Browser tells me "Video Requires the lastest Flash Flash Player"

I have a Windows XP system (with all latest updates installed)
Adobe Flash Player website tells me: "You have version 10,3,183,7 installed"
I have and use these three Browsers:
- Firefox 6.0.2
- Internet Explorer 8.0.X.X
- Chrome 13.0.X.X
I've been using this HP Pavilion laptop for 4 years now, and all this time have not had any problems looking at Flash content.  About a month ago, certain websites that use Flash will no longer work, regardless of which web broswer use.  I say certain websites, because it seems most of them DO work, it's just a few that don't (that used to).
So for instance, I'm trying to access and watch video from the Logo website -- specifically full episodes of "RuPaul's Drag Race."  When I navigate to and click on a specific episode to watch, instead of seeing the video appear (where it used to prior to this problem starting), I instead see a message that says:  "Video Requires the Lastest Flash Player."  Today I was at another website, and there were interactive parts of page I was looking at that just grayed-out and would not let me input info they were requestiong -- again in all thre browsers.  I suspect (?) a Flash-related issue.
Although I know my way around a computer, I am not a techie, and don't know what to do to troubleshoot this level of problem.
Help! (please)
Aaron

Hi Chris.  Thanks for the reply and help.
Yes, I do have several security things installed.  Lets see, they are:
- Trend Micro Titaniaum Maximum Security 2011
- Lavasoft AdAware Free Internet Utilities (with Ad-Watch Live) v 9.0.7
- Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6.2
- WinPatrol 2010 Plus v 19.x
I had also not too  long ago downloaded and installed some kind of ad/pop-up blocker for my  web browser called "AdBlock Plus v1.3.9 and accompanying Pop-up Addon  0.2.9 ."   I just uninstalled those to see if that made a difference.   It didn't.  All the other things I (still) have installed in list above,  I have had installed for years with no conflicts/problems.  I have tried turning off/disabling them all to see if that had an effect, and that didn't either.
One odd thing is that I have three computers at home.  The laptop (we've been discussing) as well as two other older Windows XP desktops.  All three computers have this very same problem, regardless of browser being used.

I am unable to access information from the internet as I am unable to install the lastest adobe flash player that is now required.  Can you please help?

I fould a hack that makes the sites think you have the latest (Intel) version of Flash installed. So I installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari. Here's the info.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Where can I get the lastest Adobe Flash Player (version 10) for my Dual 1.8GHz PowerPC G5?

Can someone tell me how to get the lastest Adobe Flash Player (version 10) for an Apple PowerPC G5 computer with OS 10.5.8?

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • All videos require reload of Adobe Flash & will not play after reload

ALL videos ask for an Adobe Flash update reload but do not allow the video to play. Firefox plug-in menu shows Shockwave Flash 10.1.82.76 installed & enabled. What more can be done?

This seems like a problem with Flash. Have you contacted Adobe about this?

  • My Firefox just updated to 6.0.2, and required the latest Adobe Flash Player; however the Flash installation came with a download of Google Chrome, which I do not want and stopped its install after Flash installed successfully.

Basically, I just want to know if this will have any effect on my Firefox, and if this will occur each time I update the Flash player, because I DON'T want Chrome! I want AND prefer Firefox!

Uninstall Google Chrome from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
IF you are not satisfied with the Windows Add/Remove Programs Uninstaller, you can use some other Uninstaller softwares like Revo Uninstaller (Free version or PRO version), IObit Uninstaller etc, to Completely Remove Google Chrome.
    Revo Uninstaller
    * http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
    IObit Uninstaller 2 Freeware
    * http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html
Use these software to Uninstall Google Chrome, Scan for leftover files after the Uninstallation and then Delete all leftover files identified as associated files.
Check and tell if its working.

I'm sure that it coincident with the most recent Adobe update. I get a message like "Plugin not found" inside what should be a video box.

  • Firefox disabled by flash plugin telling me to update to new version. I can't update to the lastest Adobe flash player 11, because it does not support Windows Vista 64-bit. So now what am I supposed to do?

I have Windows Vista 64-bit. I can't play on-line games on Pogo. I already contacted Pogo & they told me to update flash player. Firefox disabled by plugin for flash. I can't get the most updated Adobe flash player because it doesn't support 64-bit.

  • The flash player only shows a tiny portion of a video in the upper left hand corner of the window

Why is the player window not displaying the video thru the whole open flash window and only uses a tiny portion in upper left hand corner to play the downloaded video??

Hi, you can go to youtube and as soon as the video starts to play, right click and then uncheck the hardware acceleration on the Display Setting. Also being recommended is to update your grapic and video drivers to the latest version.
This has helped other users experiencing this problem.

  • Can I use Flash Player plugin version 11.2.202.228 with my Firefox ESR 10.0.7 instead of the most current Flash Player plugin?

I am trying the Tor web browser software pack and it comes with Firefox ESR 10.0.7.
Right now, I'm trying to install a Flash Player plugin because it doesn't have one in this Firefox ESR 10.0.7 already, or this browser just doesn't see the slightly older Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin that I already have already installed on this machine.
'''Is there a way to make this Firefox ESR 10.0.7 browser see the Flash Player plugin 11.2.202.228 that I already have installed on this machine without installing the newest, possibly problematic Flash Player plugin?'''
I already have the Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin installed on this machine, a PC with Windows 7 ULT, because the most current versions of the Flash Player plugin had some problems and they wouldn't allow Flash content to play at all, so I reverted back to a slightly older version of the Flash Player that was reliable, crash free, and most importantly, it works.
But when I try to play any Flash content in this Tor-Firefox ESR 10.0.7 browser it tells me I don't have a Flash Player on this machine, or installed as a browser plugin or add-on, and it wants me to install the most current Flash Player on this machine, which I DO NOT want to do for the reasons I stated above.
My other Firefox browser, along with Google's newest Chrome browser and a newer version of the Safari browser for Windows, plus an older Internet Explorer 8, all WORK JUST FINE with the Flash Player 11.2.202.228 that I have installed on this computer and Google Chrome and Safari didn't even require having newer Flash Player plugins installed at all... they just see the Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin that I already have on this machine and they play all Flash content perfectly.
So can I just make this Tor-Firefox ESR 10.0.7 browser see the existing Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin that I already have on this machine?... and if so, how do I do that?
    Thanks for any help.
Also, I'm not able to find an actual community help forum for Tor, even via their "Torproject.org" website... is there one?
    Thanks,
    numetro

You should actually be using Flash 10.3 (11.2 is insecure).[[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox#w_solution-2-downgrade-flash|Solution 2: Downgrade Flash]].
Also, is there a reason you are using Firefox ESR? It's mean for organizations, and doesn't include all the security and stability fixes that Firefox latest (15.0.1) has.

It is best to go to the source, Adobe, to get their software and updates. Sometimes malware can infect sites with messages that appear legitimate, but will, instead, install malware/virus/trojan on your system. Read the following carefully to install and/or update Adobe Flash.
There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually. '''''You do not have Adobe Flash (aka "Shockwave Flash" in Add-ons > Plugins) installed.'''''
#'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.

  • All the videos require flash plug in - do i need it?

If a video says it requires flash, do I download it?

You can install a safari plug-in called click2flash. Its in html format, so when you play videos, you will be running html and not flash(which is a power hog), plus, it automatically plays the video in the highest resolution available for that video. Unfortunately, there's some videos or sites which has not yet switched to html, so you'll only be able to view via flash. I have click2flash and adobe flash player both installed, so by default, everything will be played by html, except those who really requires the flash player, which then will be played via the flash player
