    ps.
    i want to add. some additional information, my 5. speaker doesn't have digital output, the line out for the sub woofer and centre are red and white line just like the same as the other speaker line, i don't know weather it will cause the front doesn't work or not, but i had read some post it said "In the <B>Creative Mixer</B>, be sure to <B>disable</B> the option for <B>Digital Output Only</B>, and set the number of speakers accordingly. For example, if you have a 5. channel speaker system, select 5.."

  • Voltage question for Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers

    Hi, I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure if this question has been answered in the past, but...
    I just moved back States-side after living in Pakistan for about 6 months, and I brought my Pakistan-bought Inspire 5200 speakers. I don't know if I should buy a voltage converter or whatever.
    On the AC adaptor, it says "PRL. :230V~50Hz 320 mA... SEC. : 2V ~ 4.2A". I read up a little on this stuff, and, unless I'm mistaken, in Pakistan, the voltage is 220V and 50Hz, while in the US, its 110V and 60Hz.
    Is it safe to use the speakers here WITHOUT a voltage converter or a step-down transformer?
    If it isn't safe, then what specific things do I need to pick up from Radioshack to make sure my speakers work and don't short-circuit or fry?
    Thanks.

    If you use the right step down transformer than it's perfectly safe. The problem is, step down transformer worsen the sound a lot unless you use the very expensi've one. But if you can't hear the different than it's good then, trust your own ear anyway. I think the best way is to change the adaptor.

  • Sliding volume controller for main timeline.

    I am trying to change the volume on my sound files which are located on the main timeline.(sync = streaming)
    I can use a allSound.setVolume(#) to control the sound level across the timeline.
    But when trying to use a sliding volume control, I get confused.
    This is the code I used for the sliding volume controller
    this.ratio = 0;
    dragger.onPress = function() {
        this.startDrag(true, 0, 0, line._width, 0);
        this.onEnterFrame = function() {
            ratio = Math.round(this._x*100/line._width);
            _root.volume = ratio;
    dragger.onRelease = dragger.onreleaseOutside=stopDrag
    I started using this code for the volume control but haven't had any success with it yet.
    dragger.onPress = function() {
        StartDrag(3);
    If you have any suggestions or clues for where I could find a tutorial that would be great.
    Thanks,
    t.a.s.n.

    I'll offer this solution which I utilized some time ago (I don't often deal with sound, and I normally avoid postings concerning it in the forums).
    My sliding volume control is basically a two frame movieclip (volume_mc) which contains a volumeBtn object where the first frame code is:
    volumeBtn.onPress = function(){
    startDrag(volumeBtn, false,0,0,100,0);
    gotoAndStop(2);
    volumeBtn.onRelease = volumeBtn.onReleaseOutside = volumeBtn.onRollOut =function(){
    stopDrag();
    gotoAndStop(1);
    In frame 2 the code is:
    stop();
    this.onEnterFrame = function(){
    _parent.adjustVolume();
    In the parent timeline, the adjustVolume function is as follows:
    function adjustVolume(){
    currentVolume = volume_mc.volumeBtn._x;
    s.setVolume(currentVolume);
    I use the "_x" value mainly because my sliding length is 100 pixels, starting a 0 for the volumeBtn position.  But you should be able to utilize the percentage method you have to acquire a similar result.  The currentVolume variable is declared/assigned intially elsewhere in the parent code.

  • Connections for Inspire 5200 on a Dell Dimension

    Is anyone aware of the proper connections to utilize the built-in 5.1 audio on a Dell Dimension 8400?
    Are there any suggestions on which speaker system would be the best for a Dell Dimension if I should decide to replace my speakers?
    Dell's online owner's manual shows that the black jack is for surround and the white jack is for the center. I have the jack for the speaker system's FRONT speakers plugged into the surround jack and the CENTER/WOOFER plugged into the center jack.
    It would be nice to have real 5.1 sound coming from my computer since it's supposed to be able to handle it without using an Audigy card. I have an Audigy card in another computer, but I don't want to pull it if I don't have to.

    cconklin,
    Not sure about your onboard audio but you should connect the onboard audio Front jack to the speaker system front input jack, Rear/Surround jack to the speaker rear input jack and lastly the Center jack to the speaker Center/Subwoofer input.

  • Volume controller

    I've just realised that the volume controller for my Desktop Theatre DTT2220 is faulty; whilst it turns the speakers on/off, it no longer alters the volume. Since this is classified as "End of Service Life" I cant get in contact with customer support, so what are my options? Can I buy a replacement from Creative? Wil any Creative remote be OK as replacement, or do I need a certain one?

    The following solution has worked for me and other users with exactly the same problem. The only problem is that you'll have to do this a cpl of times a month or more, but it beats banging your head against the wall of customer support.
    Your volume controller hopefullly just needs cleaning.
    Take the screws off the back of the volume controller. The case is snapped on as well as screwed, so after removing the screws gently remove the back of the case trying not to?break anything. Just keep working it and squeezing it till it comes off. The cord and circuit board assembly will then come out together.
    Remove the screw holding the black volume knob on. Then pull of the white piece of paper covering the inside of the volume. Wet a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol and work it into the inside of the volume where the metal contacts are. Use the Q-tip to spin the volume contacts back and forth.
    Unfortunately, you can't actually get to the part that needs cleaning the most which is the underside of the copper contacts but by keep all the parts wet with alcohol and spinning the contacts back and forth for about a minute, you should be able to get it all clean enough for it to work well for another couple of weeks before it needs cleaning again.
    If you don't have any rubbing alcohol, Listerine will also work. But get a bottle of rubbing alcohol for future cleaning.
    I'll be slightly surprised if a moderator doesn't warn that by doing this, you'll void the warranty. But most of these volume controls are already out of warranty and your only other courses of action are to try and get them to sell you a replacement for $5 which will probably do the same thing in 6 months or go and buy a new speaker system from another manufacturer. Anyway customer support for Creative isn't all that bad, I've dealt with much worse and they do answer posts in this forum which they're not abliged to do.
    I just wish they had a comprehensi've response for the volume control problem. Something in the knowlegde base would be great.
    I think Creative products really are great. I have only Sony and Creative in my house. I have a Creative Zen 30 gig mp3 player which was way less expensi've than my friends 20 gig I-pod. And my mp3 player doesn't copy protect every single song you put on it. I've had it more than a year now and it still works as good as the day I got it.

