... but a click will awake it.
mouse moves around ok, but screen is dead until clicked.
had this issue with chrome, and IE, so tried firefox hoping it was different.
it freezes after 10 - 30 secs even mid-typing, has done it twice since typing this message, it just stops working an 'beeps' with a key stroke.
windows 7, all up to date.
help!

As a diagnostic to see whether Flash might be to blame, could you try setting Flash to Click-to-Play ("Ask to Activate")? This will delay Flash from starting on a page until you approve it.
To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
Not a solution, but might help us better understand the source of the issue.

  • Dreamweaver CC suddenly (yesterday) stopped viewing web pages via F12 key.  the browser opens but times out on all browsers now

I have been running Dreamweaver since 2008 (CS).  I have a server on the local network that I save my work on and remotely connect to it via a mapped network drive W while in Dreamweaver.  When Dreamweaver starts it loads via the site the mapped drive contents.  It shows the files and folders of clients I am currently working on.  Up until yesterday I was able to open a folder in Dreamweaver CC, work on a file and to view it in a browser, I would of course save the current changes and press the F12 key to bring up the browser and display the web page in full screen view.  I never used the live view button on the Dreamweaver menu before, I only pressed the F12 key to see the browser in full screen and display the html page.
However since yesterday when I press the F12 key any of my browsers (Firefox 29.01, Internet Explorer 11, Opera (latest), Safari (latest)  and Chrome (latest) only open and Time Out.
I am running Windows 8.1 update
I am running Adobe Cloud CC for my Adobe Products
    Attempted Fixes to date:
    I have searched online forums
I have uninstalled Dreamweaver CC and re installed it
I again uninstalled and reinstalled Dreamweaver CC and deleted the profile settings
I have contacted Adobe support but they said the F12 key worked so cannot help any more
I still have the same problem.
The only way to view these files in a browser is to right click the file and select open with and select the browser to check it with.
Can anybody help me as I have been running my current set up since 2008 without any issues.

Can you verify that the shortcut key is assigned properly for browser preview here:
If it isn't, Click the last option 'Edit Browser List' > edit the settings in the preferences tab:
This will ensure that your keyboard shortcut is mapped properly.
If the setting in 1st screenshot shows the shortcut properly, but still isn't loading, you could try trashing your cache: Deleting a corrupted cache file
Let us know how it goes.

  • Unable to restart, MBP freezes 9 times out of 10

My MBP freezes on start up or rebooting. I have tried zapping PRAM.Ran disc repair utility and disc is ok. The MacBook Pro Firmware update 1.0 installs but on restart the firmware fails to update as the computer freezes. Is there any solution? At my wits end. No software changes recently. Startup freezes have only been an increasing problem over the last 5 days. Now the computer is consistently freezing. Could it be Norton antivirus? Any hope?

Hi, Lauren. Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your hard drive is just way too full to function properly.
Check and see if you may have one or more Previous System folders on the iBook. If so, delete them and empty the Trash, and see if that gets you some breathing room.
You need to keep at least 15% of the total capacity of the hard drive as available space for proper functioning of the drive.
Here is a link to an article which gives some pointers on freeing up space:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html
Also, the warranties on a hard drive are usually three years, so if the hard drive is the original one, it's likely running on borrowed time. Are you keeping a current backup in case that drive fails? If not, you need to be doing that.

  • LMS 3.2 SP1 - Syslog Report times out / CW14: NO HTTP response

    Hi,
in Device Center I can´t start the Syslog Report, it opens a new Browser window and times out.
If I start the "Device Troubleshooting" from the Device Center, all checks are successful. Just the check "Syslog Message" show the error: CW14: NO HTTP response from Servername
    I have LMS 3.2 SP 1 installed
I already re set the System Identity User and restarted the daemon, no success.
What should I check? Is it a known problem ?

  • Videos (flash) freezes several times a minute for a few seconds but audio continues fine. Normal browsing also freezes the same way.

After watching more than one video (for example, on YouTube) my browser will "freeze" for several seconds. This happens about 3 or 4 times per minute while:
    * watching another video, the video will freeze for several seconds, while audio keeps playing
    * browsing other NON-video websites, the browser freezes for several seconds
    * scrolling down a long web page the browser will freeze for several seconds; since I'm in the middle of scrolling, when it stops freezing I'm somewhere completely random on the page instead of being able to just smoothly scroll through the page
The only way I can get the freezing to stop is by closing down the entire browser (losing all of the sites I may have open for research, other videos I might have queued up to watch, etc.)
As you can well imagine, this is whole encounter is totally frustrating and annoying, and is making me want to try to find a better browser. I see that MANY, MANY other people have been having this problem, and yet I am still unable to find an actual solution. This was NOT happening before the last FireFox update.

