Browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone being ignored

Seems that the browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone is being ignored for jpgs, svg's, etc... Still sets them with the "file came from another computer...' blah blah and blocks them.

one workaround - log in as an admin
gpedit.msc
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager
Enable: Do not preserve zone information in file attachments

  • Browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone not working

I have browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone set to false but my downloaded files are still blocked. I remember this was working well in the past.

Button '''Unblock''' work's fine ! But every file downloaded by Firefox is flagged as "came from another computer on internet...". In the past by using those two settings from above Firefox was just saving files to downloaded location '''without telling to OS''' that those files came from another location so I don't have to right click every file and click Unblock from it's properties. It is annoying :(

  • My firefox 17.0.1 on Win 7 64 bit SP1 still crashes when I download ANY type of file EVEN browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone is false ... WHY ???

If that plugin isn't working properly then its developer needs to fix this via an update.

  • I wonder why you stopped the Plug-in for IDM (Internet Download Manager) in your last ver. Beta 4?

i was very excited to try the beta ver. 4 of your Navigator and i was shocked about the truth that you are now preventing the IDM (Internet Download Manager) of being attached to you Browser... Hopefully to hear something soon about allowing this Plug-in to be used with your new ver.

Versions 6.9.8 and older were blocked because they were causing Firefox to crash. Try installing the latest version of IDM.

  • Download Manager Not Opening In Web Browser

    Operating System:
    - OS X (10.4.8)
    Web Browser(s) Affected:
    - Safari v2.0.4 (419.3)
    - Mozilla Firefox v2.0
    Description of Problem:
When attempting to download a file, the download manager fails to open and the file is instead sent to the browser as a URL.
    Example:
When clicking on http://www.website.com/foobar.dmg instead of download manager opening and transferring the file to the local drive, it is instead opened in a new browser tab/window as a URL and is never downloaded.
It does not matter whether the file is dmg, tar, zip, etc. This happening in both my Safari and Firefox browsers (which makes me think it's something OS specific).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    SoulGrind

    Hi SoulGrind,
It does not matter whether the file is dmg, tar, zip, etc. This happening in both my Safari and Firefox browsers (which makes me think it's something OS specific).
Or possibly plug-in specific? Did you happen to install SpeedDownload at some point as this sounds like the symptom of a bad install.
Try uninstalling SpeedDownload via the installer file over at http://www.yazsoft.com/sitepages/download.html - it has an uninstall option. To download it, you should be able to right click/control click on the file link to obtain the file.
    Good luck!

  • Is IDM cc 7.2.8 the plugin/extension thats needed for Internet Download Manager for the Mozilla Browser family? Do i need it if i've removed IDM?

I had the Internet Download Manager and I also removed it today. I removed and reset a bunch of things cuz my system was hardly working and hardly letting me do anything. I am happy with the downloader i had to begin with but my question is: IDM cc 7.2.8 is an active addon for my sea monkey browser/probably firefox also, but... is IDM cc 7.2.8 the plugin/extension/addon for Internet Download Manager thats needed for Mozilla Browsers.?
Or is it the Internet Download Manager program itself, in full?
I would like to know so I can remove it if I dont need it because I already removed the IDM Program earlier today, and am staying with my old downloader.
I am running out of free space on my system and dont want any extras that arent needed taking up the space thats still available. If I dont need this add-on because I dont have IDM, Please let me know.

    Hello,
As a user of Internet Download Manager, I can confirm that 'IDM cc 7.2.8' is connected with IDM.
Therefore, if you have uninstalled Internet Download Manager, you no longer need 'IDM cc 7.28'
    Hope that helps.

  • "Remember download history" setting is being ignored

I'm not sure if this began immediately with the Firefox 8 upgrade, but FF is currently saving downloads in the History menu despite the fact that I've got "Remember download history" unticked.
I can't find anyone else with this problem, and think something in my profile directory may be corrupt. Can anyone suggest which file in there is likely to be the culprit? (so that I can delete it.)

