very disappointed
there may be several reasons for not getting an answer:
1. the number of active forum participants is pretty much dwindling now that ADDT has been officially discontinued
2. the issue you´re mentioning might be something which other users didn´t encounter themselves, means that those who read your post might not be able to provide an answer.

ASk in the DW firum and be much more specific. Web page rendering issues are specific to specific versions of browsers and you may simply be using some bad code that messes up your page.

i want to contribute to the statistics of touchpad driver not working with vista. the touchpad is crashing vista when the touchpad is used. sometimes just leaving it there would crash vista. i have since learned not to use the trackpad altogether and rely on an external mouse. i also hope that apple fixes this problem asap. i'm surprised that 5 months passed since the last released version of the bootcamp touchpad driver and apple still hasn't make any official response. howard

  • Shockwave crashes in ALL browsers. Windows 7 starter, ie, firefox, chrome. Done it all:What's next?

The problem first appeared in Firefox. I updated as directed, attempted to run the test, but kept getting crashes. Switched to ie, same thing. Switched to chrome, which seemed to work for awhile, then it too went down in flames. Per Chrome's support page, I alternately disabled the native chrome shockwave, which seemed to work for about three hours, then disabled the windows shockwave installation, the same. I have scanned for malware, viruses, spyware, old software installs that might conflict with chrome, Upgraded the users system ram (in case it was a resource issue), removed and reinstalled all browsers.
Short of blowing away everything and restoring to factory fresh, nothing works. There are entries on this issue ALL OVER THE WEB: Has it occurred to anyone at Adobe that so pervasive a problem might be on THEIR end? Since there seems to be no real alternative to your products for the average user. and none of the fixes work, perhaps the releases are corrupt?
(p.s.- I have a degree in computer sciences, Microsoft certifications up the wazoo, and have more than 20 years working experience in IT management : I am NOT an average user, and I would like some help.)

i run win 7.0...  i window security essentials complete scan. took 4 hours but found this malware installed by 3rd party.  havent gotten shockwave error since reboot.  will keep posted.  this didnt show up in any other virus scan...

  • "you don't have permission to open this file" when trying to attach in firefox ONLY. Works in other browsers and windows permissions are wide open.

Only a problem in Firefox. Works in IE and Chrome. I went thru support ideas of checking windows permissions (wide open and the user is the owner), starting firefox in safe mode and uninstalled/reinstalled firefox. Same problem. Any file in My Documents gives the same error, so it is not file related. Any directory under My Documents works the same. I can move files to Desktop and then they attach fine.

As mentioned in the original post, the user IS the owner and the permissions are WIDE open for the user. I have also tried to disable the anti-virus - no luck. The problem is ONLY happening in Firefox. Chrome and IE work perfect. There is also no problem in Windows. The user can add/remove/edit files in the directory. Right now the solution seems to be to use Chrome. I'm not excited about that, but at this point, the only option.

  • Recommended browsers for Windows 2K using EBS

    Hi.
Note 285218.1 gives information on the minimum requirements Oracle asks for in order to certify the Internet Explorer 7 browser for use with EBS. There is clear informationon the requirements if users have Windows Vista, or XP.
There is no such informationin that document for users on Windows 2000. I will raise an SR for this but wanted to check if anyone knows of a Metalink doc that explains this.
    Thanks!
    DA

What release of EBS are you deploying?
The following notes references Windows 2000, but the requirements are much lower than you will want to have.
Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 11i (11.5.10.2)
    https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=316803.1
Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1
    https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=798258.1
I would consider 512 MB to 1 GB the absolute minimum unless the clients will not be running Outlook, Anti-Virus, or any other software concurrently with EBS browser sessions. If you plan to use busy forms like the Planner Workbench, they will need 200-300 MB of memory or the form will not open.
Mainstream support for Windows 2000 ended in 2005, so it would be a good idea to deploy a supported client desktop configuration.

