Browswer issues mountain lion

I have tried 2 times to upgrade, I have everything ready so there are zero incompatible programs after install. On both browsers firefox and safari some pages refuse to load right or break when refreshed. two right off the bat are sandals.com and msn.com
Yes I have tried open dns the host does resolve etc etc... I had to fall back to Lion and everything works as expected.
This is an upgrade not a clean install.
Thank you
Rob

Hi Robk1969 you are not alone and understand your frustration...actually you're right for some pages I was having Issues loading them then by clearing the cache the issue goes away however I have to do again after some days.
But my biggest problem is with pages that use Plug-ins such as FlashPlayer or Silverlight in pages like www.speedtest.net and www.netflix.com.  In the first one the upload test is never completed and in NetFlix the movies stop at 4% of download.
It seems like issue related to rights when the Plug-in process tries to Access certain types of files in Web Sites.
I tried to Play a little with the info.plist File of each of those plug-ins but I better stopped since I know at the end i will finish crashing my OS X Mountain Lion.
Now if I want to use Netflix then I use my Windows 7 in the Bootcamp partition that I have ... Which is sad.
O do not think this is issolated issue... I hope a fix soon from Apple or the plug-ins creators.

  • Font rendering issue / Mountain Lion / non Apple LCD display

    Hello
This font rendering issue or problem is probably well know by Apple crew too but nobody has solved it yet. Only poor solution are available such as try to adjust manually font rendering by writin some scripts concerning anti alias levels...they really dont solve the problem.
Could Apple bring us solution to this by developing or updating Mountain Lion?
So what is the problem: font rendering is very poor in Mountain Lion when using non Apple LCD. For example Fujitsu SL27T-1 LED (LCD displa) shows fonts very nice way in Windows but in Mac OS ML does not. Somebody told me that its about software vs. hardware rendering. Dont know about that but could you bring me the solution which is not advising me to buy Apple display (which is five times more expensive than other manufactures displays).
    Br
    M. Leino

just want to add that overall fonts look blurry and they are not very sharp.

  • Facetime Connection Issues - Mountain Lion

I upgraded to Mountain Lion - Facetime worked - it didn't before on Lion.
Symptoms are Facetime rings and then just sits there 'connecting...'
Thought the upgrade to Mountain Lion solved the problem, but now it's back! Have turned Facetime on and off, changed email address, changed DNS, all to no avail.
    Can anybody offer any suggestions?
    TIA
    Andrew

I'm having the same issue with a mid 2007 iMac.  I've deleted all the plist for facetime, logged in and out a few times, turned facetime on and off a few times, and restarted the system.  So, everytime I've tried to make a facetime call the receiving party's computer facetime program doesn't come on.  Everytime someone calls me via facetime on my iMac, the call will ring but never picks up.  Also, the receiving party's computer is another imac with lion.  Any ideas.  Thanks.

  • Issue Mountain Lion accessing WebDAV

    Dear beekeepers,
looks as if there might be an issue of Mountain Lion accessing beehive over WebDAV.
This [post |https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4139087?start=0&tstart=0] sounds very similar.
The post is talking about inserting a directive
    BrowserMatch "^WebDAVFS/2.0" redirect-carefully
into the WebDAV configuriation, but I don't think this can be easily done in Beehive.
Anyone seen this issue in his/her installation?
    Regards, Tom

a user of OS X 10.8.4 reports the following picture when trying
to access beehive 2.0.1.7 TWS through WebDAV:
Mac OS X "native", cadaver and Cyberduck do not work. He doesn't
even get to the password prompt.
    Cadaver reports "SSL handshake failed"
ForkLift works without problems, and Safari, Firefox and Chrome
can access Zimbra without an issue (so the SSL handshake works
    there).
Seems as if newer versions of OS X face more than the zero-bytes
    issue when accessing beehive WebDAV.
Please share your own experiences with OS X and WebDAV.
    Thanks, Tom

  • Second HDD Encryption Issue Mountain Lion

I'm trying to encrypt my second harddrive in Mountail Lion.  When I click on the drive in finder and select encrypt drive, everything goes fine until the drive should start encrypting, then it tells me "A Recovery System for the targeted disk is required."  I have seen support documents that say you should reformat the drive and that will work.  Is there another way to place a recovery partition on my second drive without refomatting?  I've tried to install 10.8 on the second drive, but I get a message that says File Vault 2 will not work since a recovery partition will not be created.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Audio issues mountain lion

I've hear of audio issues under 10.8 on iMac's with programs such as WOW, but my problem is with FCP X and .mov files in general. I can Quick Look them (spacebar) and they seem to play smoothly, but under Qucktime, Quicktime Pro and even VLC Player the audio does not play correctly. I have played the same file with each program and it skips, stutters, mutes and fails to play properly in different segments of the movie. Any similar experiences?