You haven't answered if you only see those files as history items and not in the download manager.
I also see an entry in the history if I save a GIF file from that page.

  • Can Acrobat XI trials be downloaded directly, instead of using Akamai Download Manager?

If you are having issues downloading Adobe Acrobat XI trials using Akamai Download Manager, you can download directly in a browser. Follow the instructions here:
    Download Acrobat XI trials directly

Thank you for the link, and for going to the trouble of making it available.
Please don't think that I'm intentionally making things more difficult than they have to be.  But as someone who recently passed his Security+ test, I cannot accept.  Even if scanned by AV software, I cannot run the risk of there being anything malicious in the file.
NOT THAT I THINK YOU WOULD!!!  I don't! Mind you, I just cannot take that risk, especially since this is for work (I'm a federal contractor.)

  • Firefox download manager problems

The default download manager in Firefox started showing a strange behavior today: any file I try to download (either in the default \download folder or in a folder chosen by me) is actually downloaded by the browser but the download status bar of the file always shows an "unknown remaining time" message while being fully green (https://www.dropbox.com/s/n891ya38ifm83c3/Cattura%20di%20schermata%20%284%29.png?dl=0).
The real problem is when I download files like .torrent that as soon as are downloaded need the torrent client to start (torrent client that doesn't start because for firefox the .torrent download is never completed).
I tried disabling the antivirus (bitdefender) but the problem persisted. In Chrome downloads work fine (also with antivirus enabled).

This is as of the 32.0b'''9''' and it has been fixed and will be in the next 32.0 build, likely the 32.0 RC1 build though normally such a fix would be a Beta build like 32.0b10. The Release is next Tuesday so little time. In '''about:config''' you can try modify the value for browser.safebrowsing.appRepURL to be blank in meantime.

  • Problems to Download Dreamweaver CS4 with Akamai Download Manager!

I want to download Dreamweaver CS4 Italian Windows Trial version.
I have Internet Explorer 7, PC with OS Windows XP x64bit Corporate, Core2Quad Q9650, Motherboard MSI P45Platinum with Ethernet 10/100/1000,
    4GBRAM,3 HDD 500GB WesternDigital,Nvidia GeForce 9400GT.
I have installed "Akamai Download Manager ActiveX" control asked on the top of window popup.
    Clicked Yes:Installation confirmation.
But I have tried to click the button "Download" and just one window with this message appears and disappears immediately:
Per scaricare il software è necessario installare Akamai Download Manager...
    Problemi di download?
    Assistenza per il download...
Il sistema non dispone dei requisiti minimi per eseguire Akamai Download Manager.
(The system doesn't meets the minimum system requirements to run Akamai Download Manager.)
    I can't download anything. Why?
I have disable Pop-ups Blocker, and disabled also Anti-Phishing Filter.
Disabled also Antivirus and the Firewall.
Set and lowered Security Protection from Tools>Internet Options: to "Medium"; and also, another time, set to "Personalized" with all the controls
    switched to "Active".
Set Privacy>Settings>"Accetta tutti i cookie"(lowered to full bottom).
I have read this Akamai Download Manager FAQ:
-"Nothing happens when I click the download link"
If nothing happened after you clicked the download link, either your pop-up blocker or a high security setting on your web browser may have stopped
the Akamai DLM window from opening.
If you have a pop-up blocker enabled in your web browser or in your Internet toolbar (such as the Yahoo! toolbar or the Google toolbar), you will
need to disable your pop-up blocker to start your download. For additional information, and for instructions on changing your security setting, see
the "Akamai Download Manager system requirements" (ServiceNote kb400530).
Note: The download manager can sometimes take up to a minute to load. Please allow time for the initial loading before assuming there is a problem
Thus, I have followed this rules in Akamai Download Manager System Requirements:
    Internet Explorer 7
    1) Access your Internet options from the Windows Control Panel (Internet Options) or by selecting Tools > Internet Options in Internet Explorer
    2) Select the Security Tab
    3) Click Custom Level
    4) Scroll through the list of security options and set:
-ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Download signed ActiveX controls > Enable or Prompt
-ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Enable or Prompt
-ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting > Enable or Prompt
-Downloads > File download > Enable
-Miscellaneous > Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints > Enable
-Scripting > Active scripting > Enable
    5) Click OK
    6) Click OK again
    But nothing changes.
On my PC I have also this installation: "J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5" and "Java(TM)6 Update 15".
But the download doesn't start at all.
    1) How can I do to download Dreamweaver CS4-Windows-ITALIAN language?
    2) Is it possible to download 364.8 MegaBytes without Akamai Download Manager?
    Please Hurry!
    Horsepower0171.

