Browse iTunes playlists on iPad in list format

How do I swap from "ablum cover" view to "list" form to view playlists on iPad 3rd?

If anyone from Apple reads this- why can't you give us the option of a list view?
Apple does NOT read this board. If want a change, you need to submit your displeasure via Feedback at:

I've already complained about this. But they'll need here this from multiple people to make a change. If not enough people complain, they assume no one cares, and list view (like lyrics) will dissappear forever.

  • IPad Videos-List format?

Using iPad-2 with iOS 5.1.1.   I have created playlists in iTunes for my home movies, and synced these playlists to iPad.
When Videos app is open on iPad, the movies appear as icons in grid view (alphabetical order).
I can't find a Playlist List format in Videos (such as is available in Music app).  The video playlists do show up in Music app, but are grayed out since there are "zero songs".
The previous iOS 4 did have a List format for videos.   Am I missing something here?  If a person has a few hundred movies, that's a lot of scrolling through icons.

  • Can you sync itunes playlist from ipad to ipod(s)?

I recently got a new ipod and want know know if there is a way , or how to transfer my itunes playlist on my ipad to my ipod??

As long as the playlist is in your iTunes library, you sync it from iTunes on your computer.

  • How to transfer itunes playlist to ipad.

Hi, Please could someone help me,
I just bought an Ipad mini, and I already had an Iphone 4. On my Iphone I spend lot's of time creating playlists, and now whenever I add a new song in a playlist on my Iphone and sync it with Itunes my playlist automatically update with Itunes. I wish to take all my exsisting playlist which are on my Iphone and Itunes and trasfer them onto my Ipad without having to recreate each playlist manually on my Ipad, is there a way I can just copy all the playlist at once to my new Ipad mini?
    Thanks.

You should create the playlists on your computer, then sync them to your devices.

  • Transferring iTunes playlist from iPad to iPhone - using iCloud

I'm trying to get playlists from my iPad to my iPhone 5, but without using iTunes since I'm not able to sync my iPhone 5 currently.  I do use iCloud, is there a way to sync playlists from one device to the other that way?  Or any other way without syncing both devices to iTunes?  Thanks

Without itunes, the only other way that I know of is itunes match.

  • ITunes playlist order sync help?

Okay, so I have my music in my playlist setup to organize my music by the date they were added. New music I add is always at the top of the playlist. When I use to sync my iPhone it would be in that order on my phone too, newest songs that were added were on top. I upgraded to iOS 5 now my playlist on my phone are in alphabetical order. On iTunes it is still in the order I would like it to be. Does anyone know how I could fix this? It's not really a big deal but I prefer the way it is on iTunes. I was working before and I just want it to be like that now..
    Thanks in advance.

For a Most Recently Added Playlist for music on iPhone 4, iOS 5.0, iTunes 10.5 (141), Here's what worked for me after lots of experimenting:
To Create a "100 Newest" playlist:
    1. In iTunes, delete any previous 'X Newest" playlists if they've not been syncing correctly since iOS 5 update, especially if they have referenced other playlists. In my experience if these playlists are not syncing in the correct order, there is nothing you can do to make them sync in the correct order - cut your losses and delete.
    2. In iTunes under 'Library' in the sidebar, select 'Music"
    3. From the 'File' menu select 'New Smart Playlist'
    4. In the pop up box that appears, check 'Match the following rule:'
    5. In the next line, in the pop-up menus, select the following: 'Media Kind', 'is', 'Music'
    6. Check the "Limit to" checkbox and enter the '100' in the box, and then select the follwing option in succeeding popup lists: 'items', selected by 'most recently added'
7.You may check either or both of the options 'Match only checked items' and 'Live updating' - in my experiments these had no effect.
    8. Click 'OK' and name your smartlst '100 Newest' or anything you'd like.
    Here's something to note:
In your iTunes 'Music Library', the sort order is newest song at the top of your library when the LIBRARY is sorted by 'Date Added' and the small triangle has it's apex pointing down.  To me this means the LATEST song is on top.
In your '100 Newest' playlist, to sort so the newest song is at the top of the playlist when the PLAYLIST is sorted by 'Date Added' , you'll note the triangle is oriented with the apex pointing up. To me this signifies the 'YOUNGEST ADDED' song is on the top.
However you view those two items, it's interesting that you'd expect the sort order might be reversed according to the triangle orientations, but it's not. And that's one of the sorting problems I had with syncing my playlists - newest were on the bottom on my iPhone playlist, but on the top in the playlist in my iTunes Library.  Certainly not a consistant user interface.
Also note that if you've used a previous hint in referencing a dated order playlist to avoid a previous iTunes playlist syncing bug, those lists now won't sort properly any longer.  As I said - cut your losses and start anew.
Hope this helps someone else. It took me a long time to get right.

  • Does anyone have a quick way to have iTunes on my ipad list which songs are actually downloaded to the device ?

Does anyone have a quick way to have iTunes on my ipad list which songs are actually downloaded to the device ?

If you want to import movies into iTunes you can use that to stream & convert to Apple TV compatible formats as Rudegar suggested.
Another option is to install a media streaming application like Plex or Kodi on a PC/ Mac.
    https://plex.tv/
    http://kodi.tv
Those should be able to stream to the Amazon Fire stick. They also can re-encode video 'on the fly'. So if you format is not supported the computer converts it & the device on the TV gets a format that does work (not including DRM protected files) - obviously this requires a computer with enough power to convert, but many recent computers have enough power to do that. There is setup involved, but these servers are a good once configured.
Roku has a Plex app that also works well on the TV.
The Apple TV does not work well with these apps, it expects you to use iTunes.

  • Can I get all the ipads in school (18) to access the same itunes playlist?

Can I get all the ipads in school (18) to access the same itunes playlist? We want to use the ipads to create movies but need music, we want to legally download music and let the children have access to the same playlist, can we do this and how? preferably without downloading the same track 18 times?

we would ideally use Icloud, my home account has 1 iphone and two ipods that share the same user and playlists etc, ideally I would want to create this but over the 18 ipads in school, I do however use the usb to update them so If i can do it via a sync on Icloud that would be better?

  • Is there any way that I can have songs in an iTunes Playlist without having the songs play in my regular music list.  For instance: can I have a Playlist of Christmas songs without having them play in the routine shuffle of my music library?  Thanks -Rog

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

  • When syncing my iTunes to my iPad from the laptop, I get a list of missing songs; they are in the library, but not in the music folder on my HD. In particular, I uploaded 3 CDs at the same time, all are in my library - but two are missing from the folder.

In particular, I uploaded 3 CDs at the same time, all are in my library, and all synced to the iPad - but the music from two of them are missing from the music folder. Hi dones49,
It sounds like your issue here is that iTunes can not find the files for some of the songs you have brought into it. This happens occasionally even if the songs have not been moved from the location that iTunes places them on import or purchase. When you try to use the song, iTunes prompts you to find the file, as you have seen.
To find the file, use the information in this article to navigate through the iTunes media folders -
Locate and organize your iTunes files
If you are still unable to locate the files, you may need to download them from the iTunes store again, or rip them from your CDs. See this article for assistance with downloading your past purchases -

There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
    Another option:
