Browser window question

Hello.
When using iTunes I like having the browser window open at all times -- the one at the top with the three columns for genre, artist, and album.
This works fine for my computer-based iTunes library, but EVERY time I try to look at the sons on my iPod it defaults back to just a list. This happens even just exiting the iTunes application and restarting -- I don't have to disconnect and reconnect the iPod for it to happen.
So my question is how can I make the iPod song list view work like my computer song list, where the browser window is always there?
Thanks much,
ALF

That's too bad because it used to work the way I'm wanting.
And I can activate the browser window when looking at the iPod -- it just won't STAY that way between successive launches of the iTunes application.

    Okay, I'm deferring to my DW book on how to open a new
    browser window to a set size. It works fine, I understand the code
    and all things function as they should.
    BUT...
    There is no longer that cute, little hand that pops up to
    tell the viewer, 'HEY, click here'. This is new turf for me and I
    know it shouldn't be difficult. Help?

    This symptom means that you have mistakenly applied the
    behavior directly to
    the image, rather than to an anchor wrapping the image. To
    fix this, select
    the image, and enter "javascript:;" in the Link field of the
    Property
    inspector. Press Tab to set the link. Then apply the behavior
    to that
    anchor tag.

  • Flash Full Browser Window & Scaling Question

    Hi all, I am trying to develop a site that will be able to
    have the entire browser screen a flash movie. Also, how do I scale
    it so that the image in the middle stays the same size but the
    background scales depending on how far you drag the browser window.
    It is very popular in Flash design now, and I just cant seem to get
    it to work for me. Below are a few examples of what I am trying to
    achieve. Thanks in advance.

    Hmm. I had a look at all 4 links to the sites you posted.
    VERY COOL sites. I shall be watching this thread closely 'cause
    this is what I'm trying to develop. I'm busy trying to re-design my
    photography website in Flash and have the same problem... I cannot
    get it to scale 100% of all browsers - only the resolution it was
    designed at (in this case 1024x678. Even so, when I import the HTML
    file from Flash to Dreamweaver, it has a invisible border of a cm
    or so around the edge of the screen so the graphics don't extend to
    100% of the browser.
    Many thanks in advance

  • Open Browser window behavior question

    I have linked files set to open in a 600x700 browser window when an image is clicked. Everything works fine, but when my cursor is over the image, there is no icon (cursor doesn't change to a hand) that indicates a linked file to the user. How can I fix this?
    You can see the page here.

    Add a CSS style for images
    cursor:pointer;

  • Question about Behaviors and Open Browser Window

    First my link:
    http://www.progressity.com/portfolio.htm
    I've created a Portfolio section in my web site. When you
    click on one of the thumbnails you get a small browser window
    (setup with Behaviors/Open Browser Window size settings) with a
    link to visit the site. The problem is in visiting the actual site
    the browser window is locked to the smaller size. What am I
    missing? I didn't set a behavior for the "visit site" link. But
    it's defaulting to the same size.

    You didn't do anything wrong. If your browser window is a
    certain size, then
    if you click on a link in it, it will stay that size. What
    you might want to
    do is enable the scrollbars and resizing for the web site New
    Browser
    Windows so when it opens small the user can enlarge the
    window. Though you
    probably want the toolbars and everything to show so they can
    actually
    navigate.

  • I installed 4.01 and now when I click on a link in the menus or the seach window, the whole firefox browser window jumps

    This happens when I click on most menu links. For example, if I click on Help and select "About Firefox" the entire browser window jumps. The same goes for if I click on the default search box or on the Google Toolbar search box.
    If I click on something out of Firefox, such as my desktop or an open program, it jumps when I click the Firefox tab on my task bar to return to Firefox.
    When I click a shortcut link, such as in bookmarks, it does not do it.

    For those of you who have tried to clear this problem up with virus scans, various malware scanning programs, tdss rootkiller, etc....I have another possibility. I found another thread on this very forum where someone suggested the problem was in the router...specifically, there were manually entered DNS addresses in the router setup. I logged into my router (192.168.1.1) and sure enough, there were DNS addresses loaded and it was setup to use those DNS addresses. I simply clicked on the option to pull the DNS addresses automatically from my ISP, changed the password, and the problem was gone.
    Thanks to cr85tx for the solution!!!

