Browser viewing problems

I am a beginner and still working with Dreamweaver MX 6.0. I
was able to view newly designed pages in browser on my old
computer. This is a new computer and I cannot view designed pages
in browser. I already reset the internet settings to a higher
value. When I click F12 or in the menu "Preview in browser" the
'Cannot find page" error message comes up. What am I doing wrong?
Did I forget how to do it correctly? I appreciate your help.
Thanks, Angelika

Did you define a testing server by chance? Do you NEED a
testing server?
Please update to DMX6.1 at your earliest convenience using
the updater at
the Adobe Downloads pages.

  • Importing/ Browser Viewing Problem

I have created a new folder. It shows in the Projects Tab. I then go to my ALL PHOTOS and locate a photo that I then drag and drop in the new album. Cool. No Problem there. Then I go back to ALL PHOTOS and drag and drop a different photo into the album. The album then says that I have 2 pictures in there but...only one is showing.
When I go to ALL PHOTOS and then drag and drop another photo, it will say that the album has 3 pictures in it, but only shows one. And it's the previous imported image.
All of my other albums say a certain amount of photos and they also SHOW all of them.
What view option and I'm not seeing?
    Thanks!

I figured out the problem. Next to the Magnifying Glass in the thumbnail browser is another small magnifying icon for the search filters. Under the search filter I had a photo name in the search that I had not deleted. Once I deleted the name from that it showed all of the photos in the album. It was only showing the "searched" photo.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Browser view problem...

what would make my website show up ok in live view but not when i view it as a browser?

    kb7omc wrote:

A lot of factors could be at work.
    1. .css/.js/image files not uploaded, or uploaded to the wrong location
    2. File names on server don't exactly match links (servers are CaSe SeNSiTiVe, your local OS is not)
    3. Files in your page are using absolute links to your hard drive (your local site definition is not set up correctly)
    4. Live View is a "mostly there" Webkit browser, errors in your code may be causing a display problem in non-webkit browsers like IE, Firefox or Opera. Visit http://validator.w3.org to get a list of html errors to clear them out
There are other reasons, but those are the most common.

The correct images shows in the currently playing box in the lower left. Also the scroll bar does not show up properly. I jsut DL'ed 7.0.1.8 and it did not fix the issue.

  • Design view and browser view in DW are different than when I view from local folder

I'm brand new to Dreamweaver CS5.5 and here is my problem:
I've made an html page in dreamweaver with a banner, with an additional graphic and some text on top of the banner.  It displays just fine in every browser when I view from the local folder, but when I open DW and view, it displays incorrectly in all three design, live and browser views within DW.  If I make changes to the css file until it views correctly in design view, it no longer displays correctly from the local folder and it still doesn't view correctly in live or browser view within DW.  If what I'm doing isnt going to display accurately in any of the views provided by Dreamweaver as compared to the live server, whats the point in having this software?  I could just keep building webpages in notepad and uploading with CoreFTP.
Any suggestions?  Is it some setting that I dont know about that I need to change within DW?   Please help.

align="center" is deprecated (obsolete) code in XHTML & HTML5 doc types.  Instead of styling markup with HTML, you should be using CSS.
    CSS
    .center {text-align:center}
    HTML
    <p class="center">some centered text here</p>
With respect to break tags, in XHTML doc types the correct syntax is <br /> not <br>.  However your usage of line breaks is inconsistent with good symantic markup.  Use headings <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> for important keywords.  Use <p> for descriptive paragraphs.  Use <ul> <li> or <ol> <li> for lists.  Line breaks should be used minimally if ever.
XHTML doc types require all tags to be lowercase.  Uppercase tags will throw errors.
Your design is too rigid.  When text size is increased in browsers, your content is unreadable.  See screenshot.
    SOLUTIONS:
    1) DO NOT USE POSITION ABSOLUTE.  You don't need it.  Absolute positioning removes content from the normal document flow resulting in a jumbled mess.  Use default CSS positioning (none) with margins, padding & floats to align elements.
    2) Remove HEIGHT values from all CSS containers.  Height limits a container's capacity to hold more content when needed.  Container height should always be determined by the amount of content it holds; not explicit values.  If required to reveal a background image, for example, use CSS min-height instead of height.

  • Webforms visible in project view but not in browser view

    Hi all
    I have a problem:
We have a Yearly Task list with several webforms. Now, if I try to open the webforms in the normal project view everything works fine. But if I click the same Webform when I am in the browser view/tasklists/Yearly, I get the following Error message.

