Browser Doesn't start in Windows 7

I just moved to Windows 7 and got JDev and all my connections working.
One problem remains, when I "run" a jsp from Jdev, it doesn't start my browser I have to copy and paste the URL into the browser and then it comes up?
Does anyone know how to fix this?
THanks,
Jet

ah, that was it! I upgraded to Windows 7 and copied over the whole JDev directory, figuring everything would work. Didn't realize that W7 uses a different directory name (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe). Adding in the (x86) caused the problem.
Thanks for all your help!

  • The browser doesn't start after turning off and turning on the computer

The browser doesn't start after turning off and turning on the computer. I tried to delete the program entirely (along with personal preferences), create a new account, install a different browser versions. All this did not help. (I have Windows 7.) Help, please! Every day I have to reinstall Firefox!

Hello Nastena, try a clean re-install, certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you '''remove Firefox program files''' and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    * check also if your antivirus or other security software(firewall, antispyware etc) blocks firefox access.
    thank you

  • HP director doesn't start in Windows 8.1

Have just purchased a new desktop which has Windows 8.1 installed. Have installed the software for PSC 2175 All in one which include the HP Director to manage the printer including scanning. This worked in Windows XP but doesn't start in Windows 8.1. Have run the HP trouble shooter which says that sacn does work. Should it even though there are messages saying there are compatibilty issues.

    Hello @manzagol ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are haveing problems with HP director and windows 8.1.
    I would like to help.
In 2004 HP director was replaced by the HP solution center.
The software you are trying to use is over ten years old.
This would be why it has compatibility issues.
since you are running windows 8.1, try the HP Scan and Capture app.
This should give you the ability to scan to your computer without the HP director.

    Hi w4ll4ce,
    Welcome to Adobe Forum,
There is an option in the CC preferences which turns off the Launch at startup. Go to the CC icon to bring up the window and then click on the ger icon. Now select the Preferences...command.
on the window that now displays, check the 'Start at launch' option, and close the window via red button in the upper left.
Now the CC will start at launch of the windows i.e at the start up.

  • OracleXETNSListener doesn't start on Windows XP

    Hi,
I installed Oracle Database Express 10g which includes Apex 2.1 on Windows XP Pro sp1, with the standard options.
It ran well until I stop and start my PC.
The apex home page doesn't work anymore. The raison seems to be the TNS listner which doesn't start.
Regarding similar posts on the forum, I tried multiple solutions, but it ever doesn't work.
    The listener can't be restarded.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi,  I had same problem with 4.0.2, 3.0 and 2.01.  Using XP, SP3.  Installing version 1.72 solved the problem and it works fine, A search engine "Digital Edition 1.72" will find you a link for it.

    Hi,
I installed ADE 4.0 on several PCs with Windows XP, but it doesn't start.
    Do I need any prerequisites?
Same prblem appears with ADE 3.0
Yes, I know, XP is obsolete, but we're migrating to 7 and still run XP machines. ;-)
Thanks a lot and kind regards!

  • Windows 8.1 doesn't start Camera Window when Canon SX110IS is connected

When my Canon SX110IS is connected and turned on, Device Manager shows the camera as a connected Portable Device; and clicking Start/Control Panel/AutoPlay/Devices lists the Canon SX110IS and shows "Downloads Images from Canon Camera (Canon CameraWIndow)" as the action to take when camera is connected; however, when the camera is connected and turned on, Windows 8.1 doesn't start the CameraWindow program.

Solution: I thought that setting preferences using Windows 8.1 Control Panel / AutoPlay would make those actions happen.  NOT SO!  You MUST ALSO click to select "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" at the top of the AutoPlay window.  When you have your preferences set for your Media Card and your Canon Camera, AND have that also selected, the preferred actions you chose WILL take place when you either connect your camera to your computer via USB cable and turn the camera on, or insert your SD card in your computer.
In answer to why I connect via USB cable rather than inserting the SD card, it takes the same time for me to open the AV door and connect a USB cable between the camera and the computer as it does to open the battery door, remove the SD card, and insert it in the computer.  So I guess it just depends on which mode you prefer to use.

