Brush an adjustment In or away, not always present!

Hi,
Does anyone knows why does the Brush-In & Brush-Away not always shows under the Popup menu of a given adjustment?
sometimes I have it, sometimes I don't. Not sure what I'm missing here any idea?

well, the pictures I'm talking about are from the same shoot, all Raw and was imported same date. but for some reason, I get the brush in & out for a particular picture and then a couple of minutes later, when I try to reedit something on that same picture I find that the brush in / out no longer exist.
maybe it has something to do with previews as JIm says, but it's really annoying.

After I send a text to somone, if they answer me, there is no sound to notify me. People do not always answer me right away, so I want a sound to occur everytime someone texts me, even if we are having a conversation. Is there a setting?

Is there a setting so when I receive a text it will always make a sound- Even if I am in a conversation with someone? People do not always answer my text right away so I don't know that they respond because there is no sound notification.

It will make a sound if i receive a text from someone. The problem occurs when I am in a conversation with a person. It only makes a sound the first time. After that, no sound is made. If they don't answer me right away, i don't know that they have responded and I miss a lot of texts. I have the sound turned on and up and have a sound chosen for texts in settings.

Brush Tool Not Always Working As Should

For whatever reason periodically my brush tool when in use will not work accurately and instead be off of where I am using it...say I am working on an eye it will paint right below the eye. It is weird and seems to happen enough to be frustrating and for no apparent reason and am not sure if my Wacom tablet driver could be coming into play or not either. Anyone else having this happen to them? I actually thinks it happens with my clone tool too....

I have run into this and some other weird behaviors, such as the anchor points on a path turn into weird little diamond shapes. I suspect this has something to do with OpenGL. Maybe some buffer is full.
My solution has been to quite PS, run some maintenance, restart. The maintenance I run is Leopard Cache Cleaner. I repair permissions, clear some caches, and restart. This fixes those weirdnesses.
I don't know if it's necessary to do all those steps. Maybe fixing permissions and restart would do it.

Why do my calendars not always update 9or update right away?)

I am not sure i am following APPLE's instructions correctly as I don't get consistent results. Can someone help? Thanks.
I have the newest IPOD TOUCH. And some things I have entered on my MACs and even work PCs (me.com calendars eventually showed up on my ipod touch. Vice versa too.) Problem is that this is not consistent. I occasionally find something does not make it, especially from internet (me.com) to the IPOD.
I THINK my IPOD TOUCH settings may be the problem.
They are
PUSH--> ON
FETCH --> MANUAL
I have tried other ways, and the results are always unclear. I thought to save the battery PUSH should be off, or is it only FETCH?
I have wifi on AT HOME. But only to get mail sent to my IPOD. Out on the street and at work there IS no wifi. But anyway, on or off, it seems like I need to have my usb connector plugged in to sync. So I do that too.
SO, Calendar--> PUSH ON OR OFF? FETCH ON OR OFF? WIFI ON OR OFF?
Now Push on, wifi on.
MAC settings too are confusing. There is SYSTEM PREFERENCES and Itunes.
Here they are for my PPC G5 running 10.5.5 and Intel Macbook Pro running 10.4.4)

Sync (all items checked except, on the desktop, the mysteriously named "com.panic.transmit.favorites". So that includes calendars. And set for AUTOMATICALLY.

Contacts and Calendars are synced "OVER THE AIR" from Mobile ME. That implies wifi? But regardless, with or without, plugged in or not, I do not always get things synced.
Mail account--only have me.com. before I had the other email I use, but it seemed to create multiple instances of Mobile me on my IPOD and also multiple calendars "On my Ipod" and UNTITLED Account" So now I leave only mobile,me checked. (see below ADVANCED)
Advanced:
REPLACE INFO ON THIS IPOD.... Or, THIS may have been the culprit, so now I leave this off
So, now I am left wondering if any of my settings are less than desired. And is the syncing, when it happens, occurring over wifi or over the USB? So far, the one setting that seems to MAYBE make a difference is in SYSTEM preferences-->changing to SYCH WITH MOBILE ME MANUAL (whereas before it was AUTO).

Stuff from Mobile Me comes down automatically. That was supposed to be Push (instant), but Apple had to admit that in reality for now, there is going to be some delay. Even so, if I time it well, mail and calendar changes arrive elsewhere as soon as I make them on the computer or the touch or even the cloud.
Some apps do not support Push, so that Manual (or the times) cover that situation.

No. By selecting the Mobile Me method, the USB syncs are closed off.

