Browse Documents in Advanced Search iView

Hi,
I am trying to develop a Search Component. I need to include a Browse Document also in the component as in the advanced search.
How can we do this?
Regards
BP

You can not set this at a user specific setting.  This is a global configuration issue.  You can either change the global configured search option set or you can create a custom search option set and create an iview that would contain your default settings.  Go to system admin > system configuration > knowledge management > content management > user interface > show advanced options > search.  Here you can create and manage all your search settings.  Hope this helps.

  • Customizing Advanced Search Box

We have a SharePoint 2010 farm. Some users complain that they have difficulty in finding documents. They get many results back and so have a hard time in searching for what they are looking for. Users search documents using Advanced Search box.
I am thinking of adding scopes so that users users will only see relevant information i.e. documents specific to their site. Is there anything else I can do to make their search experience more effective and rewarding? Thanks a lot.

  • Portal Advanced Search – default business object

Within the Shopping Area for Employee Self Services, apart from changing the Application Parameter in the  Advanced Search iView, does anyone know if there is a way of configuring the Advanced Search in the backend of SRM to default to u2018Shopping Cartu2019 instead of u2018Conformationu2019?
    Thanks
    Claire

    Hi,
if you are using portal-independant navigation you can do the following.
Go to the corresponding PFCG role and open it in edit mode. On the tab "Menu" click on "Advanced Search" (normally found directly below "Home"). Call the context menu using the right mouse button and click on "Details". For the parameter SAPSRM_BOTYPE change the default value BUS2203 (Confirmation) to the business object you want to use as a default, e.g. BUS2121 for Shopping Cart. Then save the role.
If this doesn't work make sure that the user in question doesn't have other roles overriding this setting.

  • Advance Search not working in Document Management Task Flow

    Hi,
We are using Document management task flow to manage UCM content. The simple search works for us but the Advance search does not work. Does anyone know of any possible reason why this could happen. Any hint would be really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Salim

    Hi Srinath,
    Thanks for replying.
So in my scenario when I try to search the content using the simple search which is present at the right hand top corner I get the search result properly. But when I try to search by clicking on the Advance link which gives me a option to search by Filename, Keywords and adding other filters, it always returns zero search results.
    Thanks

  • Advanced Search fails in large GeoPDF Documents

    Hi!
I have generated a large georegistered PDF Document with many text elements.
When reaching a specific count of text elements, the (advanced) search function of Adobe Reader will stop working correctly. It will find results which are not matching the search query.
This error does not occur in "normal" text pdf documents but only in pdf documents containing georeferenced vector elements. Can anybody confirm this behaviour?
I can provide a test pdf file if necessary.
    Thanks for help,

  • Error while deletion of documents in Search iView

    Dear All
I am using custom Layout set for KM Search iView. The layout set includes options for deleting the documents presented as search results.
When we delete the all the documents one by one present in search results, it works fine. But after last document is deleted, following error message is coming.
    <b>System Error
    Exception Class: class.java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException
    Exception Message: Index=0; Size=0</b>
    Please help to resolve it.

    Hello,
I assume that you have Excel installed in your computer.
So, I think that this error is a problem with your Internet Explorer configuration.
Try to open them with IE 32 bits.

  • Folder option in KM search Iview

    Hi All,
I am using KM search Iview, when I click on "Show Options" link in the header, it is showing many option like " Search Scope", "Display Results',"Filter by Properties", and ect..
Now I wanted to customize this search options, for this I choose "Search option set" under "Configuration-> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search ". I can manage to customize the screen to some extent. like enable / disable the properties etc....
Now, I have a problem.... I need to remove the radio button and option for " Folders (and Subfolders)" which have a radio button infront of it,a text area after the name and a browse button.
I dont want this option in "search scope" at all. I need only one option with Indexes. I tried giving default search as INDEX but still the folder option appears. What I need to remove the FOLDER option totall.
Any Idea? Also If I want to change the text or removing input boxes under a category like               "Filter by Properties" what I need to do? where I need to make the changes.
Please let me know the solution.
    1) remove the folder / browser option from "search scope" category.
    2) remove / add new fields under "Filter by Properties" category.
    thanks in advance.
    PradeeP

    Hi Pradeep
    1)
The search from folders can only be customized using the parameter I mentioned. And this parameter needs to be added in the search iview, you are using - not the search option set, nor the search component set.
    2.1)
See http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/cc/f4e77ddef1244380b06fee5f8b892a/frameset.htm for a thorough description of how to use the Search Options Set. You will have to enter the predefined properties specifically in the search options set in order to give the end user the possibility to filter by these values.
    2.2)
If you want to translate some of the labels from the Search Interface (headings for search components, labels for buttons, etc), you will have to edit the .properties-file I mentioned (and perhaps others).
If you want to change the labels from your predefined properties, you should do it through this: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/65/6fc63ed4027f6be10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    3)
If you could not remove the links for the Administrator then this might be caused by the fact that the administrator is using a different layoutset than the one, you configured.
If you want to change "size of file, view html links below the individual results / documents", you should go to your search result layout set > collection renderer > displayed properties (single entry in the collection renderer). See documentation here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/87/3d48475ee8bd448c4031aa98d90524/frameset.htm
Unfortunately I dont have the time to make a step by step guide for you, but I believe I have answered your questions.

