Browsing iphoto library on 7.1.3 on adobe bridge??

Ever since I've upgraded to leopard and ilife 08 I cannot browse my iphoto library through any browsers or search tabs? If I click on the icon it will only let me browse through iphoto...
I can right click and "view package contents" but not through adobe bridge? What happened? Why can I not browse the Modified and original folders like I used to??

Bridge and iPhoto DO NOT play well together - you can not use Adobe bridge with iPhoto
Why can I not browse the Modified and original folders like I used to??
the iPhoto library is a UNIX style package now for complete access info read TD's post in this thread - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1371662&tstart=15

  • Browsing iPhoto library (stored in the cloud) from iPhone

    Dear Apple community geeks,
Can you please suggest the best solution for the below:
I have my iPhoto library stored in the cloud (CrashPlan) and a personal NAS (Synology).
I'd like to view pictures of this library from my iPhone without losing the library structure (Projects, Albums..).
So far, browsing via available apps, I'm only left with the classical "folder structure" of the iPhoto library (as if I'd "show package contents").
Any good option with my current set-up? If not, would (at least) iCloud make this possible?
    Many thanks!
    Petr

I have taken off the unwanted apps from iTunes but they still show on my iPhone. Go to App Store > Updates > Purchased > and the unwanted Apps are under both "All" and "Not on this Iphone" tabs. There is a little cloud with a down arrow so I can redownlaod it to my phone but, I want to remove some all together. It is hard to scroll thru all of them to find Apps that you may use on special occasion. Can I get rid of the in this location on my phone? And if so, How? Thanks

  • "Browsing" iphoto library in photoshopCS

This is driving me crazy: I two macs at home. Same Operating systems same software versions, etc. On one I can "browse'my iphoto library INSIDE photoshop cs and the other one I can't! By browse i mean the thumbnails come up in this pathway and are accessible. hard drive> users> my name> pictures> iphoto library, and yes it works. I have tried to compare the two computers in every detail to no avail. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thankjs

I have no idea why one works and another doesn't but that is certainly not the way to access the iPhoto Library with Photoshop or any other app.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Anytime you surf the Library with another app you risk damaging it.
    Regards
    TD

  • IPhoto '08 - can I browse "iPhoto Library" package with Terminal?

I have a need to access via Terminal the files and subfolders of the "iPhoto Library." As we know well, Apple made the iPhoto '08 library into a "package." I can right-click on the package, select "show package contents" and then browse via Finder as normal. Can I do the same in Terminal? I try to open the iPhoto Library package and I get an error that it is not a folder. Is there a command to open Apple package files?

In the Terminal, enter 'cd' without the quote marks, type a space, and then drag the package into the Terminal window.

  • Want to install Output Module in Adobe Bridge CC on Mac OS X, Version 10.9.2, but in my Library hierarchy there is no folder "Adobe Bridge CC Extensions".  Where install downloaded files?

    Hello,
Unfortunately, the output module is not pre-installed in Adobe Bridge CC anymore. So I downloaded the files provided. These are supposed to be saved in the following folder: "Bridge CC Extensions". This is supposed to be under Library > Application Support > Adobe > Bridge CC. However, there is no such folder. Do I have to create it?
Thank you for a hint on what to do.
    Best,
    Heike

Thank you for a hint on what to do.
Check this thread and read the instructions of the download carefully. You have two libraries, one at system level and one at user level.

  • Browse iPhoto library in your iPhone without syncing

I just have to share this application tip for all iPhoto and iPhone/iPod touch users.
I found an app (NetPhotos) that solves one of the most boring features in the iPhone, syncing iPhoto images with the USB-cable. I discovers iPhoto libraries on your local network automatically using Bonjour!
No installation required on the mac, just enable sharing in preferences in iPhoto!

Yes. But one big difference between NetPhotos and Simplify Photo is that you do not have to install anything on your mac to get it working. It is possible to reach your entire library through NetPhotos too, but you have to do port forwarding in your firewall. Simplify Photo is somewhat easier in internet sharing..

  • Elements 11 overides iphoto library

When I loaded elements 11 for mac on my macbook pro I can no longer access my pictures thru iphoto without using the opt/comm click method on the iphoto icon and the iphoto library is now empty and and Adobe has them all.  What happened? - Diana

You'll have to describe what's happening in more detail. PSE never automatically imports anything from iphoto unless you told it to. Were you using a referenced iphoto library, by any chance? There is absolutely no way that PSE would empty the iphoto library. Even the "from iPhoto" command makes duplicates, specifically to avoid ever writing into the iphoto library.
Did you ever use File>Open in any program recently and point it to your iphoto library?

  • IPhoto library not updated when viewing through web browser, why?

I post a lot of pics to my blog on Tumblr. When I do I go to Tumblr, choose "Photo" and it brings up the screen with the options. I click the universal "browse" button and it brings up the finder. I click on the "Photos" icon under the "Media" section and it brings up my iPhoto library. The problem is it will be missing the newest photos I've imported. I could have imported photos days earlier or just a few minutes ago they just aren't there to choose.
Of course on some days they are available and I can't figure out where the disconnect is. Anyone have a clue? This is not tied to any particular browser either, I've tried them all. I feel like the meta data file iPhoto keeps (is it an xml file or something?) is not being updated? I have no idea. Any help is appreciated. TIA!