    Hi all,
We try to import Webforms from an application in a new application , inside a folder hierarchy.
There was the same error when we want to access to any documents.
The folder was created by an Active Directory User (With All rights).
I have created a Folder with a Native Account (With All Rights) , and access to the document is now available.
I hope this workaround, will help Oracle to understand the root cause.

  • Design View Problems

    Hello,
I have downloaded the Dreamweaver 8 and I’m in the
process of taking some online tutorials to improve my almost
non-existent skills. I must have changed something during my
careless exploration on the application. The problems I am having
    all involved the design view.
    1. If I create a layer in the lower part of the page it
automatically goes to the top left hand corner but when I view it
in a browser it is still exactly where I placed it in design view.
    2. If I change text using a css styles it will show the
changes in the browser view but not in design view.
    3. I can change the position of a layer if I change the HTML
code but I do not get a handle when I mouse over the top left
corner of the layer. When I change the layer position in the code
it still does not move from the top left corner in design view but
it does change in browser view.( I have to change the position in
the code because when I click the layer the only layer properties
that are available Class and layer)
    4. Last but far from least the only page properties that are
available to me are Appearance, Title/Encoding, and Tracing Image
This is the trial version of Dreamweaver 8 and the same
downloaded trial works great on my laptop. Both machines are XP
    home addition with SP2.
I have been working on the issue for about a week. (Please
don’t laugh) I have removed and reinstalled the
    application...twice.
    Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

  • Metadata ON image in browser view?

i have been finding an issue in deleting duplicate images which i am doing manually and i am wondering if anyone can help with this. since these duplicates are the same /image/ but may not have the same name or the same resolution i do the following (i keep the one with the highest resolution)
first i start in a browser view that lets me see all the images and then i do a manual sort to put the same images next to the same images. now the problem starts.
in order to /see/ the metadata such as image size and file size i have to go into List view where i can see this information. then when i find the smaller of the two images i want to delete this one but since the image is so small in list view (and since i can't click to open it) i have to go back to browser view to see the image. then i go back to list view to delete it.
since all the images look the same in list view (and since my images are not named the same) i sometimes use a black placeholder image which i move around and put between sets of duplicates while in browser view so that when i go back to list view i can make sure to see that the next two images are in fact the dupes of each other - to make sure i am not deleting a small image that is actually the only version of an image/file in my database. i mean, since i can't SEE this image in list view it is almost impossible for me to know which image it is in reality and deleting it without going back into browser view seems like an especially bad idea.
is there a solution to this that might involve enlarging the THUMBNAILS IN LIST VIEW or being able to see image size and file size in BROWSER VIEW without it being too messy?
    TIA for any help.
    - jon

One more suggestion, Jon. Have you considered to stack the duplicates in browser view? This way stacked images will be grouped in list view, and you can easily tell, which images belong to the same set of duplicates, for example: Three similar images stacked - you can disclose them by pressing the disclosur triangle and compare the file sizes. The stacked images will be indented in the list.

  • Browser view for 4G iPod has to be manually reset in iTunes 7

    Hi,
I've noticed that when I hook my 4th Generation 60GB Photo iPod up to my computer now, it doesn't keep the browser view that I like to use.
In iTunes 6, if I had browser view selected when I ejected my iPod, it would be on browser view the next time I hooked it up.
Now I notice, it defaults back to standard list view, and I have to set it back to browser view. This is kind of unconvenient. Has anyone else noticed this?

  • Browser Viewing  / Testing?

I must be mad , I'm a newbe but have some background ....
great software ... problem I can make all the pages fine ,,,test
them all indivigully they all show up 100% by themself in the
browser ... but when I link the pages from the index page and then
test the links the browser linked page show up with broken links
for most of the items .... what and i doing wrong in the linking or
what am i doing wrong with the linked page ?????

This is usually the symptom of using ROOT relative links in
    your page.
See - if you have a) your PREFERENCES set to use temp files
    on preview, and
    b) you have used ROOT relative links, here is what happens -
Your page has a link like this -
    <a href="/whatever.html"....
When you preview this, DW changes that link in the temp file
    so that it
    looks like this -
<a href="whatever.html"... (depending on where that file
    actually is located
    in the site)
AND the link works from your previewed browser view. BUT,
    when you click on
it to bring up "whatever.html", and that page contains a link
    that also
    looks like this - <a href="/whatever2.html", but now DW's
    smoke and mirrors
presto-changeo modification is out of the picture and the
    browser sees that
leading slash as referring to the root of the hard drive, not
    the root of
the site (the browser has no idea where the root of the site
    is).
So, as Alan says, it is often not a good idea to 'click
    through' your pages
like this UNLESS you really understand how this works.

