You can write your own Java Bean to do what WebUtil does. Add your own customizations.

  • Selecting "Display PDF in browser" option launches 8.1.2 Installer

I have seen many auto-update and installer problems in this forum, but not this one. I have Acrobat 3D 8.1.2 on Windows XP, and today the automatic check for updates box appeared. (This system was set up by someone other than me and I didn't realize auto-updates was on.)
The only update showing was Acrobat 8.0.4 (?), so I deleted all updates, then changed the update preferences to turn off auto-updates.
Next, I needed to check something re: PDFs opening in browser vs. Acrobat window, so I went to Preferences and turned off the Display in browser option. No problem. Once I checked out my issue, I went back to re-select the Display in browser option. As soon as I clicked OK, an Acrobat 8.1.2 installer started. I canceled it. Restarted my system.
I cannot get the behavior to stop. Things I have done to try to correct problem: Checked for additional updates and discovered the 8.1.2 security update, so I installed that (manually). Ran the Repair Acrobat Installation from the Help menu. Tried letting the installer run. (Sometimes it says it can't find a server or similar message). Restarted system again.
Is there any other solution other than re-installing Acrobat? Something in the registry, or... ?
    Thanks much,
    GMc

    Hi Ben,
I manually added the registry setting but it made no difference.
I uninstalled 10.1.4 and reinstalled 10.1.3 and with 10.1.3 I am able to view a PDF in IE when launched from the command line.
I re-downloaded and reinstalled 10.1.4 and retried and now I can view a PDF in IE when launched from the command line.
    Strange.

  • Display PDF in Browser Option

I am able to open a PDF file from a particular protected Website. I can fill in the required info, but when I attempt to Save/File it back to the site, the following pops up: "For security reasons your return could not be saved. Please ensure that the 'Display PDF in Browser' option is selected under the Edit-Preferences-Internet Settings in Adobe Reader."
Adobe Reader XI, Internet Explorer 10 & Windows 7 are loaded on my PC.
I cannot trace 'Display PDF in Browser' under settings, but using Tools>Manage Add-ons>Toolbars and Extensions>Show>All Add-ons, I can see that 'Open PDFs in the Browser' is Enabled.
I also used the Registry Editor: Adobe>Reader>exe to confirm the Name, Type & Data in the string value: (ab), REG_SZ, C:\Program Files\(x86)\Adobe\Reader11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
No help is forthcoming from the Website, despite me logging a call to their service centre
Does the problem lie at my end, or the Website?

  • Issues with Display PDF in Browser option

We've recently hit a problem with our application that used to successfully display PDFs in a web browser control. In Adobe Reader 9.x it worked no problem. In Adobe Reader 10.1.3, it stopped working. I'm working along the line that it is something to do with the interaction between the ActiveX viewer and Internet Explorer when in a Citrix environment. (IE is version 8, OS is Windows 2003 Server). To help determine it was the Citrix element that was the cause, with the 'Display PDF in Browser' option active and using Adobe Reader 10.1.3 I launched IE from a command window passing the pdf file name as an argument and the PDF was successfully displayed in the IE browser. Now Adobe Reader 10.1.4 the latter is no longer working; the PDF is always displayed in the Adober viewer.
Has Display PDF in Browser been effectively disabled in 10.1.4?
If it should work as before, what can I do to restore the situation?
    TIA

  • How to disable updates and hide set as default browser option in firefox 31.0 for many users, like changing the setttings in any file

    Hi,
I am trying to disable updates, set as default browser option and import settings from other browers permanently for many users for firefox 31.0.
can you please help me with that. I know settings are going to prefs.js file in user profile. How can make this permanent for many users.

    Hi gaurav3012,
Permanent change would be locking preferences: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences]
However importing many users profiles to different computers may require a new profile for each user.
Currently there is an option to import bookmarks from other browsers, but not preferences.
Update preferences can be read about here: [[Configuration Options for Updates]]
Firefox ESR is also another version of Firefox that is meant for Enterprise environments [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/] that mostly has their support on their mailing list.

  • Adobe Reader X re-enabling "Display in browser" option by itself

    Hi all,
I've ran into this problem with two users, but can't seem to figure out how to fix it. We've unticked the "Display in browser" option under Preferences a couple of times, but it always re-enables itself after a few hours. I've also disabled the browser addons, and they seem to stay disabled. Reinstallation on Reader X didn't help... Also I can't update the Reader to version 11, because that's not compatible with another software this company is using.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this?
    -Ville

Yeah, I just realized that this company hasn't updated it's Reader package in a while, so I already downloaded the newest version 10.1.4 and I'll try it this afternoon

  • IPhoto Browser option is not showing up in import menu

    Hi,
The iPhoto Browser option is not showing up in the drop down import menu in my Aperture 3.4.3.  What gives?  I want to do some targeted photo imports from my iPhoto 9.4.2.
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), Aperture 3.4.3

The iPhoto Browser has been discontinued in Aperture 3.3.x with the introduction of the unified Library format. Aperture 3.3: Using a unified photo library with iPhoto and Aperture
To browse your iPhoto Libraries in Aperture simply swith to the iPhoto Library in Aperture:
File > Switch to Library > your iPhoto Library
If you want to import some images from iPhoto to Aperture,
browse the iPhoto Library in Aperture, collect the images in an album,
then export this album as an Aperture Library (File > Export > Album as new Library).
Now import/merge this new Library into your main Aperture Library

  • Preview in browser option not working

    Hi there,
I'm running dreamweaver cs4 on mac osx 10.4.11.  I'm trying to use the 'preview in browser' option without any success.
When I try to preview in Firefox, or any other browser in fact, I get the message 'Unable to launch Firefox.app - Please be
sure that this application exists and that there is enough memory to run it'.  I know for sure I have firefox installed as
I use it all the time.  I have also set Firefox as the primary browser within Dreamweaver.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Not sure if there's anything in this technote that may help:

  • Where is the private Browsing option in iOS 7

Where can I fined private browsing option under settings in iOS 7? it's not showing up in the safari section of settings.

Touch the URL field to bring up the keyboard. There will be a "Private" choice at the upper left of the keyboard. Touch this to start private mode.

  • HT5260 iPhoto Browser option is not showing up in the import menu.

    Hi,
The iPhoto Browser option is not showing up in the drop down import menu in my Aperture 3.4.3.  What gives?  I want to do some targeted photo imports from my iPhoto 9.4.2.

That went away when the two apps started using the same Library. There's no need to import photos from one to the other, just open the Library in the other app.

  • Privacy browser option is missing

I am trying to set up my yahoo mail and it is telling me to turn off privacy browser by going setting, safari privacy browser.  There is no privacy browser option?

Tap the plus sign ( + ) in teh upper right of the screen. You should see Private in the lower left. Tap that to turn private browsing on or off. (When Private browsing is On, the tool bar at the top of Safari will be black).

  • Can I remove the "private browsing" option?

Is it possible to completely remove the private browsing option in Firefox? I don't like the idea of people in my family having access to all sorts of sites, undetected by anyone. If not I may have to remove Firefox completely and return to Internet Explorer. Any help on this would be good.

You could use the Menu Editor extension ([https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/menu-editor]) to remove the menu entry, but this is only of limited use. For example it does not prevent anybody from clearing the browsing history.
An alternative approach is to use a parental control program such as the free K9 web protection ([http://www.k9webprotection.com]). That program has its own log of sites visited, and you can use it to block access to categories of sites that you choose.
