was on a bus, wasn't paying attention etc). it got stuck, i pulled it out and part of it broke off.
what should i do? i guess i should call apple, as there could be bits of the tray inside the iphone. but i'm worried that it will be enormously expensive, as it's obviously my fault (and not covered by warranty). alternatively, i could get some local guy to repair it and get a cheap SIM tray off ebay - but this would of course void the warranty.
    thanks for any help!

thanks to all for the replies.
to clarify, the SIM tray broke as i pulled it out (bottom side of the rectangle-shaped tray came off). a piece of it visibly got stuck inside, i pulled that out. i'm not sure whether more bits are deeper inside, it seems clear when i look inside. when i insert what is left of the SIM tray (like a U shape) into the phone, it goes in perfectly. however, when i put a SIM on the tray and feed that in, it doesn't go in all the way and feels impeded.
so i figure that either there is another piece of the broken sim tray deep in there, or the side of the slot is bent so the SIM doesn't get seated properly.
thanks for that carl, i guess i should give apple a call and see how i go.

  • Blackberry Passport sim tray issue is prevalent and they will not fix it for you because it is your fault. Ridiculous.

I bought my Blackberry passport on Feb 13rd. Right out of the box the sim tray didn't read the sim. I thought it is my sim's problem, so I waited for another sim. New sim came in, still didn't read. After a long call with customer support and BB virtual support, I had my device sent in around mid March. They checked it and said I damaged the sim tray and I need to pay 268$ to have it fixed. I though it is ridiculous since I haven't done anything to the phone. So I argued with them and eventually they agreed to have my fixed without cost.
However when they sent me back the device, I poped in the sim and it only works for 1 day, on and off the second day and then not reading the sim at all after that. I think the sim tray's problem with the passport is prevalent and the pin can be broken by the simple act of poping in the sim card. My ATT sim is working perfectly fine on the 5s and my brother's iphone 6.
After 2 days of receiving the "repaired" device, I call them again and this time they said it is certainly my fault and if I send it in again, I will have to pay 268$ to have it fixed.
So I thought for people out ther if you have a passport, don't pop in and out the sim card. It can really easily be broken.
For me, I think now I just gonna use my "broken sim tray new passport" as a reading device. After 10 years, I will officially switch to other brand. Still love the keyboard though, but anyway.

Check that your sim card does not have a burr or edge on it before you insert it, as that may be what's damaging the SIM pins.
Site anly allow linlks to web images, so here's what the tray is supposed to look like - with the SIM cover on.
FWIW - a T3 torx driver is required to remove the screws around the SIM  and TF card tray cover. That would allow you to look at the underlying pins - and possibly - with a bit of luck, fix them on your own.

  • My brother purchased new ipad 4, 5 days ago and the sim tray stuck very first day. I gave it to jaipur service centre for repair and they are asking for 20000 Rs (price of ipad mini for just sim tray repair). What should i do?

    Dear All,
My brother just purchased an ipad4, 5 days ago and the very first day sim tray stuck. When i sent it to jaipur (rajasthan) service centre, they asked Rs 20,000 for repair and issuing new tray. This is the cost of new ipad mini, and they are giving me just one tray. It is also approx. half of the price of new ipad4. Even the new ipad is just 5 days old and should be repaired for free. If not free, is Rs 20,000 is fair?
Please tell me what should i do?
    Thanks!
    [email protected]

If the service center determined that the SIM socket was damaged by your brother, as would appear to be the case, and not due to a factory defect, they will charge for replacing the entire iPad, not just for the SIM tray. Apple at this time replaces the iPad for just about any problem, and charges a flat fee for doing so.
If this service center is one authorized by Apple, your brother can try calling Apple Support India at (91) 1800 4250 744 and discussing the situation with them. Ultimately, though, it is the technician's judgement as to what caused the problem, and Apple will usually take the word of the technician when it comes to determination of user-caused damage.
    Regards.

