Browser/Effects tab problem

I accidentally closed my browser tab. I got it back, but now I can get the browser and the effects tabs to show up at the same time so I can easily switch back and forth.
I've tried trashing preferences, arrange selections but can't figure it out.
Is there a quick fix?

Drag the effects tab next to the project tab so it snaps to it. Or trash your preferences. If that didn'd do it you didn't trash the prefs correctly.

You cannot drag the effects themselves to the timeline. You add them to a clip in the Viewer, just as you have done.
If the clip was already in the timeline when you opened it in the Viewer (by double-clicking it in the timeline to open it in the Viewer) and then added the reverb effect, there is nothing further to do, you have added the effect to the clip. You don't drag it back to the timeline.
You only have to drag the clip to the timeline if the clip was not already in the timeline (for example, if you opened the clip from the FCE Browser; or set different In and Out points in a master clip to use a different portion of the master clip in a different location in your timeline).
Depending on the effect you add, you may have to render the timeline after adding the effect. But I don't think reverb requires immediate rendering. One other note, you said you were working with an audio clip ... audio clips need to be AIFF (not MP3 or something else) and preferably 16-bit stereo.

What does "preferred" column heading mean in effects tab of browser?

Ya gotta choice: no or yes. Did a search in the manual for preferred but didn't see anything that jumped out at me.

If you want to cut down on the number of effects that show in the Browser window/Effects tab...just place a check mark(s) in the preferred column, then go to MainMenu/Effects/Effect Availability and select 'Only My Preferred Effects'.

Java plug-in 1.4.1 proxy configuration issue causes JTextField TAB problems

I have an applet that has multiple JTextFields in it. I recently updated my Java plug-in to version 1.4.1, and now using TAB to navigate among text fields does not always work when I first bring up a browser and load the applet.
I've found, however, that if I open the Java Console and hit "p" (reload proxy configuration), and then reload my applet (hit Refresh/Reload on my browser), the Tab key works as expected. I did not have this issue with releases prior to 1.4.1.
Any clue on how I can ensure proper proxy configuration upon initial instantiation of the browser? I've seen the problem in both IE 6.0 and Netscape 7.0.
Note that the reloading of the proxy configuration only appears to be necessary once per browser session.

The navigation isn't working. I click in the first text field to give the initial field focus. I then hit TAB and nothing happens. I have a key listener set up for the ENTER key, and this is also supposed to navigate to the next field via:

Keep losing my effects tab.

Every time I launch FCP my effects tab disappears. I go to window and click it and it comes up in a new window, not in a new tab that I can switch to from the browser tab. Then it disappears again when I relaunch. What's going on? Do I need to trash the prefs, if so can someone point to which files I need to delete as I'm new to FCP from FC Express.

Press cmd & 5 keys to get your effects browser back.
Then go to the menu bar: Window > Arrange > Save Window Layout.
FCP should then use that file at startup. If not, you can go the same route as above, choosing Load Window Layout instead.

When attempting to go on Tor private browsing , my 'tab' does NOT say firefox , it is however purple , and it says 'Torbrowser"

my computer has the Tor program loaded , i only managed to actually view Tor one time , the next several days , I go to log on to Tor , it brings up the private browsing screen after I click on the purple tab that says private browsing , the tab is purple but never said firefox , even when I know firefox has been downloaded , I am running Windows 7 Ultimate , never had this sort of problem before , but here is the most frustrating issue , while I have no problem getting to the 'private browsing' , the screen the tells me I am in 'private browsing' , simply stalls , and I cannot get beyond that screen , in other words , I can never actually get on to Tor.
So , whats the deal ??? .... Help !!!

After extracting you can try to browse to the extracted folder and start the Tor Firefox directly. Please note that though Tor uses Firefox as its browser, it is a customized one and is separate from the original Mozilla Firefox. So if you have Mozilla Firefox installed, you would have two Firefox versions and you have to start the correct version or you can start and use both. Usually Mozilla Firefox would be listed in the start menu as Mozilla Firefox.

Try using this option:
IE7 -> Internet options->General-> Tabs Settings (button)-> When a popup-encountered option -> Select "Always open pop-up in new tab".
Hope it should solve the problem.

Can't Save Custom Columns in Effects Tab?

Jerry Hoffman and D. Gilmore describe how to right-click on a column in the Browser (other than the Name column) and then choose the Save Column Layout option, which is exactly what I'm wanting to do. Weird thing though is when I try to do this for the custom column layout I've created under my Browser's Effects tab, that "Save Column Layout..." option is greyed out, along with most of the others as well.
Under the Project tab, I can Save and Load column layouts to my heart's content, but under the Effects tab, the only options which AREN'T greyed out when I right-click on a column heading (any column heading) are Hide Column (at the top) and Show Thumbnail (at the bottom). The other five in between (including Save Column Layout) are inaccessible.
Am using 6.0.2 with OS X 10.5.2. Any theories?
Bonus Question:
Is there any way to make a custom column layout in the Browser be part of a custom window arrangement, so that when I select one of my custom window arrangements FCP will load my preferred Browser column layout at the same time?

Thanks to both Jerry and Doug for that confirmation -- albeit not the one I was hoping for!
And though it may come as a surprise, I did indeed create a custom layout of the Effects tab columns: with my Browser window over on a separate monitor, I like to have the Name column set wider (so the full names of all my Nattress FX are visible), then the Description column first (also set wider so I can actually see what the description says), and then my own Comments column immediately following that.
Despite the limited number of info columns in that Effects tab, it does seem odd that they would implement a Save Column Layout option in other Browser tabs, while then displaying it but not actually implementing it in this one tab.
So along with making custom column layouts part of custom window arrangements, I guess it's time I sent in yet another Feature Request to the friendly folks at FCP Feedback.
In any case, thanks again for the confirmation that at least my system wasn't doing something weird.

Skype is opening a Browser's tab Window each time....

I'm experiencing a issue that Skype is opening a
Browser-Window (chrome) when double clicking on any Skype contact or just mouseover on the chat window.
This is happening after updateing my skype to latest version 6.18.0.106 version.

The webpage seems to be empty (no content).
Doese someone know where this is coming from?

As this is the solution but the link is not correct and I want to download only from skype site not from other shareware sites and from skype site I can only download the latest version foe windows.

No I haven't did any thing.
I just did a simple update of skype.[Note: I have also tried by first uninstalling the curent version of skype.]
Actually the problem is very critical with compact view. But with default view the browser's tab is open only once but for compact view browser's tab is open many times even on each mouseover making it impossible to use the skype.

Missing Effects Tab

My Effects Tab went missing from my Browser Window. I can get it back by selecting Windows>Effects, but it superimposes over and hides the Video Tab. How do I get it to return to its proper place alongside the Video Tab?

Grab the tab and drag it over next to the project tab in the browser till it highlights the browser.

CS6 app missing effects tab - help

I've called customer service twice and they have not been helpful at all.
My problem is that one of my effects tabs is missing in Premier Pro CS6, "camera view". Do I need to reinstall the app software for CS6 and if so, will that mess up all the things I've been editing up to this point? My platform:

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Theres no effects in effects tab at the top

There arent any effects in the effect tab at the top of affter effects it just has matte,last effect,remove effect and effect controls.

Well in my menu effects there is only effect controls,Last effect,remove all and matte. And whats the Render engine?

There are also 2 warning when i open up after effects:
Metadata browser is missing
You have at least one output module template that refers to a missing output plug-in. Please check your Output Module Templates.
It also try to install "file formats and effects" but never finishes and tell me to restart after effects for it to take effect but nothing happens and it start the process above again.
