Browser Background

In CP8, is there a way to set the browser background color (not just the slide color?)
Thanks,
Jeff

Select Project/Skin Editor, click on the Borders Icon and select the HTML Background as in the image in red.

  • Browser Background Color Not Drawing Completely

On the web page I recently uploaded, the page does not draw the browser background color completely when it loads. The browser background color fills in to the bottom of the sized page, below there it is white.
    1. Modern Frame 2.0 - Blank
    2. Set Browser Background color to Blue
    3. Page background color either the same Blue or none at all. I've tested both ways.
    4. Manual resize always allows the browser background color to fill in properly.
    5. Footer on and off. Doesn't make a difference.
After uploading to the web, clearing all my caches, it continues to fill in incompletely.
What do you suggest I do to solve this?
    Thank you - Fabe

Give us the URL for the site so we can examine it first hand. With out looking at the site you should change the theme to White theme which does not use files for background and therefore will not restrict the amount of space the background takes up. That's just a guess though.

  • Browser background uploaded to my mac host but not my real website :( help!

    Hello,
Thanks in advance for your help. Go easy on me, I'm not too technically savvy. So, a picture is worth a thousand words. I can't for the life of me understand why the browser background doesn't show up on my regular website. the other things that are missing are the little iweb elements. so weird. and lame.
this is how it appears: http://www.hennalounge.com/Home.html
this is how it should appear: http://web.mac.com/darcitananda/iWeb/HennaLounge/Home.html

I can't for the life of me understand why the browser background doesn't show up on my regular website.
For starters, make sure you have uploaded everything. Your url indicates that you failed to upload the folder called HennaLounge (plus the index.html file that iWeb creates alongside it). If you did that, you may well have forgotten other things as well. Make sure you use a real ftp program like Cyberduck and not some uploader provided by your host. When your site is fully uploaded, your url will look like this:
    http://www.hennalounge.com/HennaLounge/Home.html
If you don't like the duplication, change your site name inside iWeb to "hl" or whatever and republish and reupload.

  • Slow-loading browser background

Good morning. I am attempting to create a website based on a booklet I published 25 years ago. The scanned pages of the actual booklet are my page background. Each page has an original photograph constituting the browser background.
When viewing the site with Safari, Firefox, or Camino, the scanned pages load almost instantaneously, but the browser backgrounds, which I have reduced to 72 dpi using PhotoStudio, take between 5 and maybe 15 seconds to load. Is this normal? Is there a way to shorten the loading time?
    The address is http://web.mac.com/henrysummers/APinchofHistory,aDashofLegend.

I use ImageWell to reduce image size as it gives you a visual indication of the reduction in download time as you move the slider. It saves a lot of time in getting the compromise between quality and speed.

  • Browser background not showing up on ipad or iphone

I have published a site and the browser background (which is an important part of my design) does not show up on my ipad or iphone when I visit the sight. I have published several websites from iweb and their browser backgrounds show up on my ipad and iphone. Have they changed the software or am I doing something wrong?

Your link, bluecollarmedia.com. does not work.  Neither does www.bluecollarmedia.com.  Go to your site and copy the URL from the browser's URL field and paste it in a new reply for us.

  • Change Browser Background Color with Image Fill

I inserted a picture using 'Image Fill' and 'Original Size' under Browser Background in the Page Layout tab and the browser background, I assume, defaults to white.
I need the browser background to be a standard black color with an Image Fill. I searched around the iWeb preferences and tabs but found no option...
    Many thanks in advance!
    Alex

The only way to get a black browser background is to set it to black. If you tile the photo there will be not browser background or make the image large enough so that it would take a very large browser window to exceed the photo's size. Or create a very large canvas with the photo in it at its original size and the rest of the area black.

  • Browser Background Color

I am new to iWeb and have searched the archives, but can't seem to figure this one out. I am using one of the themes to do a quick webpage, but have stumbled on an issue. When I use a browser background color, it bleeds over the page. I have tried to increase the page content, but to no avail. I know it has to be something fairly obvious that I am not doing.
    Here's the url.
    http://web.mac.com/clashbridge/BurgenundBerge/Days1_%262.html
The site is not ready for primetime yet, but any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Carole

You changed the page background from a tiled image to a gradient color.
Change it back to its previous state.
If you forgot what it was, add a new page with the same theme and check.

  • Browser background color question

    Hello,
I have read in some article, that not all Browser background colors are readable by all computers.
So I am wondering: when I am choosing the right color for my website's Browser Background, can I pick any color from color picker?
Or should I only use certain "universal" color, which is guaranteed to be readable on any viewer's computer.
    Thank you .

Just as there are web-safe fonts, there are also web-safe colors. Your color window has all the information you need. See.....