  • How to set a default folder in Advance Search

We have enabled the Search Scope Selection option for the default search iView in the Tool Area.  Therefore, when a user clicks the Advance Search link in the Tool Area, they can choose the index they wish to search or they can select a folder by browsing the KM folder structure.  When they click on the browse button, their initial folder is /root.  We would like to set the default browse folder to a lower-level folder, like /documents.
Does anyone know the best way to set the initial search folder for the default search iView?

    Hi Andrew
The short answer is that I dont think you can change the default "browse folder". It will let the end users browse whatever folders they have the permission to view. But you can solve your problem in some other ways, like:
    1) Remove any permissions regarding the root folder for the end users. In this way they will not be able to browse it through the search component. Configure permissions for all other folders you dont want end users to access.
    2) Create a range of meaningful indexes and only let the user search the indexes (with a meaningful name), not the folders. If you like, you can hide the folder search option by adding &EnableSearchFromFolder=False to the KM search parameters (search the forum for more info).
    3) Give the users access to a simple KM navigation iview with a customized layoutset that only lets the end user browse the documents repository and contains a link to the UI command "search_from_here" which will "Opens a dialog box for searching within the current folder or subfolders" (taken from the description of the ui command).

  • Search iView instead of KM Navigation iView

    Hi,
the guide "How To... Tune the Performance of Knowledge Management" recommends to use Search iViews instead of KM Navigation iViews for performance reasons.
Can someone please explain how to configure these iViews? The Search iViews we use provide an input field which we don't need in this case. How can a search string be submitted, so that a Search iView directly displays the content of a folder as search result? Is there any documentation available?
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards

There you find a sample how to start the search iView with a direct result list, by adding "QueryString=*" to the query parameter for the iview.

  • Browser document Mode in Custom Framework works partially.

    Hallo.
In our custom Framework, I have the iview "Browser Document Mode"
    Property "Browser Document Mode"="IE=EmulateIE7"
When I browse in the portal, it works and if I search the document mode, using, the Internet Explorer developer tool, I see:

When I open a km news to create a new one, it opens a separate page, and it doesn't work well.
I see : "Non-standard Document type" and it dosen't work well when I browse in km folder.
If I force "Non-standard IE 5 Document type"
How can I solve it ?
    Could you jelp me?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hallo.
iview manage news,  has: Launch in new window:"Display in Portal Content Area"
The problem happens only when i click "New News" that seems it loses the setting  Property "Browser Document Mode"="IE=EmulateIE7"
Perhaps, if there is a property to specify "Browser Document Mode"="IE=EmulateIE2" in the Layout Set "NewsBrowser" could it be the solution?
    How could I do this?

  • Unable to turn on Advanced Search for viewing PDFs (v9.1) through IE7

Our company is currently using Acrobat 9.1 and Internet Explorer 7.
We have multiple PDF document sets set up to be searched using index files. The Index feature can only be accessed using the Advanced Search option of Acrobat Reader or Pro 9.1.
When we access the documents via our internal network, the advanced searching works fine. We can easily set the user's Acrobat Reader (or Writer) to have the Advanced Search option enabled.
However, if our users try to access these documents via our company's intranet web pages, the Acrobat Reader Interface plug-in (acropdf.dll?) of IE7 is fixed to only use the Basic Search option. Users are only able to search the active PDF.  I have not found a way to enable the the Advanced Search option using the Adobe / IE7 interface.
Not that long ago, we thought this option was available.
Is there a way to turn this feature on or at least allow it to be enabled?
    Thanks Much!

    Hello,
This may be of interest to anyone whose had the Advanced Search Problem (or the mis-linking problem mentioned below) using the current Acrobat Plugin to IE7.
I think I have found a workaround for this problem (and another we've found). I've been having users test this out over the past couple of weeks and it's working fine.
    Problem #1
Being unable to use index searching across multiple documents with the Acrobat Reader 9.1 plug-in interface running from within Internet Explorer version 7.0.    This current plug-in interface disallows setting up the Advanced Index Search feature that groups within our company use.
    Problem #2
Links in PDF A are not properly linking to desired pages (link targets) in PDF B.  Any links in PDF A will only take the user to Page 1 of PDF B.   This occurs when any PDF links to a certain page (other than page 1) in another targeted PDF.
    Solution:
Set the user's (many users in my case) Acrobat Reader (or Pro) to only open web based PDFs into the stand-alone Acrobat interface using the Accessibility Setup Assistant.
    In Adobe Reader:
Go to Document | Accessibility Setup Assistant.
Advance through the dialogs to Screen 5 of 5.
Turn OFF the feature Display PDF documents in web browser.
         Select Done.
         Exit Adobe reader.
    In Adobe Acrobat Pro:
Go to Advanced | Accessibility | Setup Assistant ...
Advance through the dialogs to Screen 5 of 5.
Turn OFF the feature Display PDF documents in web browser.
         Select Done.
    Result:
Any PDFs embedded in a web page (environment) will open up in a new session of Acrobat (Reader or Pro) on the users desktop.
Searching via indexes works great and there are no linking problems between PDFs.
It may not be an optimal solution, but is working fine for our folks that access our files via our company's intranet.
The only drawback I see is that you lose focus of the IE7 session and have to work outside of it's containment.  Although it is easy to set it back to the way it worked previously.
If anyone has any questions or comments, please let me know.  I'm open to any improvements we can make to our process.
    Thanks!
    Dave

