Browser preferences - web clip incompatible with pop-ups?

Hi,
I'm a newbie to iOS & Safari and I've haven't been able to work out the following:
I use a web-browser client app for work.
Since it is an app (with its own built-in navigation), I'd like to clear up space on my screen and use Safari in Full-Screen Mode.
I've therefore created what I believe is called a "Web Clip" (to add an icon with a direct link to the apps' login screen on my desktop/start screen).
When I double-click on this link, no Safari toolbar shows up (address box, navigation buttons, page tabs, etc.) so the interface is neat and has the feel of a standalone app.
However, a couple of functions stop working in this mode (they work fine in the "standard mode"):
I don't receive pop-ups (I'm able to launch reports against the server, which in turn is supposed to send back a PDF-file which should open in a new window or tab).
I can't use a click-on email-link to create a message (it's a simple mailto:x link).
I've searched all the configuration options I could think of but nothing solves this.
Can it be done?
If not, is there any way to "reduce" the space occupied by Safari's toolbar?
Thanks

I'm sorry Jim but I just wouldn't know where to start.
This is not a developer question, I'm just trying to configure the iPad appropriately.
Do you know if there is any configuration option on the iPad Air that "enables pop-ups" in Safari "full-screen mode"??

  • I think i've downloaded something bad affecting my web browsers. I keep on getting bumped to new tabs with "junk" sites. I'm having problems with pop-ups now too. HELP!

While on Safari, or Google Chrome and I click on a story or any where on the page for that matter, and I get bumped to a new tab with a junk site telling me to check my Mac or sign-up for streaming video. MacKeeper, Mac-Messages, Tuneupmymac, DetoxifymyMac, YourmediaHQ, Streamnowmovies, dtv4pc, etc.  I also now have a problem with pop-ups which I didn't have before. While shopping on-line now I keep getting pop-ups giving me alternative prices on the same or similar items that I am browsing.  I have my pop-up blocker activated, but these are still coming through.  Is there any way to clean-up, fix, or block these sites that keep interfering with my internet time?  IT'S MAKING ME CRAZY!

Click here and follow the instructions, or if desired, download and run Adware Medic. The second link is a direct download; if you're unable to download it, see this page.

  • Problems with pop-ups

    Hi,
Recently I have been getting lots of pop-ups. This hasn't happened before and I think it might somehow be connected to the security update I received and downloaded from Apple a week or two ago. I get full-page ads opening behind the browser in their own window, 'gugle.com' and others, and on various sites I get messages about how my PC is under threat (even though I have a Mac), and today while surfing youtube I got a "hi" message with an OK button and the Safari icon. What gives? Can Macs now get adware, viruses, trojans, etc.? If so, is that what these are? How do I get rid of them? BTW, all pop-up blockers are enabled. Not sure if it is just Safari because it hasn't happened on Firefox yet.
    Thanks!

on various sites I get messages about how my PC is under threat (even though I have a Mac)
No viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions.
That is 'scareware' trying to lure ignorant Windows users into downloading and installing malware. The sites you have visited have been hacked, and in the process you may have acquired a 'tracker cookie'.
    More on that here:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8313678.stm
Beware of PDF files from unknown sources. A security firm announced that by its counting, malicious Reader documents made up 80% of all exploits at the end of 2009.:
    http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9157438/RoguePDFs_account_for_80_of_all_exploits_saysresearcher
It is possible, however, to pass on a Windows virus to another Windows user, for example through an email attachment. To prevent this all you need is the free anti-virus utility ClamXav, which you can download for Tiger and Leopard from:
    http://www.clamxav.com/
The new version for Snow Leopard is available here:
    http://www.clamxav.com/index.php?page=v2beta
(Note: ClamAV adds a new user group to your Mac. That makes it a little more difficult to remove than some apps. You’ll find an uninstaller link in ClamXav’s FAQ page online.)
However, the appearance of Trojans and other malware that can possibly infect a Mac seems to be growing, but is a completely different issue to viruses.
If you allow a Trojan to be installed, the user's DNS records can be modified, redirecting incoming internet traffic through the attacker's servers, where it can be hijacked and injected with malicious websites and pornographic advertisements. The trojan also installs a watchdog process that ensures the victim's (that's you!) DNS records stay modified on a minute-by-minute basis.
You can read more about how, for example, the OSX/DNSChanger Trojan works here:
    http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojanosxdnschanger.shtml
SecureMac has introduced a free Trojan Detection Tool for Mac OS X. It's available here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
The DNSChanger Removal Tool detects and removes spyware targeting Mac OS X and allows users to check to see if the trojan has been installed on their computer; if it has, the software helps to identify and remove the offending file. After a system reboot, the users' DNS records will be repaired.
(Note that a 30 day trial version of MacScan can be downloaded free of charge from:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/buy/
and this can perform a complete scan of your entire hard disk. After 30 days free trial the cost is $29.99. The full version permits you to scan selected files and folders only, as well as the entire hard disk. It will detect (and delete if you ask it to) all 'tracker cookies' that switch you to web sites you did not want to go to.)