  • Import wizard has hanged for an hour; browser doesn't start

    1. I am trying to install Firefox. For the past hour it has been hanged at this point:
    Import Wizard
    Importing...
The following items are currently being imported...
    Internet Options
    Cookies
    Browsing History
    Favorites
    [<Back][Next>][Cancel]
All 3 buttons are grayed out, disabled.
    2. Internet Explorer is still working even though Firefox already set Firefox to be my default browser.
In Internet Explorer I tried to view http://www.mozilla.org
But Mozilla's site redirected Internet Explorer to http://www.mozilla.jp
At the bottom of http://www.mozilla.jp, I clicked on words "mozilla.org (グローバルサイト)".
Those words are a link to http://www.mozilla.org
But Mozilla's site redirected Internet Explorer to http://www.mozilla.jp
Now I'm stuck in an infinite loop too.
Every time I click on "mozilla.org (グローバルサイト)",
it repeatedly displays http://www.mozilla.jp with words at the bottom "mozilla.org (グローバルサイト)".
    3. Meanwhile, the Import Wizard is still hanged, and I still can't open Firefox as a browser.
    4. By the way, the reason Firefox is trying to install in English is that
a Google search for firefox showed site http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
and http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ did not redirect to mozilla.jp
    5. Meanwhile, the Import Wizard is still hanged, and I still can't open Firefox as a browser.
The OS is Windows 7 SP1 64-bit Japanese with all Windows Updates except that
Internet Explorer is version 10 because Internet Explorer 11 breaks Outlook 2003.

    As previously stated:
So in summary, not much damage has been done, but the hang of the original Import Wizard is not solved.
When the original Import Wizard hanged during installation, there was a Firefox icon on the desktop but double-clicking the icon did not start Firefox because there was already a firefox.exe process (the hanging installer) so it would not even be possible to do the procedure of "import from another browser". I did not know that it was hanging on favorites. In fact I think it was not hanging on favorites, it was probably hanging on history and it was hanging on abusing my Outlook.pst file because Outlook couldn't even run. I think it didn't reach the stage of importing favorites because that would come later than the hang of importing history.
But at the time, I didn't know what it was hanging on, it was just hanging there for an hour with the Cancel button grayed out (together with two other grayed out buttons). I thought I was going to have to use Windows Task Manager to kill the installer and then uninstall whatever amount of Firefox had been installed. But I tried the [X] in the upper right corner and it did work more or less, even though the Cancel button didn't.
The original problem is not solved.
Also the abuse of Outlook.pst is not solved. Why would Firefox (not Thunderbird) prevent Outlook from accessing Outlook.pst?
I do know that everyone's a volunteer and I can't complain the way I complain about Microsoft, but I can still say accurately that the problem is not solved. If you don't want to solve it then mark it WONTFIX, but don't pretend that you solved it.

  • Multiple problems: can't open two windows, browser doesn't close although window disappears, and after working for a while I loose my ability to cut and paste or use drop down arrows

Maybe two weeks ago I discovered that I could no longer open two windows at a time (I can still open multiple tabs). I am also having problems with cutting and pasting, which is crucial to my on-line job. Plus, when I exit Firefox, it doesn't always shut down, so then when you go to re-open, of course, it won't (unless you go into process and turn it off). I have re-installed multiple times and I have also used restore. Nothing seems to be fixing this and I really, really don't want to use IE, especially for work.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    See also "Hang at exit":
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs
    * [[Firefox hangs]]
Maybe also do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.<br />

  • Firefox doesn't start in Windows 8 and none of your suggested solutions worked

I haven't been able to start the Firefox and I don't get any message on start-up. I tried all the suggested solutions from your support pages, but none work, as for most of them you need to have the browser open.
I uninstalled and re-installed the browser, but to no avail.

    Hi,
    1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
    2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
    3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    o Windows:
     C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
     C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
o Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
o Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

  • Installation doesn't start in Windows 7...

    Hello:
I am trying to install Reader (and Flash) on a Windows 7 machine.  The installer copies itself several times in the temp folder as if it was attempting to start the installer, but it never does.  Same behavior happens with the Flash installer.
I have ran all sort of registry cleaners and cleared up all registry entries related with adobe.  Started the computer without any anti-virus or other protection tool that could be killing the installer.
I give up, anyone with the same problem ?
    Thanks,
    Juan

Download the installer for Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and save it to disk.
Download the installer(s) for Flash Player from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 and save to disk.
Close all browser windows, then run the downloaded installers.
