Browser that will "save as text"

On a PC with IE, I've relied on "save as text" to handle pages with a paragraph-long recipe buried in 20 pages of XML. Safari won't do itr :-(
Can someone who actually uses Chrome, Firefox or Opera confirm that their browser will do this in ISO Latin 1? (not in unicode - no other software I have can use it)
In my first month of Mac use, Apple Support has been reduced to telling me to re-instal the system four times after "something must have been hit" installing or removing apps. Trust you understand why I want to ensure I'm going through all the hassles for something that will in fact solve a problem.

Sounds like I have to start looking instead for a replacement for TextEdit that will at least highlight characters it doesn't like. Mind you, all Windows software I've used simply issues a warning that some characters will be lost and lets you say OK...
Any suggestions for that on a Mac?
Not sure why you are having a problem with text edit.  I cannot duplicate your problem.  I can even drag/drop japanese text with no problems (make sure text edit is in RTF mode).  Try drag/drop into open RTF text edit window.

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Is a fix for "not compatible HP Smart Web Printing 4.60, coming? Do you have a browser that will work with it?

Brand new wireless network printer from hp uses HP web printing 4.60. So I can't use my new printer. If you have a different browser that will work great, I hate to switch to a non mozilla browser.

HP is a third-party developer of that toolbar. <u>'''HP has chosen'''</u> to only support IE versions 6, 7, and 8 for using the HP SWP product. See: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00793678
The HP SWP product gives you options to ''"select, clip, edit, and print content from Web pages without printing the entire Web page."''; see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01846025&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c00793678/en_us/c01846025/loc:2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us . You can perform those same functions with some add-ons for Firefox and/or free utilities on the market.
I use an HP printer and can do all of the above without the HP SWP Toolbar.

I had this problem too, I fixed it by going to my settings and under general at the bottom there is a reset option, go there. One of the options should be reset network settings, select that one. I’m not sure why it happens but that worked for me; hope you have the same luck!

  • I need an Ipad app web browser that will emulate internet explorer as my MLS real estate system only uses internet explorer.  Why is Atomic full version not available in the app store  is there another browser that will do this

I need an iPad app web browser that will emulate internet explorer as my MLS real estate system uses only internet explorer.  Why does Atomic no longer sell the full verison.  What web browser can I use?

Probably none. It's very possible that the reason the MLS required Internet Explorer is that they use technologies (such as Active-X) that are proprietary to Microsoft and so would not be available from the iPad even if a browser will report itself as being Internet Explorer.
You can try iCab Mobile, though, and see if it will work for you:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icab-mobile-web-browser/id308111628?mt=8
It has the ability to identify itself as other browsers, so if the site is only blocking other browsers and not depending on IE's technology, iCab might work. There could be problems, though, even if the site lets you in.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I write a vi that will save graph data and text data (related to the graph) so the next time I want to view the graph data the text data is included in the read vi?

I am new at writing vi's and hope you may be able to help. I would like to create a vi that will graph measurements taken from a daq device. I would like to include text data that a user can choose from (example: machine number, test circuit, load cell type) that will stay with the graph so when the graph is viewed at a later time the text data (explaining parts of the graph) will display with the graph data. I have included a vi I am using to capture and display a force value. Any help would be greatly appreicated.
    Attachments:
    force.vi ‏500 KB

What you want is a DATALOG file:
When you save a file, use the BUNDLE function to bundle your machine number, test circuit, whatever (include a few spare fields), plus your graph data. Get the graph data from the source, or use a local variable of the graph itself.
Wire the bundle output to the DATALOG TYPE of a NEW FILE function. (I presume you'll use a FILE DIALOG set to SAVE FILE to choose a file path).
Write the same bundle output to the DATA input of a WRITE FILE function.
Use a CLOSE FILE function to (ahem) close the file.
When you want to read a file, use a FILE DIALOG set to EXISTING FILE (or some other means) to specify what file to read. Wire the same cluster type to the DATALOG TYPE of the FILE DIALOG, so that it will only
offer files of the correct type.
When you have a file path chosen, wire the bundle to the DATALOG TYPE input of a FILE OPEN operation.
Use a FILE READ to read a single cluster - the output of FILE READ will be a cluster of the right type.
Use a CLOSE FILE function to....
Out of the FILE READ function, you can UNBUNDLE BY NAME the data and send to the graph and the other fields, or, if you're clever, you can use a cluster on the screen, and not unbundle it. That's harder though, since you probably want the text fields to be controls (inputs) and the graph to be an indicator (output).
    Hope that helps.

  • Text/File Reader that will resize/reformat Text for easy reading.

I've used a couple of Text/File reader Apps; but with all of them,
you have the choice of zooming out to see enough of a page to
see an entire line of text, which is way too tiny to read, or zooming
in so that it's easy to read, but then needing to scroll back and forth
    to read each line.
Is there a reader that will display text large enough to read, and
reflow/reformat the text so that it's all on the screen?
    Thanks, Jim.

I found that Stanza does a great job reformatting most file types for reading on the iPodT. You do need the Mac OSX software for Stanza to transfer files to the iPodT so that you can read them with Stanza.
I'm happy; but I wish the answer had been easier to find!
    Jim.

