Browsers not opening certain parts pages
I am having a problem accessing parts of certain sites with Safari as well as other browsers from my desk top. (Which is still running 10.5 at the moment.)
As an example, on the macconnection.com web site, I tried to look at printers. I go to printers and click on laser printers only. I go to a drop down menu and click where it says more manufactures. On this page I check the printers I am interested in looking at and try to click select. Nothing happens.
The bar at the bottom says: javascript:_doPostBack('ctl00$Content$btnSelectBottom'") when I move the arrow over the select button.
Here is the interesting part. The same thing happens on almost all my other browsers: Camino, Firefox, Seamonkey, Flock, Shiira, iCab, and Google Chrome (Development). It, however, does not happen with Opera. Also, it is just a problem on my desktop. Camino and the others work fine on my laptop. I am wondering what all the other browsers use in common that Opera doesn't and most importantly, how to fix it. I would rather not have to do a clean reinstall of the system just to fix this problem.

Why isn't Safari opening certain web pages?
If you are using any non-Apple "anti-virus" software, uninstall it according to its instructions and do not reinstall it.
There are a variety of other potential reasons for that message. First try restarting your Mac in "Safe Mode" (see below). Attempt to load the same webpage again. If that works it will reduce the number of potential causes.
Determine if the problems also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well. -
Safari and Firefox will not open certain web pages
I just bought a MacBook yesterday and since then have not been able to open certain websites using firefox or safari. I have been trying to access www.recolorado.com and www.people.com and keep getting the error that the page timed out because server is not responding. I called apple support yesterday and was told to reinstall the operating system which did not help. My husband has a PC that is connected to the same internet connection and he can open these sites with no problem. I have tried resetting safari, but still can't get to these sites. Does anyone have any suggestions??
I was having the same problem and it was driving me INSANE because every solution I found on the internet said "just use Firefox!" (my default browser). It doesn't matter whether it's Firefox, Safari, Netscape, Opera, whatever, the computer was NOT accessing these sites. It seemed to coincide with a recent OS update, but maybe that's just my imagination.
Then my sister-in-law came over with her totally identical MacBook and complained of having the exact same problem accessing the same sites!
On top of this, I had no problem accessing these on my iMac in Chicago last week (running the same OS and software), so I concluded it had to be our router.
In my case, it was solved by simply rebooting the router. Have you tried this? It seems so simple, but now I can access every site that I was having trouble with. You might have to reconfigure something on your router, I don't know much about this. But my general conclusion is that something was wrong with the way the MacBook and router were communicating. Sorry I can't be more specific! -
None of my web browsers will open certain web pages
I used to use safari but now it wont open myspace.com or facebook.com. Everytime i open the page the login page is visible but seconds after safari shuts out. A box pops up saying The application safari quit unexpectedly Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. I have downloaded firefox but it does the same thing. I will have nothing else open at the time. Computer says its version is a Mac OS X 10.4.6 I have been able to open these pages before...then it was i couldnt get to the photo download page(it would do this) now its the homepage.

Is there any reason why you have never updated your OS from 10.4.6 to 10.4.11?
Chief suspect is the FlashPlayer.
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.

Wiki Pages - Open Web Part Page in maintenance view
I am trying add custom .aspx pages to a SharePoint 2010 Document Library. When I try to edit properties for those pages, the edit page shows "Open Web Part Page in maintenance view to delete problem Web Parts and remove personal settings.

The page displays
The are currently no Web Parts associated with any Web Part Zones on this page. Web Parts added to the page outside of a Web Part Zone will not appear in this list.
I don't do anything with the maintenance view because there are no Web Parts to delete.
As a test, I save the content of the custom.aspx page as a text file, custom.txt. The edit properties displays just fine.
Another test, I save the content as custom.htm. The edit properties displays just fine.
I try many variations of saving the content of custom.aspx with various html tags and even no tags at all. One version just has the text,"test" in the page. Save error:
Open Web Part Page in maintenance view to delete problem Web Parts and remove personal settings. Open Web Part Page in maintenance view."
Going down another path, I try to compare the source of this aspx page with other SharePoint aspx pages. One test is the Wiki Page. All Wiki pages display the same message on my farm. Is this a known issue with Wiki Pages?