  • Password action doesn't want to work on Windows browsers

As a few others have noted in this forum, the Password action which is (or was) provided with GoLive CS2 does not seem to work with IE7 browsers (or other browsers on Windows). When the user clicks on a link which contains the Password action, their browser jumps straight to the "You have not entered a password" or "Password incorrect" (I don't know the exact message because I'm on a Mac) without prompting the user to enter a password. Is there a replacement or fix for this action? (By the way, it still works perfectly on a Mac with any browser!)

I don't have a fix for you, but I can point you at an alternative method
that works in *all* browsers using a .htaccess file.

  • Can not reinstall Java 7 on Windows 8 x64

    Hi,
Restinstalling Java 7 opens a dialog box saying that Java is already installed and should be uninstalled first. When I click on Yes to go on with unstalling, I get a second msg box saying that this action is only valid on installed products.
I tried everything: running Cleansweep to clean the registry, running CCleaner for the same purpose. Using Cleansweep to delete manually the reg entries with name of value containing "java\", deleting any "java" directory on disk (in c:\program files, c:\program files (x86), c:\commonFiles, <user>\appData\localLow and I may forget deleted locations ... Finally rerun Cleansweep ...
The problem still remains and, unless I can solve it, I will have to do a clean install of the OS (will be Windows 7 since Windows 8 drives me mad, sorry).
Though, doing a clean install will cost me money, and 1 week of time !
Will some nice person save me from this huge work ?
    Thanks in advance !
    Jean-Pierre

    Hello,
It is odd that you are seeing a dialog saying it needs to be removed. Can you post a screenshot of that?
If a particular update version is already installed, regardless of the build number in the case of EA builds, you will see a message saying that it is already installed, you can then continue or cancel.
Why is it that you were trying to reinstall? As you called out the 64bit OS it may be the case that a 64bit JRE was installed and the JRE is not working in the 32 browser. I mention this as this is a common case.  Really only IE has a 64bit browser for Windows, Chrome and Firefox are do not provide production 64bit browsers and thus the 64bit plugin will not run in those browsers. Windows 8 as a bit more of a hurdle as Java must be run on the desktop rather then the start screen and the 32bit browser, as I recall, is the default.  Java.com will not provide the 64bit JRE unless a 64bit browser is being used for just this reason. Here are a few links that cover this:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-asked-questions
You can obtain the 32bit JRE from https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
To complete the uninstall there are some steps you can try this first:

Only if the above does not work... registry changes, be careful, back up the registry!

  • Version 10.0.42.34 crashes all browswers on Windows 7

The latest version of Flash crashes all browsers on Windows 7 home premium and I can't get 10.0.32.18 to install because it says it's not the latest version.
I have downloaded and run the stand alone uninstaller and rebooted and no luck.
How does the program know there is a newer version when it's not connected to the internet?
This is extremely frustrating for my wife who uses Flash on her blog and so do many of her blogger friends and she can't go to any site with any browser that has flash without the browser freezing. She is forced to close the program.
It's frustrating to me since I am a software developer and very advanced user and I can't solve this problem for her.
This is a brand new Dell Studio 1555 with 4 GB of Ram running Windows 7 Home Premium and Internet Explorer 8 (32-bit), Firefox 3.5.5, and Chrome 3.1.195.38.
My Dell 1720 running Windows 7 Ultimate using Flash 10.0.32.18 works fine but I can't install it on this machine.
Is there any relief on the horizon?
I think Adobe has had plenty of advanced notice of Windows 7 to have a 64-bit version.  I'm not the only one have this problem either. I have found many other forums with people reporting the same problem with the latest version of flash regardless of the OS or browser.
Why doesn't Adobe allow users to "easily" installl older versions? This is just stupid.
    Please help.

Solved my own problem. The uninstaller does not completely remove everything. It leaves a registry setting.
You need to delete the following registry entry to allow an older version to install properly.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayerUpdate
Delete the entire FlashPlayerUpdate key will allow 10.0.32.18 to install without the "This is not the latest version" message.
I don't really understand why companies still use the registry and even worse, don't clean up there programs properly during uninstall.
This information should really be more readily available to users.
    Thanks for nothing.

  • I cannot move, resize, minimize, or close the browser window despite everything inside the window still working.