  • Closing the browser window

    I have a page that opens vignettes [videos] built using Captivate in a new window.  What I'd like is to close this window once the video has stopped playing i.e. reached the last slide/frame.
    I've tried setting properties on the last slide in the project to "Execute Javascript" and using "window.close();" as the code. But this doesn't seem to close the browser window. If I change the JS to something like "alert('Hello');", it works i.e. I do get a JS Alert window at the end of the video.
    I am sure this is easy for folks who've been working with Captivate, but I just started using this morning so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Link in report that sends user back to original browser window

    Greetings:
    I have a link in browser A that opens up a new browser window B and runs a report. Within this report in browser B, I have a column whose values have links. When the user clicks on the link, I want to redirect back to browser A to run a query that displays detailed information about their selection. Browser B would remain open.
    Within the link in browser B, how do I redirect back to Browser A to run this query?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stan

    if i have understood your question properly then this is what you need to do.
    1. Edit the report which is opening in browser B.
    2. Edit the column which contain the link.
    3. Go to link tab.
    In link text - click on first option. You will see #COLUMN_NAME# in the link text.
    In target select URL
    in URL textbox enter - javascript:onclick=refreshParent(#COLUMN_NAME#)
    Click on apply change.
    4. now enter the following in the html header of the page
    <script>
    function refreshParent(serach_key)
        opener.$x('P1_XYA').value = search_key;
        opener.doSubmit();
        self.close();
    </script>See example

  • Conditionally opening a new browser window from a JSP page

    When the user clicks on a button in my JSP page, I'd like to launch a new browser and display certain things in that browser window while leaving the original browser window open. The new browser should only be displayed if certain conditions are met.
    My thought was to invoke a javascript method in 'onLoad' which would determine if the new window needs to be launched.
    This is kinda what my page looks like:
    <jsp:root version="1.2" ................>
        <jsp:directive.page import="java.util.*, com.test.Configuration" contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"/>
        <f:view>
         <ui:body binding="#{Page1.body1}" id="body1" onLoad="launchWindow();">
         </ui:body>
       </f:view>
       <script type="text/javascript">
            function launchWindow(){
             if (Configuration.openWindow()) {
              window.open("hello.jsp", "newWindow", 'toolbar,width=400,height=400');
        </script>
    </jsp:root>
    My problem is that the call to "Configuration.openWindow()" does not resolve correctly. If I remove that call and simply make a call to "window.open()" all works. But once I put the condition in, nothing happens. I do not see an exception in my browser window but a new browser window does not open.
    Is my syntax correct. Can I make a call to the static method 'openWindow()' in my class 'Configuration.java'.
    I posted this same query on the JSF forum but received now replies. My question is more suited to the JSP forum and hence I'm posting this question here.
    thanks,
    tsc

    I have made some changes so that I do not directly access the 'Configuration' class in my javascript.
    I have a hidden field on my form and when the user clicks the button, in my back bean, I set a value for the hidden field. In the javascript function 'launchWindow()' I check if a value has been set for the hidden field and if yes, I open a new window.
    <ui:body binding="#{Page1.body1}" id="body1" onLoad="launchWindow(document.forms[0]);">
    <h:inputText id="hiddenField" value="#{formBean.hiddenValue}" />
    <script type="text/javascript">
            function launchWindow(form){
                alert("in lw");
                var test = form["form1:hiddenField"].value;
                alert("got test");
                if (test !=  "")
                    window.open("hello.jsp", "newWindow", 'toolbar,width=400,height=400');
                alert ("done test");
    </script>When my page is first loaded, the launchWindow() is called and all the alerts popup as expected.
    When I click on the button (the back bean sets the value on the hidden field), my page is reloaded but this time its blank.
    Any ideas as to why this maybe the case?
    thanks,
    tsc

