Browse chinese files

with the latest playbook update along with x pdf reader and the latest air browser, once browse  pdf using unicode encoding for file that has non Enlish. I have tested with tradition chinese pdf files. utf-8 or other coding do not work.
as for most text filesin unicode encoding, one may browse then with the builtin web browser only:
- open web browser,
- key in file:
- press GO
- drill down to the folder containing the desired text file
- click on the file
make sure the options for the web browser is:
- detect text encoding automatically ON
if needed turn that off and change Deault Text Encoding. then turn back on aut encoding detection.
Actually with the  the web browser option "detect text encoding automatically" ON. it does not care much aboue uniode encoding, it will show utf-8, unicode big endin, big5 text files correctly.
plain unicode  is best and safest when there is a mixture of language fonts.
Hope people would like this.
of course we are still waiting for full support of east Asian Languages that is rumored in 2.0 although I failed to see anything about that in the blog so far

Actually, you need to use the HTML <INPUT TYPE="file"

    ls -l /var/run/lighttpd/
And how are you spawning the php instances? I don't see that in the daemons array anywhere.
EDIT: It looks like the info in that page is no longer using pre-spawned instances, but lighttpd adaptive-spawn. The documentation has been made inconsistent it looks like.
You will note that with pre-spawned information, the config looks different[1].
You need to do one or the other, not both (eg. choose adaptive-spawn, or pre-spawn..not both).

  • I want to change the file location for the automatic backup file bookmarks.file, but I can't find browser.bookmarks.file in the list on the about:config page.

I asked about automatic backup of bookmarks and received the following answer:You can make Firefox 3 create an automatic HTML backup (bookmarks.html) when you exit Firefox if you set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML] to true on the about:config page. That backup is created by default in the profile folder as bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and path via the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.file browser.bookmarks.file] on the about:config page. I went to about:config page and toggled browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to “Yes” and it’s working. However, I want to change the file location, but I can’t find browser.bookmarks.file in the list.

The browser.bookmarks.file preference does not exist by default. Right-click in about:config and select "New > String" to create it.

  • 'Browse For File' icon not working in Dreamweaver CS4

    Hello All.
Ever since upgrading my copy of Dreamweaver from version 8 to CS4, I seem to have accounted an annoying bug (?)
If, for example, I want to change an image on a webpage, I would click the image in question on the screen and by using the Properties panel would select a new image by clicking the 'Browse For File' icon in the 'Source File Of Image' section of the panel.
Then I would select the new image, hit 'OK' and the image would be changed.
Now when I do this nothing happens - the original image remains and cannot be altered.
I now have to manually type the link of the new image into the 'Source File Of Image' field, which is a pain.
I have even disabled my firewall and anti-virus just in case these were somehow conflicting but still no change.
    Any ideas anyone please?
    Thanks,
    Jon
Using Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

If Dreamweaver is behaving in an odd way, it frequently means that there is a corrupt personal configuration folder.
Close Dreamweaver, locate the personal configuration folder, and rename it.
When you restart Dreamweaver, it should create a new configuration folder with all the program defaults.
For details of how to find the configuration folder, see this page in the Dreamweaver FAQ.
    Hope this solves your issue.

  • Web browsing and file downloads stops

    Hi Guys,
I've been looking at a few posts but not seen the answer yet.  I'd be grateful if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction.
I had BT Infinity 2 installed with the HH5 on Friday.  I have problems with browsing web pages.  When I click a link most of the time the page loads quickly without issue, but then occassionally the page wont load and the page will 'stick'.  It sometimes take 30-60 seconds for the page to fully load, or there is a timeout.  Usually, by reloading the page it resolves this and the page loads really quickly again but within a minute you will have the same issue.
Also, I have downloaded a few files, from 300mb to 1gb.  Just like web browsing, the file download will stop and the only way to resume the download is to reboot the HH5.  I had to reboot the HH5 five times to download the full 1gb file.  I checked the connection and it's not dropping so I wonder why the connection just stops or sticks for a while.
I know it can take a while for the connection to settle down but it shouldn't stop working.
Am hoping someone could help me out with this as i need this for my business.
    With thanks,

I would leave it alone for the next few days and do not keep restarting the Homehub. This will cause DLM (Dynamic Line Management) to kick in and lower your speeds because it will interpret the restarts as a fault. It is normal for the speeds to fluctuate during the training period. If things do not improve after the ten day training period post back for more advice.

