Browsing doesn't connect even with 5 bars

My iPhone 3G here in the UK often can't connect to the internet and even when their are five bars of reception. Anyone know what's going on?

In addition to making sure you do have a data connection (via 3G or EDGE) another good troubleshooting step to try would be to reset network settings as well as making sure your iPhone software is up to date using iTunes. To reset network settings, navigate to Settings > General > Reset on your iPhone.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, you may want to contact your wireless carrier in regards to the situation.

    Some things to try first:

    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Ipod Touch 5G- WiFi is very slow or won't work, even with 3 bars and stood next to the hub. Is there a problem with iOS 6.0.1? Any one know a way to fix it?

    Even with 3 signal bars on a 11mb/s connection. It takes more then 3 mintues to load Google fully!
    It works fine loading one page then goes back to being slow or no excitant. It seems to start working again after using speed test.
    At first i thought it was the case but after removing it there was no difference
    I have tried every thing i could think like:
    1. Turing it off and on again
    2. A complete restore and backup. (Done this about 3 times)
    I'm not sure if the new iOS 6.0.1 up date has caused this as it seemed to work fine for about a week after.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    I have same problem:
    I saw another topic on this but it was a couple of months old. Last month I purchased a ipod touch 5g. It runs great except the speedtest tops out at about .3 mbps down and 5 mbps up.  I don't understand what is going on. All my other wifi: Macs, ipod touch 4, ipad 2 & 3, etc work fine and get great speed of 9-15 mbps down and 5 mbps up. I can barely watch an Amazon video. Sometimes it goes fast but that is few and far between. I have tried resetting the network on it. I adusted my router for all the recomendations by Apple.
    It was suggested to remove the security on the router just to test it. I did that but it made no difference. This happens whether I'm close (10' or less) or farther away. Is there something I'm missing or do I need to return it?
    I keep seeing something about iOS 6.0.2 but my iPod Touch says I'm up to date at 6.0.1

  • AirPlay Mirroring doesn't work even with the specified hardware/software

    Hello,
    I have a late 2011 (OS X 10.7.5) MBP and a Sep  2012 Apple TV (MD199LL/A) with the updated software 5.1.
    AirPlay Mirror icon doesn't appear in the menu bar.
    No options/icons or texts related to AirPlay mirroring in System Preferences > Displays either. Checked detect displays, still no.
    Updated all the software in both the MBP and the Apple TV on Oct 6th 2012 late evening/night and restarted both a couple of times, still no signs of AirPlay Mirror icon or option.
    BTW, AirPlay works with iTunes, so I can hear music from MBP on my TV.
    AirPlay Mirroring works with the latest iPad (as of Sep 2012) as well.
    I think one or two people have reported this issue on the forum in response to some question/discussion. Thought it deserved starting a new topic in case some Apple folks are listening.
    Perhaps their adverstising or guidelines need an update to remove references of AirPlay mirroring working with 2011 or newer MBPs. Perhaps they meant 2012 or newer?

    To be honest I use mine mainly near power and juice up when I can so I don't test the battery too heavily, so I haven't noticed but would probably not.
    If mirror is the only thing you want to do but don't want ML look at third party apps such as airparrot or reflectorapp (I hvae used airparrot and found it OK).

    My laptop can't connect the internet through my WRT54G router.  It detects it, it has 5 green bars, and I'm right next to the router but it doesn't want to go on the internet.  All my wires are plugged in.  I just don't know what to do...Please help.

    Connect your Laptop hard wired to the router and check if you have Internet...If you don't have Internet, it means your router is not configured and you need to configure the router...
    If your Internet Service Providor is Cable follow this link

    If you have Internet Access on your Laptop when it is hard wired, then click start and goto the Control Panel and double click on Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection and click on Properties.
    Now on this window, click on the second tab Wireless Network and give a check mark on "Use windows to configure my wireless" and then remove all the network names present in the Preferred Networks Window. Then click on OK...
    Right click on the Wireless Network Connection again and click on View Available Wireless Networks and try to re-connect to your network...

    It will connect...
    If the above fails click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>>Network
    Connections- Right click on the icon for Wireless network connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select Obtain IP Address Automatically...See if you have Internet Access...
    If all the above fails, then, click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway and post the results...

  • Sometimes lose connection even though wireless bar is full

    I have Mountain Lion on my macbook and i have had a clean install. Even though i have couple of problems. My most iportant one is, connection problem.
    Sometmes after 3 hours, sometimes after 2 hours i lose my connection to internet, but the wireless bar still looks full. Temporariy solution of this problem for me is just closing and opening the wireless. After that it works perfectly. But this happens all the time. Somestimes my download is interrupted and i have to download all over again. Can someone help me with this problem please?

    None of these two worked for me. Yesterday wireless worked fine but today after using the macbook for half hour my connection was lost but wifi bar was still full.
    Also i tried to forget my router's connection from my macbook but it ddin't do that. I opened the keychain menu but there were no network password to delete.
    İ think i also made a stupid comment about my problem. I'm new to mac system and i thought airport is kind of a software. But it seems that it's a hardware. So there can't be any problem with it. I thought airport utility will recognize my router (any brand it is) and can do some modification on it.

