The answer to what I think is your question has been already given.
If you do not have  clue about oracle, then it will be difficult to advise.
BR* tools are used to administer the oracle database. There is an interactive menu to the individual tools with most of the options.
It is called BRTOOLS. You use it when you do not know how to call each tool individually.
Please, attend to the training mentioned by Eric (ADM505) and read the documentation. There you get an overview of the tools capabilities (and you can go as deep as you want)

    Dear All,
    Thanks for your responses.
Permissions are set as below for br* files.
    sap-dev:devadm 23> ls -ltr br*
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 oradev     sapsys     3437688 Oct 31  2008 brarchive
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 oradev     sapsys     3547760 Oct 31  2008 brbackup

    -rwxrwxr-x   1 oradev     sapsys     2175208 Oct 31  2008 brtools
I guess it is fine because with these set of permissions, it is working absolutely fine in my quality system.
QAS Permissions are as belows for your information
    sap-qas:qa1adm 22> ls -ltr br*
    -rwsrwxr-x   1 oraqa1     sapsys     3437688 Oct 31  2008 brarchive

    -rwsrwxr-x   1 oraqa1     sapsys     2175208 Oct 31  2008 brtools
So do you feel still it has something to do with permissions?

    Hi Stefan,
I have already raised an sap call with very high priority. Sap has also verified and given me a few commands to verify if there any data block corruptions by using the dbverify and export of database to null. The export log and the db verify log shows no error. all the database if fine without any data block corruptions. is it like if patchset is not done well then will be get these type of problems? But i can see the Opatch lsinventory log shows all the patchsets and the bugs covered as per the patchset we applied. here is the Opatch lsinventory logfile for your reference. finally sap told that it is due to fault memory chip. we also did a memory test to see is it really a fault memory chip. but the memory test shows no errors. what could be the error. please help!

Yes, it does so, because somebody forgot to upgrade the BASIS SP as well...
What BASIS SP are you using?

  • Oracle 8.1.7.4.0 with Brtools 620

    Hi,
I am trying to find out using OSS notes if there are issues around brtools 620 being used with Oracle 8 but i can seem to find any. Has anyone done this and can assure its workable? If that is the case then what patch level do i need to be with Oracle 8, SAP Kernel (if applicable) and patch level for brtools 620?
We have an issue with multiple systems running on a single server and one is using Oracle 10, one is Oracle 9 and the other is Oracle 8. the backup tool we use is networker and it is compatible with all database versions but i need to make sure that brtools 620 will work with Oracle 8. Currently, it uses brtools 610 with Oracle 8.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Mani

  • Steps to Upgrade  BRTOOLS 6.4 to BRTOOLS 7.10

We have SAP Basis Kernel 6.4 on Oracle 10 G 64 bit / Sun Solaris 64 bit and BRTOOLS 6.4, want to upgrade only BRTOOLS to 7.10. Please let me know the steps to follow.
Is it just copying the executables? Or some other steps to be taken.
Is there any notes or document available ?
    Your reply will be appreciated,
    Al Mamun

    Yes  Mamun...
You are right.. You just have to copy all BR* executables and replace old ones with newer ones. Best is to restart SAP after this.
I would recommend to check SAP OSS before upgrading..This contains all the info you will be needing
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/12741
    Hope this will help you..