  • Displaying PDF in new Browser window

    Hi all,
    I have a question about displaying a invoices in pdf format in a new window. I read several threads about this, but I haven't been able to solve my problem.
    I'm using following code:
    append the pdf to the response
      cl_wd_runtime_services=>attach_file_to_response(
        i_filename  = 'test.pdf'
        i_content   = lx_pdf
        i_mime_type = 'application/pdf'
        i_in_new_window = ' X'
        i_inplace       = 'X' ).
    The content (lx_pdf) is retrieved from a smartform, via the function module for the smartform in question, after which I convert the OTF Data (JOB_OUTPUT_INFO-OTFDATA) to XSTRING using FM SCMS_TEXT_TO_XSTRING. The returned data (buffer of type xstring) I use for afore mentioned method. But all I get to see is the following:

    The text is correct, but it is not displayed as PDF in new window, and of course I'm not interested in all the formatting codes in front of every line??
    I should be possible to display a pdf in a new browser window without having installed everything needed for Adobe Interactive forms, or isn't it??
    Kind regards,
    Micky.

    Hi Micky.
    If you have the spool number of the printed billing document you can use
    component WDK_SPOOL_TO_PDF in order to display spool as PDF.
    Just transfer spool number and format to default inbound start up plug.
    Cheers,
    Sascha

  • Forcing link in one web based PDF to open link to another PDF in new browser window

    We have created a form using LiveCycle Designer ES2.  The form is found on our website and is used by faculty to submit proposal information to our office.  Depending upon the answers to questions in the form if they say yes we had a link to another form that we would like them to complete and submit with the original PDF that they are working on.  The problem that we are having is that when they click on the form it opens the new PDF and all the data that they had entered in the original PDF is gone once the new form opens up.  Is there a way to force the new PDF via the use of some scripting that can go along with the link, or via the use of a button that can force the new form to open in a new browser window?  It is impractical for us to expect 1500 faculty members to change their browser settings to open new PDF's in a new window.  We have removed the links for now and have just put in text that says if they select yes they need to go out and complete the additional form.
    The form we are using can be found here: http://spo.usu.edu/files/uploads/SP-01.pdf
    The first three questions on page two where we reference the other forms is where we would like to be able to add the links to the new forms and have them open in a new browser window.  When the form is downloaded and opened in Adobe Acrobat/Reader the links functioned correctly, it just did not function properly when it opens in a browser.
    Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer in regards to this issue.

    I used a button, removed the border/fill properties and underlined the caption to look like a URL.
    The click event is...
    // form1.page1.subform1.urlBtn::click - (JavaScript, client)
    app.launchURL("http://spo.usu.edu/files/uploads/SP-01.pdf",true);
    The PDF will open in a new window or tab, depending upon the browser configuration.

  • Open links in new browser window

    We are using Oracle WCI 10.3/Collaboration 10.3 and have a Community Links Portlet (collab portlet) setup. The links open up in the same browser window and to get back to the portal, the user has to hit the back button on the browser. So,
    1) Is there a portal/collaboration configuration that enables links to open up in a new browser window?
    2) Is there a way to hide the address bar when the link opens up in a new window? (the reason for this question is, we may have a link to some applications where we don't want the user going in directly. So, by hiding the address bar, they can't copy the URL and access directly without going in through the portal).
    If there is any better way to do question 2 above, would appreciate the feedback.
    Thanks.

    I was able to figure this out:
    1) In the My Account section, under display preferences, there is an option to "open documents in same window" or "new window". By changing this, links in the Community Links portlet open up in a new browser window.
    2) With a simple javascript example that I found on the internet, I was able to customize the popup browser window with no address bar or menu buttons.

  • ActionPerformed method not working when applet is loaded in browser window.

