Browsers slow/not working behind work proxy/firewall

Everything works great at home. At work, Exchange is fine, getting to local servers is fine, but using any browser is hit and miss. I get 20+mb download speed using speakeasy.net, but in another tab, web pages will not load/ partially load or take forever to load. At other times it works fine. Sometimes closing Safari and opening it up again will work for a few minutes, then problems. I have the same problem with Firefox and Chrome. The problem is the same with Ethernet and Airport.
Iv'e reset Safari, repaired permissions, but the problems still persist. At work, PC's and old Macbooks are using Safari flawlessly. I'm stumped as to why just my machine is having problems.

This sounds like it may be an entry with your employer's connection to the Internet where established links work fine but opening new links is slow - perhaps due to a slow DNS server.

  • Using Webstart behind a proxy firewall

    Hi,
According to http://www.vamphq.com/jwsfaq.html#proxylogin if one uses Webstart behind a proxy firewall and one enters the wrong password, Webstart will not reprompt. Has this changed in Tiger or does this problem still occur? Does Webstart automatically import proxy settings from the browser in Webstart? To my understanding plain-application does not auto-import.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Gili

If you have a Domina Name registered.Install IAS or OAS as your web server. Use NAT on your firewall to point to the illegal IP address. Make sure that there is a Domain Name Server somehwere on the Internet pointing to your Legal IP address for your domain name. If you don't have a domain name, you will still do everything the IAS/OAS setups, but you will have to type your Legal IP address into the browser to connect.

  • Adobe Exchnage not working behind organisation proxy

I am asked to enter my Adobe credential every time I try to download any extension but nothing happens when I enter my user id and password and click on the login button. The process just goes away with "Loggin in..." message and just hangs displaying "Logging in..." message. My computer is based behind the proxy (something I can't change) so how do I download ANY extension when I can't even login. I can easily login to my account page on Adobe website but can do it from Photoshop when I try using Adobe Exchange form.
    Any suggestions?
    John

    Hi John,
Can you tell me what operating system you're using, and what version of Photoshop (CC, CS6..?)? Also, are you able to successfully login using the Creative Cloud desktop app? Free Creative Cloud | Download Adobe Creative Cloud free trial
If you can successfully login with some other desktop software, you should be already logged-in when the Exchange panel loads.

  • How to change Script path for Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd when working behind reverse proxy?

    Hi,
My application works behind a reverse proxy which has polices for secure and unsecure areas of the application. Architecture and Infra team is not willing to allow any root level policies in any case
When report viewer control is rendered on the page, it is adding a reference to the http handler Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd in the script tag and the URL is at the root level. Unfortunately like other AjaxControlToolkit web resources I cannot modify
the URL to refer to the local script using ScriptManager.
Do we have any other property / means by which I can get this altered.
It is so unfortunate that the Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms assembly resources like scripts etc are not exposed as webresource at the assembly level and there is no way to modify this.
Does anyone has any solution to this?
    Appreciate your help
    Thanks in advance

  • Does icloud notes synchronization work behind a proxy

Basically all icloud syncing works with the exception of notes behind our corporate proxy server.
Reminders, contacts, calendar all work fine.
Just notes that doesn't, if I turn off proxy and go on to guest wirless which has direct connection it works fine.
Has anyone else got the same issue?
Have tired using http web proxy settings and proxy script as well

Similar problem: I noticed Notes is not updating to the iCloud properly. Are there any additional ports (TCP/UDP?) that need to be open to sync Notes to iCloud. I would welcome a technical answer to this problem that I can relay to our network people.

  • Mail.app not working behind Kerio proxy

I've configured my PB to login to our wireless network at work. I've set up the proxy configurations correctly (including username & pass) & tested to make sure Safari works, it's fine. Yet when I try to check my POP mail (Gmail), I get the following message:
The server "pop.gmail.com" cannot be contacted on port 995.
At my own wireless home network, it works just fine & I don't use a proxy server.
It seems to me that Mail.app isn't configured to pick up on the system proxy settings?
How can I fix this problem? Please help.

  • WMP Plugin Won't Work Behind University Firewall

Hey people, I'm working behind a university firewall that blocks everything except http and https at the moment. I can't get any of my streaming audio to work when it loads in the Windows Media Player plugin, but streams work fine when I'm using Quicktime or Flash plugins.
My question is, is there a way to choose Quicktime as the default plugin? I mean, I know most of my streams will work on either WMP or QT, but most go straight to WMP. WMP streams work fine on other people's windows machines, which just annoys me more. Any suggestions?