  • Design View - problems, but does it matter?

Another design view question - I've looked through other
posts but not seen anything that's similar.
(Firstly, can't give a URL as I'm sensibly(?) doing a site
    redesign offline...)
I've got a page that consists of three columns - each floated
left, each with nested divs (the nested divs are fixed width).
In design view, everything was fine with this structure - as
was preview in browser, and the page validates with DWCS3's
checker. But adding content to the first of the columns (within a
nested div) made the next two columns drop below the first in
design view - although DWCS3 validation and previewing is still
    fine.
Through judicious deleting etc., I've found that it was a
floated element in a nested div within the first column, that
caused the subsequent elements to drop below the first column.
So my main question is - should I be worried by the design
view problems, or is It just an inconvenience?
(And if there's any other obvious problems I'm inviting by
structuring the page this way, please feel free to (gently) point
    it out...!).
    Thanks, Matt.

  • Aperture 2 black viewer problem

Are there still other users out there having the black viewer problem??
I'll first describe my problem as follows:
On one image when making the basic exposure, brightness and saturation adjustments there were no problems with the viewer. Also when adjusting with highlights and shadows again no problem. But as soon as I started making adjustments in Levels using luminance the viewer went completely black. If I unchecked the box in Levels the picture would come back, but as soon as it was checked again the dreaded black viewer. The adjustments were done in the browser/viewer mode. Too my surprise when I switched to full screen mode the full viewed image with the the adjustments was perfectly fine. But when going back to the browser/viewer the viewer was black again. One more curious note is that after leaving this image for about a half an hour and coming back to it there was no black viewer to be found. Usually I would quit Aperture to get rid of the black viewer, but in this case I did not have to.
By the way I have an ATI Radeon X800 XT graphics card in my dual 2.0 Power Mac G5 and 4.5 Gigs Ram

I very rarely have this problem on my old Powerbook 1.33 GHz 17". Since 2.1 I haven't encountered it. However, the simplest way to overcome it is to go into Full Screen (press F), do 1 simple adjustment (such as increase brightness by .1), go back to Window View (press F again), undo the adjustment (decrease brightness by .1) - et voilà. Takes around 20 secs on my Mac.
For me, it's annoying but no deal-breaker.
    Cheers,
    k.

  • Sawtooth edges in Browser view

Since upgrading to 3.4 (and then 3.4.1) photos that have a tight, horizontal crop are appearing with sawtooth edges when viewed in the Browser. When I look at the photo in View, Split View or Full Screen the problem disappears. This is showing up on RAW and JPEG images.
I can make this happen on any photo if I crop it enough. If I loosen the crop up a little the problem will go away in the Browser view.
I'm not doing anything unusual while processing. I do have four Nik plug-ins installed and they are all up to date. This is even occurring to photos in my library that I haven't touched in years.
I sent this to Apple Feedback but haven't received a reply. Any thoughts from the Aperture users here?

Since the iPad camera does not do this, I invested extravagantly 79¢ into the 360 Panorama.app, v4.2 and took my iPad out into the garden. I managed to take one panorama before it started to rain again.
Never used anything like this before so have nothing to compare it to but it seems to work well. The images are stitched together without any overlap or breaks. It doesn;t seem to matter how fast or slow you move the camera.
    ditto.
The only weirdness in my shots as they were taken on a moving ferry is with the horizon in some shots. As the boat was rocking there are rises and falls on the horizon. Looks like mountains in the water!
Quite the opposite here, but my garden was not rocking - the panorama does show mostly our hedge, but I have never seen it trimmed so perfectly straight before. I wish the iPad could trim the hedges in future.

  • Aperture 3.5 browser view - smaller thumbnails

Updated 27" iMac to Mavericks & the new Aperture 3.5. At maximum size, the browser view thumbnails are much smaller (approx 2.5" x 3.75" on screen) versus previous version of Aperture. Is there a way to increase the thumbnail size?

    Merchon Cottrell
I've had the same problem.  I tried the solution listed above :
(System Preferences->Mission Control->Displays have separate Spaces).
But this wasn't a fix to the swap display problem.  I contacted Applecare, and they recreated the same problem, but haven't been able to offer a solution or workaround.  Now my secondary display is useless (which is essential to my photo-editing workflow).
    Have you found a fix?
Typically, I use the main screen to show the single image that I'm working on, and the secondary display for both the inspector HUD and grid view. To achieve this, I use full screen mode + swap displays.