You mean other things sync but not calendars? I am not sure how I actually subscribe them. I just see the same info now on the web and on my TOUCH.
Your ordinary calendars do, but those you subscribe to (for example I subscribe to a calendar that I found on a website that gives me Formula 1 schedule; and my boss at work gives me a calendar I subscribe to). My basic calendars are fine, but the subscribed calendars do not even appear in Mobile Me or on the touch.
Hm. So far with that specific computer I can ONLY get wifi and not USB. You said I can turn it off??? You mean by turing PUSH to off? So PUSH off, no sync. Push on, sync.
Right. The Sync would be via USB, but that only syncs the touch and the computer, the computer would also sync with the cloud. OK, if you only have one computer, I guess. Syncs from the touch wait until you come home and plug it in.
So turning on MOBILE ME (PUSH???) makes SYNC via USB stop working?
That is right. If you look in the information panel in iTunes when you have the touch connected, that is what is indicated.
Thanks you. As you see, I am still very foggy about this all. It seems like the USB is good for charging and Itunes stuff, but that the calendar only syncs with PUSH on and FETCH set to, so far for me, MANUAL.
You have that about right, Yes.
And yet on some of its pages Apple says you should turn off PUSH and/or FETCH to save battery life.
Right. If you are in a situation where Push is not going to work for a few hours (like on a plane, or in the middle of a desert) it makes no sense to discharge a battery unnecessarily. If you are in and out of Starbucks in the US, or somewhere that has wifi on that you can link to -- and you do update a lot, or read email -- then keep it on.

My iPhone 4 with the new OS does not always ring

Since I upgraded to the latest OS my iPhone does not always ring, and also the Ringer icon that comes up when you adjust the volume does not indicate if it's going up or down.
Has anyone seen this before and/or has a solution ?

Ensure that Do Not Disturb is not on in Control Center.
If a Bluetooth headset is connected, all audio is directed to the headset.
Clean the dock connector with a soft, dry brush.
Clean the headphone jack and try plugging/unplugging a pair of headphones several times.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If none of the above resolves the issue, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

The two most likely culprits would be a faulty cable/charging block or a bad digitizer. Try charging the device with a different charger and cable. If the problem goes away, then the problem is with your charger. If it does not, try the basics of resetting, restoriing from back up, restoring as new. If you still have the problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store for evaluation.

Pages slow to load or do not load, then time out, sometimes stopping page from loading will reveal it or stopping and refreshing it, though not always.

pages will not always load or take forever, if i stop it from loading and refresh it it may load right away though not always. It is like the old days @ 33K, never used to happen, basically have all the same plugins have always had.
has been doing this for several months now, finally can't take it any more, all malware, virus, scans are clean, settings are the same for last ? years.
do get script problems from time to time but not very often.
loading say New egg, will take forever or will not completely load page, have backed up all bookmarks, etc: removed and reinstalled but no change.
any Ideas would be of great help. I have been using Firefox, since it's inception and don't want to switch browsers.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

HT1338 My MacBook Pro (running Leopard 10.5.8) won't allow keyboard to type an upper case 'C' using the shift key...works fine with caps lock, or, with my Typinator workaround using double-typed lower case c (not always best). Any ideas?

My MacBook Pro keyboard won't type an upper case 'C' using the shift key... only with caps lock. Workaround has been to use Typinator by typing a double lower case c, not always the best solution. Mac is a refurbished model, which initially was fine. Apple tech helped me correct the quirk when it first appeared, but now it has returned and refuses fixes. Any ideas?

I'm willing to bet that this has something to do with iCloud. I've been facing a frozen computer nearly every time I go into it.
In Activity Monitor I have seen two programs associate with iCloud that take up about 2.5 GB of memory (I only have 4 in the computer) -- causing everything to freeze. One of these is called "iCloud Helper" and the other one is something like "Address Book Sync helper" -- I see parts of these names in the stuff you have posted.
I am at my wits' end with these and have written to Apple asking them to do away with these or fix them. To get rid of the Address book sync thing I have gone into system preferences for iCloud and unchecked Contacts -- but then spontaneously it gets rechecked. And oftentimes after I Force Quit the iCloud helper, it spontaneously turns on again. My conclusion --- the iCloud is basically unusable. It turns a Mac into the most useless, clogged, sluggish PC. If this is happening to a lot of people's computers -- and I see no reason why yours or mine should be an exception -- these programs just might destroy Apple itself.
So -- I'm about to completely give up on iCloud, and I suspect that others will too unless this gets fixed.

10 Bit in Photoshop CS5 not always visible. Why?

im using an Eizo CG243W with an ATI FirePro 4800 and Win7 64 + the PS CS5 Trial (runs out soon, im thinking about buying PS CS5 if this Problem gets solved anyway).
Ok, i activated 10Bit in the newest ATI Driver and in Photoshop. It works, but not all the time. When i open an Image i can see its 10 Bit but
when i move the Picture or Zoom in/out it gets down to 8 bit and stays there until i click somewhere else, open a menu or do something.
So the 10 Bit is not always active. When i paint with a brush on the image when 10 Bit is active, it gets down to 8 bit and sometimes when
i press and hold space, it gets back to 10 Bit.
Any clues?