  • Mountain Lion Email doesn't work even with 10.8.1 update!

    My mail application completely failed shortly after the upgrade to Mountain Lion. None of the user advice has repaired it from these forums, so I have now resigned myself to using my ipad and iphone to conduct all my business emails. I was hopeful that this first 10.8.1 update from Apple would restore the my mail application. I can frustratingly report that no, it certainly hasn't. No change in fact. I click on the mail app and the beachball of death continues for about 5 minutes then it comes up with a message 'there is a problem with your mailboxes' with the option to quit or quit and rebuild index. If I choose that latter, the beachball resumes it's rotation forever or until I hard reset the machine as all other programs crash at this point. Apple, please help FAST, this is no way to run a business!!!!

    Agreed, but I think that for most Mail seems to be working fine. There don't seem to many posts complaining about Mail problems - well no more than usual.
    Have you tried a Safe Boot which sometimes helps in solving odd problems. and if that doesn't help, re-installing the OS using the Recovery HD?

    For a Safe Boot restart holding down the shift key until you see a grey progress bar. Once booted restart as normal from the Apple menu.

    Actually in a place where there is no wifi. I am able to use internet with my mobil. Infortunatly spotify connection doesn't work, asking for an internet connection! Any clue?

    Try turning Airplane Mode On/Off
    Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    Try Reset Network Settings
    Try a new SIM card

  • Why does firefox "close" when I close the window but the process doesn't shutdown even with the upgrades since problem was reported.since i had updated to FF25

    Frequently after I have been viewing numerous sites on firefox, when I close down the last window and try to reopen firefox, I am told that the program is already running and needs to be shut down. Using Task Manager is not useful, since task manager doesn't show the program as up and running. The only way to get the program to close so it can be used for a different subject is to reboot the computer. This is happening 10 - 12 times a week now, and gradually getting worse. This closes out everything I have open, making it necessary to save all opened files BEFORE I reboot, and then going back to reopen all of them. None of the other questions I've seem point to this particular quirk in the problem.

    This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up.

  • Euro-sign (and Greek) doesn't work even with nchar/nvarchar2

    This is something that has been blocking me for a few days now, and I'm running out of ideas.
    Basically, the problem can be summarised as follows:

    Make ¿¿¿ fast!See, I was under the impression that by using nchar and nvarchar2, you avoid the problems you get with character sets. What I need this for is to check (in PL/SQL) what the length of a string is in 7-bit units when converted to the GSM 03.38 character set. In that character set, there are 128 characters: mostly Latin characters, a couple of Greek characters that differ from the Latin ones, and some Scandinavian glyphs.
    Some 10 other characters, including square brackets and the euro sign, are escaped and take two 7-bit units. So, the above message takes 17 7-bit spaces.
    However, if I make a PL/SQL function that defines an nvarchar2(128) with the 128 standard characters and another nvarchar2(10) for the extended characters like the euro sign (the ones that take two 7-bit units), and I do an instr() for each character in the source string, the euro sign gets converted to an upside-down question mark, and because the delta (the first Greek character in the GSM 03.38 character set) also becomes an upside-down question mark, the function thinks that the euro sign is in fact a delta, and so assigns a length of 1.
    To try to solve it, I created a table with an nchar(1) for the character and a smallint for the number of units it occupies. The characters are entered correctly, and show as euro signs and Greek letters, but as soon as I do a query, I get the same problem again. The code for the function is below:

    Well, the person there used a varchar2, whereas I'm using an nvarchar2. I understand that you need the right codepage and such between the client and the database if you use varchar2, which is exactly the reason why I used the nvarchar2.
    However, if I call the function from /Java/, it does work (I found out just now). But this doesn't explain why SQL Developer and Toad are being difficult, and I'm afraid that, because this function is part of a much bigger application, I'll run into the same problem.

    I don't believe this is a "Contribute" issue at all.  I'm having the same problem with a .PDF of my own that I've published to the Web and I'm not using that software. 
    I had one original .pdf file that had no bookmarks.  Bookmarks were then added to the doc and resaved.  On the new version I have the document's file properties set to open bookmarks on initial view.  The document opens fine locally on my computer, but when I publish to the web (not using contribute), and then try to open the .pdf via hyperlink it opens in MSIE and the bookmarks do not appear on initial view.  It's driving me crazy.
    I'm wondering if this is some sort of adobe cache issue?  Where it's opening the document like the original?  Or if it's something to do with MSIE?  I have already cleared my browser cache and I also updated my adobe acrobat preferences to NOT restore last view settings when opening documents. 
    I have tried adding #pagemode=Bookmarks to the end of the URL to the doc...
    Everything I've read and researched on line tells me I have done all I can do.  Are we just $#!+ out of luck here or what's the deal Adobe?

  • Long history of mail working well in variety of places, failure to send or receive mail even with 3 bars in CA

    I've been using my phone for mail for years. It has worked well, even when I had no access to wireless service (albeit slower). On trip to CA in Berkeley it has stopped sending or receiving emails on any of my three mail accounts.  Checked the settings and all seem reasonable. I'm getting 3 bars here (surprised so few in major CA city).