  • Browse HTM files on Memory Card

I would like to browse html files that I have saved (using a card reader) on my memory card, but keep getting a "file not found" error message.
Would some kind soul please tell me what address I should enter when using "Go To Address"?
I'm using a 6230, my memory card is called "Card" and one of the files is called "start.htm"

You'll almost certainly need to open the file from a file browser like File Manager or Y-Browser.
The Web browser will only be looking at an internet address not a local address.
I have full End User experience of:
    5510, 3210, 3310, 3510, 3510i, N80, N80IE, 7610, 2610, 1208 and current E90.

  • Where is browser cache file for Firefox 5.0? For example, if I hear a sound on an url, how do I retrieve it or anything else that's in the cache??

Where is the browser cache file in Firefox 5.0? It's my understanding that in prior versions, one only had to type "about:cache" in the address bar to retrieve the cache file. But this doesn't work on 5.0. I want to retrieve sound files from Cornell.edu ornithology website but cannot find where the file is located. In IE6.0 one only had to go to tools > internet options > settings > view files = viola!! As for prior versions of Firefox, the plug-in CacheViewer was very helpful but is incompatible w/ Firefox 5.0. Please help!

A-OK, Xircal. Absolutely correct. I had a space where it should not have been. Problem solved. Thx bunches.

  • Use of browser.bookmarks.file in about:config to back up bookmarks file at location of my choice.

I want to Firefox to do automatic backup of the bookmarks file. It saves the file in the Firefox Profiles folder. To have it save the file in My Documents, I created the following new preference:;C:\Users\Gerry\Documents\BOOKMARKS. However, the bookmarks file was not saved at this location when I exited Firefox. I tried adding a filename to the preference: browser.bookmarks.file;C:\Users\Gerry\Documents\BOOKMARKS\Firefox bookmarks.html. It still didn’t save the bookmarks file at this location. How do I do it? How do I specify both the new file name and the path? The following is earlier correspondence.
Answer to question: How can I do automatic backup of Firefox bookmarks? What is the name of the bookmarks file and where is it probably located in Windows?
You can make Firefox 3 create an automatic HTML backup (bookmarks.html) when you exit Firefox if you set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML] to true on the about:config page.
That backup is created by default in the profile folder as bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and path via the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.file browser.bookmarks.file] on the about:config page.
Note: an HTML backup doesn't preserve tags and annotations, so you lose those if you need to import the HTML backup.

Answer to question: I want to change the file location for the automatic backup file bookmarks.file, but I can’t find browser.bookmarks.file in the list on the about:config page.
The browser.bookmarks.file preference does not exist by default. Right-click in about:config and select "New > String" to create it.

  • Firefox now keeps my tabs when I close the browser if file manager is still open. Can I turn this off?

Used to be if I closed the browser while file manager was open it would close that session, and when I opened Firefox again, it would have a brand new session with the home page. Now I just get the same session as if I had only minimized the browser instead of closing it. Is there a way to change that?

You can set the pref browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 on the about:config page.<br />
That will make Firefox ask for confirmation if you want to cancel the download if you close Firefox.
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.download.manager.quitBehavior
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Browse .ico files in Bridge?

    Hi there,
I'm using Adobe Bridge CS3 and was wondering if there was a way to browse .ico files? (I've tried searching the forums to see if this has been covered before without any luck)
    Thanx
    Joe

Ramon - that's exactly why I am asking the question. I'd like to browse these kinds of files as they are NOT a native Mac format and therefore difficult to easily browse (especially when there are hundreds).
I tried the plugin (I had it already installed in the Photoshop plugins folder) so made a copy to the Bridge plugins folder but that didn't work!
Any other suggestions would be most welcome!
