Browser links no longer open iTunes

This seemed to happen after updating to 9.2 I am on Windows 7 64X. I've tried every webkit based browser, FF even IE 8. None of them will open iTunes. When I click on "I already have iTunes" it simply hangs there. Would greatly appreciate any help with this..

I clicked on the golf podcast and got not one, but two, pop-ups asking if I wanted to allow the website to open itunes. Perhaps one of those pop ups was from Windows Firewall and the other from IE? I probably would have gotten a 3rd pop-up, but I have my security software turned off while fighting a windows 7 file sharing issue.
At any rate, I can confirm it works OK here with 9.2 and Win 7. So it must be some setting on your PC that's blocking it. I got plopped down into the podcast page in the itunes store after I clicked OK to the pop-ups.
Try changing your IE settings to "always prompt" or "always allow", just as a test - and see if it will go to the podcast page in itunes. You can always change it back. My IE settings are set to always prompt, and Windows Firewall has a rule to allow itunes.exe, ituneshelper.exe, and bonjour.
If you have some other security software then turn it off temporarily as a test, too.

It sounds like you are getting this error message when installing iTunes 11.1.4 on your computer. This error message is mentioned in the following article:

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Part of the troubleshooting does involve re installing iTunes again, but the article linked therein will show how to uninstall iTunes and its associated programs as well for a clean install.

This I did using our imac and hopefully saved my software.. The restore did not work and now my pad will still not open iTunes and I no longer have my apps. What can I do to get my purchased books etc. back and open iTunes again?

Most of your purchases content can be downloaded again via the Purchased tabs in each of the store. I realize that this will be a problem for the iTunes Store on the iPad, but that has nothing to do with apps, since apps are in the App Store.
If you backed up synced with iTunes before you restored the iPad, your content should be in iTunes on your Mac and you should be able to sync it back again.

My iPhone 3GS no longer opens iTunes when connected. Not since recent big update. It is ticked to open on connection.

My computer froze and I had no choice but to turn it off. When I turned it back on, it would no longer open iTunes. It says "error 7 (windows error 14001). iTunes said to uninstall and then reinstall iTunes. Windows installer won't work.

My computer froze, so I had to finally turn it off. When I turned it on again, it wouldn't open iTunes. Error7 (Windows error 14001) appeared. I could not uninstall and reinstall iTunes because now Windows Installer isn't working either. Tried using "System Restore" from a backup, but still didn't fix problem. Tried online purchase of registry cleanup ("Error End"), but that didn't solve problem either.
How can I get iTunes to open? Any suggestions for getting Windows Installer to work? Thanks!

Why can I no longer open iTunes?

I cannot seem to open iTunes any longer from my PC, I have reinstalled iTunes and setup a new user on my PC and have all teh current Norton AntiVirus 360 SW. It gets as far as the Read and Accept of the new installation and peters out

Ipod Connect No Longer Opens Itunes

For some reason, and this just started happening recently, when I connect my Ipod, it opens up the folders of the Ipod as if it were a Hard Drive and does not open Itunes automatically. I have it selected in Itunes settings to Automatically open Itunes when Ipod is connected. I did a registry hack for my Zune, so it could be seen as a Hard Drive, but that was for the Zune. I've since uninstalled all my Zune software. So I don't think the Zune is related but, does anyone know why ? Oh yea I'm using 2 Ipods, one is set to Automatically Update to Itunes, the other is set to Manually Manage Music. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I figured it out myself. I recently did a msconfig in startup and disabled "Itunes Helper" in the list and then enabled it again (adding the check mark) and that did the trick.

IPod touch no longer opens iTunes -- option is greyed out in device Summary

I've been using my 1st gen iPod touch with iTunes for two years with no problems. Recently when I plug the iPod into my computer, nothing happens (besides charging). If I manually open iTunes, the iPod does appear as a device, and I can click Sync to get things going -- but the "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected" option is greyed out. Anyone know how to get this option back so my iPod will automatically open iTunes when I connect it to my iMac?

Thanks again for your help. It got a little dicey because without the manage my own files box checked iTunes tried to sync the iPod to iTunes and there wasn't enough room on the iPod for all of the music. Once I got the prevent sync bow unchecked in Preferences and unchecked the manage my files and use disc boxes unchecked I was able to check the start iTunes box and the manage my files box an apply it so that I have the best of both worlds going own.

We are trying to re-load iTunes onto my iPad in order that we can transfer selected music from laptop to my iPad......after re-setting iPad to factory settings we no longer have iTunes. Does anybody have any suggestions......T&C does not make provision for acceptance.

'mailto' links no longer open a new message

Hi,
Since I upgraded to Lion I no longer get a new message with a pre-filled address when I click a mailto link on a webpage. Is there a way to get this functionality back? Also, when I click the Mail icon in the dock I no longer get taken to my inbox. I have to either remember to open it via the icon on the right side of the dashed line on the dock, or, after clicking the Mail icon, go to the Window item in the menubar. Weird.

I had to go back to the last install file I had on hand, which was 3.0.9 because FF "denied proxy" after upgrading. Once I get that message, the program won't even open until I install an older version. Upgrading again yields the same results.

Mailto: links no longer opening email address

something seems to have happened and i'm trying to troubleshoot whether this is a flash problem, a browser configuration problem, or what... but the simple "mailto:" function for email addresses that i used to use all of the time, no longer works. here's a sample page: http://www.veronicamarch.com/ if you click on "contact" and then click one of the mail addresses, nothing happens. i'm using adobe flash CS6, and the actionscript code that i have in on a button symbol is as follows:

thanks for checking! after numerous tests, i've realized that it must be because i have gmail set as my default email client. so... although gmail recognizes html text links, flash not so much. at least i can stop driving myself crazy with the flash file!

Browser link too long?

I ran a query using BEx Browser (BW 3.5), and once I got my result set back I copied the link in the IE address line and pasted it in a new instance of IE. After prompting for a login I got an error that stated "Web application processing terminated", with a further "The reason could be that the system was no longer able to find the Web application server session."
When I looked at the link, it looked like it had been truncated at 150 characters. I'd tried this with a separate query and it worked fine, although I don't know how many characters were in the link.
Is there a limit to the number of characters that is displayed in the address line, or is there possibly something I'm doing wrong?
Here is the link that the Browser generated - notice the end looks truncated.

Can no longer open itunes Error:2096

Ok-using itunes for windows for years. No problem.
I tried to up date to the latest itunes version
I am getting the message:
Error:2096
Quicktime is reguired to run itunes. Please uninstall and then reinstall itunes.
I have done this several times.
I have updated Windows
I have installed, uninstalled Quicktime
I have checked compatibility
I have contacted Apple support; they sent me here.
I had this problem about 2 months ago and Apple walked me through it. Now they cant find me case file and I can't remember what I did to fix and connect to itunes and my ipods and ipad...
Any suggestions?

SO iTunes thinks you don't have Quicktime although you do have it.
This can be caused by a problem with the environmental variable path, although I don't normally associate this with the 2096 error.
There is normally an entry for Quicktime right at the end of PATH, and iTunes uses it.
However if any of the folders in path variable before Quicktime do not exist or cannot be reached, iTunes gives up and assumes you don't have Quicktime.
If you are and experience computer user this may be enough for you to investigate the problem.
If not I can give details.
AS a start you can look at the contents of the path variable by opening the cmd window. (type cmd into your run box).
Then copy&paste the following line into the cmd window and press return
echo %path%
This will display the contents of the PATH variable.
If you need detailed help post back.