  • Broken 3GS sim tray - need some info PLS

I had to pull a little harder than normal on the white (exterior visible part) of the sim tray and it broke.
Can you tell me how can I get a new one that has the IMEI code and serial number on it??
I'm asking here first because I'm not sure if you can get in touch with apple via email and also I might get an answer faster.
    Thank you.

If you contact Apple or make appointment at Apple Store they can get a new SIM Tray with the compatible #'s exactly for your iPhone. Once ordered it may take a few days for them to get it in for you. Also they may charge you a small fee. Hopefully you can show them the old tray and they will just do it for free.

  • Broken sim reader iphone 4s

I recently bought an iPhone 4s from a friend. After inserting the microsim, I realised that the phone was locked to orange (I'm on O2). I attempted to remove the sim card in order to take it into a shop to be unlocked, but the sim tray was stuck at around 2.5mm. After some researching I found that this appeared to be a common problem for people with micro sims. The repair shop had to take the entire phone apart to finally remove the sim, and apparently in the process broke a spring/ discovered a broken spring in the sim reader. The question I am asking is, if I take it to a genius bar will they replace/ repair the phone? Is this free? The warranty is still well within date but because it is second hand does this mean it's invalid? If so, how do I change my details so the phone is registered to me?
    Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I think he said something about a jail break but I heard this wasn't ideal as it wouldn't be able to update. Do I just contact orange and ask them for an unlock code or something?

  • IPhone 5 sim tray missed

I lost my iPhone 5 sim tray black colour I bought mobile in Kuwait but now am in India, tamilnadu when I contact service centre in my home town here in Madurai they told sim tray will not suit my phone which is brought from other country, so please help me were to buy sim tray.

Check with any disreputable street vendor whether he has a broken, damaged, dead iPhone 5 corpse he can sell. Probably quicker than wrangling with the "official" vendors who will be nasty like wjosten explains.

  • IPhone 3GS can not detect SIM Card after upgraded to iOS 6.0.1

Guys I really need your advice please...
I upgraded my iPhone 3GS 32GB from iOS 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 a couple weeks ago and since then it can not detect the my SIM Card ever. Before it's been upgraded, the phone was working just fine, but now it's just like a gameboy to me. I've been trying to find solution and some stores want me too pay quite amount of money to fix it but I refused.
By the way, it has been jailbroken with RedSnow, tethered of course... and all the features are working perfectly, the WiFi is working, syncing is working, Bluetooth is working, downloading apps from App Store is okay, but only Mail and Safari won't work. I haven't got a chance to go to Apple Service Center to fix it yet, but the store I went said that Apple may say the same.
    Thanks in advance.
ps to Admin: I'm a newbie, so if I posted this in the wrong room please forgive me.

    Thanks Chris for your solution.
But just for you know that I bought Apple to get the 'after service', they should've warn the users not to upgrade to a higher OS if it can caused the phone 'dead'. Mine was totally unusable when it's just been upgraded. It stayed in the recovery mode and couldn't be restored. So I brought it to the nearest store and they did that to me, and eventually the phone is working, only it cannot detect my SIM Card...
The problem is not about upgrading an iPhone to a newer version of iOS.  Your problem was upgrading a hacked phone, one of the well known consequences of which is re-locking and/or bricking the entire device when restoring in iTunes.  You chose to hack your phones firmware and operating system, so you must accept the consequences of going outside the bounds of normal use that Apple prescribes and supports.
Had you not hacked it in the first place, you likely would have never had a problem, and if you had, Apple would have offered support to deal with it.  Your choice, your decision, your consequences.

  • My 4s phone getting hot in sim tray side so i need a solution

my 4s phone getting hot in sim tray side so i need a solution?

They are free at Corporate Verizon stores; retailers usually charge for them.  You also can call Customer Service and have them send you one.
And you don't need a SIM card to activate an iPhone 4S on VzW's network.