Have you tried clearing your browser's cache? I find that sometimes (particularly with Safari) it is inclined to retrieve old pages from its cache rather than from the web.

  • How do I change the default iPhoto library for the Media Browser?

I have multiple Aperture/iPhoto Libraries. When I open the new Keynote and attempt to use the Media Browser to select a photo, the pictures the Media Browser displays are not from the Default Libary.
Is there a way to change the default photo library that the Media Browser references?

    Hello danstat,
Thank you for the question.  The Media Browser accesses iPhoto's last opened photo library.  To access that photo library through the Media Browser, quit Keynote, access that photo library in iPhoto, quit iPhoto, and relaunch Keynote.
You can access the an alternate photo library using these steps:
    To switch between photo libraries:
    Quit iPhoto.
Hold down the Option key as you open iPhoto.
Select the library you want to switch to.
    Click Choose.
iPhoto '11: Create a new iPhoto library or switch between libraries
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2505
Alternatively, you can drag the photo in directly to youre Keynote presentation from the iPhoto or Aperture windows.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Photo preview blank when browsing Aperture Library from iPhoto

    Hello to everyone,
I need to import in iPhoto some photo of my Aperture's Library, but when I open it from iPhoto I can see all the pictures exept the lastest that I've imported in the Aperture Library (that have been taken with a Canon EOS 550D with RAW format): I see a blank icon (that can I select and import in my iPhoto library) instead its preview.
In Aperture the Canon EOS 550D RAW format works correctly, but I can't see the preview of the image in the browser under iPhoto.
Can anyone help me solving this problem?
I have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (with all the updates) and the lastest versione of both iPhoto and Aperture.
    Thanks.
    Andrea

    Hi Terence,
thanks for the reply, but I've already regenerated all my previous (the entire library), but with no success.. I still continue to see a blank icon browsing the Aperture Library from iPhoto.
But I see that each time I enter in Aperture, it alway restart processing library (but only for some photos).. when it finish that process, I close Aperture and when I enter in it again, it restart processing the same photos.. again and again and again
    Any other suggestion?
    Regards.

  • Moved iPhoto library - how do I re-direct the media browser?

I've moved my iPhoto library to an external disk - how do I re-direct the iWeb media browser so that it looks in the right place (external drive) rather than still looking in the original location?
    Thanks!

I remember someone else trying this...moving their iPhoto library to an external drive. It works fine for iPhoto but not for the Media Browser, unfortunately. I think this person tried to create aliases and some other workarounds. But to no avail. You are probably better off not using the Media Browser anyway and instead exporting from iPhoto so that you can scale down your photos BEFORE using them in iWeb. This would avoid some issues with iWeb keeping HUGE copies of your images in the Domain file and in some cases (RSS blog/podcast) even uploading the HUGE files.

  • IPhoto library not updated in Finder browse window?

    Hi!
When I try to upload images from iPhoto to my blog, I more often then not find that the images I just uploaded aren't visible in the browse window from which I shall choose my files. The iPhoto latest import shortcut displays my second to last import, and it is not visible as a new event either. This doesn't happen every time though, sometimes it works. It's about 50/50 I'd say. In iPhoto the latest pictures are of course visible, so the workaround is to export the latest import to the desktop and choose the files from there. This is tedious though, so I'd really like to find a solution. Anyone got any ideas? Could it be some sort of indexing thing that prevents Finder from displaying an up-to-date representation of my library?
    All help greatly appreciated!
    Erik

click here for a discussion on the many correct and safe ways to access your iPhoto library photos.
Are you using the media browser in the lower left hand corner i the upload window? ip so try renewing your iPhoto preference file - A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • Can't browse to folders in iPhoto Library

    I recently purchased a 24" 2.8GHz iMac with iPhoto 8!
I am coming from a very old Mac with iPhoto 4.
I can no longer use Finder to browse to the folders that used to be a part of the iPhoto library
I can manually type in the path using the Finder's "Go to folder" feature, but that seems to be the only way and that's pretty inefficient!
I makes it very difficult to browse to specific photos using other programs as well.
    Any help "fixing" this?

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Where is the iPhoto library stored and how can I browse to it in Finder?  The "Photos" option is not showing up on the left hand side.

I created an app using Automator to batch resize my photos.  When I take photos with my iPhone 4s the resolution is so big I can't upload them to a web site, so I can select all the photos in an event and resize them down.  It's too time consuming to open each one in Preview and resize it manually.  This little app works perfectly!
Here's the only thing I'd like to change - when the app starts up it asks which photos I want to resize.  I'd love it to default to the iPhoto library so I can choose the most recent event.  But I can't for the life of me find it!  Normally there's a choice on the left hand side that says Photos and in the automator finder window, it's not showing up.  I've looked through all the folders I can think of and can't find it.
    Help!

You are not using iPhoto properly and are in danger of losing your photos
iPhoto is a SQP database application and there are NO user servicable parts in the database (by default the iPhoto library)  It is extremely important that you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the content (or structure) of the iPhoto library
The only safe (and suppoprted) way to resize photo is to select them and export using the various esize options in teh export dialogue and use those resized photos - this is a bathc process and does not involve Preview nor does it involve seperate processing for each photo