  • Issue with pop ups on Mobile Safari 5.1.4

Recently I've updated my Ipad through iOS 5.1 and when I tried to access my company web system, within the confirmation of the message to allow the popup to been loaded I've notice that if I tring to access the regular web address with the pop-up block disabled a web page blinks and the login page doesn't appear.
If I try to access the login's page dorectly the login's page open with no difficulty.
When I try to access in oldests versions of the mobile safary - like 4.3, I don't notice this behavior.
Could you provide any help for me?
    Thanks in advance!

That's just the way that Safari works now. If you do not allow the pop ups - the page will blink as you have seen but it will not load.
I cannot remember what earlier versions of Safari used to do, but you have to set Safari to Block pop ups >Off.

  • What is going on with pop ups in Safari?

This has never happened to me in all the years of owning macs.... it's rather disturbing!
I've got a new intel iMac and believe since trying to install a 'player' in Safari to watch football online, I now seem to be plagued by pc style popups on all web pages, I don't know how to stop them... any ideas? I have installed the Safai Popup blocker, but without success.
    Many thanks

Safari - Preferences - Extensions - Add the Ad Block extension.  This will block pop ups.

  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Google Chrome not populating popups working correctly with pop ups.

If incorrect forum, just alert and move.  I am having an issue with hosted Microsoft Dynamics 2013 and Google Chrome latest release, 31.   This just started with the hosted version of Dynamics CRM 2013, Chrome had been working correctly with
    our earlier version of CRM.
When users on latest version of Chrome, 31, login to Dynamics CRM 2013, everything looks fine.  Issue is specifically, for sales folks, when they open a client record, and where the client info is located, there is a standard date and time and tiny
little calendar you can pull up if you click on it.  When the user clicks on the tiny little calendar, they DO get a pop up, but the pop up is blank.  And, there is no error message at all.  Nothing freezes, nothing bad happens at all, except
for the salesperson, who live and die by their calendars and ability to schedule appointments and see exiting appointments.
This is not some in house coding issue.  It is a generic CRM phone call record that has this issue.
Again, no errors, nothing crashes, but Dynamics CRM 2013 is useless to Google Chrome users in house because of this. Which, in a support position, is terrible.  Users who got an upgrade, have their favorite interface rendered useless.  And these
are sales folks.  And, I did all settings according to what I was able to find for CRM 2010 and Chrome, for when pop ups do not work, and all settings were already correct for pop ups, website is in trusted sites, etc, which is what I expected, since
    everything worked on CRM 2010.
Any clues or ideas? Thank You.
    Rick

We don't know. Better to ask over here.

  • Iframes, with pop ups?

Hey! I use an external scheduling website for my pet sitting service. (Basically our clients can log onto the website to book services, blah, blah, blah.) So I wanted to use iframes within iweb so it appeared like clients were never leaving our site to book services, even though they were using an external website.
Sounds great, right?! I got the iframes working with the right dimensions and stuff. But, whenever the external website needs to do a pop up (often for scheduling and payment) the pop up ends up WAY down the screen. (Like two screens down...) So it's kinda useless unless I warn all of my clients to scroll down if it appears like nothing is happening. Unfortunately, I can't give ya'll access to my data base to see what I mean - but does anyone have any experience using iframes with a site that utilizes pop ups?
Is there a setting in iweb I don't know about that deals with iframe pop ups?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Just want to share that in WD, only Modal popup are possible. you can see this in description of parameter MODAL of method CREATE_WINDOW (Obsolete! Only Modal Popups Are Supported).
    Thanks,

  • Help with Pop ups?

    Hi,
I am creating an online course that requires pop ups. I have seen how to create pop ups with the behaviours panel, but:
How do you make the cursor change when it rolls over the word and how do you centre the pop up so it appears in the middle of the screen?

    Do you mean like tooltips?
If so, then this may help:

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Trouble with pop ups

Sometimes when I try to click on some sites especially in fb I get a popup which says I may have a virise and should call 1-877-820-9242. The problem is once this pop-up comes up it will not allow you to click out of it. The only way to get rid of it off
your screen is to reboot your computer. This is ridiculous. I have phoned the number to complain but they won't talk to you unless you want there assistance. This is being railroaded. Not Happy

    Hi billthebuilder,
I would not suggest you to do this, probably the ad itself provide you some wrong direction or like a spam. If you need some protection for the PC, try some anti-virus software instead.
Anyway will move the thread to off topic forum..Thanks for your understanding.

    Hi Ramana,
I have found the same problem, since the Internet Explorer doesn't let you send the user and password in the URL anymore...
I'm really interested in knowing if the AppIntegrator solution proposed worked out, could you please tell me which was the result of your experience?

  • Using mouse overs with pop-ups

I'd like to create a pdf using mouse overs to display otherwise hidden text (in describing various portions of a photo in the doc).  Can anyone lead me in the right direction as specific guidance in 'Help' has so far been limited?

You can use the "Tooltip" for an easy method. You can also use teh "On Focus" and "On Blur" action of a field to show or hide a hidden field by either the drop down actions or JavaScript.