another option you may have is resettofactory
    start- run- type:
    cmd
    press enter
    type:
    cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    press enter
    type:
    loader.exe /resettofactory
    press enter
    please perform a backup first
test your browser before you restore your backup, and to be ssafe I would do a selective restore
open DTM, go to backup/restore- advanced
    top left click on file-open
find your backup, it will load on the left side
you current working BB will be on the right side
transfer ONLY the absolute important databases from the left to the right(address, cal, phone logs, messages, sms, tasks, memo)... dont do any that you dont know and dont do any OPTIONS ones

  • How do I re-enable showing the download files history in the download manager window?

    System: Windows XP
I am trying to re-enable showing/retaining the list of downloaded files in the download manager window. I want to be able to drag and drop directly from that window into a folder of my choosing. (I used to be able to do this, but apparently I messed that up...)
I have tried the suggestions that could easily be found, including setting Firefox to remember all history in the Privacy tab of Options.
I also deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file to "reset" the browser defaults, but to no avail.
    Any ideas/help?
    Thanks.

By the way, a few other things you probably know:
    (1) The setting to keep the downloads list displayed after a download is here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > General
Check "Show the Downloads window..." and ''uncheck'' "Close it..."
    (2) You can always show the list by pressing Ctrl+j
The mimeTypes.rdf file isn't particularly relevant to this problem; it affects what application Firefox uses to open a particular type of file.
However, there is a database file which stores your download history which might be corrupted. You could rename that file and have Firefox start building a new one.
    (1) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
Help (or Alt+h) > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
    (2) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., File > Exit)
    (3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''downloads.sqlite''' to something else, like downloads.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
    (4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.
    Any improvement?

  • How do I make download manager behave the way it should?

    == Issue
    ==
I have another kind of problem with Firefox
    == Description
    ==
When downloading a filetype that is set to "Always ask", Download Manager (DM) offers two radio-buttons and a checkbox, for "open with", "save to disk" and "always do thls", respectively.
My question regards the first. The option now reads "Open with ....[[browse]".
It used to read, and should still read, "Open with ,,, [[TheRightApplicationForThisFiletype]"
If I do click [[Browse], FF offers a list of helper applications, most of which are wildly wrong and could not handle the filetype -- such as Acrobat, or FF itself. But when I do pick the correct application from this list, now DM momentarily and finally looks like it should have looked in the first place:
    "Open with ... [[MSWordWhacker]"
and upon clicking "OK", opens the file with WordWhacker.
The next time, though, we're back to [[Browse]. I've browsed enough! I feel like a sheep!
Everybody starts telling me about the Applications menu and setting it to "Always open with WordWhacker", and that's not the right answer. THAT just automatically opens the file with WordWhacker instead of offering me the options to either open or save the file. I need the "Save to disk" option every time.
In the [[browse] list of helper applications WordWhacker isn't even the first option. The first option is FireFox, and FF can't handle WordWhacker files. Neither can any of the other choices except MS WordWhacker.
My windows file associations are correct, MSWW is the only application associated with the filetype. I've tried uninstallling and reinstalling the app, no change.
One suggestion from IRC was that my profile was corrupt, so I deleted the whole folder and had FF recreate me. No difference. Downgraded to 3.5 and back to 3.6, also no difference.
The IRC guys are out of ideas. (Thanks for trying, though!)
How do I get DM to stop offering me
    "Open with ...[[Browse]"
    and start offering me
    "Open with ... [[WordWhacker]
instead, when I click on urls for wordwhacker files?