    Hello Stephen:
Many (including me) use a free download called "Flip4Mac." That plug in permits WMP files to be played in Quicktime. In fact, Microsoft has dropped support for WMP on Macs and, as I recall, actually provided a link to Flip4Mac.

  • How to configure C.C. in a proxy/firewall/enterprise environment?

Looking for some answers: It seems that Adobe Application Manager does not currently work with proxies. Is this correct?
It also seems that the Creative Cloud packager also does not work behind a proxy nor does any automatic updates. What are some options for those in an enterprise environment? From what I've read and have been told via tech support, not much at all.
It seems that if we install Creative Cloud on our machines, we have to download and manually install the updates? That's not very "cloud" like.

I am not sure if this can help but we opened these endpoints and now we have acces to everything:

  • Flash Upload from behind a proxy

    Hi,
I am working behind a proxy and some of the flash uploaders
out there require me to authenticate myself on the local proxy
before allowing me to upload files. I have such an uploader which
currently is outside my network. However after it tryes to execute
file.upload(request); it dies silently without a trace of what is
going on. I presume that it fails because it hasn't requested the
proxy auth. How can I show the proxy auth login pop-up. Here's a
    sample of my code
    Thank you for your help,
    Cosmin

Allow the box to bypass the proxy server, at least temporarily and for purposes of testing this.
This bypass test will allow you to determine if this is the proxy connection, or something within the box or the SUS configuration.
Or permanently, following the "if it hurts, don't do it" model.

How can I configure messages to work behind my proxy. Usually there is a proxy to put the proxy information in via the application but I am unable to find this field in messages on mountain lion.

There have been quite a few requests on here concerning the very same problem but with the Messages beta -- I was hoping that the "official" release of Messages would somehow solve the problem but I guess it didn't…!?
Let's hope that either Apple fixes this known problem with an update or that someone comes up with a decent workaround…!

  • IChat AV does not work behind firewall even after opening up correct ports

Hi. I am trying to get my iChat setup so that I can do video and audio. It works fine when my mac is directly plugged into the cable modem. When I plug it into my firewall it will not connect. I have read many online manuals and forums and I have tried opening many ports etc on the fire wall. I am using a MBP thats running the latest software. This is clearly an external firewall issue because my MBP works fine without the firewall.
Here is what I have forwarded.
Ports to Open on Firewall.... BOLD LAN ports only.
    TCP: 5220, 5222, 5223
    UDP: 5060, 5297, 5353, 5678, 16384-16403
    TCP/UDP: 5180, 5190, 5298
    according to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1507
It attempts to connect then fails. I have run it in terminal to try to catch the error logs and figure out what is going on. I have the complete error logs from three seperate attempts if that would help.
The firewall is a FreeBSD based firewall running pfsense. It is also controlling DHCP. My MBP is connecting to the network via a Time Capsule which has been set to not do DHCP and instead forward to the firewall/router. When my MBP connects it is always assigned the same IP based on its mac address. All the firewall rules are set to that IP. Any idea whats going on here?

I opened all of the right ports. it seems my firewall was randomizing outgoing ports as a security feature and this was messing with the SIP protocol creating a successful connection. I set my outgoing port to be static and now everything works fine!

  • Help not working behind proxy with authentication

    Hello,
Clicking Help within a CS5 app brings up the error:
Our school is behind a proxy with authentication.
What I'd like to do is download the help files and put it on a local server.
Then I'd like to edit the main help config (where is this?) to point there.
I've seen posts where it talks about %appdata%\chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1\ but we have hundreds of users and editing anything in this path is not feasible.
Please could you help in showing me where the original files are that make up the appdata chc folder so that I can edit this config at SOURCE and that any user that logs on will have a correct CHC folder made up pointing to the correct location.
    I appreciate anyone's help.
    Thanks for your time,
    Jonathan

Hi Jonathan:  there is a list of HTML and PDF files for download here: http://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotraining/2010/08/help-documents-for-creative-suite-5-pdf -and-html.html
The help config files are located in the directories indicated below -- however, you did mention that editing those files is not feasible.  So, I'm not sure if this the right solution for you ... We are resolving this in the next CS release, however, I understand that this is not much of a consolation/solution for you right now.
    Windows: %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
Tip: To find this directory in Windows, copy the preceding phrase into the Windows Explorer file manager.
    Mac OS: /[username]/Library/Preferences/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