  • Browser background not showing up

I FINALLY got my website (www.unyquefiretrucks.com) to load but now the browser background does not appear!!! It showed up ok when I had published to MobileMe originally.
The homepage has a diamond plate (aluminum) browser background and crosspieces on the homepage itself to divide the sections (you can see the outline of the cross pieces but they don't show up) while the rest of the pages use a background with the maltese cross (fire dept. emblem) as the broswer background (no page background used). On my 9/11 memorial pages, I used a design as the page background with a color as the browser background & that appears fine. With that in mind I am confused as to why the homepage is not showing up properly...I used a web safe color for the page background & the diamond plate (tile) for the browser background. I should mention that the homepage is 875 px wide while the rest of the pages are 980 px wide...don't think this should be an issue because it appeared ok on MobileMe but who knows...that's why I'm on these forums!!
HELP!!!! I finally got this thing to load properly so I need to get this last little tweak taken care of. If you want/need to see what the site looks like normally, the unoptimized version is still accessible at
    http://web.me.com/firescueguy/UNYQUEFIRETRUCKS/uNYquefiretrucks_home.html
Should I just add the maltese cross as the page background with a web safe color for the browser background on the bulk of my pages? Still not quite sure how that will affect the homepage with the diamond plate not showing up. BTW, eliminating the diamond plate on the homepage is NOT an option, that makes the entire page IMHO.
Thanks in advance for the help, these forums have been a good source of info for me. Thanks, Tom

Old Toad, thanks for the reply...FYI, I used an optimization program called HTML Optimizer Plus that FTP's my site to the server (actually much quicker than CyberDuck IMO). While I have a 1-to-1 set up for tomorrow, I would like to pick your brain as you seem to be pretty knowledgeable judging by your numerous posts. Exactly how would I load those background .gif files? They are currently in a folder on my desktop with various backgrounds. Oddly enough, the background for the 9/11 pages loaded with no problem.
Thanks for the tip on the activity window (I did not know about that tool), that definitely gave more insight into what I was missing. I will give some thought to remove the border (will probably try it on a page or two to see how it looks first before changing the whole site).
One last thing...I had named my homepage index.html (that file still exists on the server) but the optimizer program generated the file index.html.html - if I deleted this file, would the server presumably recognize the standard index.html file?
Look forward to hearing your input. Thanks again for your help, Tom

  • Browser background showing at bottom of page

    Hi all,
all the pages on my site (still under construction) measure 700pxW x 480pxW. The browser background is a different colour to the content, but on all pages except the home page the content goes from top to bottom, which is how I want it.
On the home page, the background is showing at the bottom of the page when the content should be going, like the other pages, from top to bottom.
    Any ideas?

We can tell more about the problem if we can visit the site to examine it first hand. Otherwise, a guess would be to put an empty text box on the page and drag it down far enough so the footer is lowered to the point where the page content is below the lower edge of the screen. Or increase the page height in the Inspector/Page/Layout pane beyond the 480 size. Maybe more like 800.

  • Question for Varkgirl re: browser backgrounds in iWeb

    Hi Varkgirl
Been checking out your iWeb FAQ site (if anyone needs iWeb help, your first port of call needs to be http://web.mac.com/varkgirl/iWeb/iWebFAQ/FAQ%20Home/FAQ%20Home.html), loving your work hun!
Just a quick question - how did you get the browser background? The standard options in the Page Inspector only seem to be colours.
    Many thanks!

I think varkgirl is asleep over there in the EST timezone...so I hope she doesn't mind me jumping in here....
Are you talking about the striped background? It's the standard browser background for the "Notebook" theme. If you want to use it you can select the blank template and get rid of the header and footer images.
You can also just take this image.... and use it to tile any other template page of your choosing....
    /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
Just look in the Inspector Page tab and under either Page or Browser background, select image and then tile.

  • Browser background not filling

When I view my site in Safari the browser background color does not fill all the way to the bottom sometimes. There is a white space at the bottom. It seams to stop at the footer distance.
Reloading the page 2 or 3 times will get it to load all the way.
Granted, this is not a big deal but I use it for my business and it looks a bit amateurish.
Oddly enough, when I boot my iMac from windows and view it in IE there is no problem.

I see the object now. It's a grayish line, 2 pixels x 735 pixels, which is represented by either the file stroke_2.png or stroke_6.png. Check your layout, particularly the footer to see if there's an object somewhat hidden down there.
    What theme are you using?

  • How to stop browser background image from scrolling?

So is there a way (an easy way) to stop browser background image from scrolling with the page?
    Thanks

If it's a single image, add this code to center the page horizontally:
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundPosition='50% 0%';

  • How can i change my Browser background image size in Iweb???

    Hello,
I am trying to upload a picture to use in iweb as browser background which will be fixed.
The problem is that when i upload the image it doesn’t appear in full. It zooms in a portion of the image.
This is really annoying and have been trying to change it for days.
Have a look and it might give you a better idea http://www.inthepocketdrumstudio.com
    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you. A

I really do not know what resizing the browser windows means.
Perhaps I must go back to school again.
Ah, I remember. Drag the bottom right-hand corner of the browser window to resize it.
Anyway, here's the widget page :
    http://www.inthepocketdrumstudio.com/InThePocketDrumStudio_files/widget0_markup. html
You should move the image out of the InThePocketDrumStudio_files folder.
With the code i provided the image will display in the webpage.
Also remove the image as background in iWeb.

  • Change browser background size dimensions

    Hello,
I am looking to put in a BG image in the browser but I need to size it so it fits exactly to the browser. Does anybody know the dimensions for this?
    thank you

Everybody's browser size will be different. There is no set size for a browser background. If you have one user viewing on a 1024x768 and another 1440x900 they are using different sizes (presuming they have their browsers open to the max) then there are the people who use (for example) a 24" imac and may not want their browser open to its fullest extent; how big do they have it??
Your best bet is to design for the current most popular size for a browser/screen resolution which is 1024x768.
    Hope that helps.
