Browser Issues that make the Z10 Garbage!!!

I've been a Blackberry fan ever since, and when the z10 came out, i was all over it. Until i started using it and getting use it. Updated it, first of all it get hot which just kills the mood of using a BB. But know, i go on a site, and it doesnt open an external link, it loads and goes back to the same FLIPPING page!!! Of all phones, this is the phone that should have no issues with other links and opening links in the browser. Most of the options are missing, when you hold a link, it the side bar opens then when i release to choose something from side bar, they both disappear. but if i continue to hold for a link the side bar pops up, but then if i coninually hold and move my hand to the left, both link and side bar disappear.. UGGHHHHHH.. ITS SOOO ANNOYING!!!

Sorry to hear that you feel that way, I agree with Arsen this is one of the best browser out, specially best browser that Blackberry has came out with!

So after looking a bit closer i have noticed that when i have the phone plugged into the computer it shows the songs but when i dont have it plugged in and i go so the song icon on the bottom of the music menu screen it says i have no songs!

My server keeps telling me that I have an update for 10.10.1 and that I should look for it in the app store. I do that and am not finding anything that makes the update notification go away. I have installed an update the app store says I need.

I updated to Yosemite on my Mac mini/server. Then my server wouldn't work. I updated and bought the software needed when updating to Yosemite. The server seems to be working. Subsequently I've started getting a notification on the server icon that an update is needed. When i look for details I'm instructed to go to the app store. I've done that. In the updates category no update is found by the app store system. I then went to the purchases category and was informed I needed to install the server software I'd purchased. While I'd installed before, I did it again. I still have the 1 in a red circle covering part of the server icon. I have restarted the mac mini. I can't figure out what step I'm missing. The continued presence of the red circle suggests that the software still isn't installed. Looked into restarting the server in help but don't find clear instructions that make sense. Suggestions from someone who has a mac mini server and has worked with this topic would be greatly appreciated. General comments from anyone who has not looked at this kind of problem before might turn out to be unenlightening for this neophyte.

I tried turning the computer off and then back on. The alerts don't show the notice to update as resolved. Hopefully this is not a problem or an indicator or another problem. Should I ignore or reload 10.10.1 from the app store to trigger a resolved check in a green circle?
Interesting that I had to buy server software after my free Yosemite download. I would have hoped that the two pieces of software would have gone together without any complication. It is not positive to end up buying a problem. Ah well, time to move on.

Finding a bumper (stinger?) that makes the right statement

I am taking a break from listening to hundreds of 5 to 7 second long audio clips trying to find just the right beginning to go with my employer's logo for a telecommunications technical training series. I have the graphic design from the company web site, and I have separated the text and the logo on to different layers of a Photoshop file. I will probably keep it simple, but I can always take it into After Effects if I can't get what I want in Premiere Pro.
Finding the right audio is turning out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be. Before I started the search, I thought I had a general idea of what I was looking for. Something a bit cinematic, like a dramatic start to a trailer. But having listened to so many already, I can barely remember what I had in mind to begin with. I don't think I am going to use a music bed under the voiceover. No real point to that.
I would like something complementary to go at the end of each training video, so that makes it even harder. They really have to complement each other. Which eliminates some of the ones I rather liked.
By the time I am done, I will have spent more time on the first five seconds and the last five seconds, than on the entire middle part of the first few videos combined.
Oh well. Back to my search.

Yes. I started working on the text and images for the first lesson. And the script. And for now, I have a bit of audio I can use if nothing better comes along.
The first lesson is about an acronym that people in my business use every day, but I recently discovered that not everyone has a clue as to what it actually means or what it looks like. The acronym is MPOE which stands for Minimum Point Of Entry. It is where the telephone company drops the circuit in the building for the customer to use. I used Premiere Pro for the Intro but I am using After Effects to provide the text for my voiceover. Nothing fancy, but you know how After Effects is. You start out simple and then there is always something a little better, and a little better, and you finally have to stop.
I have to keep fighting with myself. I don't want to spend a lot of time getting fancy. I did take the time to call up a color wheel so that the color of the text complements the color of the logo. Nether of which are particularly attractive colors.
This is my first pass at a simple intro. The purple text is actually a title in the lesson specific project not a part of the basic intro. Like I said, nothing fancy, but this stuff is going to be played on a laptop or office desktop. Not on a HDTV.
I took a different track and went with a sound effect instead of music. I don't know if I will keep it, but I might. I just want something recognizable that people will associate with my tutorials.
The goal is to put together a bunch of tutorials and release them once or twice per week along with a BLOG post. So I will probably get at least two done before I release the first one. That way I can put a teaser in the first one about what I am going to talk about in the second one. A new BLOG requires a way to get people to return. And as boring as the topic might seem to you, if you heard the acronym every day, you would probably be inclined to watch the lesson. You know?
I kind of like the little pop as the topic shows up on the screen. As I said, just something to make it easily identifiable as one of mine.

