Browsing Sub-Genres in the iTunes Store - Is it possible?

Hello,
I find it pretty confusing and difficult to drill down to a sub-genre. Perhaps it is something that I am missing or a preference that I have neglected to unable. But some content is really hard find, unless I use the specific track name or artist name.
Ideally, I am looking to do something like this:
- Enter the "electronic" genre in the iTunes store (which is so random and huge)
- Get a list of sub-genres like (trance, drum n bass, house, indie, dub step) etc...
- Drill down into one of the sub genres like "trance"
- Then, see all the sub-genres for trance like (melodic, vocal, progressive, epic) etc...
Is this type of navigation possible in the iTunes store? If so, I would love to figure out how to use it.
Thanks!

You may also wish to try out some specialty stores such as Juno Downloads which lets you directly browse to sub-genres of trance.

  • More Genres Button in iTunes Store Produces "Cannot Connect" Error

On my iPad 3 in the iTunes Store, clicking on the More button at top produces the "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store" blue error pop up. I can view purchases and play my music from ITunes Match, but can't see the other music genres In the store.
    Anyone else having this problem?
I've already tried a bunch of things: rebooted the ipad, logged out then back into iTunes, changed the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8, and set date ahead one year. I still can't see more music genres in the iTunes Store.

I've been getting the same error all morning, but only when trying to use the Redeem feature. I'm guessing it's just overloaded, but until someone can verify what the (-4) error actually is (dialog states it's an "unknown error") it's just a guess.
Have an e-mail in to iTunes Store support, but based on previous experience - not holding my breath for a reply.

  • Navigating the iTunes store. Where's the browse icon gone?

The used to be a browse icon, I'm sure. An eye symbol.
Where's it gone? I find it impossible to navigate the iTunes store unless I know what I want. There used to be a way to navigate by a list tree type thing: by genre, performer, etc... Has that function be lost?

Apple no longer sells games for any iPods except the touch. Sorry, but unless you already had them downloaded to your iTunes account, you can't get them now.

  • The iTunes Store app freezes on my iPhone when I try to browse my previous music purchases.

Basically, when I browse the purchased section of the iTunes Store app, I can't scroll at first at all. I let the list load for a bit, and it will let me scroll a little bit, but it then freezes again.  I've never been able to make it to the bottom of the list of purchased songs. The screen has some strange visual disturbances, like white bars or grey bars above or below the list when I try to scroll sometimes.
I realize it's a long list, probably about a thousand songs or so, but it seems like there should be a way to do this. When I try to scroll through my purchased apps from the App Store app, it's also very choppy, and not all the icons will load, but I can get through them all, maybe because I have purchase far fewer apps than music.
I have tried turning the phone on and off. But it's a new phone, so I wasn't planning on doing a restore just yet for a problem like this, which seems like it could just be a problem on Apple's end.
Just wondering if this a known issue or if anyone else has had this issue?

    Try a reset:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.
If it doesn't work, time for a restore.

  • Is there a way to view a Genre Column in the iTunes Store?

I have some file (That I did not download from iTunes). And their names were all messed up. But I was able to fix them by using the iTunes store and finding names, artist's, and etc. But when it came to Genres I could not find the Genre Column in the iTunes STORE. If you know a way to add a genre column in the iTunes store please tell me! Thank you!

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • TS1424 I updated latest ios on my ipod touch. Now when I go to the itunes store and browse for possible purchases it seems to shut off after only a short time for no reason. Help?

I updated the ios on my ipod touch. Now when I browse the itunes store on my ipod, it only allows a very brief visit before automatically closing me out. I have to go back into the store and begin searches etc all over again. Is this a setting or a problem that is randomly occuring? I use to look for hours. Any thoughts?

  • How do I browse and listen to music samples in the iTunes Store on Apple TV 2

I have an ATV2 and want to browse and listed to music samples in the iTunes Store as I did before, did this change or is there something that I need to setup to do this?
Why do I not see this feature?
    Thanks

You can't. This has never been possible on an ATV 2 as you can't purchase music on it. You can use home-sharing or airplay to stream local music or you can stream music via iCloud on ATV with iTunes Match subscription.

  • How to "Get Info" in the iTunes Store

In the usual part of the iTunes Store, you cannot "Get Info" about media, but there is another section where you can. First, find out the item's Genre or Category.
If it is Music, find out the Artist and Album.
If it is an Audiobook, find out the Author/Narrator.
If it is a Music Video, find out the Artist.
If it is a TV episode, find out the TV Show and the Season.
Go to the iTunes Store. Scroll to bottom. There are 4 columns. Under the 2nd column, Features, choose Browse. Choose the media type (Movie, Music, etc). Choose the Genre or Category. Next:
    if Music:
Choose All for a Subgenre. Choose the Artist. Choose the Album. Right-click on the desired song, and choose "Get Info."
    if Movie or App:
Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if Audiobook:
Choose the Author/Narrator. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if Music Video:
Choose the Artist. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if Podcast:
Choose All for a Subcategory. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if TV show:
Choose the TV Show. Choose the Season. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."

One stated to "search cmd, right click, and run as admininstrator" but where is this?
In the search field in your Vista start menu, type cmd
Next, right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".

  • HT1689 I can reach the iTunes Store from my iPod Touch, but it will not open on my PC running Windows 7.  Message shows that iTunes has stopped working.  This happens every time.  I have updated iTunes Software.  Will not solve the problem.  What is wrong

I have uninstalled iTunes several times and reinstalled it on my PC running Window 7 with all updated loaded.  When I click on the iTunes Store Box, Nothing happens except for a message that reads:
              iTunes has stopped working.
The following items give me a choice, but no answer comes up.  The computer will shut down the website.
"Check online for a solution and close the program"
              "Close the program."
There is an item below the box that is selectable for View problem details.  When clicked a long list of items show up.  I have listed some of the problems as written, but I do not understand them.  I know the iTunes Store has been available on earlier versions of of iTunes but is not on this version.  How can we go back and download an earlier version of iTunes?
Here are some of the Problem Details:
         "Problem signature:  APPCRASH
         Application Name:     iTunes.exe
         Application Version:  11.0.1.12
         Application Timestamp:  50c8fc7e"

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.

how can i use my apple ID with the itune store over my windows laptop

If you don't have iTunes installed on your laptop then you can download and install it from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can then log into your account on it via the Store > Sign In menu option (on iTunes 11 on a PC you can get the menus to show via control-B) :
And you can then select the Store on the left-hand sidebar (you can enable the sidebar via control-S), and then browse items in the store and buy them by clickin on their price.