I don't know what details are needed so I'll just rattle off anything that I can think of.
I am running an Asus laptop with windows 7. I have never had an issue with firefox in the past (beyond the usual freezing and some obvious issues with pop up ads that are par for the course with firefox since adblocker never does what it says.... not really. Lets be honest.) I am using Avast for my virus protection and it is also up to date.
My issue started about an hour ago when firefox stopped responding. The video I had playing kept going but I could not interact with anything. Assuming the program froze for the billionth time that week I rebooted it. This has always solved freezing issues in the past. Now, however, firefox is doing something new.
I can access the menus and almost everything on the window itself except for the minimize/maximize/close buttons, I cannot move the window at all, and I cannot manually resize it. I have also noticed that although videos will play, I can only click on their buttons if there is another smaller window overtop of firefox. The video controls will only appear that way and when I click them firefox naturally comes to the front and the video responds with the button I used but the buttons are gone again and I cannot resume playing without the smaller window back in front to make the buttons show again.
It's as if half of firefox is frozen while the other half is still running somehow.
I have no themes that could be causing this. Literally none. I only use firefox for the things that can no longer be opened in Opera so I have no need for any theme beyond default. The only addons I installed on purpose were adblockers (lord knows why. they don't DO anything.) though several other random things seem to have been installed over time to aid in one thing or another. Various plugins and players and versions of java, that sort of thing. But I have everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) in the addon menu disabled.
I have tried booting it up in safe mode (the program, not windows) and the problem is still there except now it won't show the menu bar at all unless I press the alt key first and even then it wont let me actually click on anything in the menu bar. When I try the whole bar vanishes. I had to close firefox with the task manager.
Rebooting will fix the issue for about 15 seconds before it all comes back.
Any attempts at updating have failed as it says I am already up to date on everything so I don't know what its issue is.
It's not an urgent issue right now as most of what i need to do can be done on the half screen window I am using, but some of my sites have buttons that literally vanish in anything but full screen and I imagine that this will be a much greater annoyance within a few days.

After following all the instructions given, I poked around safe websites as suggested. I am not sure why this step was needed, as websites functioned rather normally before I came here but I did it anyways and found that the websites still work the same as they did. I can still do everything I used to be able to do. I see no change in the function of the websites.
However, I still cannot resize, close, or move the browser window. I don't know if Netflix is a safe site or not (too many conflicting opinions on that one from the masses) so I don't know if the issue with the vanishing buttons is still there, but all the issues I had with the browser window itself is still there.
Even in safe mode the browsers three window control buttons on the top right refuse to let me use them and the window itself will refuse to be moved around.

  • When i use pogo, on the risk game for instance, when i click on a game room, a window pops up and immdediately reduces in size, this size only shows part of the battle screen; i have tried resetting the zoom feature, no luck.

i have seen this before on my home PC (on a lap top now) it is impossible for me to correct so i have to use IE to play pogo (i dont like IE it is slower) i click on a game, i go to a game room, and a window normally pops up showing the tables. normally i click on a seat and it takes me to a new window and the game board. NOW, when this first window pops up, it is aboout 1/4 size of my screen, but immediately reduces in size to about 1/6 of my screen. wnen the game loads, i cannot view the whole screen only part of the screen, as if it is zoomed in. I tried your suggestion and reset the zoom, no help.... i changed the zoom level manally.... no help.
this also happens in scrabble and most other games. it is related to the java i am sure, but it only happens on firefox. How do i correct this. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled firefox. i have had this happen on the older version of firefox. it happens on multiple computers so it isnt just one computer.
    HELP!!!!!
    please

I should have explained further. The game opens in a new window over to the upper left of my screen, leaving the original page underneath. I tried minimizing it so that I could get to my toolbar and did the View > Zoom > Reset. This has no effect. The lower portion of the game is still not showing. Using other browsers the window or frame of the game is much larger, therefore everything shows.

  • New Window Opening Behind Browser Window

I have produced a page in DW3 for an artist where you click

Usually the user/browser decides where new windows/tabs will
    be opened.
But why open a new window at all? Why not use something like
    Litebox?