  • Can anyone tell me how to get a browser that will work like explorer? I'm trying to access a web page and it tells me browser not supported.

Need help with TMA login from iPad. Works with tablets and android but not with apple

I hate browser-specific web sites. They're usually nothing but lazy programming.
Anyway, there are third-party web browers in the iTunes Store that have a setting that will report the browser as being a different one. iCab Mobile comes to mind and there are probably others. You can try one of those, setting it to report as IE, and see if that site will then work.
If, however, the site is using Microsoft-specific technologies, then you won't be able to use that site from your iPad. The only workaround would be to use one of the remote-control solutions to take control of a computer running Internet Explorer.
    Regards.

  • Need a program that will save the capacity settings for all storage bins

    Hey all,
I would really apprecaite any help with a program I am trying to come up with.
What I need to do is create a program that:
    1. Will save the capacity settings for all storage bins to
    a file
    2. Then update them all to allow unlimited capacity BUT be able to revert back to the
    original that was saved.
Any suggestions about possible existig reports that I may be able to modify to suit my needs, or where to start from if I have to do this from scratch?

I know I'm talking about expensive apps, but having been in prepress for about 30 years now, I really don't look at anything other than Quark XPress or InDesign for page layout apps. Your printing vendor will also be much happier with you when you use these products. Some areas of the U.S. tend to be mostly Quark oriented; others, InDesign. Ask your vendor what they would prefer, and if there are any free or cheap alternative apps they'll accept documents from.
Apple's Pages app (part of iWork) is a decent page layout program, but hasn't been updated in four years. It also doesn't support CMYK. If you place a CMYK image in the app, it will export out an RGB version of it. Not good! You can work with RGB images if you prefer, but your CMYK translations will be left to the skill of the print shop you use to do the conversions.
Don't even think about using Word. It has what it calls a page layout option, and does pretty much work like one, but there's no good way to import it into a real layout app such as InDesign. You end up paying the printer for their time to rebuild your entire project in either XPress or InDesign so they can actually do something with it.

  • Looking for a script that will save as v11

I need to save a book and all its files as version 11 (from version 12)

    Hi Dave,
I have a script that saves to any FM version above 7 (and including MIF format, too). The script optionally copies all images to a local folder and optionally also includes text insets in the save. I know I sent you another script a couple of weeks ago, but I did not keep your email address. If you send the adress to me again I will forward a binary version of the script (the script source is something I am thinking of selling at a later stage and there was a lot of work on it, so I am a little less generous on that).
Not sure if I have the latest version of the script on my laptop (I am on a business trip this week) but I can send you the script by Saturday at the latest.
    Kind regards from Copenhagen

  • Adobe can you create a palette that will save favorite typefaces?

How awesome would it be to have a palette across CC where favorite fonts can be saved. Along with that have filters such as: serif, san serif, bold, condensed, script, ect. This could be a huge time saver and I think designers everywhere would love it. Any one else agree?

It's a reasonable request, especially since Adobe is already starting to go down this road. InDesign CC has a font menu feature where there's a star next to every font name, and if you click the star you mark that font as a favorite. At the top of the InDesign font menu are filter icons for favorite fonts and TypeKit fonts, so if you click the favorites filter the font menu will only display the fonts you marked as favorites. (Illustrator also has a font menu filter, but right now it doesn't do favorites.)
    BearHNC wrote:

Adobe Muse has a useful filter like that for easier browsing through TypeKit fonts before you add them to the Font menu.
So Adobe is already doing a form of the features you're asking for, so when you make your request on the feedback site you will want to make a case for having Adobe extend those existing features into other CC apps like Photoshop.

  • Is there a way to make a mobile number clickable in an inDesign PDF document, that will open a Texting or Instant Messaging Application?

Thoughts are to allow groups of individuals mobile numbers to be shared across larger organizations, from within a PDF document, that the mobile numbers would be clickable, and open up a Text or instant messaging application on either the computer, tablet, or smart phone, for instant communication.

  • Some kind of virus has gotten into my browser that will cause it to go automatically to a new, unwanted webpage after a few seconds.

Sometimes when I click on a link, the browser will go to that page for about a second and then will automatically go to a new (unwanted) webpage. When I use Firefox's "go back" button, a splash screen will appear asking me if I really want to leave that page. Sometimes it will take me back and stay and at others it will go revert to the new, unwanted page. The unwanted page is different each time and generally look to be real pages but random. Also, sometimes when I click a link, Firefox opens a second browser window with a random page. This happens several times throughout the day. It will happen both with some of my standard bookmarks that I use all the time and also with new urls. Most of the time it seems to be random but does happen more with some links than others. Is this a new virus?

  • How to create a check box that will result in text being hidden or visable?

I am creating a PDF form and have a section where a reference needs to be entered.
My problem is that the references are each several lines long therefore I cannot use a drop down for the user to select.
To combat this I want to have 3 check boxes, each which relate to a specific reference. When the check box is ticked the reference will be displayed.
If the box is un-ticked the reference will be hidden.
Any help or other ideas to solve this issue would be Much appreciated.

OK, so I have managed to make the check button make an option hidden, however I cannot make it reappear. I have also set a button at the top of the form to reset it but this does not work on these boxes.......
