Browser Fonts - only the letter A.

Since Mac Lion many browser fonts are only the letter A in a box. Which are the "A" depends on how much I zoom in or out.
How can I get the fonts to behave properly. Safari is the worst. Chome is bad and FirFox is almost OK.

Are you using two fonts managers? By that I mean another one other than the Font Book app that came with yur Mac?

Help - Inkwell transfers only the letter A into Remote Desktop.

I use Microsoft's remote desktop over a VPN to use my servers at work (terminal services). It works great in every aspect except when I try to write using inkwell. When I start to write with my stylus the yellow paper window opens and accepts my handwriting. Then it transfers only the letter A repeatedly into the text field within remote desktop (microsoft). If I write "Hello" it will come out as "Aaaaa". If I write "The Quick Brown Fox" it comes over as Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
Does anyone know why? Any Fix?

Is there a way to open the main browser when only the download window is open ?

Many times I have closed the browser by accident, or when to many windows are open and just cleaning up... normally this happens when a download is being done and then when trying to open the browser again it is not allowed for an instance is already running. Is there a way to open the browser back up just from the download window ?? This does cause the pausing and retry of the download of course, but when doing large files ... gigers, many times I have lost it completely, is there a way around this besides the obvious do not close ?

I know of no way to re-open Firefox in your case. However, you can set a preference that will give you a pop-up message when a download is in progress, then you have 2 options presented; continue with closing Firefox which will cancel the download or cancel closing Firefox and the download will continue. This way one last Firefox browser window remains open along with the download window.
To have Firefox warn you when a download is in progress and you choose File > Exit, change a preference:
#type '''about:config''' in the URL/location bar and press the Enter key
#if you see a warning, accept it (promise to be careful)
#Filter = browser.download.manager.quitBehavior
#right-click (OSX: Cmd+click) on that preference
#choose Modify
#enter a new value of 2
#click OK
#you may need to restart Firefox for the change to take effect

X1 Carbon - every kestroke results in the letter 'e' !!!

Well this was the most interesting thing brought to me today:
User comes up with a locked account. So I unlock it. Laptop says password incorrect, so I reset the password. Password still not accepted. So I go to login as another user to make sure the keyboard is ok, and no matter what key you strike, only the letter 'e' comes up!
Capital E also works.
Hit the windows button and the keys work fine.
Reboot fixed it - but Im stumped as to how this can come about. Will also be handy to know to prank people. haha
X1 20A7, X1 3443 and a Tab 8. Oh, plus some various T61's, T410s, T420s and a an old R40.

I agree. Is there any possibility that i lose any data excluding machine configuration or sth else on hard reset?

I found reset button, pressed it for a few seconds, nothing changed. Looks like I have to call the service and take advantage of the privilege of having valid warranty. Carbon passed military tests, failed first day with me, what a shame

The letter Q in the skia font is missing

The letter Q in the skia font is missing in Regular Black and Bold versions, how can i repair that?

I had the same issue, except it is only missing in regular bold. Unreal! Miraculously disappeared. I can actually type it, but it's invisible. I'm sure it's something like a corrupted file. Hopefully someone will come through.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

Find/Change won't let me load any fonts in the "Find Glyph:" tab

I'm trying to do a basic find/change to replace the " in a document. However when I try to choose a font family, the tab window is either grayed out or won't let me load the font I need, even though the font is loaded and active. It's very erratic; it will work fine with some files but not with others. Any ideas?

i have the same issue, will only let me find 1/2 fonts trying to do something similar by importing a word document and doing styling by find/change as the writer doesn't and wont use style sheets.

Movie rentals only lists titles through the letter "B"

My AppleTV works perfect with my movies, my tv shows, and my music - sync is a-ok. It's the rental movies that's the problem. When I view "HD Movies" for example, I scroll through the list of alphabetically sorted titles, only to find the list ends with the letter "B". Titles that start with "C" though "Z" simply aren't in the list.
I called Apple support but they couldn't figure it out - restart didn't help. AppleTV has been in place for a loooooong time, and I've never had this problem before. Sync works fine. Can get to YouTube videos so I know I can connect to the internet.
The problem is only when I connect to the iTunes store and browse through its movie list. Any ideas why I am not seeing the entire catalog of movies?

It seems that iTunes 9 is actually quite horrible. I can't find anything. Everything is capped at 200. You have to use the "browse" feature to find anything that is not on their lists. And you can't go back to where you were at when you leave "browsing" to look at something. You have to start all over. Somehow the "geniuses" at Apple have let this cap at 200 trickle into Apple TV. I, along with everyone else, have the same problem with the listings of HD movies, which is all I rent anyway. They don't seem to be in much of a hurry to fix it. I won't be renting much of anything through Apple TV. I know I can use iTunes but that is not the point. What is happening to Apple? I love everything "Mac" but lately they can't get much of anything right and are slowly driving me back to Windows.

What font? What system? What Glyph? What language settings? Could be anything. Either way, ask in the AI forum. You'll get quicker answers there - if you provide all the required info.

How can I close a remote front panel by closing only the browser window?

I control a remote front panel in a browser (from the client PC). If I don't use the 'close' - button in my program to end the remote front panel, but instead of this the 'x' of the browser window (in the right bottom corner), my program won't be close, it continues on the server. Do you know how to end a VI by closing only the browser windows?

My problem is, to end a VI by clicking on the x of the BROWSER window after I loaded and controlled a remote panel VI in a browser (e.g. IE).

When fonts are packaged, do these fonts only link up to the one InDesign file that was packaged?

I often work with InDesign client files that are different "versions" of the same file (the only change between these InDesign files maybe be a location name, but the rest of the file is the same (fonts, links, etc). So I'll have an InDesign file named as A version, one as B version, etc. When I open the A version of the file and package it for the printer, are those fonts (Document fonts) available to that specific InDesign file only? If I copy the other versions of InDesign files into that folder for the printer (rather than package each individual InDesign file, will those other InDesign files link to the collected Document folder? Or will I have to package each file separately?

Thanks for replying Steve. A man who worked at a press, told me that InDesign files always pulled fonts from the same folder first. My coworker thinks it's only the InDesign file that fonts were packaged for. Now I don't know for sure what he meant and I don't have a way to contact him again.
More experimentation on my part will be required and more packaging of files. Our Creative dept has 3 designers and when we work on each others files, there's always font issues unless the fonts have been packaged for each file. And don't get me started on Helveticas! Between system fonts, fonts used over the years, clients providing fonts... it's been a problem we've yet to solve... everyone using the same Helvetica font family.

I have got the same behaviour after the last Safari Update to 5.1.3. It seems that Safari now handles some scripts in a new way. If you debug the Google Website, you will see, that there is some Javascript Error, that seems to prevent to write into local cache. After some searching I wasn't able to finde a solution for this problem, other then disabling Javascript while private browsing to prevent the script loading. You then are able to use Google with the old layout. The option to disable JavaScript can be found in the Menu "Developer", wich has to be enabled in Safari in the options first.
In my opinion this is a bug that is now occuring, because Apple changed something in private browsing and that has to be fixed by Google now, to run again. Or we will have to wait for 5.1.4, as you can read online Apple will change and bugfix the javascript engine in that version, perhaps this fixes the problem as well. I hope so!
If anyone is in the developer program perhaps you could test this with the beta of 5.1.4 and tell us if it works.
