Browse/Capture on Content Administration/Portal Content -EP6

We're having problems trying to capture live (external) internet content from the portal when we create
URL iViews.
In EP5 the tool used to be called iView catcher and it allows you to get a portion of content from the web like a table (stock/weather). This functionality is not working in the portal and I am not sure if this is due to the privacy/partnership issues, but at the same rate, i see the functionality exists on EP 6.0 via
Content Administration/Portal Content. Right click on the folder and select New -> iView and from the list of templates select URL iView, enter name and id on the next screen. On the following screen you can enter a URL and we tested www.bbc.co.uk and then press the Browse/Capture button and the pop up window is not able to access this website.
The website does not appear in the Browse tab but if you save it does work when previewing the iView (example is iView url_test). However we just want to capture a part of the website and under the Capture tab it just says 'null' instead of the website(url) appearing.
Is this a known problem with EP(SP7), and perhaps fixed with SP9?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
James

Hi,
The iView catcher is available in EP6 start from SP9 and on (NW04).
If you select to create new iView - URL iView and then you choose browse / capture.
If it doesn't work well, you probably have problems with either proxy settings or your windows domain authentication.
Good luck,
Tuval

  • Javascript error in Content Admin- Portal Content- iview Navigation window

    Hi friends,
We are in the process of portal migration and as a part of this, we installed NW04 SPS 14 using Rapid Installer and then upgraded it to SPS 18. The components we upgraded are:
    Java component
    Portal Platform
    Knowledge Management and Collaboration
    Adobe Document Services
    BI UDI
    BI MMR
After upgradation, when we logged in to portal, we were not able to see/browse Portal pages/Roles/Iviews/Worksets (PCD Contents) under Content Administration->Portal Content.
Again, whichever window is there for navigation of PCD, we are not able to see the contents of PCD.For e.g. System Administration -> System Configuration.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

  • Content Administration - KM Content workset direct url access

    Hi,
As we know we have KM Content workset under Content Administration. When I right click and select "Open in new Window" for "KM Content" again Home page is opening.
How can I get the url to access directly "KM Content" page?
Please let me know if any body has an idea to get this.
    Thanks

KM Content is a workset under Content Administration role
You can directly acess the workset using Quick Links.
Navigate to  content admin->portal content. in that pcdcontent->content provided by SAP->Admin content-> conent administrator->worksets.
There you find the KM content. dupicate that in to your folder and open as object
and Set the  'quick links' property as km_content
then  below url  will directly access the KM content (provided you are having conent admin role).
    http://<FQDN>:<port number>/irj/portal/km_content

    Folks,
We have a km navigation iview and want to open the contents in the portal content area instead of opening the links in a new window. I don't find any configurable options. What are the development effort options and how big is the effort? Any hint will be very helpful.

    Hi Tridib,
see /thread/87593 [original link is broken] for the example of external links. If I'm right in this, the same would hold for other renderers.

  • Portal Content Studio - mouse button does not work anymore

if you use the portal content studio
    content-administration > portal-content
you can configure the portal objects by browsing them and clicking the right mouse button.
That worked but now the mouse button doesn't work - left mouse button works as expected (with left mouse button one can navigate through the objects, iViews, working sets, etc...).
Right mouse button does nothing, portal objects could not be edited. Of course, the mouse is Ok.
    Is this strange error known?
    How to avoid it?
Is there a possibility to reset this application, so it restarts/re-initializes correctly?
Even a restart of SAP NetWeaver didn't help.
Or can one use another method to perform an action instead of the right mouse button?

If desktop inner page is deeted then also you will not see the content area.
If so please add the content area iview indside the Desktop inner page then you can see the content area for the users.
Content area iview will be available under the following path of the portal

  • Couldn't see portal content

    hi all:
I couldn't see Portal Content under the link of Content administration --> portal content
even with the role of pcd:portal_content/administrator/content_admin/content_admin_role, I
should have seen some content like  content from sap and so on ,
can you please tell me what should I configure?
    thank you very much .

    Hi Jingying
You need to assing content_admin_role to content admin role.
System Administration >> Permission >> Portal Content >> Content Provided By SAP >> Admin Content >> Content Administrators >> Content Admin >> Right Click on Content Admin Role >> Open Permission >> search and assign content_admin_role role and provides access if you are only assin content admin role to the user.
Otherwise you can assign super administration role to the user.
    Hope it helps

  • Portal Content Studio Download

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a sample IView. All the helpcentres talked about using Portal Content Studio -> Content Management -> and then create a IView.
I have installed Netweaver Sneak Preview 6.4 and Netweaver Developer Studio. Are these components sufficients to create an IView, if yes can somebody point me how to do that. If not what software i need and how do i install it.
    Regards,
    Rupak Kumar...

    Hi,
Yes. That is sufficient for creating iViews. Create a sample portal application from this link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/44/46b9d670e20597e10000000a155369/content.htm
Once u have created, deploy the application to the server. Then login to portal server using http://<i>server:port</i>/irj/portal
Login with Administrator and password u have set when u installed the server. Then choose Content Administration -> portal Content. Right click portal content and choose new -> folder. After Creating a folder, right click it and choose new from par -> iView.
Then select the name of ur project (par file) and create an iView. U can preview ur iView also and see the output.

  • EP Portal  Content -permissions controlling and roles

Hi, i have a query on the permissions assigning  to the users!
i.e., here i have doifferent users and they all have their own folders in the PortalContent Directory, but i want to allow only the corresponding user to access the his own folder and disallow the other users of accessing the other user's folders.
here im giving the detail explanation of the query...
In the Content Administration-->Portal Content-> i've a folder called PortalContent.
For the Portal Content folder the Permission role is super_admin, which is need to be assigned to all users, but in Portal Content i've subfolder of my own, by defult it's taking the super_admin role, so this will also be visible and modified by all users, but i don't want to make the other users accessible my subfolder, can i make it that one as visible to only one user, and invisible to remaining users other than Admin.
    please resoond to this...
    thank you,

    hi sireesha
I think you can do this by naming the folder with the same as your userid or anything identifyable to the user. After that before accessing the contents you can check these names and if it matches you can allow the corresponding user to access the contents.
Another thing you can do in portal is that if you are not giving the super_admin role to any of your user, you  add the permissions to the corresponding folder to the user. So the folder permission is given to the corresponding users only to access its contents.
    regards
