Brush adjustment tool missing in ACR
I have PS CS6 with the latest updates, using a Mac computer with OS 10.7 also with the latest updates. When in ACR, the adjustment brush does not appear on the screen unless I click the bracket keys which increase or decrease the size of the brush. If I paint a segment and the let go of the brush key, the brush disappears again. I have to keep repeating this if I am painting multiple parts of the photo. I have thrown away and reset the preferences for both Photoshop and Bridge, as well as repairing disk permissions on my Mac. Any suggestions?

ACR 5.2 Targeted Adjustment Tool has no drop down menu
Hello
I've just started playing with Camera Raw 5.2 and I cannot get a drop down menu for the targeted adjustment tool. When I click on it the icon remains "depressed" and I enter the tone mode. In order to get to the other modes, I have to move to the appropriate tab.
I guess I could use the key board short-cuts but I would like to know why I don't get a drop down menu.
Geoffrey PocockHow amazingly simple - just a bit strange as drop-down menus usually appear on a single click - thank you very much

Reduced range of adjustment tool options on some images
Hi. I've noticed that some of my images (both raw - CR2 - and jpg) don't get the full range of options on the adjustment tools, while other images do. e.g. no temp settings, highlights, shadows, etc etc. Using Lightroom 5 and WIndows 7. I think it must have to do with some technical setting on the images but I wouldn't know where to start figuring out what those would be.
My limited range on the adjustment brush:
Thanks! Many users will wish to leave their images as edited in previous versions of LR. However the highlights and shadows sliders are more effective than the old fill light and recovery sliders and there may be instances where you wish to re-edit older photos using PV 2012. There is a small icon (click image below) under the histogram in Develop for images processed using PV 2010 and clicking it gives the option to update. Adobe recommends updating images on an individual basis to begin with but you can also select all filmstrip items. So you can use the camera calibration tab or simply click the histogram icon.

Beginner Question- Unable to Use Eyedropper and Targeted Adjustment Tools
When trying to use the eyedropper or targeted adjustment tools (in the HSL menu), I will grab the tool and hover over my photo and my cursor changes to the magnifying glass. When using the eyedropper the preview will reflect the white balance but when I click my photo is enlarged instead of using the tool. Help please! I know there must be a simple answer, I am just a first time user of Lightroom (previously used Bridge/Camera RAW) and am getting very frustrated. Many thanks
Yes. I've seen the same glitch occur on Mac. Not sure what is happening, but I agree, it is maddening. I stumbled upon a solution that works for me:
Press the Q key (cursor changes to the Healing Brush)
Press the W key (should now change to Eyedropper-White Balance tool)
Now the Eyedropper may work again.
I know right? Doesn't make sense, but whatever has happened to cause the Eyedropper to not work but instead bring up the Magnify tool, this sequence seems to bump it out of the glitch -- at least it's working for me.
Hope that helps. -
Can you help with the moire adjustment tool in Camera Raw?
I have a file with a lot of moire on a child's dress and am having problems using camera raw moire adjustment tool.
I opened a jpeg file (not raw) in camera raw. When I use the moire adjustment brush - set to +100 - and click on the eyeglass tool in the window to see the effect - it shows a white overlay.
Clicking the preview button doesn't show up any difference.
I have saved several files as tests but the moire remains unaltered.
Any help appreciated. Or alternatively, suggestions on how to deal with Moire in Photoshop.
Thank you.If possible deal with the moire issues up front. If you have original re-scan to see if you can reduce effect. If not do a web search for this. There are several tutorials listed such as http://photographylife.com/how-to-remove-moire-in-photoshop
Hope this helps. -
Target adjustment tool Menu does not appear
Hello
I use ACR 7.1 and I have a problem with this tool : when I clic on this icon on the top tools bar I have no menu I should get a menu with parametric curves hue saturation luminance but nothing. Of course I could use the HSL part on the right interface but I would like to know why my ACR behaviour is not has it should be.Thankstartempion77 wrote:
Thanks for answer but it is not what i meant: what I said is I have no dropdown menu when I clic on Target adjustment tool icon
Uh huh...didn't I mention the fact that by default when you click on TAT you get Parametric Curves by defatult (and no, it doesn't change to the the panel, by design). If you want HSL or Grayscale you need to click on the panel to switch from curves...
You would be better off learning the actual behavior... -
Photoshop CS6 incredible slowness of adjustment tools in RAW files
I am running Photoshop CS6 on an iMac with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 15 Processor, 32 GB of Memory. I have suddenly noticed an incredibler slowdown in processing when I am working with any of the adjustment tools on RAW files. There can be up to a 20 second lag time. This seems to coincide with the downloard of the newest ViewNX 2 version although I cannot be certain. Any help woul be greately appreciated.

