Browser window does not work

Firefox updated and since then I have been unable to access a browser window with Firefox. I uninstalled and installed it again and it still doesn't work.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Popups: Navigation from view to window does not work

Hi,
I open a second window as popup. This window has 2 views embedded, displaying view1 first. On some actions I would like to navigate to view2.
Defining an outbound plug on view1 and an inbound plug on view2, connecting them and firing the outbound withith the onaction works absolutely fine.
However, for some reasons I would like to avoid a direct navigation, but would like to navigate from view1 to the popupo window and from there to view2 (or maybe another view, ofcourse also embedded in the same popup window). Unfortunately I fail on this scenario - I can fire the view-to-window plug, but the destination on the window side (handle in method) is never reached.
Since the same concept works fine on non-popup windows I wonder whether a navigation from view to embedded window does not work for popups?
Any idea?

no, just one window.
The first link is view1 -> window, the second window -> view2.
I.e., I fire in the view the outbound plug, which is connected with its window.
In the window I fire an outbound plug, which is connected to view2.
In theory this should work - for non-popup windows I do not have any problem at all, however, for popup windows the navigation from view1 to the window is not processed.
In the meantime I played a little bit further: Instead of firing a navigation from view1, I now fire an event defined in the component contoller, on which an event method is registered within the window. Doing so, I reach the window, which I didn't reach via the navigation link. Once in the window, firing to view2 works just fine ...
Hope the issue is a bit clearer now. Also I found a solution, I am surprised that the simpler way via navigation does not work.

MAXIMIZE WINDOW DOES NOT WORK IN FORMS 9i

Hi,
I am performing forms conversion and developing new forms in Forms 9i. The problem I am running into is that :
the SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW, WINDOW_STATE, MAXIMIZE)
and SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(ROOT_WINDOW, WINDOW_STATE, MAXIMIZE)
in the When_new_form_instance trigger don't work.
I've also tried adding a parameter to initiate the running mode as WEB as suggested in a response that I saw on this
forum, with that parameter I would set the ROOT_WINDOW State to NORMAL
then set WIDHT=800, HEIGHT=600, POSITION=0, 24.........
but it still does not work. When I run the form, the browser opens up as a full screen, but the form only fills up the gray rectangular
area when the Jiniator is running and loading the applet.
If I don't set the Maximize property of the main window to Yes then the vertical and horizontal scroll bars are automatically added,
if I do set so then no scroll bar is added and the form is cut off.
Is it a known problem ? and is there a solution to it?
Any response is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, it worked, and I've been playing with other parameters, such as replacing the lookandfeel (this works), but splashscreen and background don't when I specified the .GIF file name, it did not display the GIF image.

Open Browser Window behavior not working

Just getting started with DW from GL - have successfully imported a few sites into DW from GL and am having trouble getting the Open Browser Window behavior to work. Worked fine in GL, code is similar but different. Have tried different things and am out of ideas. I'm not too code-savy.

bregent, thanks for your input but unfortunately most of that's greek to me. Could you either supply me with sample code for one of these links or explain what I'm doing wrong in the design mode? I've followed DW instructions and as far as I can tell I'm doing what I'm supposed to in the behaviors tag inspector. Not sure about some of the settings I should have when browsing for the linked file to open in the new browser window. What should the parameters be set to? What should the relative link be set to, document or site root? How about some of the other options like Select file name from: data sources, server, site root? I've messed with them and tried different combinations but nothings working for me.

I've been using FCP 7 on my iMac for quite some time with great success. Lately I created a new project and the browser window does not format properly (it's O.K. for previously created projects). The effects window is also not displaying properly.

Help! My browser window is suddenly not formatting properly. (losing browser formatting, glitch, bug) I'm using FCP 7 on an iMac with OS X 10.8.5 and have been successfully doing so for a couple of years. I fear my Final Cut Pro is corrupt and I have to re-install. Anyone ever see this problem? Old projects display and behave fine in the browser, but any new project I create, totally loses the formatting in the browser and the browser also does not display the "effects" window properly anymore. Right click on a link and selecting "open in new window" does not work. How do I gewt this feature to work? PS Right click on a link and selecting open in new tab does.

No matter where the link is - in an e-mail or on a web page - the "Open in new window" feature does not work. Very annoying. Also I close Firefox in a session, but then cannot re-open it. When I shut my PC down I get a prompt to End Task -[ Firefox ] and a window opens asking if I want to save tabs and quit; quit; or cancel. After closing Firefox it does not show as an application running in Task Manager

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

Trackpad browser navigation does not work anymore.

I've just noticed that I cannot navigate in the browser anymore with the trackpad... forward and backwards does not work anymore...
I've attached the new Mighty Mouse yesterday and installed the 10.6.2 update today.
Was sitting on the couch and noticed that it does not work anymore. Checked the
prefs of the Trackpad and ticked/unticked the box, however to no avail.
Anybody else noticed this problem or does anybody knows how to fix it???