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.2 Crashes on Find or Advanced Search

When I try to do a Find or Advanced Search on a PDF document in Adobe Reader 10.1.2 with either the standalone or browser version, it suddenly stops working and I must close it.  Occassionally the search will work but most it causes the Reader to crash.  Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution?  I use Windows 7 Pro SP 1 64-bit and Internet Exlorer 9 32-bit (default).
    Eileen

Repair did not correct it.  I used Revo Uninstaller to do a clean uninstall.  It uninstalls using the application's uninstall and then scans for any leftover files or registry entries. It found some so I got rid of them as well.  I deleted my temp files (%temp%) and emptied the recycle bin.  Then I donwloaded and installed Adobe Reader 10.1.2 from the web site.  It works!  I am so happy as I have many long PDFs and use search constantly.   Thank you for all your help.

  • How to Dynamically add Search Criteria in Advance Search Region.

    Hi All,
I want to understand how can we add Search Criteria dynamically in the Advance Search Region.
The Requirement is to add 4 additional search criteria for an org_id in a multi org structure. For other business those fields should not be visible.
I did try this with the form personalization but could not Show/hide the additional search criteria programatically for the business as we can only see 4 search criteria at the time of page load and other criteria comes in the drop down list to add which can not be show/hide after page load.
I thought of a solution to add search criterias dynamically for my org through extending controller.
I found the OAAdvanceSearchBean (advance search Region in controller) object for my Advance Search but could you tell me how can I add the Criteria Row in that Advance Search (createWebBean function) and then add the item in criteria Row dynamically.
Also please tell me how we can increase the showed criteria from default 4 to more, setDisplayedCriteriaCount(int) is not allowed and it is not working also.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
As Lars said The "Search Option Set" and the "Search Component Set" offer you quite some flexibility.
You can configure both of these component to customize your search.
Once you did it, you can create a new basic search iview and set these components.
On the other hand, you also customize the layout use to show result of search.
Dont'f forget that you need to configure Trex and create an index.
For instance, I configured the search criteria, the system only asked me some metadatas (created by us,whose value are dependents). Each time that you upload a document you set these attributes.
Then when you want to search, appear a screen with these values
    Country :
    City:
    search field:
    Patricio.

  • How can I use ONE Text search iView to event/affect mutliple Result Sets?

    hello everyone,
i have a special situation in which i have 6 flat tables in my repository which all have a common field called Location ID (which is a lookup flat to the Locations table).
i am trying to build a page with a free-form text search iView on Table #1 (search field = Location ID).  when I execute the search, the result set for Table #1 is properly updated, but how do I also get Result Set iViews for Tables #2-6 to also react to the event from Text Search for Table #1 so that they are updated?
i don't want to have to build 6 different text search iViews (one for each table).  i just want to use ONE text search iView for all the different result set tables.  but, in the documentation and iView properties, the text search iView doesn't have any eventing.
if you have any suggestions, please help.
    many thanks in advance,
    mm

    hello Donna,
that should not be a problem, since you are detailw with result sets and detail iviews because custom eventing can be defined for those iviews.
Yes, it says "no records" found because an active search and record selection havent' been performed for it (only your main table does).
So, yes, define a custom event, and pass the appropriate parameters and you should be fine.
Creating a custom event between a Result Set iView and an Item Details iView is easy and works. I have done it.
See page 35 of the Portal Content Development Guide for a step-by-step example, which is what I used.
For my particular situation, the problem I'm having is that I want the Search Text iView's event (i.e., when the Submit button is pressed) to be published to multiple iViews, all with different tables.  Those tables all share some common fields, which is what the Search iView has, so I'd like to pass the search critera to all of the iViews.

  • From folder on Search iView

    Hi
Is it possible to define a "search from" folder on the search iView? I was thinking about the query option. Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    Ole

    Hi Ole,
you probably mean a preset search folder?
    The answer is yes.
    System Administration -> System Configuration
Left Navigation Panel: Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface (Show Advanced) -> Search
Starting from the Default Search Dialog Box you can open the Search Option Set of the standard search and define a 'Search Folder' and the 'Search from folder'-Mode (Scope). Mind tooltips of parameters.
You can also define an own Search Option Set for a special Search-iView.