    Disable hardware acceleration.
    Perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]

  • IPad Browser seems to Disconnect/time out after Auto Lock

After iPad auto locks, it seems like the browser (Safari and Chrome have both been tested) disconnects or times out. When I unlock the iPad, the pages need to reload or re-establish a connection - and because of the apparent disconnect I am forced to log back into the web page I was on. How can I prevent this disconnect so I can utilize ipads easily in my office? It's so much easier than lugging around a laptop from client to client.
Background: I utilize a few iPads for my business. My EMR software is web based, which means I can use anything with a browser (ipad, laptop, desktop, etc) to log in and use the program. The program itself has an auto log off at 60 minutes, but on my iPads we don't make it that long. We will log into the web site, begin our day but need to set down the iPad when working with clients which can take 20 minutes or more. Our iPads auto lock for security reasons. When we unlock the iPads to continue working, the browser has to, essentially, re-establish a connection to the site - so it is not maintaining an active connection in that browser.  The only thing I have found that helps is disabling the auto lock but that is unacceptable as a long term solution.
It's not the program or the programs site - my laptops work fine as long as I disable hibernation. If it were my network, both laptops and ipads would have the same issue when the wifi signal was lost. What's more, it will happen on other pages - like my bank site or even shopping.
So how can I keep the browser's connection active even when auto locked?
    Thanks!

    Reset your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Browser time out

When returning to my Mcc (pc is idle). Browser (Safari or Chrome) time out.  Only fix seems to reboot Mac. Seems to have only occurred for the past month (perhaps after latest patch update??)

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If nothing above helped, try this DNS server.
Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
    Click + and type:
    208.67.222.222
Click + again and do the same.
    208.67.220.220
Click OK. Quit and relaunch Safari.

  • Why does it freeze every time i download something??

it never did this before until i updated to 12.0. now every time i try to download something the whole browser freezes up and i have to restart it. i already deleted the download.pdf or whatever file its called in my profiles and it still does it. it's annoying. how do i fix this?

Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers].
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/].
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

  • Internet Browser freezes computer

Just recently when we use any Internet browsers: Safari or Firefox, our computer freezes up every time you minimize the main browser window or a small window closes.
I have reinstalled the operating system and that didn't seem to help. I also have 1GB of ram, so I know that isn't the problem either. Please help!
    Thanks

Okay, so I am deciding it isn't my internet. It just was strangely related to the fact that it would randomly freeze when I'd open the internet.
The complete reinstall I am declaring unsuccessful, because during the uninstall it decided to freeze several times. I've never had that happen to me before. Finally I just let it sit "frozen" for a few hours, but it ended up only being like 45 minutes before it restarted itself and played the welcome video.
Odd? I'd say, yes. But then it froze during the video a bunch of times, and I was never able to get an admin account created. Of course, the interesting part was that the music continued to play. Only at one point the music started repeating itself like a broken record instead of fading out. However, numerous times more I tried restarting and watching the video and it froze on the video, but the music continued flawlessly in the background.
SO I am summing it up to a possible hardware problem on my MBP. I would guess it is the graphics card or something internal that I couldn't fix myself.
    Any ideas?

  • Surfing randomly times out

I have been experiencing an irritating issue, and I don't know the exact cause. I'm not sure if it's BM or my ISP. The issue is: You can be surfing along from page to page and all of a sudden, it stops. If you wait about 30-40s, you get this error:
    Status : 504 Gateway Time-Out
Description : Lost connection to origin server.
Note : If necessary, please contact your Systems Administrator for resolution.
    or
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
    Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
    What you can try:
    Diagnose Connection Problems
    More information
You can then click "refresh" and the page comes up with no problem and you can continue surfing until it happens again. If you try to open a new tab (IE7) it just sits there with the icon in the tab spinning until it times out. Most of the time, if you close the browser and reopen it, you can continue surfing if you remember where you were. This is a pain if you have multiple tabs open to different sites. Sometimes, IE7 will just freeze so that you cannot open new tabs at all. (That's usually if you click too much after it stalls.)
Does anybody know what could be happening?
    I'm running NW6.5sp7 and BM3.8sp4.
    Thanks in advance.
