Browser download problems

Hello Everone
Firstly, if this is posted in the wrong place, I apologise and would appreciate it if someone can point me towards a better forum to ask my questions.
I have a Nokia 6120 on 3 with X-series silver, I love having the internet on my phone but I can't download files! If I have a symbian app capable of opening a certain file type, then why can't I download it to my phone's memory card and then select what to open it with?
If there is a link to a file, be it an mpg, avi or wmv or even a torrent, if I click that link browser just freezes for a while. I know I can't use a torrent client on my phone, but I don't see why I shouldn't be able to download it to my memory card and use it with my PC later?
I have Core Player on my phone, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an all in one media player, excellent app that handles nearly all file types, divx included, so just because the default player which is Real Player, can't handle it why can't I save it and open it with Core Player?
I've tried other browsers such as Tea Shark and Opera Mini and none of them have allowed me to actually download files from web pages. Does anyone have any ideas? I was quite excited to take advantage of 3.5G, although to be honest it doesn't seem any faster than 3G was, but this is quite a big part of the internet experience that's lacking in the mobile world, at least my mobile world!
Any help, suggestions, tips or whatever will be greatly appreciated.

Does IE give you a security notice that you're not allowed to download software, or it just dies?
I suggest asking a friend or colleague to download Firefox to a USB flash drive or CD-R for you. The file is pretty large to email...

Inspiration browser download problem

I'm unable to upgrade the Inspiration browser for elements 10. I folled the instructions and uninstalled the existing inpiration browserand have downloaded AIR. Can you help?

Have you tried troubleshooting using the steps listed on this doc ? Although this refers to an older version of Elements(7 actually) but can try the troubleshooting steps listed and let us know the results.

Browser download problem.

In my bb z10 I press and hold the download button on a specific websites and the "save linked file" option doesn't show even when i am turning the desktop mode on, but this option worked from few weeks, and now i can get it , can somebody propose me a solution?

As others have noted, this is a classic kernel panic (KP) and should happen with a new machine. AppleCare's Express Lane. Do note that if you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

Can't get rid of mobile browser download ad

When I log on there is a foxfire mobile browser download ad. I can't use it and can't find any way to get rid of it. Also, I have tried multiple times to change my home page using the instructions in your help video and it doesn't work.

On which page is this?
Is that one of the snippets on the about:home page?
Can you attach a screenshot?

I have been trying to download Oracle 9i for the past three weeks. Every time I try to download the above mentioned files the file Login.jsp gets copied. I've tried using both GetRight and GoZilla!
Could someone please advise me what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently downloaded Oracle9i personal edition, it took me more than 7 hours, and the downloaded zip file is A91514-01.zip. You need to check how reliable is your internet connection. regards. winston

Adobe FireFox n Downloading Problems all comming on at once

So i have firefox on windows 8.1
year and a half no problem
( only thing i added recently was ad-aware and spybot )
anyhow that was 2+ weeks ago
Watching hulu n youtube no problem
all of a sudden i start having problems today.
Reinstalled firefox
uninstalled all adobe addons
heres where im at
Every Ad (not the acual video but the ads that play before )
either it turns all green with purple and white noise
or page goes all slow and has errors
on hulu if i refresh 3 times it will skip the ads and Play my movie
But NONE OF THE Ads will play
but video will play
have tried all other posts
reset firefox
reinstall firefox
remove addons
heres the kicker
every time i now try to download
either i wont finish the last 1% or is corrupt

Thank you for your question. I understand that you have installed ad aware and a spybot two weeks ago and the advertisements on hulu will not play. I also understand that when you download that the last 1% will not finish.
In order to fix the problem, try disabling the scanning as follows:
# In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
# Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page. A list of settings should appear
# Filter the list by typing in the search bar at the top. Type in scanWhenDone. You should now find the browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone preference.
# Double-click on that preference to set the value to false.
# Next, try to download something and see if it still hangs.

Save as self-contained movie option no working in browser downloaded video

HELP!!!!!
Today my QuickTime Pro 7 option arrow to save browser downloaded videos as self-contained movie has stopped functioning. Any suggestions?

MOV files are a container format, not a compression format. Also, when saving as a self-contained MOV, it simply repackages the file with the same encoding, so this problem is independent of compression issues.

Yes, that was going to be my next step. I posted the question there, and they said the increase in size is a side effect of making the WMV compatible with the MOV format. It has something to do with ASF packetization.

To get around this problem, I guess I'll just have to recompress all the files in some other (non-WMV) format.

If downloads hang at the last minute (just before reaching 100%), the cause might be antivirus software which tries to scan the file and during that process hangs the Firefox instance.

The best thing I advise you to do when installing Oracle 9i onto GNU/Debian is to carry a search on the OTN newsgroups for the keyword 'Debain'. I found that there were quite a few previous posts which explain in considerable detail the processes which should be followed when installing Oracle 9i onto Debain. Failing that, if you carry out a Google search for "Oracle 9i on Debian", you will there quite a few web pages which provide information of installing Oracle 9i onto Debian.

Cannot download - missing browser.download.dir, browser.download.downloadDir, and browser.download.lastDir in about:config - how do I get them back?

I have been unable to download anything using Firefox. I went through all the steps suggested in Firefox support, but nothing works. I am missing the following files:
browser.download.dir
browser.download.downloadDir
browser.download.lastDir

I see an IDM FlashPlugin extension in your above posted More system details list.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

When attempting to delete the complete "Browsing & Download History" Firefox stops responding.

Since I had not deleted my browsing history in a few months I attempted to do so today. Firefox stopped responding. After waiting around 10-15 minutes I ended the process and attempted to delete everything from "today" and it worked. I then, one by one, deleted everything for "all times" except "Browsing & Download History", and it all worked. Now all that is left is to delete this, but every time I try to delete it, and nothing else, Firefox stops responding.

How much history items do you have if the check that in the History Manager?
If there are too many then try to clear them month by month or in case you do not care to lose all history delete the places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder (Firefox will rebuild the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup).
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