I FIXED IT!! I can't believe it . I actually figured out how to make it work(well sort of). My Apple Software Updater now works (almost) perfectly and I just successfully downloaded and installed itunes 10.6.3.25 through it!!!
Ok , the way I see it, either the latest itunes update or the recent Windows Patch Tuesday on June 12th, 2012 must have inadvertently removed the Administrative Rights from the Apple Software Update Tool .lnk file.
So you must go to where the file resides on your hard drive - for me that was C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs - Right click on the Apple software Tool icon and choose properties. Click on the compatibility tab. At the bottom of this tab click on "change settings for all users" and hit Yes at the UAC pop-up. Now make sure you place a check in the "Run this program as Administrator" under the Privilege level section at the bottom. Hit Apply and then OK. The hit Ok again to get off the properties pop-up.
When I went back and clicked on the Apple Software Update shortcut, I got a UAC pop-up asking me if I wanted to proceed(something I had always, in the past, gotten but haven't since this problem started). The Apple Software Update tool came up and to my suprise the progress bar STAYED and started to slowly fill up partially with the green progress bar. Viola, the itunes 10.6.3 update showed up on the top part of the screen as a new update needing to be installed - the bottom screen, as usual, had the changelog info for the 10.6.3 update. I clicked on install and , again, Viola. the update downloaded and installed flawlessly. I had to reboot my computer and when it restarted, itunes was working perfectly and it was correctly showing as itunes v10.6.3.25.
I say it is almost or sort of fixed because when you click on the Apple Software Update shortcut after the 10.6.3 install it goes back to doing the same thing it did before(i.e. processing for a second and then saying there are new updates but showing a blank field). Maybe this is the way the software now looks if there are no updates available to install - maybe Apple is working on this to eventually get it back to normal. All I know is the process I outlined above worked for me(at least to get the ASU to recognize and properly download and install itunes 10.6.3). It's certainly not perfect, but it worked. Please try this method and let me know what results you have with it. Good luck.

Using DW 8 on Mac and can't get this Open Browser Window
behavior to work in IE 6 on a Windows machine. Any

I cannot open a new tab - when I restart firefox (or my computer), ctrl T does not work, and the "+" tab next to the single tab on my browser window does NOT open a second tab

Firefox3.6.18, running on WinXP (all the Microsoft patches), opens with a single tab. Clicking the Add Tab "+" or pressing CTRL T does not open a new tab, although I can open a new window. Also, when exiting from Firefox, my tab location is not saved.

Please disable or uninstall the Ask toolbar extension to solve your problem. It has a known incompatibility with Firefox. See [[Uninstalling add-ons]].

"Open with" in Windows does not work for Bridge CS5

When I right click on a picture to open it with Bridge CS5 nothing happens. Does anybody know how to fix this?
It worked with older version of Bridge and it stopped once I installed the CS5.
I have Windows Vista.

So have you opened the fly out menu that lists the open wiht programs? It has a option down on the bottom to set other "open with" options such as open with Bridge. Does this not work?

Browse button does not work in ebay standard uploader for firefox 32.0.3 by it works in IE

when trying to upload images to eBay to sell items the browse button on the standard uploader does not do anything, this works fine in IE and the basic upload also works well in both. I have cleared all cache and cookies but still not working.

I understand the uploader is not working and you have cleared the cache and the issue continues. Please also Try [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] this will tell you if it is an add on interfering with the functionality of the Browsing/Upload button.
In case of Java you can check the Security tab in the Java Control Panel to make sure that Java for browsers is enabled.

'New Window' does not work while generating HTMLhelp

Hi team,
I have created a RoboHelp project and assigned the property 'Open in a New Window' for a particular page.
When I generate HTMLhelp format, and I click on the page, it opens in the same frame, but does not open in a new window.
However, this feature works fine when I generate Webhelp.
Is there any workaround?
Any assistance will be appreciated!!!

thanks for the hint, it helped the find the source of the problem.
Our Portal Framework is highliy modified - actually it is more a own developed Framework than a modification to the SAP Standard framework.
Opening the WebDynpro in a new window with the SAP Standard Framework does work perfectly. With the own developed Framework, the system behaviour is like described in my original post.
Thus back to the roots: We have to check our portal framework again :-(.

Preview in Finder windows does not work with VLC Player

hi there,
i am using vlc player, and whenever i access a folder where i have many avi folders that vlc player is set as the default program to open them, the finder windows freezes and i have to relaunch it. also, when i click on get info for a particular avi folder, finder crashes again because it cannot preview the file in the window. does anyone know how i can resolve this issue?

I use VLC and there are some bugs with the latest version. Try an earlier version. WIth VLC, I keep the older versions for things like this.
For instance, the new VLC give the wrong time on a stereo audio file. In fact it gives double the correct time. I have had some other issues with VLC, but it's easy enough to remove and install.
If you make QT the default and then right-click the video and select VLC to play it, does that work?