Well, there's no help here, it seems. There is a work-around in the form of an add-on called Open Download
This adds another radio button to the dialogue, and it's labeled,
"Open with default Win32 Application". It works and does exactly that -- opens the file with the application that Windows uses for that filetype.
It doesn't, notice, say what that application IS, so you must know that yourself. And naturally, if something you install plays "swipe the file association" as so many applications do, this will change which application gets used without notice to you.
Clearly, it would be better if DM worked as outlined, and told you what application it was going to use. But this workaround solves the basic problem.

  • Adobe Download Manager Creative Cloud.

I’ve been back and fourth with customer service about an issue I’ve encountered after installing creative cloud, more specifically in the downloading stage. Most of the trouble-shooting steps have failed, and although I have not completed them all, I want to see if someone I the adobe community can resolve this issue.
I’ve been attempting to install creative suit on my laptop which has
windows XP version 2011 service pack 3. My internet browser is Mozilla
Originally when I purchased the subscription and after installing attempted to download the actual software to my computer and I was left with an error message stating: “the remote server is not responding in a proper manner. Please retry after a few minutes”. I did and same result.
A customer service rep provided me with a link to a patch.
Once again the install of the program worked but once I managed to get to the download part of it a new error message appeared
“Adobe Download Manager is corrupted and must be reinstalled. Download now (which I did and it takes me to the page with the patch which i was already provided), or contact customer service”.
I returned to customer service and was provided with the creative suite cleaner. I cleared out the original installation and (just in case) uninstalled my trial software Adobe Ill. (which, by the way I have no issues whatsoever installing any trial software. My only issue is with this.)
I installed adobe creative cloud again, install went well once again the same error message has before appeared (the file is corrupted) I can’t figure this out, and it’s killing me. I have on my computer an old version of photoshopcs2 and adobe flash 11 active X (I don’t know if that matters). I’ve tried many different alternatives, went has far has created a new admin account on my computer to see if that will do the trick, yet still left with that dreaded error message. I really hope someone can help me resolve this.

KittieKatNY2013 it sounds like you are experiencing network configuration issues with the Adobe Application Manager.  If you are on a managed network please work with your I.T. department to ensure that the Adobe Application Manager/PDApp.exe has proper access to the Internet.
If you are on a non-managed network then please see Sign in or activation errors | CS6, CS5.5 Subscriptions, CS6 Perpetual - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html which discusses several common causes for the difficulties which you are experiencing.

  • Creative Cloud App breaks Adobe Download Manager, doesn't install apps, now I'm unable open apps

This has been the worst cloud app experience I've ever seen.
First of all the CC app overwrites the Adobe Download Manager to the point where you'll never be able to go back to it again.
I would normally be OK with this, but the CC app doesn't work and closes itself instantly, rendering it completely useless and unable to install any of the CC apps.
After an hour and 20 minutes between being on hold, and speaking with support, I have no solution.
I'm now at a point where I have no apps installed, and I can't install any new apps because the CC app doesn't work, and the Download Manager will either a) error if CC app isn't installed, or b) open the CC app if it is installed (which doesn't work, and instantly closes).
    Overall, it's a disaster

    Hey Jason,
I'm wonder if it might help to start fresh,
    Uninstall any Creative Cloud programs
Control Panel > Programs & Features (Windows 7)
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (XP)
Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers (Mac OS X)
Run the cleaner tool to ensure everything is removed
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app from https://creative.adobe.com/products
    Reinstall applications
It will be a lot of work but it will probably fix it.

I'm having the following problem how do I download do not stop when I close Safari, is there any way, eg when I'm downloading xcode and closing the browser it is stopped and can not resume from where it was, I ask how it assists , would act as a download manager ..

If you're using Safari to download and not any 3rd-party download app, such as SpeedDownload, then don't quit Safari until the download is finished. IIRC, what you're describing is normal behavior. The 3rd-party download apps have the features that you want.