I've already tried the Midi Setup app by changing some of the defaults. However, like I've seen in other related posts, changing the bitrate and the type of encoding doesn't help much (but, see later).
I've spended yesterday's evening trying to understand what was happening. The DD receiver works fine, since I have no problem playing DVD media from a XBOX.
The surprise was when I've tried to eliminate the HDMI from the equation. I've disconnected the cable from the TV set controling it from remote screen sharing. It worked! I could play media encoded in DD with VLC and DVD media too with no hassle.
However, as I connected again the HDMI, the sound quality became erratic, and although sound can be heard, and DD passthrough was working, there was some "glitches" in the receiver, like micro-cuts of sound, some of them causing the receiver re-detect the type of coding it was receiving.
All this is very odd, as soon as I can I will try the cable in other receiver to discard it, but I fear it's ML fault combined with my setup... I will investigate if downgrading is an option.

I think this is what happened to me aswell. It was working fine till the night before and suddenly its crashing in chrome while launching webex. Launching of webex sessions is failing with the error "could not load WebEx64 general container plugin". Its working fine in Firefox and Safari, therefore seems to be an issue with chrome.
The chrome version I have is  Version 22.0.1229.79

Having the exact same issue. Also, on right click, many apps freeze/beachball and must force close.  Additionally, uTorrent and Transmission are not operating correctly-uTorrent constantly beachballing and unresponsive.  Right-click freezes with everything from Word to iMovie. Takes way too much time to do anything, and lots of cursor freezing, here is a sys log excerpt:

I'm having the same issue - started a few months ago and had to forcibly shut down the Mac. That killed the hard drive, so I got a new hard drive and had the Apple Store install Lion on it, then used Migration Assistant to bring files over. Since then I've upgraded to Mountain Lion and have been experiencing lots of beach balls, freezes, etc. They're so bad that I've had to forcibly shut down 3 times, and each time can't restart. Each time I've erased and done a clean install of Mountain Lion from a USB, then used migration assistant and time machine to bring files back. Just did this last night and am still getting tons of beach balls and freezes. Help please! Here's what Etresoft says.

  • Non NVidia graphics card issues with Adobe and Mountain Lion

It took me a while to figure it out, but now I am certain. If using a Mac with a non nvidia graphics card there will be issues in Mountain Lion while using Adobe products. I tested this with Illustrator CS6 for over a year on 5 different Mac computers.
    Here is what happens
As soon as I open Illustrator on a Mac without a NVidia graphics card and I attend to apply an shadow effect, Illustrator crashes. If I do this procedure on a Mac with a NVidia inside, all works well.
I tested this on the following Macs
MacBook Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia 9600M GT - it works
MacBook Pro (Early 2011) with Radeon 6750M - doesn't work
Mac Pro (Early 2009) with Radeo HD 5770 - doesn't work
The same Mac Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia GT120 - it works
MacBook Air (Mid 2012) with Intel HD 4000 - doesn't work
iMac (Late 2012) with NVidia 680MX - it works
Since I owned all these Macs, I could test it several times with different kind of software updates. 10.8, 10.8.1, 10.8.2 and 10.8.3 did deliver the same result. Everytime the same result.
Already got in touch with Adobe
With Illustrator CS5 it worked like a charme, so I assumed it could be an Adobe issue. But Adobe support told me, it's Apple's fault since 10.8 uses different processes for the graphics performance.
What can be done, to resolve this issue? I cannot buy only Macs with NVidia inside, since the small portable front of Macs is only coming with Intel graphics cards. And is there anybody out there, having this issue? I cannot be the only one, using shadows in Illustrator.

A typical response.  IMO it's most likely a combination of Adobe's reluctance to fix the issue combined with Apple's desire for advancement and change.  I've personally experienced several things that've become broken owing to Apple changing fundamental aspects of the OS, and the developers of the third-party software in question have either never fixed their software, or are taking their sweet time.  WireTap Studio and Snapz Pro from Ambrosia are a case in point, though they eventually fixed Snapz Pro.  Eventually…
Frankly, good luck getting either side to do anything about this.  Your best bet is probably getting in touch with AppleCare and seeing if you can get this escalated to Engineering, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix from either party.  Or perhaps one of the Apple mailing lists will prove useful.

  • Issues with mountain lion upgrade

Has anyone had any issues when upgrading from snow leopard to mountain lion?
I upgraded on Sunday and since have had some issues with access to the Internet. The only way I can get it is by switching off wifi and back on again.
This is happening on both admin account and my sons profile. Though interestingly when I try and access the parental control panel for his account, I get some system errors.
Any help or support would be appreciated.

I also upgraded from Snow to Mountian.  I can bring up google search results but can't load any web pages.  My Mac Pro was working great with Snow never had any issues with internet.  Saw a post with a solution of disabling auto proxy but that doesnt work.  The only way I can load a web page is if I restart my Mac open up Safari then I can usually bring up one web page and then I can not load any more.  I cant connect to the App store either.  I dont know how I will be able to download a patch from Apple now.

  • Since the Mountain Lion OS update today I've had issues with internet connection and e-mail, has anyone else?

Since the Mountain Lion OS update today I've had issues with internet connection and e-mail, has anyone else?

That's what I would have thought, but even after saving the setting, as soon as I shut down my computer or log out of Mail, it automatically defaults back to 25. It's a bit frustrating.
Now I just need to figure out how to get rid of those horrible pop-up banners but still have my glass sound and number of emails in the red dot when I get an email...
These little tweaks are the only thing I HATE about upgrading my OS.