  • "Inspire 5200 5.1 HELP!!! no sound!

    "Inspire 5200 5.1 HELP!!! no sound! Hey guys, i just recently got an inspire 5200 5.1 system and hooked it up. All connections are great and are connected properly to the sound card (all colors to all colors). The problem i have is that i hear absolutely no sound from the speakers. I have checekd all the settings and am unable to locate the issue. I have a soundblaster 5.1 card (2 cards so i know my card is not a problem). I also tried connecting some headphones in the volume module and i can infact hear sound from the headphones. Is it possible this is a hardware issue with ALL the speakers?
    The only thing i can think of is the power source. The original power adapter was for the asian/euro market and i am in America. I have used a tiny converter switch that changes the euro interface (2 long circular pins) to the american outlet interface (two long rectangle pins). Could it be that the speakers are not getting sufficient power somehow by using this adapter? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    creek,
    You may have to check with your sound card manufacturer for special setting to upmix the Stereo to the rest of the speaker.
    If you are using Creative 5.1 sound card, you can refer to the link for the CMSS upmix feature.

  • Creative Inspire 5200 - Bass crackle

    Hi,
    I have creative inspire 5200 connected to Philips DVD Player. The combination works fine with less bass level. When i increase the bass level, i am experiencing crackle in subwoofer where as satellite speaker works fine(no distortion in sound). The distortion is not continuous, it comes and goes off(once in while). Please let me know the solution for this.
    Regards
    Abhinandan

    (Re: Creative Inspire 5200 - Bass crackle, abhinandan_gs,
    I suspect you're just overdriving the subwoofer input, and when you have an LFE signal, you're experiencing digital clipping.
    CL speakers are designed to accept an LFE-level signal which is 10dB softer than standard line-level. The DVD player is putting out line-level, and then the speakers are amplifying it +10db further, which puts it out of balance with the others. To test this, disconnect the subwoofer cable and see if the crackle goes away. I expect you will still have bass coming from the subwoofer, because the normal bass is in the non-LFE channels, and the speaker crossover will redirect that to the subwoofer, but I don't know what kind of bass management the DVD player might also do. If you think that's the problem, the next thing to do is to lower the subwoofer output 0dB before it reaches the speaker input. If you can't do that with the DVD player's controls, we can go into how to add a simple volume control to the subwoofer cable connection.

  • Inspire 5200 problems

    I have an Inspire 5200/Audigy 2 ZS combination that has worked fine for a couple of years (the speaker system has worked fine since I bought it in '02). However, after having updated the audigy drivers, I noticed (during a speaker test) that the left/right front speakers are at a normal volume, and the center/left and right rear speakers are very faint--so faint, in fact, I thought they were not working until I cranked up the volume. I've removed the drivers and reinstalled them, made sure that all physical connections were fine. I've checked volume settings and ensured that 5.1 setup was in the control panel. I can't find the Creative utility, though, that allowed me to change the volume levels for each individual speaker. What do I do now? Thanks.

    KokChoy-CL thanks for your advice but i do not think it
    Is related to sound card or....,i mean sound card...is ok ; however , something is wrong about entries of the speakers. Before i formatted my pc ,i had decided to take off some speakers. Then i tried to use them again but there was no sound coming from 3 of the speakers.After that i tought format would fix it but it did not work although i set everything properly. Today i format my pc again...and i noticed that the working-2-entry of the speakers are not working and the other non-working-2 entry of speakers are working (there is no problem related to speakers,they are all fine). I really do not know what to do. One more thing,when i take off the centre subwoofer's cable, the centre speaker and left and right speakers are working but when i put on centre subwoofer's cable 3 of the speaker including centre speaker are not working and the other 2 of the speaker are working.Could anyone tell me how to fix this problem? If you have no idea ..can you tell me how can i get the CD which is given with this product or there is sound control program (which is in the CD) i barely remember..''soundmax...'' or something else..Does anyone know how can i get that program? Thanks for your attention..

  • Creative Decoder DDTS-100 with Creative Inspire 5200

    Hi Guys,
    Basically I wana hook up my PC ,XBOX and TV onto the Creative Inspire 5200.
    I found out a couple of options , one of them is Creative DDTS-00.
    Can anybody tell me if they are using this device , how good is it compared to a decoder amp by YAMAHA or SONY.
    Which is a preferable solution ?
    Thanx in advance.
    Visu.

    DudeRighteous,
    Have you tried adjusting the levels for the center down and the other speakers up? On the main volume knob press the select button and it will select a specific speaker set to adjust the volume for. Try changing these settings and see if that helps.

  • How can i make the volume controller on a pavillion dv4 work after a clean windows install?

    Hello!
    Recently I performed a clean windows 7 install from a windows install disk I previously owned, the problem is that this disk didn't intalled the drivers and programs specific for this computer. What I want to know is which driver or program I need to install to make the volume controller on my computer to work again? The problem is that the volume bar that previously appeared on the screen and the "bing" sound indicating the volume level doesn't appear or sound now.
    All other things seem to work fine, this is the only problem so far.
    Thanks!
