Browser Freeze on video clips

So ive recently have started having problems with my computer where i will be watching a video clip and after a random amount of time the video will just freeze then i my browser stops responding.  I have to use task manager to kill the browser and when i start surfing the web again i can do everything except watch videos.  The only way i have found to fix this problem is to reboot the computer and just hope that i can finish watching my show before it freezes again.  I very strongly believe that it is flash because it only does this whenever there is a video clip being played.  Ive also narrowed this down thinking that it was my computer registry or something so a few nights ago i did a format and then a clean install of windows 7 64 bit.  Ive read that sometimes it is the antivirus software that causes this so when i reinstalled my os i didnt install any virus protection yet, before i was using avg though.  I usually use firefox 3.6 when using the web but ive noticed that it crashes in IE and chrome.  Ive included a screen capture of my extensions and plug ins for firefox to help out, anything else you want to know you just ask.
Thanks for all your help in advance

Hi ae58,  you are the second person within the last couple of hours that recommended the Advanced System Care Registry Cleaner.
Adobe has the Uninstaller procedures and the Install procedures for the Flash Player. As long as users follow them,
they should not have any problem.
Using Registry Cleaners are a risk greater than any benefit unless one is an Advanced User or an expert. I have
read all of the Microsoft Engineers and Registry Experts and they do not recommend them at all. In fact they state that
beginning with XP and forward there is no need for them.
Additionally, Adobe has information about 3rd party "Flash Player" cleaners also. And it appears "In some cases these
tools can actually cause further Flash Player problems."
So, as I mentioned on another thread where Advanced System Care was suggested, we'll just see what the real issue is
with the person that took the time to start this thread.
Glad you didn't have any lasting damage using them though.
Regards,
eidnolb

  • Video Clip - computer freeze

What can I do to prevent my computer from freezing up when I begin to run a video clip in iphoto

    i photo 11 - -   9.2.1 (628)
I am not sure what operating system, and I don't see any place to readily see what the operating system is, but I bought the Mac computer a few months ago
Every once in a while iphoto says there was an error and that the database has to be repaired, but the repairs do not help.
I have a 8 gigabite PNY disc or chip (I am not sure what it is called) that goes into my Cannon camera that stores the data. The camera takes still shots and video. I have used it many times before and have downloaded and played pictures and video to iphoto before. This time, I took the disc and inserted it into the slot on the right hand side of the Mac.
When I ran the video clip at first it ran for a minute or two then froze the whole computer. I rebooted and tried it again with another couple video clips from the same disc and again it played for a minute or less then froze. Then I tried to play another couple video clips from another event that I downloaded a month ago and it also froze up the computer right away. Then I tried to play a video clip off a Safari website and it played fine.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am not particularly computer savy, as I am sure you can tell.
    Thanks.

  • How can I get video clips to play in a browser?

Scenario:  A client visits my Web site.  A shockwave movie plays automatically.  It contains a video clip.  When the SW movie encounters the frame containing the movie clip, it simply skips over it and continues.  The video never plays.  I have tried avi, windows media, mpeg and quicktime with the same results.
I have found that the video plays fine as long as I open the director movie with Director.  But when I open it with a browser, the video clip does not play.  I have tried Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.
Does someone know what I am missing to make the video play in a browswer?
    Thanks.
    Dewey

Presumably you have code to stop the playhead from moving while the video plays? You might want to post it.
If you are testing this locally, you need a folder named "dswmedia" somewhere in the path or linked content, like your video file, won't be found. Check the docs for more details.

  • Managing Video Clips and HD Storage; Psychedelic stripes when iMovie freezs

I have read the posts on subj, but wanted to clarify the ff:
As someone suggested, good idea to save the original clips and just copy/paste them into timeline so that i can edit them as much as I want. Have done so but obviously taking up much space. Once I complete with my Project (but have NOT shared it yet with iDvd NOR imported them into iDVD):
    1) can i now delete all the original clips in the Clips Pane? (it wont be like iPhoto where after deleting the pix, the pix are lost from the Books, or other projects?)
    2) how do i save the original clips in the Clips Pane to a DVD. Do i use Export on iMovie? Or do i use Import from iDVD?
    3) if I am working on several Projects, say Project 1 and Project 2, but want to use the Clips from Clips Pane in Project 1 in Project 2, how do I do that? In other words, can I make iMovie Project 1 as the repository of all my imported video clips (but not make any movie from it), then use those clips for iMovie Project 2, 3, 4 etc....... and how do I do that?
    4) Further to #3, say I really wanted to end up with just one movie - say Europe Trip, but because I wanted to work on more manageable file sizes, I split them up so I have Project 1 say Paris, Project 2 say Italy etc. fearing that iMovie cannot handle too big file sizes. I was thinking of consolidating them all thru iDVD but what I expect would happen is that since I make chapters on iMovie, once I import Paris Project and Italy Project into one movie in iDVD, I will end up having two chapters or Chapter 1, two of Chapter 2, etc. Is there a way of avoiding that?
I suppose you an guess at my current predicament. My file sizes are just getting bigger and I have the same clips on Project 1 as I have in Project 2 and 3 when they all actually pertain to the same Europe trip that I want to make One movie on.
Finally iMovie often freezes on me and then the whole picture in the screen becomes one big colored zig zag stripes. I cannot playback or do other commands. The only way to get rid of it is if I reboot my iMac. I didnt have this problem before on my MBP. Could it be bec of Leopard in my iMac?
Thanks in advance to whoever responds.
    Cheers
    Raissa

It really shouldn't take very long to load video clips. It might take a long time to generate thumbnails the first time through, but from then on, it is lightning quick, because you are only shooting a few movies between times you open imovie.
While I haven't had the problem you describe, some other people have reported a similar problem.
Imagine a scenario where iMovie generates all the thumbnails and caches that it needs, but is unable to save them to disk. In this case, when you restart iMovie the next time, it would have to start from scratch and generate all the thumbnails again. This would certainly slow things down.
That scenario could happen if your disk permissions are in need of repair. You can repair permissions by using Disk Utility, which is in your Applications/Utilities folder. It is a good idea to repair permissions periodically, and certainly every time you update OSX.
I repair permissions every night as part of a script that runs when I do an unattended SuperDuper backup late at night. This is probably overkill, but at least I never have to worry about it.
Personally, I have several terabytes of movies in iMovie, and everything runs quickly. Most of my events are camcorder movies which are stored in iMovie. However, I have hundreds of short clips taken by still cameras, and I leave these in iPhoto.