Any updates that make the volume louder?

I don't know if it's just my ears, but it seems that the volume on my Macbook is becoming lower of the the time I've had it (3-4 months) Are there any updates available that increase the volume?

No - just make sure you have all the regular/required updates by launching the 'Software Update...' function that is under the Apple Icon (upper left of your screen).
If you're certain that your sound is diminishing (the volume on the Macbook is barely adequate as it is) then I suggest stopping by your Apple Tech/Store and maybe bringing your Macbook along to compare with the other models.

How do I turn off the automatic full screen feature that makes the top bar (with the minimize buttons) disappear?

I just downloaded Firefox 4 on a Dell laptop with WinXP. When I'm in a browser window the window resizes automatically and the bar at the top (with the minimize, full and close buttons) disappears. When I drag the cursor up to the top the window resizes again and that top bar appears. Makes me crazy. How do I turn it off?

I'm not aware of the behavior you're describing. I've never seen it, and just tested it for myself. I cannot get windows to zoom to full screen just from moving them to or along the top of the screen. Is this only happening in Photoshop? If so, it may be a Photoshop issue. If not, have you installed any kind of third-party software that might be doing that? Try rebooting in safe mode and see if the problem persists then. If it doesn't, but comes back when you reboot normally, the problem is caused by some third-party software you have installed.

An iTunes library issue that needs the brightest of minds..

I've searched through all of the threads pertaining to this issue and i've yet to find a solid, good answer. Basically, I have a macbook pro retina machine with 250 GB. I have over 100 movies purchased in iTunes as well as multiple TV shows that if I were to attempt to download onto my local disk the shear size would make my HDD .
I have a 1TB external drive and am just wanting to make hard copies of all of my videos and music on my external. Is there a specific way to use my external disk to not only backup my computer via time machine, but to also use it to backup all of my videos and music. I don't mind watching all of my content via the iCloud but I'm having difficulties creating a library on my external and then using that to download all of my movies. As I can't download all of them on my local disk and then transfer a copy, I need to figure out a way to set up my library on the external disk and then download everything to the external. Do you guys know of any way to do this?
Just to clarify my questions to you powers at be:
1. I need to set up a library on my external drive that I can download all of my media to.
2. I want to still be able to use itunes on my macbook and just watch all of my media/music on the icloud
3. Can I still use the same drive that has all of my backed up media as a backup through time machine as well?
I've scoured all of the forums and really all I could find was how to set up libraries on an external disk. None of them ever mention whether or not I can basically use my itunes library locally however I want, knowing that everything I've ever bought is backed up on my external. Any help would be amazing. I appreciate it guys!

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
Yes, that's probably what you've seen before but it is how you put your library on an external drive and use it from there.
Note, having your iTunes library on the external drive and having that as your backup drive means you don't really have a true backup. You do for minor issues but one of the most common reasons the have a backup is if a drive is stolen or fails. In yur case if your external is stolen both your original and backup will be gone. You really need a second external drive.

What is it that makes the Downloads dock icon bounce?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a script?
And more importantly: can I copy the behavior with other dock icons?

I had no other way to get in touch other than post on this thread. I would like to discuss with you an archived thread you started concerning the Pirelli router, WDS, and Airport Express.
I am in Athens as well and have a similar issue. So far, I am concluding that the Pirelli WDS protocol is different than the Apple. I cannot seem to solve the problem of extending the network using an Airport as a remote access point. Can you advise?

I have a virus or spyware that makes the links in my gmail email go to a totaly different site

I'm hoping someone has heard of this, every time i click a link in gmail email it takes me somewhere completely different, nothing is picked up with antivirus or malwarebytes i also can't just copy the link location and insert the link in another tab. This is extremely frustrating! thanks

If you paste the link in the address bar can you see whether it is modified from the expected link, or does the redirection occur ''after'' Firefox requests the page?

Why does Adobe keep releasing updates for Acrobat that make the PDF print option diasappear?