As another point of comparison I opened the Edit Properties part within an Office 365 Wiki. Same message.

I could reproduce this issue if I uploaded a .aspx page into a library and edited its properties.
Then I went to Site Pages library, and select a page and edit its property, the same message also showed like the screenshot:
It seems that the message will show when we edit the properties of a page no matter which library we upload it to, it seems to be by design.
In addition, if you want to upload a image into the thread, you can first upload the image into OneDrive, then copy and paste the URL of the image here.

Can not open any web page in Safari
can not open any web page in Safari on the IPad. All other wireless features work fine.
If this does not work then try a reset ,
Reset your iPad by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPad will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.

Thanks, At least I know I am not the only one. I have had nothing but problems down loading Lion. First I did not have enough memory so I spent $128 for up grade to 4 GB. Then I down loaded Lion and it crushed my disc and spent another $181 to up grade to a T1. Then down loaded Lion to find out a lot of bugs with it. For what was to cost me $29.95 end up costing me $339.
You would think I would learn by now not to up grade at once. I am one of the dummies that spent $699 for the first iPhone for them too drop the price weeks later.
If I figure out answer I will post for you asap. -
My wi-fi connection is enabled, however Safari is telling me the server stopped responding. My laptop is working fine on the same wi-fe network. I have reset the network settings and still Safari will not open any web pages. Help!
Ralph..........Did as you suggested and I am still getting the message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". I am not able to connect with anything on the Internet. Frustrating since I am able to connect with my laptop. Thanks for the suggestion.

safari will not open certain web sites with https or http,any help will be welcome,it must be a security setting,but i have not changed any settings.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Exensions tab.
If there are any installed, switch the button to off, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If there is more than one extension insalled, uninstall one a time, quit and relaunch Safari and test. -
Safari won't open certain web pages

I can't get Safari to open certain web pages. This has only been the case for the last week or so, I could happily view them before.
2 examples are : www.facebook.com and www.quaysws.co.uk

to open in both Safari and Firefox. Mind you at the same time, I cannot get Apple.com to open in Safari I'm running Leopard with Safari 3.0.4. Whoa Safari just decided that Apple.com does exist and opened it without me first having to restart the computer. Safari definitely has some bugs but you may want to make sure that you don't have any 3rd party add-ons set up and you may have to reinstall. -
Firefox will not open to home page as set in the settings. Even in safe mode, it still will not open to home page as directed. It seems to want to open to last set of tabs, even though that is not the way it was set in settings. It seems as though the settings do not have any impact on the way it behaves!!!
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Can i hide "Open Web Part Page in maintenance view" link when editing wiki page properties
I am working on an Enterprisewiki site collection inside SP 2013, and currently when contributor users edit the wiki page properties by going to "Page Option >> Edit Properties" , then will find the following link, named "Open Web Part

Try making separate desktop icons for the Editor and Organizer. You can then launch directly. The standard desktop icon is for the welcome screen which often runs in the background or doesn’t shut down properly.
Start by right-clicking on the desktop and select:
New >> Shortcut
Then browse to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13
Inside the Photoshop Elements 13 folder make sure you select the application (not a shortcut) by scrolling down to the files beginning with the letter P and highlighting ‘PhotoshopElementsEditor’
Then click next followed by finish.
You can repeat for the Organizer using the different file path.
New >> Shortcut
Then browse to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 13 Organizer
Highlight ‘PhotoshopElementsOrganizer’
Then click next, followed by finish.
Now that you have your separate desktop icons you can delete the one for the welcome screen, if preferred. On Mac try launching directly from Applications. [if not using PSE13 substitute your own version and go to Program Files (x86)] -

I need to install iWork 9 on my new iMac that currently has Pages 5.2 which will not open my older Pages docs. I do not want the 5.2 to interfere with the opening of my docs in the 9. How do I ensure this without removing the 5.2 (that might improve with age)? If I rename the 5.2 for now, will that work? Thank you for any assistance.
Just install iWork '09 and make sure you update it to the latest v4.3:

You can run both Pages '09 and Pages 5.2 but will need to right click on your files to open them with the right version, because all Pages files have the same file extension: .pages.
