Browser has no address bar

I just got my Sony tablet a few days ago.
Initially, the browser worked fine. Now I just see the body of the browser--not the address bar.
Is there a way to restore this--or do I do a reset?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

If you are using the browser which came with the tablet, you probably turned on "Quick controls" under "Labs" in the browser settings.
Solution:
1. Try to tap and hold anywhere on the edge of the screen.
2.A "Blue disc" with buttons should appear w/ fwd & back buttons etc
3. The globe icon will bring up the address bar
Note: to turn off this option and go back to a plain browser look. press the icon with the 3 dashes and click on settings>Labs and uncheck "Quick Controls"
I hope this fixes your problem, if not I would suggest a soft reset, or email Sony directly.

  • Open Browser with No Address Bar from Java

How to open a IE Browser from Java with no address bar, tool bar etc ?
I am able to open browser like the listed code, but the requirement for me is it has to open with no "Address Bar", buttons.
I know we can do that in "Javascript" but how to or is there a way to do that in java/swing.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    String WIN_FLAG = "url.dll,FileProtocolHandler";
    String WIN_PATH = "rundll32";
    String url = "www.google.com"
    String cmd = WIN_PATH + " " + WIN_FLAG + " " + url;
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd );

Use javascript for this. I would do it this way....
You can decide with JS if you want tot hide so elements from your browser. Should not be very difficult to implement

  • Where, O where, has my address bar gone? (And how do I get it back?)

My location bar has disappeared. There is only the search bar. I want two separate bars, not one. How do I get back my location bar?

You have the Classic Theme Restorer extension and that makes the Navigation Toolbar work differently.
You can check the settings of this extension in its Options/Preferences in Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.
It is also possible to hide the Navigation Toolbar when CTR is installed and enabled.
Make sure all toolbars are visible.
    *"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
*View > Toolbars<br>Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
    *Right-click empty toolbar area
Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
*if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup
You can try to delete the xmlstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Version 29: Address bar is filled with static Firefox icons. Unable to type URL in address bar.

I've never seen this before and cannot find a solution in support or in a general Google search.
We have a user who has an address bar filed with static Firefox icons (there is a screen shot if there is any way to provide that). If the user clicks on them, they go nowhere (they shouldn't be there anyway, right?). This user is unable to type anything into the address bar, either. Not certain if there was an auto-update to version 29 overnight or not, but Firefox was uninstalled a fresh version of 29 installed - the reasoning being it might have been an installation issue. The issue still remains. This user is not having the same issue with Chrome. Have not tried reproducing it with any other browser on that machine. Have not heard any complaints from other users in the office using version 29.
Is there some setting that is being overlooked with version 29? Is it a bug? Should we try installing version 28 and see if it's a versioning issue or perhaps something else? Trying to eliminate possible issues and move onto the next set of solutions.
    Thanks,

Note that you can find an RSS feed icon in the Customize palette (3-bar Firefox menu button).

  • I have no address bar or awesome bar and no previous or back button

Just upgraded to 4.0 as it was offered. top section has no address bar or awesome bar as you call it and there it no arrow for previous page or back button. I feel helpless.

If you are running Firefox 3.6+, hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

  • The loading bar at the bottom of my browser has disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the lastest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP.

The loading bar at the bottom of my Firefox browser has suddenly disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the latest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP. I have many add ons and I usually automatically install the recommended updates. This problem has never happened before and switching my browser on and off again does not solve the issue.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I am not sure why this suddenly happened. I think it may have been after my usual updates but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it at all.

Loading Bar? Maybe the URL/address bar where you type sites you want to go to (like www.google.com)? See Navigation Bar below. You may also need to see the first item "Can't see the Menu Bar".
<u>'''Can't see the Menu Bar'''</u> (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)?
Turning the Menu Bar on and off is a new feature in version 3.6.

<u>''Windows'' Method 2.</u> Press and release the key. The Menu Bar will be displayed; then choose ~~red:V~~iew > ~~red:T~~oolbars and click on ~~red:M~~enu Bar.
The Menu Bar should now be displayed permanently, unless you turn it off again using View > Toolbars. Check mark = displayed, NO check mark = not displayed.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Menu+bar+is+missing

  • I no longer have any toolbars, address bar or any access to any usual functions. How can I restore these functions in my browser?

All functions are gone from the top of my browser - no menu bar, no tool bars of any kind, no address bar... nothing. Right click or left click - nothing to use. How can I restore these common functions?

'''F11''' to get you out of FullScreen mode?
If you hid the Menu bar and the Navigation bar - hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

  • When changing "browser.newtab.url" is there any way to prevent the address bar from getting focus?

When I change "browser.newtab.url" to about:home and open a new tab, focus is set to the address bar not the search box on the firefox home page. The same thing happens if i change the url to google.com or another search engine. Is there any way to prevent this from happening.