I am really disappointed that after installing an update to Acrobat 9 my PDF printer has disappeared from my printer list.
This is the second time this has happened. The last time this happened Adobe were still supporting Acrobat 9 and they ended up having to remote in to my machine to fix it.
Now I have to pay if i want that level of support!!! It begs the question why they release these destructive updates. Is it to force people to upgrade to X or purchase support.

FaceTime used to work, now it will not- any suggestions with issues that changed the functioning of it? I cannot trash it and when I try to purchase another app for it, it says I have the newer version

I downloaded the FaceTime app to my macbook pro- it worked great. All of a sudden, it won't allow me to log in with my apple ID, won't advance to the next screen.
I tried to trash it, won't let me.

thanks for your reply. I tried this without success. My apple ID is fine- I verified it and it works. I sign in and it takes me to the page saying "NEXT" but when I click on that, it takes me back to the sign in page. My contacts all disappeared. And I cannot open the FaceTime Preferences pane- is grey and Not able to be clicked on to open. My apple ID works but my FaceTime will not.

How to make mac address gmail contacts overwrite the ones on my HTC Android phone - I don't want to sync - that makes the phone scramble and overwrite my computer. I want to remove or correctly overwrite the phone information as I have done with iPad.

Please help - I am beginning to hate google, my android and gmail. I have just wasted about 5 hours in a futile attempt to try and get my current Mac contacts list on my computer updated to my phone. I'm not that computer literate but I have looked up about google phone accounts, vCards, backing up contact lists, what SD on phones are, and God know what else. I have searched the internet and tried all sorts of things and I still have a mac with a now correct contact list (after the iPad contacts scrambled it and I spent ages manually correcting them all) and a phone with an outdated contact list. If you try and sync them the phone wants to overwrite the computer one just like the iPad did (would it be so **** hard to give you a choice on the phone as to which overwrites which!). After all the advice on the internet failed, I got the bright idea to completely delete all the ones on the phone and if it was empty of contacts the computer one could be exported to it. Not as simple as it sounds. First I backed up (I think) my computer contacts list. Numerous futile attempts to go through the phone options to globally delete all contacts did not work - they gave a warning message and you got to choose whether to continue or not, I did, and it looked like it might be working as it changed to zero data on the phone, but then they all popped back up again from God knows where from, but without their little added bits like pictures of the people. So, I tried un- syncing the darn phone from google and then deleting them globally. That didn't work either. I tried deleting them all again and again and google would crash and not let me do it. It is absolutely ridiculous that this is so damned difficult to do (especially if you are not computer savvy) and that you cannot choose which device overwrites which when syncing. I gave up and ticked sync with Google again (not that it appears to do anything to the phone contact list at all). So after 5 hours I am back to where I started from, with a phone showing all the same incorrect contacts (but the pictures are back), which wants to overwrite the computer if I try any sort of sync, and no way to fix them except go into each one manually and try and do it - and how long would that take (and I've already wasted hours and hours fixing scrambled contact lists!). I think I will do a print out of the computer contact list and just carry it around with me like an address book - so much bloody simpler. So now I have a headache, am fighting an overwhelming urge to hurl the phone at the wall, hoping for a heat wave to evaporate icloud things and am wishing I had bought an iPhone instead of the stupid HTC Android. Can any one offer me any suggestions on how to get rid of the contacts on my phone and replace them with the ones in my mac address list - hopefully after that they can sync to their hearts content and not stuff everything up again (which was why I unsynced google a while back - because the phone's list kept making stuff ups and scrambling and duplicating my computer contacts list). Am I the only one on the planet having this problem or is there someone else out there who has had it and solved it.

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.
iOS devices are meant to be single user and can't view iCloud.com the same way a Mac or PC can do.
You need to find a desktop or laptop machine (Mac or PC) to log in at iCloud.

Will running games that make the fan run loudly and the computer heat up damage my machine?

On my Macbook Air running Yosemite 10.10.3, with 4 GB RAM, 251 GB storage (170 GB free), a 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, and Intel HD 6000 1536 MB graphics card, when I play games such as Batman Arkham City, I experience very smooth gameplay with high fps. The only thing that worries me is when I play, the laptop heats up very much and the fan runs pretty loudly. Even with old, less intensive games like GTA SA, the computer gets pretty hot and the fan runs loudly. Is this damaging the computer, or can I continue to play these games?

Yes you can continue to play games but heat is the bane of electronics and in time there will be a cost. When is hard to say, but I can put it this way, a fan running constantly at high speed is more likely to fail sooner than one at a slower speed.