Spot Adjustment Tool goes invisible
I have Adobe Lightroom 2.3, and like all versions I've had before, when I use the spot adjustment tool, there are brush sizes that will not display. The brush is indicated when I mouse over the brush size slider, but when I take the brush over the image, the brush disappears. When the brush is large, it displays. I can reduce its size somewhat and it still displays. If I continue it disappears. When I mouse over the brush size slider it reappears a nd is still the size of a nickel on screen. Before you answer: I am not making the brush too small_ I know what that looks like> Thanks for your help!
I hear what you're saying, but I have this issue on two separate
computers. It seems unlikely to be a driver issue on two computers, but
I will check for updates/newer versions and report back. Thanks for the
help!

Help... my adjustment tool stopped working
I'm not sure what I did to break it. One day it worked fine, and then I created some customized settings (for the adjustment tool,) and then it stopped functioning properly.
This is what I see:
When I click on the tool brush, then click on the image, nothing happens.
When I click on the dot to see where I have painted, instead of getting the bright red color over those areas, it shows just a faint opaque red.
It's the only thing that's not working right, and I'm in a heap of trouble because I have to use it to work.
Can anyone please help?Jenna_Whidby had this to say:

From other messages here, check your flow settings. Sometimes they
inadvertently get set to zero, and so you'd see no effects. -
Making later changes to Local Adjustment Tool
While the local adjustment tool is great - is there a way of "unpainting" parts of the adjustment, allowing you to refine areas/edges etc, rather than having to delete whole mask ?
ie like switching from a black to a white brush when using Photoshop masks ?
Also with gradient masks eg when object portudes into an adjusted sky areaPretty basic...hold down the Option (or Alt for Win) key while painting to erase. Note the erase key can have different size and hardness settings than the paint in brush. This is use for painting with a bigger broad brush and using a smaller harder brush to erase the mask.

I'm using PS CC 2014 on a 64 bit Windows 7 PC. Photoshop is unusable due to the brushes/eraser tools freezing.
Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it, or how to revert to Photoshop CC using a Creative Cloud subscription?
If this helps, all other cc 2014 programs are running perfectly - as was the previous version of Photoshop. When exactly does your brushes/eraser tools freeze?
Do you use any Wacom or other brand tablet? If so, have you checked for an updated driver? Disconnect Wacom and use a mouse instead and check.
Disconnect all the external devices and then retry.
Install all the PS updates. Help > Updates
Try resetting the PS CC preferences and check if it's an issue with corrupt preferences : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776
Try to open PS CC 2014 in Plugin Disabled mode and check the same. For that Press Shift+PS CC 2014 icon and hit Yes.
Restart your machine and retry.
Let me know how it goes.

Adjustment tools in Camera Raw not working
Downloaded CS 5 and opened Camera Raw, then attempted to use the adjustment tool and received the following message "Unable to create local adjustment. All the local adjustment controls are set to have no effect on the image." Can anyone provide assistance please and thanks?
I had the same problem and tried turning of GPU in Photoshop and in Lightroom which did not work, however in the RAW window when I found the preferences tab which is the tab with the 3 horizontal lines and unchecked GPU there Camera Raw did start working and the blue screen was replaced by my image. Hope this clarifies it more and you get yours to wok also!

Cursor doesn't change to bush when using brush adjustment
I'm running into an issue when I using the brush adjustment in LR 5.5. The cursor doesn't change from the pointer to the brush cursor. Does any one have a fix for this? I'm running the latest version of LR. I have an 2011 iMac running OS 10.9.4 Any help to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Same thing here. I also find that Apple Mail is the most frequent offender. Still, like you have mentioned, it is not limited just to mail. This was not a problem for me in Mountain Lion. However, I am noticing that this is a problem for users as far back as 2006 and for every OS release since. It seems that this is not a OS- specific issue. Or if it is, Apple hasnt addressed it in 6 OS releases. This seems like it would be an easy fix. Pretty annoying that it doesnt "just work," right?

Lightroom bug: activation state of brush adjustment lost
Since the introduction of Lightroom 2 through 2.4 there has been a bug in the operation of the local brush adjustment. It's as follows.
Start or edit a local brush adjustment so that the little activation bullet (radio like button) appears. Toggle before/after by typing . When returning the after view (after/before/after) the local brush bullet is no longer active, thus forcing me to reselect it. The behavior is especially irritating when I'm zoomed in so the active brush indicator not view (scrolled off). I am then required to zoom out so I can find it and click to reactivate it, then zoom in to continue my editing. I see no reason why the active brush should not remain active between toggling between after/before/after with "\". I prefer to do my before/after viewing with the full frame rather than one of the split pane views because I want to see as much of the image as possible. I've reported this issue directly to Adobe a few times with no response or fix.
p.s. while I'm at it (I'll repost in feature requests). The location of the brush adjustment indicator corresponds to where the mouse down first occurred. I should be able to move the indicator to where it's more convenient after placing it, regardless of where the brush strokes occur. For some images I have a number of local adjustments in the same region. They become crowded, making it hard to distinguish one brush indicator from another.Hi
Good point, but does not work on all density settings, noda. -