  • After installing mountain lion i lost my pictures in iPhoto, lost my music in iTunes, internet became very slow. What can I do to fix this issues

after installing mountain lion I lost pictures in iphoto, lost my musisc in itunes, my icluod is not working, internet its very slow and some other issues. There is a way how to fix these issues

    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it.
Now for your music. Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click iTunes > Preferences then select the Store tab.
Select: Music.  (and Apps and Books) if you want.
    Click OK.
iCloud syncs via your Wi-Fi network so give it a minute or two to reset your photos and music.
Slow internet ...   try turning off the modem for a few minutes, then turn it back on.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

Perhaps, I was not clear enough.
I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • Safari 6.2 does NOT work in Mountain Lion; huge issues

Question is does anyone have any ideas about this.
Also my purpose is to WARN people NOT to upgrade to 6.2!!!
15" mid-2013 MBPr running 10.8.5.  Upgraded to Safari 6.2 today and regret it mightily (this is why I rarely upgrade until FORCED).  Immediately, could not open most of my Google docs or Gmail. Kept getting this dialog:
"This error has been reported to Google and we'll look into it as soon as possible. Please reload your page to continue."
But I couldn't reload--the error kept continuing. Endless loop of click Ok and it comes back.  Plus, got colored spinning beach ball hangs on MANY other sites (including ironically Apple site to go to support  forums).  and every 3 seconds "webpages have stopped
NONE OF THIS was going on with the same tabs opened in 6.1.x or whatever it was before that. It was slow, but otherwise worked.
I tried to use Time Machine to go back to my last Safari app and of course got the message that Safari is necessary system software and could not be replace.
After trying to get through to tech support twice and getting disconnected (???) I got someone who told me it would NOT be possible in any way to downgrade to previous version of Safari.
I was further informed that "we cannot test new versions of browsers to work with all apps and be sure their functionality is not broken." I said "I would think Google, though, might be kind of a priority as one you would test." it's not like it's an OSCURE APP.
I was also told to upgrade to Mavericks so i could just use safari 7.1.  I do NOT want to upgrade to Mavericks for very specific reasons (not the least of which, besides this situation which happens all too frequently, is that there are other things that are broken in Mavericks as i can see on my 13" retina Macbook, particularly with Apple Mail, which I find very annoying, and other functionalities and interface things that I find less friendly in Mavericks).  I have one Mavericks machine and I want one Mountain Lion machine. Period. This should be OK.
I asked for a supervisor when the guy suggested i simply use a different browser like Firefox or Chrome.  Are you KIDDING me? That's your answer?
I use Chrome and Safari each for specific work things and Firefox for all personal. THat is how I organize my stuff. I edit Google docs related to one client's work  in Safari. THat is where my permissions are to access those docs.
I said that any released version Safari should work with major, hugely popular business apps and I should not have to SWITCH AWAY FROM SAFARi. If you are suggesting i NOT USE SAFARI, then it shouldn't be released. Period.
The supervisor told me that I could downgrade only by downgrading my whole system. Only way. (I later realized after I hung up--unless you can tell me otherwise--that means restoring my whole hard drive, NOT just my system,? Like FULL Time Machine restore of everything. If I could do JUST he system, I'd do it.)
He also said that it was "possible I could get Safari 6.2 working with Google docs"  IF I "played around with settings and preferences in Safari."
Um. I said, prompting him, ahem…since I called in for support, perhaps you could work with me to give me some ideas of what those settings or changes might be, rather than have me "randomly play with" it?
He reluctantly did so, screen sharing with me, had me do all the things I;d already tried (restring Safari, restarting computer, etc), closing and opening those docs. He saw the error message through screen sharing. he could not explain it. We played around with opening the docs from Drive or email instead of from the bookmarked tabs.
Sometime into the call, it stopped doing it.  We never knew why.  So he thought we'd solved it (even though no explanation for why it had been, never identified a consistent source).  He said "well, so Safari 6,2 DOES work."  But after we hung up, it started doing it again.  Mainly with Google (error message) but also with other sites (beach ball hangs).  I will not bother calling back.  I guess I either cant use Safari  or need to restore my whole system to get old one back (again, I don't want to go to Mavericks on this machine).
    Anyone got ideas?
What i find more concerning than the thing not working (which isn't insignificant ) is the lack of care and lack of knowledge that is now consistently apparent when I call for help, compared to how consistently awesome it used to be.
    Sad.
I would appreciate any insights anyone has gleaned re this issue. And again I caution against 6.2.   My machine works great otherwise, Safari worked fien before the upgrade,  and NO, i DO NOT have any anti-virus software!

    Happy to.  It's below.
Not everyone hijacked this thread thread btw--Danabeck for example said having EXACT same problem I am. Furthermore, the Sharepoint "fix" that worked, then stopped working is pretty weird.
and whatever is going on, it wasnt in Safari 6.1 with very same system. But sure--if something unneeded is causing problem with 6.2, I'd be delighted to dump it.