Custom new Tab has a small bug if the start page is exactly the same as the new tab page. Then the focus of the start page is on the address bar. Just leave the "www." out in the startpage and use "www." in the new tab page then it works perfectly. e.g.
    Startpage: google.com
    new Tab page : www.google.com
Now the focus of the start page is on the search box.

Sounds like your are in Full Screen Mode. Tap the F11 key to turn Full Screen Mode on or off. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Netbooks#Full_screen
The Firefox button has replaced the Menu Bar (''File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help''). You can display the Menu Bar in place of the Firefox button '''''OR''''' you can '''''temporarily''''' display the Menu Bar and make selections from it while the Firefox button is on:
*To '''''temporarily''''' display and use the Menu Bar, press the ALT or F10 key and make your selections from the Menu Bar.

  • Firefox doesn't delete the browsing history in the address bar

No matter what you do with Firefox in clearing the browsing history by going to History -> Clear Recent History and deleting everything or resetting FF by going to Troubleshooting information, Firefox doesn't delete the browsing history. The website you have browsed still appear in the address bar.
Several people already have complained about this issue (see thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/939028) and the answer from the Firefox staff is that there is got to be a malware. This is not true, I've seen versions of Firefox in clean computers both Windows and Mac with Firefox doing the same thing, or more like not doing what it's supposed to do: clean the browsing history.
How unsafe is that. Where is your privacy? Firefox has to find a way to fix this glitch. Something tells me they're doing it on purpose because it hasn't been fixed after the complains.

You can delete the places.sqlite file if you aren't able to clear all history.

  • Short URL in the browser address bar

Hi we are using Robo Help product. we launched it on Apache Tomcat server.
When we publish a project in an area and try to view that, the URL in the address bar is displayed very long with % characters and other junk.
can anyone please let me know how to customize the URL? a user friendly URL in place of the long URL. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Colum,
can you please explain these 2 points from  your posts. I am very new to Robohelp so I am not able to understand  some of these terms
    1. When  the help is called (e.g. through an API call) the end user sees a much  shorter URL along the lines of what Mayank has provided.
    2.  If  you are wanting to shorten the actual URL that is returned by your  browser, why would you want to? I wouldn't even go there as it will  depend on the browser being used.
I  am attaching the screenshot which explains you clearly about my  requirement in a sequence.
1 st screenshot shows you the login screen
2nd screenshot shows the projects window where in if we click on that displays the projects
3rd screenshot shows the project 'CCC' and when we click on View Project opens 4th screenshot
If you see the URL in screenshot it contains lot of % characters and other junk. I want a user friendly URL in place of that. can you please help me? I have to put this in place Friday, anyhelp on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for looking into this.

  • Browser's helpful URL address bar is not actually ...

In context to S60's default browser. When you start browser, it takes you to deafult Bookmarks page with URL address bar at the bottom of the screen. And there is pretyped URL http://www. to make life easier where we can starting typing main part of the web address.
This is actually not helpful because -
    1) most of the web sites we visit from mobile starts with m. or mobile.
    2) many mail sites start with mail.
    3) and for all those websites which starts with www. can start without even mentioning www (as this has becom norm these days e.g., nokia.com, hotmail.com, ovi.com etc).
Lets visit mobile.xyz.com. Since there is no direct way to go to URL address bar (except long way of going through Options), you type random character on the keyboard, this character gets typed in the bar and cursor is finally there, hit backspace 5 times and then you are ready to type the actual URL.
What nokia should do is change pretyped URL to just http://
Don't you think this is a common sense?
Message Edited by willstay on 11-Dec-2009 10:54 AM

    I agree with you.
It is very confused some time.
Blackbery solved same problem easy. when u open browser default string http://www is already typed and if u pres backspace key (like delete or "C") it will delete www string only. hope nokia will find some solution for it in future

  • HTC One Stock Browser - address bar and Flash player issues

Couple of issues here -- please let me know if I'm missing something obvious.  First of all, since the HTC One only has the Home and Back buttons, I count on the application to know when to open a Settings screen or even an address bar.  Point that browser at YoutTube or Google+ and tell me how you get back to the address bar.  I've found that hitting Back may bring up the address bar, but you'd better be quick about it.
Second, the Flash player doesn't seem to work with some sites.  I can play a YouTube video with the stock browser, but it won't play an NPR sound clip.  Thoughts?  Ideas?  What obvious thing am I missing?

First, Flash Player isn't supported anymore. If you have it installed through sideloading, it isn't guaranteed to work all the time.
As for the stock browser, have you tried scrolling to the top of the website to get the address bar to show. I don't have any other ideas since I purposely disabled the stock browser and use Chrome instead. Perhaps you should consider the same.