  • Why is my DVD project freezing when a video clip plays?

    Hi -
I have a simple Encore(CS5 Mac) project that is that is "stalling" when played.
The content of the DVD is made from an After Effects(CS5.5 Mac) project so I think I should provide information on that.  The 30sec AE project is mostly timeline animation until the last 6 seconds which is video footage.   The 7 second video clip is scaled way down from it's original dimensions and then masked off to fit in an area of the AE stage.
I rendered the AE project to a QT MOV with No compression.  In this format it was a very large file (939MB) but it played flawlessly in Quicktime on my desktop.
Then I brought that MOV into Encore as a timeline, added a one button menu,  and burned a DVD.
The prpoject plays fine until that video comes on. At that instant - the picture freezes for a few seconds - then plays for a second and then freezes again.  It does this stop and go until the video ends and then the DVD returns to the simple opening menu.
It seems to choke at the same time each time I replay it but I can't be 100% sure.  It's almost as if the disc actually stops spinning.
Why would the DVD freeze when the video content of my DVD project played?  What can I do to fix this?
    TIA some expert advice.
    JL

While I am familiar with the brand name, Imagtion, I do not know what their business model is. Some companies, like Memorex buy the cheapest blank media of that day, and rebrand it, with their logo. Others do the same thing. Poor quality blank media can cause all sorts of issues, such as hanging and skipping - hence my question.
I would do a test burn with high-quality blank media, such as Falcon, Taiyo-Yuden or Verbatim, and then burn about 4x on the speed. Test to see if that disc plays, without the skipping and hangling.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can a YouTube video clip be opened in the Firefox browser, so it is the only thing visible?

Watching a concert in YouTube is nice, but small, so it would be nice to only open the video clip in the browser without the comments and other video clips in offer, so it is easier to see more en detail, even though it is not gone into full screen.

Tap the ESC key to return your Firefox window to normal mode with the tabs (when in video full screen mode).
Alternately, you can download and save the video to your hard drive, then open a separate video player and play the video which will not interfere with your current browsing, if you are just listening to a concert. You can switch back and forth between Firefox and the video player by clicking the appropriate icon in your Windows task bar.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • I am hoping to view a video clip, but I need to download Flip4mac onto my Safari browser. I cannot see where I access safari preferences on ipad to do this. Any help please - thanks Douglas

I need to download a video clip called Flip4mac onto my Safari browser, which will then enable me to view it. I cannot see where I access safari preferences on my ipad to do this.
Any help please - thanks Douglas

The video may be a Flash video. Adobe has not made, and will not make, Flash for mobile devices including the iPad. So you may not ever be able to view the video.

    Hi
    My guess
    • free space on Start-Up Hard disk too low.
    • iMovie pref. file - needs to be trashed
    • the movie material to be Imported - are in a Video-Codec iMovie can not use
Does any of these apply ?

  • Video clips freeze and green screen after updating Toshiba PC health

I recently responded to a message from my PC Health monitor utility to download and update software. After doing this I can no longer watch video clips on line (e.g. youtube clips freeze and picture goes green and internet freezes becomes unresponsive requiring shut down restart.
I have tried downloading intel graphics drivers but get a message that says this app can't be run on the PC, seek info from manufacturer?
    Can you help please?

Thanks for getting back to me and apologies - of course I should have provided better detail in my original post. I am not sure on the detail of the driver I updated but I THINK it was the Reltek one?
Laptop model is Satellite C850 and part number is PSC8WA-05D001 I have tried to download the graphics and audio drivers from your site. When I do though, download goes really well until the last 2 % and then it freezes?
I got it to complete by pausing the download and restarting it but then when I go to run it two things happen. 1. I get a Windows message saying something to the effect that it is not a recognized app an d a read more link. Clicking on the read more link gives me a chance to choose "run anyway" but then I either get "this app can't run on your PC, check with software publisher".
Other driver apps seem to get ready to run with a program window headed TSS_Setup.exe but an error message then appears in red "error occurred in reading archive. [121]

  • I DRAG AND DROP A VIDEO CLIP FROM THE EVENT BROWSER THAT IS 7.9 SECONDS INTO MY IMOVIE I'VE STARTED AND IT CHANGES IN THE PROJECT TO 4.9 SECONDS - HOW CAN I KEEP THE LENGTH THE SAME

I drag a video clip from Event to Project into my imovie I've started.  The video clip length changes from 7.9 seconds to 4.9 seconds. How can I stop that length from being changed?

If you are using transitions either side of the clip they will use some of the clip to generate the effect, there isn't anything you can do unless you remove or shorten the transition.
If you aren't using transitions it may be that you are only selecting part of the clip in the event window, try dragging out the yellow frame to include all the video you want in the project.

  • Video clips keep freezing?

When I try to view video clips online via email or Facebook the clips keep stopping and starting.
    How can I fix this?

Most likely the problem is caused by the Flash plugin.
Uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin before reinstalling.
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
