Brother printer

Since I got my Airport Extreme I've been wirelessly printing with my old HP 1200 via a usb hub. Finally HP died, so I decided to get the Brother. But after I installed the Brother I can no longer print through the hub, and have to hook it up directly to the laptop. This isn't going to work, as I have more than one computer.
Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem with an iMac running mountain lion. Did you ever solve the issue?
The disc included with the printer would not work to install the software. And even though apple says it has the software when you look up their master list of supported printers, I am getting the error message of "Can't install the software for the Brother DCP-7065DN beacuse it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
The only suggestions I have seen so far are a) to unplug it and try again -which has not worked so far, or b) use a generic printer driver -and according to the directions on this site, my printer does not support a generic printer driver/software.
I tried downloading the software directly from Brother's site, and the install process seemed to work, but I can't figure out where the software was installed, and my computer still tells me it needs to download the software from Apple, and continues to fail when looking for the software.

How to connect my iPad, Brother printer, and AirPort Extreme?

I don't believe any of the Brother printers are AirPrint-enabled. Is your Brother printer network-ready? That is, does is support either/both a wired or wireless connection or just uses USB to connect?

If you are running Mac OS X 10.7.3 then you have Lion installed, not Snow Leopard. It's probably not important to this discussion, but something you should be aware of.
What application are you printing the PDF files from? Have you tried opening the PDF file using the Preview application that can be found in the Applications folder? Does the issue still occur? Have you tried other PDF files from a different source?
Another poster in the following discussion thread reported that this method resolved their black blank PDF issue when viewing (and presumably printing) PDF files from Safari.

There's a solution if you want to see the PDF inside Safari's window :
Go to the folder : Your Hard Drive / Library / Internet Plug-ins.
If you see a file with PDF in its name drag it to the trash.
Quit and restart Safari to test with a PDF.
If it works you can empty the trash.

  • How can I print from iPad to a Brother printer with a TP-link tl-wps510u connected to it without using a computer? It doesn't detect the printer.

I have a Brother printer that doesn't have wifi, but I bought a Wireless Server Print to connect to it. I want the iPad can print directly to the printer without using a computer, but the iPad doesn't detect the printer. Is that possible?

I know that Brother has an app that works with its wireless printers, even if they are not airprint. My printer isn't wireless, is a wireless print server attached to the printer what is able to make this printer wireless. Could this app be a solution or only would work with the wireless Brother printers?
The Apps usually only work with wireless printers, though if its free, there is no harm in trying, and see if it gets picked up, but its doubtful, as the print server would need to transmit in the same protocol the Brother Print App is expecting from the supported wireless printers.

  • Unable to print from HP Pavilion 17-f048ca to Brother printer

Hello, I've recently bought a brand new HP Pavilion 17-f048ca (windows 8.1). However, I've been unnable to connect my Brother printer to the laptop as it always resulted in a driver error. I am doing this via usb cable. I've tried all of the usb ports but the driver error still exists. I tried printing from another laptop with the same usb connection; this time working. I assume there is something wrong with the usb ports of my laptop, even though it has recieved no damage from the 2 days in my possession. Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Welcome to the HP Forum.
Is is likely you need to update the printer software.
You might go to the Brother printer's support site and look for printer software for Windows 8.1.
In the case of HP printers, it is necessary to disconnect the USB cable from the printer, install the software, and then connect the USB cable to the printer only when directed.
Be sure to read the instructions for the printer software installation for the Brother printer as they may differ from this standard.

  • My iMac is networked to a brother printer with automatic duplexing capability.  It will double-side documents from all sources except from Word.  I can't find anywhere in Word to change the settings.  Any advice?

My iMac is networked to a Brother Printer that is capable of duplex printing.  I can print duplexed documents from every source so far except Word.  Nothing in the pre-print dialogue boxes gives me the choice to double side.  In the same place that I am given the choice to double-side when printing from other sources, Word only offers 'collated'.  Any advice?

Thanks.  It worked!  It sure seems like a complicated way to go about duplexing that takes only one step with every other source but Word, though, doesn't it?  Anyway, that's not your problem and you solved mine.  Much appreciated.

  • Mac OSX 10.6.8 Brother Printer

I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8 and I cannot connect to the Brother MFC 7860DW printer at work. I have installed the driver but when I click add printer the Brother printer does not appear.

See Linc Davis's advice here.   Obviously just exchange the Epson information for Brother information within that piece of advice.

  • How do i install a brother printer on macbook

How can i install a Brother Printer on a MacBook
I do not know the IP address of the printer
i have tried installing the Brother software but nothing seems to work

Most Brother printers use Bonjour to advertise themselves to the subnet.
So, you don't generally need to hardcode your printer's IP address.
You can if you want to, though.
When you installed the Brother software, what specifically did you install?
Something off a CD, something you downloaded, what?  Is it on Lion or SL?
Where is your MacBook relative to your printer, network-wise?

I followed the FAQ troubleshooting and that didn't help

Here is what worked for me:

  • Scanning documents with brother printer.

I can scan but then it goes nowhere.  How can I get the document that I can see was scanned to my desktop where it says it should be?

I have a Brother printer/scanner but use either Image Capture of VueScan for scanning. Does the Brother software give an option to change the destination for scans - perhaps into a folder? Any change?

  • All my pdf files can be printed in low quality on my Brother printer but can't print in high quality in the printer menu.

My problem is that all my pdf files can be printed when I choose "low quality printing" in my Brother printer menu but cannot be printed in "high quality". When trying to print in high quality, the documents load in the printer tray and it says 1 document then disappears and 0 document printing is showing. I have some pdf files that I want to print in color in high quality and black and white but I'm unable to do so. It only prints in low quality for both color and black and white.

    1. Please make sure that your Reader is updated to 11.0.09. Go to Help -> Check for Updates.
    2. Also, please check if there is any new update available for your Printer Driver.

  • Macbook airport extreem and brother printer/scanner DCP-330C

I have macbook airport extreem and brother printer/scanner DCP-330C and everything works fine.
    I can print wireless.
The only thing that irritates me is, when I start my macbook I first see a screen with MFL-ProSuite, I quit then a screen with connect with USB, I quit and then I see a small blue screen.
Is there a way to get rid of these things, so I can start directly with the things I want to do.
    Thanks for the reply.
    Frank

That is something that has to do with the brother software. Doesn't have anything to do with the airport base station.
I would try and Contact brother to see about disabling it.
What I think , is probably because the printer is on the airport not the computer so brothers software is getting confused.
See about deleting just the software and not the drivers. That is if you dont need the software.

  • How do I get my ipad to recognizie my brother printer.?  It is AirPrint compatible.

How do I get my ipad to
Recognize my brother printer?  It is an air printer compatible ...

Make sure that the printer software is fully updated. Sometimes you have to install a firmware update for the printer before it will work with AirPrint, you can check for updates on the Brother website.
If the firmware is up to date and If you are sure that you installed the software correctly, try rebooting the printer, your router and the iPad. Unplug the printer and the router from power for about 30 seconds. Plug them both back in...router first.
Reboot the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
See if the printer will work after you reset everything.