    Hey there guys. I need urgent help from anybody who has experience in deploying websites whose code is in java.
    I am having two problems as mentioned below...
    first, I have made a simple login screen using java swing and JApplet. there is a single button to login. the action performed for this button accesses a private method to check the username and password which are there in atext file. the applet is working perfectly in appletviewer but when i load the applet in a Internet Explorer window using HTML's Applet tag, the button is giving no response at all even when i enter the correct username and password.
    I guess it is either not calling the private function that is checking the username and password from the tes=xt file or it can not access the file. Please help as soon as possible as this is related to my college project.
    I am attaching the code herewith. Suggestions to improve the coding are also welcome.
    the second problem is that while writing my second program for generating a form which registers a user the html is not at all loading the applet into the browser and also if im trying to access a file to write all the details into the console is showing numerous amount of error after i press the button which i can't not understand. the only thing i can understand is that it is related to file access permissions. If anybody could put some light on the working of worker threads and thread safe activities of SwingUtilities.invokeandWait method it would be really appreciable.

    Thirdly, as i mentioned before, I am reading i file for checking of username and password. the file is named as "userpass.txt" and is saved in the directory named "@data" which is kept in the same directory in which my class file resides.OK - server-side. That makes some sense, and makes things easier. The problem with your current code is that the applet will be looking for that directory on the end user's local file system. Of course the file does not exist there, so the applet will fail unless the the end user is using the same machine as the server is coming from.
    To get access to a resource on the server - the place the applet lives - requires an URL. In applets, URLs are relatively easy to form. It might be something along the lines of
    URL urlToPswrd = new URL(getCodeBase(), "@data/userpass.txt");
    InputStream is = urlToPswrd.openStream();
    DataInputStream din = new DataInputStream(is);
    So the problem is that it is reading the file and showing the specific output dialog box when i run it through appletviewer.. Huhh. What version of the SDK are you using? More recent applet viewers should report security exceptions if the File exists.
    ..but the same is not happening when i launch the applet in my browser window using the code as written belowHave you discovered how to open the Java Console in the browser yet? It is important.
    Also the answer to your second question
    Also, the entire approach to storing/restoring the password is potentially wrong. For instance, where is it supposed to be stored, on the server, or on the client?is that, as of now it is just my college project so all the data files and the username and password wiles will be stored on my laptop only i.e. on the client only. no server involved.OK, but understand that an applet ultimately does not make much sense unless deployed through a server. And the entire server/client distinction becomes very important, since that code would be searching for a non-existent file on the computer of the end user.

  • Open Portal Transaction iView in new window *without* Browser window

    Hello,
    Currently i am testing to use the single-sign-on functionality of the portal to launch the SAP GUI for Windows.
    I created some Transaction iViews and they work perfectly without having to log in.
    To use the full GUI size of the SAPGUI in the iView, i configured it to open up in a seperate window. This also works perfectly, but when i let a colleague test the setup, i realized that he has some additional toolbars, which in return decreased the usable space in the browser window for the SAP GUI.
    Now my question is:
    How can i configure the Transaction iView to open up the given transaction in the SAP GUI, but without the surrounding Browser?
    Is this even possible?
    I test this because my comany is searching for a solution to use SSO with the SAP GUI. Since we have the portal we test if we could use it to realize this requirement without generating extra costs.

    Hi Armin,
    for iView (page) you probably set the property 'Launch in New Window' to value Display in Separate Window. To tune up the other otions you have the possibility to set the property Window Features, value should contain toolbar=no. These features will be used when Javascript opens up your window - you can apply any option coomonly documented. IMHO for your demands the best option is fullscreen=yes,toolbar=no - you get really the maximum possible size.

    Pavol

  • Is it possible to open a browser window from an applet?

    Hi,
    this might seem a simple beginners question to you, but to me it is more like a nightmare.
    Is it possible to have a link in an Applet that opens up a new browser
    window with a fixed address??
    If yes, can anybody tell me how? or where can I find documentation about it?
    Please help me.
    Thanks.

    myApplet.getAppletContext().showDocument(URL url, String target);
    TARGET:
    "_self" Show in the window and frame that contain the applet.
    "_parent" Show in the applet's parent frame. If the applet's frame has no parent frame, acts the same as "_self".
    "_top" Show in the top-level frame of the applet's window. If the applet's frame is the top-level frame, acts the same as "_self".
    "_blank" Show in a new, unnamed top-level window.
    name Show in the frame or window named name. If a target named name does not already exist, a new top-level window with the specified name is created, and the document is shown there.