I have the same Problem.
When i open the ATI Testfile RAMP.PSD i see that it is in 10Bit but when i zoom in or even move the mouse over the image, the 8bit Banding gets visible. Very strange. My system uses newest ATI Drivers.
Tried everything from resetting the Drivers (FirePro 4800) and playing around in the Photoshop OpenGL Settings.
The Windows 7 Aero design gets put off by the ATI Driver itself when you enable the 10 Bit in the Driver-menu.
Did anyone else notice this? 10 Bit works for my Eizo+FirePro but that strange behavior when you move the mouse around or zoom or brush isnt normal at all.
Btw. If i can test something i have the time to test anything about about 10bit in Photoshop CS5

Photoshop Elements 9 - unable to use brush in adjustment layer

I'm new to Adobe Photoshop Elements and have recently purchased Elements 9. I am having problems using the brush in adjustment levels.
I've opened a RAW image and converted it to black and white by desaturating it using an adjustment layer. I'm then trying to adjust the black and white image using several adjustment levels. I'm using the brush to black out the parts of the image in the particular adjustment layer I don't want changing. This worked initially, but for some reason, the brush stopped working in the adjustment layers. It's a soft brush set to 300px, the mode is "Normal" and opacity is 100%. Put simply, it's not obliterating anything in the layer, nor does anything appear in the thumbnail over on the right (both these things happened before)
The brush works normally when adjusting an image with no levels i.e. when you simply open a RAW or TIFF file and use the brush.
I've tried uninstalling the programme and reinstalling, but the porblem persists.
Can anyone offer any help? It's frustrating as I can't selectively adjust my image. Am I doing something wrong, is it a glitch, or is it just a simple case of ticking a simple box some where in the pre-sets?

Check that you have your brush set to black (foreground color black)
and that your actually painting on the layer mask (click on the layer mask
to make it active).
Try just painting on the mask of your adjustment layer used to desaturate the photo
with a black brush (the color should come back)
Sometimes with multiple adjustment layers, the strokes on one layer mask may overlap
the strokes on another.
If you want more control over a black and white conversion, you might try something like
the following.
1. Add a hue\saturation adjustment layer and change the layers blending mode to Color
2. Add another hue\saturation adjustment layer and move the saturation slider to -100
3. On the first adjustment layer (the one with the color blend mode), move the hue
and saturation sliders for different black and white effects.
4. If you want to add a color tint, set the top hue\saturation layer to colorize and
adjust the hue and saturation sliders for different tint effects.

Ipod is not always recognized

Nano is not always recognized by computer and only recognized by itunes immediately after connecting (the device icon on the right goes away seconds after connection). Any helps?

I had this problem when I first got mine...but sorry, I don't remember what I did to fix it.
I might of done something like go to start icon, then computer, then devices with removable storage, then did something from there. Try googling it and see if someone else had the same/simular problem.

Text messages won't alert my on my iPhone 5s until I click the home button. Not always though

I Have had my iPhone 5s for a while and ever since I have had it I will be waiting for a txt message and as I'm waiting a while I will click the home button and then I will receive the message and it will say however many minutes ago I really got it. but it doesnt happen Always. I have taken it to sprint and apple and they have replaced the phone manu of times and every time I have completely started the phone as new so to make sure nothing was corrupted on the phone. And since I have stsrted it as new every time I thought the problem would go away. but no still I will have a fresh phone with nothing on it except phone numbers I have manually put in there and still like I said not always but a lot of times I'm waiting for a message and I will click the home button then the phone will alert me saying I got the message how ever many minutes ago. Please help !

FCP X Stabilization Box Not Always Available??

I'm not always getting the option to add Stabilization to a clip. It seems to be related to multiclip, but I could be wrong.
Lifting a clip from the storyline doesn't appear to help.
I *need* stabilization for some of these clips! Any help greatly appreciated.

It happens when you remove the audio from clip you had imported.
Well at least that happened to me.
I recorded clips using 5D2, 5D3 and a 1DX with native mic, Rode Mic and a H4N.
Native mic, I replaced the audio with H4N's. Upon doing this, I realised, stablization option is gone.
Pretty sure this is a bug.. Even detaching the audio, bring the volume down, the stablization option goes missing as well.
If I were to stablise the clip BEFORE taking original audio away and use a different source, background task simply hangs at 0%. Had to quit the application and it will prompt/warn me that background task will also quit.
This is however, solved by simpling reducing the volume of clip imported (blue) without detaching audio from clip). So that channel is silent and my new imported audio (from my H4N, green) is dubbed over my clip.
Works like a charm. I think I complicated things myself when I detach the audio (which iswas my workflow!).
